View Full Version : European Party Ideas!

Hey Europeans!
Some of you might go to the official Evboard Party in Vegas, some of you might not... So me & Amy thought of a European equivalent! It'd be a lot cheaper and easier, wouldn't it be?
This is nothing big or serious yet, we just want to hear your opinions and ideas about this! Perhaps you can mention some places where'd it be held, with some good reasons! Not just 'cause you live there and it'd be easy for you :)
If you look at it this way, Brussels is the most central city. However, I wouldn't choose that one. It's a city you love or hate, and I don't think it's well known enough to get all of you guys' attention ;)
I, personally, would love Helsinki. It isn't located well for everyone, but it is a GORGEOUS city, and I think I'm right when I say the majority here is Nightwish fan ;)
I thought of holding the party at the same time when NW plays one of their big orchestral concerts. Just an idea. Those concerts are held in Helsinki, London, Paris and Berlin. Right?
I think Rome or London would be great choices too. BUT, they are fucking expensive..so keep that in mind.
If you have an idea about the date, go ahead as well! Just..good arguments.
Tell us what you think!!
Before making any big decisions about the location, we should have a poll, ok? So don't take any too early decisions.

yeah ! you have a good idea ! I think that Barcelona will be a good city for the party, because all the fans can go to the all sites where Evanescence recorded "My Immortal"... *excuse for my bad english* :D

Yeah, Julie and me were thinking it would be a good idea. Europe's a big place, so there are many places to choose from. I however think it's best to choose a more central location so it would be more convenient for more people to attend.
Some cities I thought of earlier would be:
London - it seems people like London plus, there would be plenty of guides and as everyone knows, there's a lot to do there
Paris - it's an awesome city with great food, things to do, awesome sites and great places to party
Rome - it's ROME! What more need I say?!
Berlin - it's centralised
Venice - it's just awesome and such an interesting place. May be expensive, but definately worth it
Amsterdam - very interesting place indeed with a lot to do, and no I do not mean the red light district :p
So those are some of the city ideas that I had.
Seeing as this is Europe, and therefore a lot of languages, that has to be taken into consideration i.e. for whichever country we end up in, we need someone who speaks the relative language to be a language guide, to help the rest of us.
Those who speak more languages, please let it be known to either me or Julie and we'll put it in the first post.
European laws mean more things are open to those younger than 21, so we have more options of activities in whichever city we end up going to, if we get enough people interested :)

on the other hand, like ~LittleRock~ said, Barcelona would be a great idea because Ev shot the My Immortal video there

For your records, there's a huge and well organized Portuguese EV community... and they are too far of everywhere. It would be nice to hear about a serious proposal on behalf of everyone who loves the band. Barcelona is not too expensive, good weather, good food and don't get bothered - we can help arrange this for you. Party, food, goth metal bands, bed and breakfast and over all, a very reasonable price.

I think that time of the year would be awesome, especially in London. London is known to be wonderful around Christmas/end of the year :)
London is my number one choice, I think it's the ideal place. Good location (easy for everyone to get to), the language will be no problem and there's lots of stuff to do :)
I like Amsterdam too. Amsterdam is a very cool city, I love it. Lots of water, kinda reminds me of Venice :p Plus it's cheap :)

umm, my reasons for Barcelona will be the city of the party are:
Barcelona is a precious city, In Spain the economy is a lot more cheap comparing with the north countries.
In the city was recording "My Immortal". This well it situated in Europe (for all europe countries). Not alone will go people of Europe, but of the entire world. And they will want to see somewhat significant of Evanescence: My Immortal. Where it would be done the traveled through of all the videoclip.
Barcelona is the most city for the Evparty.:D

BARCELONAAAAAAAA. Seriously if it were to be anywhere, Barcelona would be the only one I'd be able to get to...well maybe London and Amsterdam but still Barcelona is closest to moi. It's a beautiful city and everyone could go and see where Ev filmed My Immortal and stuff. :) I'm interested in it. lol

