Basically, it's like the report a post feature. If you think something is very inappropriate or breaks multiple rules or whatever, leave it a negative reputation mark. If you think something is very good, like say for example, a suggestion about how to make a feature of the boards better, you can leave it a positive reputation mark. With the negs, I'm assuming mods/admin will keep track and delete/edit the post or warn/ban the author of the post as necessary.

And I posted instead of PMing because I assumed other people were wondering as well.

I've noticed that a bunch of threads that were locked on the old board suddenly became unlocked, and now people are posting in them again....

Yeah, we couldn't port over the locked threads as they were.

another thingy i noticed:

when you're viewing the main forum index (where all of them show), to the right of each forum in the "last post" column it says what thread was last posted in and who the author of the post is. but when you click the thread link to see said last post, you don't always get to the last post of that thread. sometimes you get directed to the last post of the last time you checked the last post in that thread and forum or even sometimes just somewhere in the middle of the thread.

at the bottom of everyone's post in the bottom right corner there are two buttons: the reply button and a quick reply button. the reply button takes you to the more elaborate reply section and quotes the post you hit the reply button in. the quick reply button directs you to the quick reply box at the bottom of the thread where you type to your little hearts content.

Something I've noticed is that, after I've read the last unread message in a forum and go back to the main index, it won't immediately mark the forum as being completely read. I either have to bo back into that forum and then out again or I have to refresh the main index. Not a big deal at all, mind you, but it seemed a little strange to me.

Yeah, I've noticed this too...I've looked for a solution, but vBulletin doesn't support this at the moment.

Is ego search totally gone? Not really spotting it anywhere and that's what I used to see if there were threads of interest to read.

And I have a strangeness to add as well. The site doens't appear to remember what threads I have read with any consistency, occasionally using the 'mark forum as read' feature works, and then two minutes later it resets it self to the way it was when I logged in. My cookies here appear to be working fine in other sites.

OK, problem: "view first unread" DOES NOT WORK. I tried to use it on the 10-page thread about the new boards in the EvBoard.com forum, and it literally skipped a whole page. I didn't even have my computer on between 3:45 pm and 9:25 pm, so I don't know how it thought I read a post at 6:30 while I was in class.

I saw a spice girls poll like that! It literally had all these crazy-ass poll options...I nearly fell out of my chair laughing.

I'm just starting to notice a bit of strangeness that only seems to happen randomly. Maybe others are seeing this as well. Occasionally I'll see the URL of the picture a user has in their signature rather than the picture itself...for example it'll show up like: http://www.somedomain.com/pic.jpg and it'll be hyperlinked. Now I've checked my user CP options and I have it all set to show avatars, signatures and so on. I first noticed this last night when I was viewing blue's picture thread. I noticed it was with a post with an attachment in it and the sig image was just showing up as a hyperlink. If I went to another page in the thread where she didn't have a file attached, her sig image showed up just fine. Perhaps there's some sort of issue with attachments and sigs? Then again maybe that was just coincidence.

Ok, My only question, is that the birthdays at the bottom. When you goto the old site there are more birthdays. Then when you come here it only shows up as two people. I didn't know if there was maybe like a user clear out for people that have never came back or what?

This isn't necessarily a strangeness, but it's something I thought I should point out since I just noticed it - the default for having the board notify you when you get a new PM is turned OFF. So if you're a dummy like me and haven't turned it on, you won't know you have any PMs waiting for you :)

If you take a little closer look you'll notice that the down arrow icon http://www.evboard.com/images/shady/buttons/firstnew.gif to the left of the topic says "Go to first new post" which would be the first post since you last visited the thread.

The left arrow icon http://www.evboard.com/images/shady/buttons/lastpost.gif after the poster name in the Last Post column takes "Go to last post" you to the last post in the thread regardless of how much of the thread you have read. If there has only been one reply since you last visited a thread then they will take you to the same place.

To go to the very first post (regardless of if you're read it or not) click on the topic name.

The down arrow icon is useful if you only want to see what you have not previously read.

Interesting, while Log Out doesn't do what you think it would do (require you to log in again when you come back), it does have the same affect as marking all forums read.

i had a problem with this too and lireal helped me out. basically what you have to do now is go to 'tools' in internet explorer, then 'internet options' and delete your cookies. then reload the board and when you sign in you have to remember to unmark the 'remember me' option, otherwise youll keep having to delete your cookies.

