:D I know I'm relatively new here (I'm still a lurker...:( oh well) but I thought I'd post some of my stuff here for viewing, comments, etc. I'll mainly post photos but if I feel like it, maybe some songs later.

So, for starters...*claps hands together*

Some of my efforts in photography class at school.
Was bored the other day, had a stack of leftover photography paper, teacher was away, enlarger was free in the darkroom...recipe for an interesting (if not class-related) 'photogram'...
http://img397.imageshack.us/img397/7109/musicalhand6rc.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

A previous photo from last year of some ceramic swans casting silhouettes on the wall...
http://img397.imageshack.us/img397/5034/swans28tf.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

And a very pretty sky, taken out my window the other night (no digital enhancement, except cropping...)
http://img397.imageshack.us/img397/8367/sky13us.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

That'll do to begin with. I'll post some more later.

Wow, I love those! The first is really cool - very original. And I LOVE the second one, it's just so beautiful. Hee, the sky in the third one is mighty pretty. Sorry, I'm hyper. I love them! Great work. :D

Hehe, more photos! Okay, here's what I think of them:

Pic 1: I don't think I've ever seen anything like that before! Very creative. May I ask how you created this image / "photogram"?
Pic 2: Good job on the light and shadows!
Pic 3: Wonderful colors but I couldn't help notice that this one's a bit blurred. Could be intentional though but if it isn't, you know what to do to get it right, since you're attending photography class, right? ;)

I hope to see the next batch of photos soon! :)

Hiya,

Well, I love hands so that first one is wicked. I also love the swans one, ikt has that "perfect" feel to it, or kinda like you're just waiting for something to happen.
Hehe, I've also been taking loads of pictures of the sunsets I we get from my parents' window!(you can check out my thread to see) So again, I love that last one, the colours are beautiful.

Please post more soon! You won't stay a lurker for long :)

The picture of the hand is awesome, I love how the music notes are in the background. The ceramic swans, and beautiful, I really like that picture. The sky is absoutly gorgeous. I hope to see more of your stuff soon.

Wow, thanks guys :p

Pic 1: 'Photograms' are what my photography teacher got us to do (when we first started in photography classes) to demonstrate how photographic paper responds to light/lack of light etc, by going to an enlarger, placing a sheet of photography paper under the light, and placing objects on top of the paper before exposing it. In this case, I made a cardboard stencil of my hand (my thumb looks a bit warped, doesn't it?) and laid a sheet of music underneath it on the photo paper. I exposed it for 10 seconds and that's the result. :)

Pic 3: Yeah, I didn't mean for it to blur. I just happened to glance out my window and thought 'hey, that looks pretty cool', and by the time I'd gotten out the digital camera, re-loaded the batteries, and aimed it out the window, the clouds had moved quite a bit. I just wanted to capture the colours and didn't have much time for fiddling around with focus, tripods, etc.

After all that...I can't add many more at the moment because I really should be spending time on stupid homework  (four assessment tasks to do in two weeks! What are the teachers trying to do, kill us!?), but this should please any cat-lovers out there - meet my cat, Sarah:

And this is the result after messing around with the pic for a while:

I do have some more photos (some landscapes) waiting for upload, but they'll come a bit later.

I've never heard of those photograms before but it seems like you can do pretty cool things using that method! I know what you're talking about with the sunsets: once you've decided that the sky looks good enough for a photo, you only get about 5 minutes to take a picture and then it's gone.:(

Nice cat! I like the way you edited the eyes!
There seem to be plenty of cat lovers (including me:)) on the board, if you click on this link (http://www.evboard.com/showthread.php?t=540) you'll enter a thread that is full of pictures of pets, including a LOT of cats.

I'm looking forward to seeing the landscape-photos!

Aw the picture of your cat is cute. I really like how you made the last one black and white, and changed the eye color. Makes it look awesome. Great job. :)

OK, landscapes time: (well some of them aren't technically landscapes, but they're 'places'. So yeah.)