Great! I've wanted to do a thread like this for so long, lol. (julie, I sent you the PM before reading this haha)
This is an awesome idea, I remember we talked a bit about this long ago but it didn't go anywhere so.. let's do it this time!!
If it's in Barcelona I'll be glad to help in anything, some of you could stay in my home and all. And if it's in another place count me in for planning or whatever. I'm already so excited about this! :p
About the place then:
My top are:
London - I really want to visit this city.
Amsterdam - I love Holland. :p
Paris - it's a beautiful city and there are many activities to do.
Barcelona - i think it's a good place to do it. There is the 'My immortal tour' lol also lots of places to hang around, etc.
Helsinki - I've wanted to go to Finland for so long!
I've voted for Paris but I don't mind at all. I'm sure we'll have fun wherever we do it. :D
And about when, it'd be really cool to do it for New Years' but.. maybe it's too near?
if the party will be in amsterdam or maybe germany
you can count me in!
cause that's all i can offord right now
now the vegas thing is on the move and i'm going to celebrate new years in New Jersey...
but to be honest, even though i can't make it, i would vote for barcelona
that's the city who conects the most to ev, i guess
with the My Immortal fountain
and besides that, hey there's a beach around and nice weather!

Barcelona is looking pretty cool at the moment! My Spanish is rusty, indeed, it's mostly Mexican Spanish at that..... ahh well! I'll learn some hehe...
It's lucky Europe is so varied. In every place there'll be someone to help! Organising properly is seriously not my strong point, although I am good with ideas and stuff!
amy
this might be a odd suggestion
but one thing i would really love to see
and since ev is so gawth :D
what about the dracula castle?
i think it's in romania? or something
which is not that expensive to go to

About New Year, Ony, I think that's too near, yes.
We should give this time to gather votes from waaaay more members first, and then have a look at the results. The more we take our time, the better we can organize this.
And I seriously hope people will not refuse to come just because it wouldn't be organized in their city ;) A little effort never hurts.
Personal thing I think could be great to do (wherever we go): go swimming in of those uhm..you know; a huge park or something with several swimming pools, slides etc :)
Sas, as this is not going to be held before a long time; I think you could be able to save up some money...normally. I'd really love to see you again.

OMG Sas, I love you. lol. I was waiting for someone to bring up the idea. It would be great for me, because I could attend the party, too. It's only about a couple hundred miles away from me, so, yeah...
And you're mostly right, Amy. Transylvania is a north-western region of Romania. *sigh* How I'd love if the EvParty would be held there.

Cool!!!!!
Here how it is from me!!
Rome-the closest to me
Brussels-been before(after the MFVF)
Paris-been before
London-no communication problems
Helsinki-too far
Amsterdam-the land of female fronted bands
Venice-too romantic
So I vote for Barchelona(here I come P&J)
Sas, as this is not going to be held before a long time; I think you could be able to save up some money...normally. I'd really love to see you again.
i'll do my best to be there
my vote goes to Barcelona / Transylvania
london is way to expensive

Wow, this party's an awesome idea!!!
I think Barcelona would be nice (cause of the MI thing, the city-it's beautiful-, the prices..).. my spanish is at the beginnings, but i can muddle through it..
Rome wouldn't be the best choice because of the risk of terrorism (my parents wouldn't let me go, even if it's the closest to me, i don't know what yours think about it, if you're minor)..
maybe we can't have mourningside as guests, but it doesn't matter...