Are you using the back button to navigate the forums? That can happen (from my experience anyway) with using it. It also might be a cookie problem or a bug with the VB software.

Nope. Not using the back button. It happens even when I close IE all the way down and then load it up again, but only on a few random threads.

I don't think this is really a problem or is really strange but because I'm a stuck up perfectionist, it really annoys me when I see this kind of thing. In the Store's Bank when you are depositing points there's supposed to be a "confirm" button. I may be seeing things but when I go to do that I'm pretty sure it is spelt "CONFRIM". Which is kind of funny.

My bank doesn't work. I can't get into it but others can. :/

You have to withdraw your money from the bank before you can spend it. You have to take it out of the bank and then you will be able to make purchases from the store. You can put the points that you don't use back in the bank when you're done.

Well, it says you have a negative amount of points. Maybe that's why it won't let you in the bank. It says you have -800 and some odd points. That's the only reason I could think of why it won't let you in there. I'm confused, how can you have a negative amount of points? I didn't know that was possible. Did you get a bunch of neg reps recently? That's strange. :confused:

I dunno, you might want to ask a mod on that one. But I'm thinking that's probably the reason you can't get into the bank.

As far as being robbed, could they rob you for an amount which is more than you have? I would think that they could only rob you for the points that you have, not enough to put you into a negative number.

This might just be me, but whenever I load a page on the board only about 3/4 of the pictures show up, like smileys, avatars, linked pics, etc. I can right click any of them however and do show picture and they come up. I don't have this problem with other websites.

i got those same messages this afternoon also... it's probably cause of the move and such

It's called Pruning.

Old posts are deleted after a certain period of time. There is no set date, just when the Admin feels like doing it.

Without it, I would probably have 5,000 post right now :eek:

I can't receive PMs. At all. I get the notifications in my email, same as usual, but nothing new is in my Inbox. I have a little over a dozen messages saved, so it has nothing to do with the max limit. :confused: :( :confused: :(

this might just be me, but every once in a while, usualy for about 30 minuts at a time, i cant access anything on this site. i would be looking at one page, and click 'next', but nothing would happen. so i close out the window & try reentering the homepage. still nothing. i tent to sign on pretty late, so at first i thought the server shuts down for a period of time each night to get a clean reboot or something. till i realized the times were inconsistant. any thoughts?

Still works for me. Unless someone else can confirm it doesn't work for them anymore I'd say it's something in your browser.

Hey, I'm new here and I read through all of the stuff about these boards but I'll still have one problem. I'll reply to something and my replies won't be visible on my computer for hours... sometimes entire days. I can try refreshing or logging out and back in or leaving for a few hours and then coming back and it still will not show up. I was just wondering if that had to do with me being new and therefore closely monitored because I did read about that... or if this was my computer doing strange things. I know that with all message boards there is a delay, I've just never encountered delays that can span 3 days before. Anyway, that really is the only question I have regarding this site. So I won't be new, persay, but relatively new as far as actual time spent on this site.

I don't know if this is a pointless question or not... but I have problems logging out. I click log out and it brings me to a page that says that all cookies have been cleared... so I close the window and turn off the computer and when I come back later (which could be hours)... I'm signed into the site. Am I not logging out correctly? Is my computer being weird? And is this something that I have to worry about given how strict these boards are (and I like the strictness of it actually)... I just still worry... Anyway, I thank you for your time and effort in asisting me with this matter. I'm sorry I have to bother you.

I use MSN Explorer. Then my privacy settings are set to medium. Any lower and my computer goes slightly haywire... I don't know why... but it does.

Do you have a popup blocker or something similiar installed? Might even be a firewall installed that is causing that. Has it always been like that or just recently? If it started not long ago, try to think about what was installed just before it started to happen.

I notice it will do that to me if I don't let the page load fully first. If I wait around to make sure everything's loaded then it all works fine. Are you doing that? Are you running any programs that would have a similar effect?

Thanks, but I turned off my firewall and I don't have a pop up blocker. Nothing has been recently installed. It just brings me back up to the page, even after its been fully loaded.

Edit- I figured out it was a virius and I just did a system reboot, which sucked because I lost all my info, but thanx for all the help!!! :)

Users who existed on the old version of the board (phpBB) but never logged in. The new board (vBB) stores the dates differently so instead of never they show up as the epoch (beginning of time) which happens to be midnight December 31st, 1969 GMT in this case adjusted to your time zone and showing up as 7pm. As for having a rep, everyone starts with 10 rep points and goes up or down from there.

