i searched for the other thread i made about this ..but it's gone. so here's a new one !!!!
so who's going to it ?

EPIC 2004 – The Living End, Spiderbait, The Butterfly Effect, Kurtis, The Rich & Famous Gold Coast Convention Centre

Forget about booking a bus to Brisbane, rocking up to Robina train station or scrounging for a lift to go the big concerts….Aussie chart toppers are coming to you.

The long awaited Epic 2004 is here! Hot, young new bands performing virtually in your own back yard.

The second ever show at the new Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre, EPIC has organized a triple head-line event featuring THE LIVING END, SPIDERBAIT, THE BUTTERFLY EFFECT, KURTIS, THE RICH & FAMOUS and more live and loud at the centre Wednesday 8th September 2004.

This will be the first huge EPIC line-up to thrill a young Gold Coast music crowd with more to come in 2005.

Epic will include the potent mix of sharp, smart and strong tunes from a decade of chart topping hits and performances from The Living End, as well as Spiderbait, the biggest airplay Aussie band right now.

The Living End one of the mightiest bands in Australian music who’ve harnessed their own propulsive brand of fundamental rock & roll to some of the sharpest lyrics and performances in the country.

Holding the number one spot, Spiderbait drives home their raw energy spunk to make every performance so dynamic you just can’t keep still. They’re the first Australian band to be voted #1 on the Triple J Hottest 100, the band is ready to rock the Gold Coast at the new number one Gold Coast entertainment venue.

The Butterfly Effect return to Queensland to belt out another exciting performance, once again, it all begins here for the boys from Brisbane and the energy of these four hard rockers has to be felt to be believed.

Kurtis from Byron Bay will thrill you with their funk rock style, be prepared and stay tuned for their release of the debut LIVE album.

Familiar in their previous incarnation as Kings of the Sun…The Rich & Famous return to the scene to deliver their brand new sound and dynamic stage performance, they won’t disappoint you!

Promoter, Andrew McManus says “The Gold Coast is starved for this type of show. Now, Gold Coast residents don’t have to travel to see a great rock line-up.”

Get yourself ready for the launch of EPIC 2004 at the Gold Coast Convention Centre, it’s going to be hip, hard and loud!

Tickets are on sale at 9am, Thursday 8 July from Ticketek 13 19 31 or their website www.ticketek.com

well here's a run down of last night....

got down to the venue at 1:30 or so . it was really huge . kinda like the size of the brisbane convention centre . so we got to the venue. and started wondering around inside. we then were aproached by a security guard saying to pretty much get out cos the venue didn't open till 4. so we wondered around broadbeach looking for stuff to do for a hour .then proceeded back to the venue and still no one was there to line up at our door. all the ushers turned up n told us that. "NOTHING" was alowed into the venue . no studded belts. no camera's. no bags. no wallets . "nothing" . so we got out wrist bands and was approached by security guards where they patted you down to make sure u had nothing on you. they weren't even alowing u to take phones in . :/ and once we were in the main seccy said to em that we were alowed to . anywho . onto the show.

we were right up front .. directly in front of the singer. so first two bands came on . the rich and famous . and curtis . both bands were awesome. good old local acts belting out some rad tunes. next up was The Butterfly Effect. i tell ya what .. it was fucken insane. such a awesome band throwing tunes at the kids and they loved it . with the biggest mosh of the night . the front barrier steph n i were on . just didn't seem right . i looked down n saw a bolt missing . so the fence started moving fowards like leaning foward. and a bit worried i waved the seccy over n showed him . and he's running over n pushing the fence up . meanwhile here i was trying to hold the fence up as well .. pulling the fence up back into the mosh. 1000+ ppl vs. 2 of us . is kinda hard thing to do . so more security had to come n hold it up as well.
so once TBE finished a song he's telling the crowd to move back. but u think they'd listen to him. noopeee. and no one would listen to the security either. once TBE finished. a dude got on stage n said to the kids if they don't move back then the show wouldn't go on . so they all moved backwards to allow the security to fix the fence.

apparently the ppl that put the fence up . never bolted it down . so i guess they'll loose their job .
next band . was one to remember . good old Spiderbait . lmao . damn they rock . it's funny . ppl that don't know their music. they'd be grooving then when it got heavy a bar into it they start moshing. twas funny. and it's even funnier when all they wanted to hear was Black Betty

so then The Living End came on . now they were up their in the faves for the night with TBE . they might not have had heaps of new songs . but they still rock .. \m/ .

so who else decided to go to the concert and actually went ?

oh and kids. when security tell ya no more crowd surfing . actually do what they say
cos 6 ppl were kicked outta the venue.