Oooh, I'm in! :D
I have a suggestion though... not about the city in which it will be held, but the day. We want to do this for 2006, right? The album, if all goes well, will be out by March '06. That means touring in europe should begin by Septembre/ Octobre. It would kick ass if we could arrange for a city in which EV were playing, and we'd simply take over the concert, wouldn't it?
Furthermore, if we don't do it in the Summer, tickets will be cheaper _anywhere_ and you can trust money is an issue for a lot of us.
I'm game for Barcelona - I love that city. Plus, it's the home to the My Immortal video, as well as a few Evboarders. It will be important that there is someone of Evboard in the place where we are heading so arranging the hotels and places to visit is easier. London is fine for me too - my bro is studying in the UK so I'd simply take the chance to visit him as well. Plus, tickets to London are insanely cheap from almost every country.
Think this well. We have plenty of time until 2006, so don't vote without debating this thoroughly.

This is a great idea! It'd be really cool to go together to an Ev concert and then hang around some more days. :D And imagine, if the band knows of this maybe we *could* arrange something.
The only problem I see to that is that we won't now the tourdates until the last moment.. and that I see it too far. :p But good things need their time.
And also, I don't know why.. but I fear that they won't tour Spain, so maybe Barcelona is out.
I'm just throwing thoughts in, hehe.
Oh and I def. agree with the no-summer thing. We would pay a lot more for the flight, hotel and all, and I'm sure we could find another date to held it that's ok for eveyone.

I say we should do it in summer still. I don't want to spend my time in the rain, you know. It might cost a little more, but think about, there are plenty of ways to make it the cheapest possible. Food, hotel rooms, etc.

The Summer is still no guarantee for no rain. The weather is not that reliable these days. Plus, if rain is a problem, then so is London. :p
On another note: June and July are generally an impossibility for me as those are the months when I'm up to my neck in exams.
And Ony, WTF?! What do you mean Ev won't tour Spain?! It's one of the biggest market for their music in Europe, so STFU, will ya?! LOL! Plus, I plan on going there to see them - We might even go as far as to organize a tour for the Evteam PT. ;)
And yeah, if we could go to an Ev concert and possibly organize something with the band, it would kick a$$. Not thinking too much about it though, because it's a really long shot.

I didn't express myself well. I mean that, if the party is in a hot city, it should be in summer. It just fits better. If it's in London, rain is acceptable for me..'cause the chances that it will rain are there. But, we shouldn't make it sound like it rains all the time in London, it does NOT. I'd go to London more in February/March something, easter holidays for example. I would have said Christmas if it worked out to be London, but that is too near.

They already 'jumped' us last time! That's why we had to go to Rock In Rio, lol. :p
And about the weather/dates, I totally agree it depends on where we want it to do it. But even if we want hot (Barcelona, Rome, Paris maybe) we could try to avoid the most expensive days (end of july - august beginning, if I'm not wrong). We'd still have a good weather. At least in Barcelona we've had sun (too much, lol) since May with non-stop and at the end of August- first of September it's still hot enough. *is dehydratated* :p

Ev didn't play in Spain on 2003?! But they were heading there after the concert in Lisbon... RIR was a "special" occasion. It's like a really reputable festival, and with with prospects of 50 to 100 thousand ppl comming to watch, it's a good opportunity for any band.
Ok, back to the topic: we've had wonderful weather in Portugal too. June, July and August are CRAZY when it comes to prices. Septembre is a little better. The weather is not so bad then, and for me it's a good time, as it's when school begins and I can totally take a few days off. My worst months are, without a doubt Jan and Feb; May, June and July.
I'd prefer to go by without rain or cold, that much is true, but remember a couple of facts about portuguese ppl these days:
- Our taxes are 21% right now.
- Our minimum wage is 650€ (a high percentage of which is taken for social security).
- My monthly allowance is 125€.................. LOL!
Cheaper is almost a necessity. Life is a bitch, and it bites us all in the ass these days...!

Easter = the absolute worst time of year for me to go, ahahahaha!! I don't care about missing lectures but the problem is that that's the busiest time of year for uni students in the UK, unfortunately, I have exams straight after and many essays due then also, something like 8 essays due at Easter.
Narya, taxes are 25% here! I don't have a job at the moment though really, but I'll need one to pay for this party!!!!
Ev will always play London by the way, just so people know :) London is pretty expensive, but most capital cities are, and through Ryanair.com it's soooooo cheap to get to, especially if you live near a major main airport.