Taken at Botany Bay (or near there anyway):
http://img116.imageshack.us/img116/5723/cliffs7pv.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Teh Sydney Opera House:
http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/8279/operahouse9ie.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

And this. I have a bit of a thing about taking photos of skies, and I happened to have my camera with me while we were stopped at a red light during the evening. Forgetting about how flash can bounce off a window, I tried to take a quick shot out of the car window of the sky, and ended up with a really weird, murky, grey print - but the 'No Standing' sign was glowing really brightly. I messed around with the colours on my computer for a while and ended up with this:
http://img296.imageshack.us/img296/2476/nostanding6nq.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

Which I thought looked kind of cool.

That's really all the photos I have for now, but sometime in the future I'll probably have another batch that I can upload. :) Maybe I'll add some song lyrics between photos instead.

Thanks for the comments :D

Botany Bay: Spectacular coastline! Nice photo, but try to keep the horizon horizontal.;)

Sydney Opera House: Cool picture with exellent lighting!

Flash Incident: Hehe, when I saw it I thought it was a photo of a violent thunderstorm. Oh well, the flash bouncing off the window certainly created some cool special effects.:D

See you around!

My thread has slipped all the way to page 5! Better do something about that.:p

I've just been on a weekend away and have taken quite a few photos - I don't know when they'll be ready for posting here.

But in the meantime, I have discovered the Joy of the Camera in my New Mobile Phone. (Cellphone for any Americans out there.) I ended up taking this nice shot of my friend Estelle, who didn't mind me taking a closeup of her (and didn't mind posing a bit):

http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/3903/phonepicbw2yp.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

(I'd set the camera to take black-and-white shots deliberately)

When I loaded it onto my PC I made a very sad attempt at hand-colouring it. Then I tried a second time and ended up with this (not that it's all that much better):
http://img228.imageshack.us/img228/8279/phonepicrecolour1gq.jpg (http://imageshack.us)

It's only when you look closely that you see all the flaws...maybe you should just sit back away from your monitor to view this? :D

Comments appreciated, thanks.

Those holiday photos are coming. Really. I've developed the negs and as soon as I can get back in the darkroom at school, I shall post them here for all to see, unless they are crap.

In the meantime, I found a picture of a rose on Google and made it into this image:
http://img73.imageshack.us/img73/945/rosesparchment6am.jpg (http://imageshack.us)
Nothing too spectacular, I know. (However one of my friends said that about 'Fallen'...and look how wrong they were!)
It uses the first chorus line of one of my songs. :)

I then made the image into a sig, only to discover that n00bs like me who are still in the moderation queue can't have sigs! :( Although I think I meet the requirements...maybe..."New numbers as we tweak them: you must have 10 posts, be registered for over 21 days, or have a reputation of 20 to get promoted." *twiddles thumbs and looks pointedly at whoever is in charge of all this*

Anyhoo, this is the sig-in-waiting:

'tis grainy due to being resized :(
More coming...sometime...

In the meantime, I went to a butterfly house and tested the capabilities of my macro lens...producing these (and many more, but I don't want to bore you guys) shots. You'll have to click them to see them, because they're so large, but trust me, they look MUCH better full-screen. So...click away...

Test results: your macro lens works just fine! :D What kind of lens (and camera) did you use for these shots?

Anyway, nice bunch of pics! :)

My camera is a Fuji FinePix S602z digital camera.
The macro lens is...a button on the side: press it once, and it goes to 'macro' mode, press it twice, 'super macro'. Very technical ;)

However, the lens on the front has 'Super-EBC Fujinon Lens Optical Zoom' written on it, if that means anything.

Interesting camera. It's like an SLR-camera with a built-in (not detachable) lens, right?

I guess the butterfly pics were taken using the normal macro-mode? *wonders what "super-macro" would look like* ;):D

To all who have commented: Thankyou! :D

Yes, the lens is built-in to the camera, which can switch between SLR mode and autofocus mode. Most of the butterfly pics were taken with macro, but I remember using Super Macro a few times (possibly on pictures not shown here). Super macro simply allows you to take even closer-up shots than ordinary macro. Thankfully the butterflies were a bit sluggish that day and didn't mind staying still long enough for me to get a good shot :p