I would like to repost a question I posted earlier.

I posted in the Dutchie thread, and when you check who last posted, right now it says Sas. I can't see her post, or the one I made late last night. I've refreshed the page about a million times, but it won't show the last two posts made there. In all posts made by me, my post from last night in that thread is listed, but whenever I click on it, it just brings me to Sasmod's last post yesterday at 7:50 PM. Can somebody maybe check that out?

I've been having the same problem. I figured out that if I press reply and then scroll down once the page loads, I can see the newest posts because it shows the last X amount of posts. I've only noticed it with the picture posting thread though.

I tried what you said, and it works...Kind of. I still can't see Miles D's post. Or well, the pictures in it.

So far, it's only the Picture Posting thread and the Dutchieland thread for me. :(

Well..I tried the Amy thread..and its not working for me either. I don't know the dutchie thread though..so I didn't try that one. Does the dutchie thread have a bunch of photos? Maybe you need to clear you internet cache? Mine was doing something like that earlier. It seemed like my computer wanted to load the pages of evboard that no longer existed. Who knows... I hope it gets fixed for you soon.

We were talking about how half of the Dutchies are gone now. A lot of new Dutchies registered a few months ago. They're gone now :(
And the Dutchie thread doesn't have a lot of pictures at all. I don't think it has any really. I don't get it. :confused:

the nightwish thread didn't work for me after posting once, when it got a few more replies however it seemed to be fine. emptying my cache didn't help though.

I've been getting a lot of page cannot be found errors. It happens randomly, but has occured when I click on a thread title, the little arrow icon to see the most recent reply from the main EvBoard window, and on the numbers to go to the next page of a thread. Any ideas why this may be happening?

I get the same (for instance, clicked quick reply and there's you're quote). I don't mind having to erase the previous reply, but I guess it means the quick reply box is not working for me.

And for 5-10 minutes, I got the same prob as chii-chan with the error and then the site builder.

God that Site Builder is irritating.

The issue with the sitebuilder is that the new off-site backup process is taking place during that time, and the site needs to be shut down. Nothing to worry about. I will try to have the time changed to earlier in the morning.

Actually, I notced the same thing once last week. I was the last poster in a thread, and if I clicked on the thread it had my post (i am not in queue or anything). But, when I went to the forum page, it had "Last post made by X", and it was the post before mine. I figured no big deal just a little glitch, but it might be something to look into....

it only happened that 1 time. haven't noticed it since then.

I was just trying to edit my "my stuff" page thing, and I accidentally ended up double posting because I cant edit, and I can (well, could) only delete posts, and I can only make posts in the Quick Reply box. So I figured instead of editing it to make a new post and go back and delete the old one so I wouldnt have a double post, and I tried to delete it and it wouldn't. Idk if the board is undergoing maintenence or something, but everytime I would try to post normally, it would say that I didnt have 20 characters even though I did.

As with the previous upgrade, it is probably advisable for you to clear all your cookies (or at least those related to evboard) and log in again to ensure you have a clean slate. I was having some weird stuff in Firefox, but after I cleared my cookies it seems to be better.

It only works with the standart editor, when i use enhanced interface, the 20 character thing comes..

But I still can't use color/smileys, though I cleared all cookies..

Nope I've tried that. Deleted cookies everything. And I was already clicking on the actual 'Edit' button. Can't go to advanced from there, because the button does nothing when I click it.

It's definately a FireFox issue. Although I have popups, javascript etc etc allowed, so I can't see what the problem could be. *hopes I don't have to edit this post :p *

Actually that's a point. I probably should upgrade FireFox seeing as I don't have the latest version. That should work, I'll try it and see what happens.

The smiley are working for me without clearing anything on Firefox 1.0.7, that's the lastest version. I was log out this morning, maybe that's why it's working for me now.

Click on the User CP link in the upper right corner of evboard.
Click on the Edit Options link on the left panel.
Scroll all the way to the bottom and find the Miscellaneous Options / Message Editor Interface area.
Set that option to something OTHER than Basic Editor.
Click on the Save Changes button.

I tried it with all of them before, it doesn't work.. currently I use the standart editor.

I always use Netscape, and I've been having problems editing with it too. When I switch to IE everything works fine as well. When I get a chance, I'm going to need to clear my cookies and see if that helps.

If you have thread subscriptions, turn them off then turn them back on. Sometimes the system needs a kick.