Okay so Barcelona is 1st right now. London & Helsinki are next, but uhm..
Lets look at the prices. I took the example of Brussels, obiously.
(the cheapest price)
flight from Brussels to Barcelona: 63.00 EUR
flight from Brussels to London: 69.00 EUR
flight from Brussels to Helsinki: prepare....375.00 EUR
I love Helsinki to bits, but there's no way I, or most of us for that matter, can afford that. Unfortunately :( I sooo want to go. I'd say maybe we shouldn't worry about the prices right now, and just depend our vote on the city itself.
Helsinki's my first love though, always, and I am gonna see it one day. Maybe the poll will turn out differently than it looks like now. We don't know yet. And then there's London..sigh.
Amy, I agree. A flight to London is very cheap too, there's barely difference. And remember people, we can save up money and look out so that the hotels rooms, food and activities are not too expensive/cheap!! Don't base your whole opinion/vote on the price of the flight. Thanks :)
Phoenix Fires
08-17-2005, 02:36 PM
There are a lot of cheap flight things anyway, we can figure that out nearer the time, although obviously flight prices will influence votes since they'll be the prime reason people will chose places over others.

Why don't we make a list of ideas for things to do, specific ideas for the most popular places, like you do Barcelona since you know it, ("duh amy" you say, "I live there") lol, I'll do London, someone else do another place...
Then people can vote thinking of the activities in the places as well as their various travel costs and stuff. It gives more ammo to a decision, I think.

Amazingly, this is something that would actully be within the "what the fuck are you thinking" range... Definently sounds like if I sell it right to my mom, she would consider letting me go if she came too.
She really wants to go to Europe, so, I have that aspect to sell to her. AND. She really wants me to have the cultural experiance so i have that to sell too...

Because it's easy. Anyway...
I've been thinking. We shouldn't plan any kinds of activities that involve alcohol, or too much alcohol, or anything, because there will be a lot of minors coming and it wouldn't be at all fair on them. Or at least, those things in moderation and with a lot of responsibility!

Totally agreed. We must look for activities and places for all ages as everyone is there to have fun. :D
And I think it's a great idea to do a kind of list with the activities we could do here. I'll talk with Gil (he lives IN Barcelona, I live 'kinda' near), he knows more places and stuff to do.

Waterparks, themeparks?, see a concert, have a meal in a (rather large) restaurant, the MI tour in Barcelona is alcohol free, shop (I'm sure there are cool shops in all these places), sightseeing (there's character in all these places that we can see), or just take over a huge plaza and just have one massive meet & greet with everyone that we've got to know on the board.
Since meeting people is the prime objective we need to have some time, wherever we are, to do that, a couple of hours etc for friends to meet up.

It gives more ammo to a decision, I think.
amy
That is actually a prety good idea!
Before more suggestions are thrown into the bunch, I think we should set a week and say, during that week, _only posts_ about the cities are made with suggestions of places to see, hotels, etc, and prices if possible. For instance, someone from Barcelona posts about it, but you guys can work out behind the stages the full content of the post. Only one post per city. Sort of as a contest. Then, add the links to each post of each city to the first page - mod's job - so everyone that visits the thread doesn't have to skim through the whole thing. Furthermore, it makes this idea of the European meet a little more tangible.
I believe that a profile of each city can be accomplished over the internet, and it would give everyone involved a good idea of what to expect of a certain place. The post could contain everything from stuff to do, places to visit and links to pictures of the city, hotels, prices, etc. If we wanted something REALLY organized, we could throw in a sort of questionary to be filled, the same information for each city so it we can compare and decide.
I guess this does sound complex, but I think it's important to know a little bit of all the places in the poll before we begin voting for the final decision. What say you guys?

