One of the longest Evanescence tracks made thus far. Ben Moody and David Hodges collaborated on making the piece. The song in the pre-produced stage was originally two tracks. The first was a five-minute Eternal and the last 2 minutes were known as Demise. The two tracks sandwiched Listen to the Rain on Origin’s pre-release original track listing.

Isn't Eternal the 7 minute instrumental that comes right after Away From Me? because it's bridged together.. though the end of Eternal does seem cut.. is Listen to the Rain after that?

Listen to the Rain is a little track Amy wrote for her Chorus. It was originally going to be on Origin, sandwitched in between the 5 minute Eternal and the 2 minute Demise, but then they decided to exclude it from the album and Ev squished together Eternal and Demise. You can find Listen to the Rain on all those P2P networks out there, as well as some fan sites.

I'm sliiightly confused. I've listened to Eternal (6 mins 13 secs) at the end you hear raining (with loud thunder which scares me each time when I have the volume high and wearing headphones lol) and then it perfectly blends with Listen To The Rain. I've heard Demise, but it's like a min and a half long and sounds more like an outro than the other two. Maybe I've heard the wrong song. Go me.

~Angelina No, You've heard the Pre-Origin edition. It was originally 3 Tracks that blended perfectly. (You probably have a European version. Those are the copies with that version on it)
Eternal blends into Listen to the Rain and then Demise starts.(which is really just Field of Innocence's Intro slowed down)
So, Yes. That's what you heard.

Whoa I never noticed that Demise (the end of Eternal) was Field of Innocence slowed down!
If you increase the speed to make it twice as fast, it sounds perfectly like Field of Innocence.
Well spotted.

i can see where you're coming from but they're not quite the same tune, and demise is much lower pitched
EDIT: just got my guitar and played around with em - if you take demise up an octave it does use all the same notes as the intro to field of innocence but they are a different tune...still, well spotted it's an interesting point

Sometimes the thunder scares me shitless (when i have it loud) and i kinda jump but as for the song, wow i love it. If you ever need to chill or calm down listen to this song its just great, it is also amazing in contrast to the preceeding away from me.

on the count of i forgot how to read sheet music, i don't use it. i just listen to the song until i can play it myself. it usually only takes me a few times to find out how to play it. that's what i did for BMTL, BNM, and FA. so yeah, try doing that if you can't find the music.

I have that version too (7:22). Is it the one, true original Eternal? I also love the piano piece there. Is that part of "Eternal" or "Demise"?

I think that Casey (the guy who won Ames' piano on Ebay) played this song amazingly well on the video. At first I wanted to say it was Ascension (sp?) of the Spirit, until Amy's sister said it was Eternal. But it was amazing!

The 7:22 version is the release version on "Origin." The piano piece with the thunder is part of "Eternal" the only thing that's "Demise" is the bass guitar at the end of the 7:22 version. I have both 7:22 version, the original version, "Demise," and the version thats 14 mins long beginning with "Away From Me," and then faed into "Eternal (Original 6 min version)" which fades into "Listen To The Rain." then there's like 30 seconds of silence and the "Demise" makes it's intro.

I still believe, as it's been said before, that Evanescence should redo this song along with Listen to the Rain coming in during the rain and piano part. That would be incredible. Imagine, the first part of Eternal, then the thunder and rain. As soon as the piano piece on Eternal ends, the piano piece of Listen to the Rain begins and then Demise comes in and then it's The End.

You can find it in the Origin section. It's the last song in that section.

I wonder what it'd be like with lyrics. It's my favorite instrumental. I can't vizualixe a story in the music, though. I love storms, which makes it even better.

This was the song that got me into Evanescence. I was randomly searching LimeWire, and I came across it. I thought it was awesome. The thunderstorms made me love it even more though, since I always get uber excited when a storm's approaching.
But yeah, love this song to death. Lost count of how many times I've listened to it.

I just heard this song in its entirety for the first time last night and I loved every minute of it. It is so soothing and beautiful. It is really the kind of song that you can fall asleep listening to. It is one of Evanescence's better pieces of music, and I'm real curious to find out what this song would sound like if it had lyrics to it. I especially love the part in the middle with the thunder, lightning, and the falling rain in the background. That part gave me a scare anytime I heard it because the booming of the thunder just comes out of nowhere. It really gives the song a chilling feel and reminds me a lot of the middle of the night on Halloween.

I have both versions of "Eternal." Pre-release and the final release versions.
I'm actually in the process of writing out a video to this. lol.
I also love thunder storms. I think that's why I love this song so much. It's, by far, one of my favorites.

This is pretty interesting song. It's a long track over 7 minutes and instrumental. (Some) instrumentals are usually boring but this one is NOT.
This is a great instrumental!

I almost never listen to this song without lyrics, lol. Every time it comes on I just make up lyrics to sing to it; I'ma good at coming up with things off the top of my head if I have music going. I've made so many renditions to this song, it's nuts. I love it, it's a nice long instrumental so I get to go on and on and on, lol.