I've been having a problem with getting logged out at random times. I'll click on a post and I notice its taking longer than usual to load and then when it does, I'm no longer logged in. Sometimes it happens several times in one session. I'm not sure if this is related to the upgrade or not.

It says GMT-4 to me. Make sure your DST settings are correct for your area.

EDIT: (agentpudge) because the Welcoming committee actually didn't have the postbits banner working before the upgrade. Their banners were put in place as a part of the custom user title. Since their banners weren't part of the postbits hack (that suffered as a result of the upgrade) they are still showing.

The correct thing to do in that situation is to PM (Private Message) a welcoming comitee member (Yellow usernames) or a mod (Red usernames), I'll also be happy to help you, if no members of the mentioned groups are on.

Most of the time your questions are answered by reading the FAQ's or the stickies, though. ;)

Entering a forum (any) showed threads that were not "new" based on my last visit time with the First Unread button next to the threadname. Clicking on one took me to the first post in the thread. Reading threads in a forum seems to cleaned up the confusion in the forum, but other forums still had the New Threads mark. Hitting something like 5 or 6 forums, and everything was suddenly up to date and correct again. :confused:

I use 1.0.7.

Firefox 1.5 was just released try it (http://www.mozilla.com/products/download.html?product=firefox-1.5&os=win&lang=en-US) and see if you still have the problem.

OK, I just installed 1.5, and it doesn't seem to be working...meh.

Are you using any extensions? Try creating a new profile from the profile manager without any extensions and see if you have the same problem.

ive got it set to no subscriptions

and yes it does happen to threads i reply in, but not every time i reply to a thread just every so often it happens, but it has been happening quite a lot lately

Are the daily subscriptions still not working, or is it just me again? 'Cause I still only get the instant reply as it's the only one that works...

I tried to access the Archives and I got an error saying that the archive index is no longer on the server. Did it get wiped out in the crash last year?

yeah that has been out of service for awhile now, I'm not sure if it was wiped or not

when i accessed evboard yesterday from me mobile phone it brought up the admin tools under a few threads just thought i'd let you know

When I go to see the Members List sorted by Reputation and I click either the link for the next page, or the "page 2" link, it won't show the next page. Instead, it shows the second page of members by alphabetical order. :confused:

A few things seems to be broken now :(

I just noticed something else really weird is going on.
Usually when I see people's colored usernames, they show up as whatever color they picked with a white line underneath. The past few minutes or so the line keeps changing colors. Sometimes it's white, and then it randomly switches to whatever color the username is in. Here's ateniux's username as an example.
I'm using Firefox by the way.

I'm seeing odd lines through pages. There usually isn't more than one per page, sometimes there is a white dash in some odd place, other times there is a thin black line through a part of the page. It sort of looks like video memory corruption but where it moves depending on what page I'm on, it's definitely not that. I also noticed that going to the top page from within a thread caused one of the white dashes to appear at the top of the main page for a second, then it disappeared and one of the black lines instead appeared through the PM link. SS included:

see the problem hoopys got, well my computer dose that on a mass scale if i turn it on first this in the morning. it only dose it in winter too. it has been like this every winter for 3 years but it gos away in a matter of minutes. any thoughts?:confused:

Nah, it's not a driver problem, I'm running the most current drivers from ATI and it only happens here, and only just started in the past day or so. It also changes it's location from page to page, but tends to be in the same place on a given page.

Yeah I actually managed to figure that out late last night, but decided not to post about it. Hmm.
I just removed the "-do_getall" and the "-pp_30" part. That seemed to work too.

I've been having trouble with uploading avatars as well. It doesn't matter if I upload it from my own browser or if it is from Photobucket or Imageshack..they all say invalide file.

I've noticed that every once in a while (like once every 3 or 4 days) I open a thread on here and I get a really strange gitch like this:

It goes away if I refresh the page.

I use firefox and I know it can be tempermental sometimes, but this is just weird.

Anyone else ever see that?

I've seen the same thing happen every now and then. I get the idea that it only happens when I scroll down while the page is still loading, but I'm not sure about that though. I'm also using Firefox.

It does the same thing to me sometimes too. Refreshing the page always fixes it.

The board acts weird for me a lot lol.

For the past two days, I haven't received any email alerts from EvBoard. No Subscribed Thread notices, no PM notices, nada. They aren't going to my spam folder, either; I checked. Has anyone else had this problem? Is there some way to fix it?