I don't think it would be that confusing.
10 cities = 10 posts and as I said before, we should set the categories to be mentioned. It is not fair to make it for one city and leave all the others out - it would be the same as saying we have already made up our mind and this city-profile idea is precisely to present options to people.
An example of the profile's format:
- Name of the city/ country of location:
- Name of our "hosts". LOL!
- Closest airport/ average flight cost:
- Hotel options (names and prices, for instance):
- Average living costs for a week: (cheap hotel + food)
- Country's/City's history (brief):
- Main tourist attractions that could be seen in day/summer:
- Main tourist atractions that could be seen in the night/winter (rain):
- Places to see, people to know (should include coffe houses, bars/discos, restaurants with typical food, for instance - basically, so we know where we'd meet):
- Others (important stuff that does not enter any of the above categories):
Help me out on this please before beginning to get information out of the web. :)

That's not my point. I never said we should do just one or a certain number. I just don't see the point in doing a city that has no votes at all, shows no one is interested. I get what you're saying..but you got it a little wrong. I never meant to say it was a bad idea at all.

That's not my point. I never said we should do just one or a certain number. I just don't see the point in doing a city that has no votes at all, shows no one is interested.
 But that is the thing. People tend to vote for the cities they heard about more. This profile is supposed to present all options, and level the odds of all cities and be pre-poll, though I aknowledge it has come a little late for that, this thread is still young and much can happen.
Imagine that we settle for London. Big city, lots of votes. Then someone suggests a smaller city, that no one has voted for, presents some great activities and then some ppl that voted for London want to go there instead but can't because they voted for London already because there was no information that convinced them otherwise.
I'm inclined towards Barcelona and London, but who's to say that some profile of some other city doesn't change my mind?
Besides, it doesn't take much effort to look into some things online. All we need is a volunteer for each city. It would help if we had Evboarders in the chosen city for sure - I think that should even be a requisite. (hence the "host" category in the profile).

Also, can we not vote based on language? I stated for me, that London would be easy for me, because I speak at a first grade level in french, i speak around 20 at a max. words of spanish, and my german is "get out fast damned jews" if i find the page in the book. (note- my blood is part jewish, do not neg rep me for knowing a comment agaist them in german, i was reading a holocust book when i was like, 9 or 10, and, because it said 'damned' i remembered the phrase....)
My vote will probally go to london, if i do vote (i'm not gonna vote untill it's a little more set that there's a decent chance i'll be going...) because of friends i have in petersbourough (sp)
But, if everyone votes for the country that speaks the language they do, it will ruin the purpose of translaters...
Also, for airports, do the top three closest... or, within 2 hours of the city or so... Because we can still get into the city quickley, and it might be cheaper ;)

Actually I think that those of you who speak English every day are the ones that have it easier. You can go to whichever European country and speak in English and most probably they'll understand you or there'll be someone near able to translate it. So I don't think the language is really a problem. And anyway, wherever we go will be someone from that country with us so.. you get my point, lol :p

I agree, Ony; language is no problem. There are enough people among us that speak multiple languages; So whatever country we go to, there will always at least be one person that speaks the language of the country :)
Plus uhm @ swim_chick not to sound harsh or anything..but Europeans speak English too ;) They'll be able to understand you, don't worry :) English is an international language, we're not from the prehistory or something.

Still, I know from personal experience... not all countries know english. I mean, it's not always easy to find a person that speaks english. In Italy, for instance, they go for French as the 2nd language. However... all we need is someone from the country we are going to. That person, being in Evboard - aka english speaking board - knows english for sure. We all do, so, there really shouldn't be a problem! :) Besides, it's sort of a challenge trying to communicate.
I'm really looking forward to this. :D

About some people in countries not speaking English, it can happen, especially in countries that are proud of their language (France, Italy).
My advice: try to communicate/ask for help to people of a young age. Lets say +-20. Most people of that age speak Engish very well (studies etc).

