extremely good idea! I don't have any ev covers up, only the real version of hello with harmony on it (but I don't think that counts).

this is way too much for me to check out all at once, I'm glad this is a sticky so I can come back later and listen to all of these.

for anyone who has done a cover or plans to do one, I'd like to stress how important filenames and file info are, if you make a cover, you want your name plastered all over it, contact info if you'd like, your website, whatever. if someone downloads a file called "myimmortal.mp3" and it has no file info, they might think your voice or guitar work is WONDERFUL but in 6 months they won't have a clue who you are. this goes for any musician who gives out their mp3s, but it's especially important on covers, because it's not like someone can just look up your lyrics to find your website.

I just finished recording a Farther Away cover. Its not my best work, and as Axlino said, without drums it doesn't match the awesomeness of it. plus it took me a few hours recording this. i kept messing up! And I kinda went real fast when the chorus part starts off. GAH! Its not my best work but its a farther away cover. I'm gonna send it to GK to record vocals ;)

Yeah...with my computer program, it's hard to record melody and then a harmony, so I couldn't do the harmony myself...I'd like try it with you...until I hear my voice and go "ewwww." hehe. I did that with Hello...this one's kind of a test for me, if I can do well on a higher register--I do better low. ...if I do well, I'll send ya what I record.

Hey guys!

This is my first real original post. I am still getting used to this board, but I would like to share some of my work with all of you. I love Evanescence, obviously. Finally, there is a band that has real vocal talent and an original sound. That's hard to find these days!

I've done some covers and I will be doing more soon.

These are hardly perfect, but I think that there are nice things in each of them. If you are a musician, you will notice that there are a few intonation and rhythm problems.

The most important thing to remember is that I am a soprano and I am working on strengthening my voice. It is still somewhat weak and shaky in the lower range.

my computer was acting weird last night. i listened to it this morning. i've actually never heard the original "farther away." i haven't heard most of the songs on the origin album yet. i guess you can say i am a rather "new" fan of evanescence. but, from what i hear your band really seems to have it together. which instrument do you play?

you say you're a ska/rock band...it wouldn't really be fitting for evanescence music, but still, the way you did Farther Away...I could almost hear either the lead guitar or the voice part as a trumpet instead of a guitar...that would make for an interesting cover.

Please do not submit 15-second clips. These are called works in progress, and that is what your own personal thread is for. Samples of a full verse and/or chorus is okay, especially if it's your own instrumental work; an electric guitar solo or something. Those are extremely cool.

Be original. Look at the index, and cover something that hasn't already been listed half a dozen times. Extra brownie points for covering something that isn't even on the list yet at all.

Since all the talented musicians come to this thread, I'd like to make a request. An accurate acoustic My Immortal would be just grand. There's a few covers that I have on my hard drive, but one has electric over it, and the other sounds great but the verses/chorus and bridge are missing parts or have parts added.

If any talented guitarists out there want to give it a try, I'd love you forever. If not then I'll make with what I have.

haha thanks, I put an instrumental My Immortal cover on there too, from the live version. It's not really done, and i mess up towards the bridge alot, but that's mainly because the bridge part is mostly improvised because I haven't taken the time to learn it by ear yet. And also my 61-key keyboard can't hit the notes that need to be hit during one part of the bridge. =p

EDIT: I re-recorded My Immortal and it's nearly perfect. Go download it now! :p

I use Audacity by Antbytes Audio. It's very simple. No learning curve at all.

This might be pointless to ask here but has anyone here used a program called band in a box? If so... was it a good program? Or are there better ones out there? I've heard of it and I wanted to get it for my brother's birthday. He needs something to help him write since Berkley is already giving him stuff to work on even though he's not a student there yet. I was thinking it would help him... but I don't know much about the program or others and when I research it all I find are sites to buy it.

I am amazed by the talent of the Evanescence fans. All I've ever managed was a guitar version of October but that is not too hard. All in all I think that those voices from the covers are so good that - whoever sang there - should really consider doing that professionally.

There are so many that I have found so good that I have been using them to record my demos. I am actually trying out to be a professional singer. I don't have any other good musical talent (just singing and songwriting) and I thought to myself to use the instrumentals that many of you have done. The recording's nothing like as good as the original (how could it be?), but I think it's pretty accurate. It's the MIDI that Karina made, but imported into GarageBand (the program Tetsujin used) so it sounds more like guitar. It will be on my site (http://www.onlinerock.com/musicians/praetextus/) within the next day (having a little technical difficulty), and if you want me to add anything to it, just tell me and I will.

There are actually some instrumentals of some of my MOST FAV. songs and now i can actually do what i have been trying to do forever!!!! They are really cool! and not exactly like the original, but close to it, which makes it so eerie and bone-chilling.

hello everybody,I like to record some home-made demos and stuff,
including some ev songs,and I'll like to post my version of "tourniquet",
check it out and tell me what you think!
Before saying "you suck!",please think that I never took lessons,I play
guitar,bass,drums and some piano because I love music and I'm learning
myself listening,playing and practicing since several years ago,besides,
it's a home-made recording made with the computer's mic and regular
software like "goldwave" for recording and some program called "guitar fx box",
because I don't have an electric guitar or a bass,so I use that program and
the acoustic guitar sounds distorted or like a bass (and I play in the 6th and
5th strings only for bass tracks).and the "drums" are some boxes I place
in a drums-like layout and I hit with pencils,and the "platillos" (what's the
english word for the thing that crash and charleston are?) are some tin plates.
I know it sounds pathetic,but listen to the recording before judging.
The idea was to record the vocals track after that,
but I'm ashamed of singing :( ,seriously,and when I sing,
I do it like a duck or a chipmunk and saying "I hate people" all the time instead of the original lyricis,(I know,I need psycological proffesional help)
but you don't wan't to listen to my duck version of my inmortal or my
chipmunk version of going under or bring me to life...
btw,if somebody wants to use it to record vocals,ok,you are welcome,just
aknowledge the music tracks were recorded by me and it's ok.

forgive the musical errors,I learned the song by ear,and I never took
lessons of any instrument,so even being able to play music is an
achievment.
anyway,here are the links,I made 2 versions:

-stereo mix with midi-synth bass and durms.
(I'm ashamed of this,I did it just as a test,but I feel guilty like a traitor to
real music,I kinda don't like synths and using them for stuff that can
be done with real instruments)

guitar tracks,I mixed them and then I added bass and drums "live",

I was lazy,I didn't want to do tracks and then stereo mix,so this sounds
mono and very raw,but I like it!,I like it a lot more than the other "50% fake
recording"!!,this one sounds better for my taste,not in a technical point of view,the quality sucks,but it has more "feeling" or more "soul" than the
other one that sounds just flat and plastic to me. (maybe I'm subjetive
because of my anti-synth thing and because I know how I recorded it,
maybe somebody not subjetive woul like the other version more than this
one).