wow, this thread has exploded since i first saw it :D forgive me for the randomness here...and the length. hey, it is ten pages worth!
okay, for me personally..
London - easiest/cheapest to get to. i'm familiar with london, actually been to a few meets there too. lots of things to do.
Amsterdam - not been but would be somewhere new. i can ride a bicycle and i like cheese (hehe)
Paris - second easiest to get to. been before. know a little french.
Berlin - see amsterdam. would rely on a german speaker to be a guide.
Barcelona - like paris, been before (several times). tiny knowledge of the language, so as above.
Lisbon - see berlin, similar situation.
Brussels - not been but french is used a little more than flemish.
Helsinki - nw came from finland :p don't actually know much about the place though, but could be good.
Rome, Venice - any big italian city would be good. language barrier again.
transylvania - uberly gawth sas, bwaha. keep your fangs away from us though amy.
having been to france and spain a few times over the years, i'd prefer to go elsewhere. same with london although that may be my preference due to the cost. the only other country i've been to is wales, i've never even been out of europe, but inside europe i'd like to go some place new to me. but the main factor isn't the place (they all seem nice enough anyway), it's the people, and wherever's best for the majority. it's a euro party for ev fans to meet up, and i'm sure we can find nice places to go to and find fun things to do wherever we go. as long as i can afford to go i'll be there.
okay, i'll help with london if you want. i've been there a few times over the years, some of them school trips, so i'll have to try and remember where we went. it shouldn't be too hard to find places to go to, and moving across london is fairly simple with the underground and buses, i'm used to it. accommodation would be about £15-20 (20-30€ ? what's it like in other countries?) based on several people sharing a room.
btw, i think the poll should be re-done nearer the date. this is only provisional and there will be less interest nearer the actual date because some people will have things come up preventing them (mostly a lack of funds, which applies to me atm). plus some people may want to go somewhere different than they originally wanted to go to
also, the poll is misleading. people will vote for their favourite place to go for whatever reason (nearest, cheapest, etc) but if they're able and willing to go elsewhere you can't tell that. it'd be better to have some kind of poll where people post in the thread and award points to each place, like 3 for the favourite(s), 2 for the next, etc. plus that way we know who's voted, and whether they're serious or not (they'll have had to have read all the thread and not just stumbled upon the poll and voted).
what about the date? after the place, the next thing to be decided is the date. but for now i'll say i think it should be after the summer if possible, because of exams etc for those still in education and it's cheaper then. also, you have to bear in mind that if it's in mainland europe, us brits aren't used to the sun and we'll burn up faster than dracula ;) how can we look all gawth if we're bright red instead of pale, sheesh!!!1 heh, just so i don't put you off, it doesn't always rain here. it's actually warmer in the south of the uk, it rains a lot more in scotland... and we had a london meet in july and we all boiled, so again that backs up the summer heat thing. even in england it was too hot to find the effort to do things, so imagine somewhere like sunny spain!

That was a great idea with the poll's chris, maybe it would be easier if we decided when would be a good compromise for a general date first, then the people who can deffinatly make it around then can decide a place ?
I will offer to help with the London part if I can (Im pretty sure I won't be able to make any other place in Europe being a poor student) but I may not be the best choice for that since I haven't been there that often.
This is a great idea btw :D

I agree with pretty much everything you said Chris (about the poll)
However, it is normal we started a poll now already. We have to be able to know what city people prefer NOW, and see how the choices change later. It was necessary in a way. We can't keep this poll open to end 2006, you know. We have to put some limits here and there to be able to take care of everything in time! Even though it's one year away, yes! :p But you get what I mean =) Oops, I understand we maybe should've put more choices/cities, but it gets A LOT if everyone wants their home town to be in the poll :)
Hunting you, it's good concerning the location but IMO not appealing to the majority of the group.

That was a great idea with the poll's chris, maybe it would be easier if we decided when would be a good compromise for a general date first, then the people who can deffinatly make it around then can decide a place ?i wonder. the current situation is going to see some people miss out by location, but not by date. the other could see people miss out by date, but not by location. it's a shame it can't be more simple! maybe your suggestion would be better, i'm not sure. it depends which is going to see more people able to make it, which is hard to tell. yeah *stops waffling* any ideas?
oh that reminds me, at the meet you went to, we went to camden didn't we. i'm sure a lot of people here would like it there. at the last meet we went to a club that played mostly metal. they played a couple of ev songs, something like that could be cool as well.

The language barrier is not going to be a problem in any country that we end up having this in. And for those who can't speak the relative language, then learn some phrases, it isn't rocket science :p
Y'know what? I've made my own choice of city now. Barcelona. We can always have another poll later if we ask a mod to change it for us *goes to vote*

Little Rock, where did you search it? Screw Iberia!! They are money suckers!! :p
I found Barcelona-Helsinki flights for 300/400max.
And yeah, there are several low costs companies, make sure to check them out.
Here's a map with some of them (it's kinda old but most of them are still running)

Myep there are way cheaper flights to Helsinki, the price you've mentioned is the best one we can get I think. Which is waaaay better than over the €1000=p
Handy map!

Yep...
most of the times it pays off to stop somewhere else, like London or Paris before heading to your destination. It's sort of ironic, but that's the way it works. Just make sure to book flights that are like... 6 hours in diference, because being independent, and if the first flight is late... you get stranded and that ain't pretty :p
As for the poll, I'm with your guys. Once to city profiles are up, etc, we shouls create a voting sheme like the one CFW is using for the best 64 bands not named Evanescence :D That would work better because even though ppl prefer a certain place, they could compromise and go to another less preferable instead.
Let us hope though that this initial enthusiasm doesn't wear off closer to the meet ;)

okay, although it was waaaaay back, id like to comment that although dracula castle is set in Romania, its actually based on the castle up the road from me, Slains Castle, and is in a crappy little village called Cruden Bay (Cruden=Crud)
anyways. i love this idea. and id love to come.
but it depends on dates, as amys aready said, easter is an aweful time for uk uni students, new year sounds good and im actually not working christmas this year  , but any time after the end of august the schools/unis will be back.
location: london, barcelona, amsterdam, paris and brussels are all great. but i thought helsinki was supposed to be expensive?
plus, im thinking of going to canada next summer, so that complicates things.
sure none of you fancy Edinburgh? hehe.

Two evboard meets in the same year... one in Europe, for those who can't make it to Vegas, and for those who go to Vegas that also want to come to Europe;
One in Vegas, for those who can't come to Europe and to the European that want to attend too...

Well, historically, it is connected to Evanescence, so it makes sense that the meet takes place there :) But it's still early to say for sure.
This thread will remain alive, but the initial discussion has been held. So, there really isn't a point to postwhore. When we come closer to the preparatives for the travell and things to do during the meet, we'll have another boost. ;)

We already have 3 clear fav candidates: Helsinki, London and Barcelona. I bet for a place where local evboarders might help, willing to help find a place for overseas hosting, guide support, party, etc.
No more polls will be useful, because everybody votes for their own city or in the case of Dutchies and Belgians because everywhere, London or Central Europe is cheaper and close.
A second poll among the three main proposals would be fine to me.

So, we are down to London and Barcelona, right? That's fine with me! To one of them I can drive, the other is really cheap in terms of flight costs and I can go visit my bro.
From the two cities, I think the most meaningful for Ev fans is Barcelona.
What about the month of the year? I'd vote Septembre, as it's when school starts so, missing out on a day or two isn't that bad and it's not only cheaper than in the summer, you still get good weather (hopefully).

I'd really love to, but it would be really expensive for me. Being a student, I can only attend one, and since the European is on the right course to becoming great (plus... flight hours are not so many, and I HATE flying... ), I guess I'll stick to this side of the ocean.

I'd have loved to go to the Little Rock party but I haven't even thought about the Vegas one.. Honestly, I think I'll have more fun in the European one. Las Vegas is not a place I want to go being underage, and I know that there's plenty of things to do but it's not the same, hehe. And as I couldn't afford both of them.. I'm happy enough with the European. :D

About September..I don't think that's a good idea. Maybe for you, Narya; but a lot of us start school early September and cannot just miss those days..and it's really not the moment to go on a "holiday" then. Anyway, we'll see. I still think July/August is the best for everyone. I know prices might be a little higher in August and such, but if we plan it not too late (early July, like I've said) It's very likely to be reasonable.

i'll be 21 but i'd rather go to london/barca than vegas.
okay, we're getting all this talk about london being more expensive than barca, but how about some actual figures rather than chit chat? barcelona isn't exactly gonig to be one of the cheapest places in spain, like london in england, but i want to know. if it's cheaper it'll still probably be more expensive after travel for me unless there are some really cheap flights.
planning will need to be done a bit earlier than that julie, unless you mean final confirmation such as booking of accommodation. those dates are probably fair due to the younger members in education.
I'd rather go to Vegas myself, but seeing as next year I have:-
3 months of basic training
3 months of combat engineer training
A trip to Australia to plan and go on
My Mustang coming over
An Xbox 360 (I know it's not essential, but I WILL get one)
I just won't have the time/funds, so Europe it is. A lot of people are saying that London is an expensive place to go to. If it works out cheaper, go to Bristol International or Cardiff International and take a train from there. I had the awesome idea that broken_toy and I can make it a road trip if it's Barcelona. Eurotunnel rules XD.

I think that the dates of the actual party should be based on when most people are able to go and not arrange it around the Vegas one, because veeeeery few of us will be going and it's not fair to arrange it around a few people if it means it'll be a silly time for the majority.

wow i love the idea!!!
i vote for Barcelona :D
if the party is in bcn i'll can go. but if it's in other place... i'll can't go. :(
LOL i'm too young. grr xD

though I live in the U.S. the Vegas doesnt seem like it would be much of fun and I have ALWAYS wanted to go to Europe (hell anywhere in Europe would be fine). being that I dont know anything about Europe (in terms of money and pricing). Is it easy to exchange USD to whatever Spain uses (the Euro? - since thats what I'm going to assume the party will held). Also what are the Legal ages (you know to drink, being an adult, smokes..etc).
I would most definetly like to attend (which means I better start saving my pennies now). I voted for Barcelona since it seems like thats what everyone else wants.

well across Europe the universal age to smoke/drink and stuff is 18.
And i suppose it is quite easy to convert USD to Euros. you can either do it at the airport in the exchange booth places, or like where i used to live, i could get it done at the local holiday booker place [don't really know what to call it]

So wait what you're telling me is that I can go to Eruope and get totally WASTED and its completely legal since I'm 18? wow, I should go just for that.

Well I'm not saying I do it (since it is illegal) I casually drink if I'm at a party and only once have I gotten drunk, but never full out wasted. I find it funny that other countries have LOWER drinking ages than the U.S. the rest of the world must be more responsible than us :o

And ironically, America has one of the highest and worst drink-driving rates yet they can't legally drink til you're 21 whilst in most other countries people are drinking and driving at 18  The world is a funny 'ole place like that.
The thing is the more tighter you make the restrictiosns, the more people are going to disobey by it. You would think people would catch on to that

Yeah you could do that... I like our licensing laws :p I'm not planning on getting wasted at all, in view of the fact that I'll embarass myself in front of people that I mostly hardly know... hehe........

but wouldnt it be better to get wasted in front of people you dont know rather than like your best friends. People you dont know will be like "oh shes wasted ahaha" and then they'll forget it/never see you again but your friends will NEVER LET YOU FORGET IT! they'll remind you all the time how you wore a Bra on your head and danced around to Britney Spears (or something just as silly) :p
