OK, let me see if I can address all of the questions so far:


(1) camera used - well I have several that I have used to shoot Eva in the last couple of years, but the last two batches (Charlotte and LR) were taken with a Canon EOS 300D. In Charlotte I used a 300mm lens and in LR I used a 90mm lens. All things considered I will likely stick with the 90mm; the 300mm is too much telephoto when you are in the pit area, which is about 8 to 10 feet from most of the action.

(2) Why no monkey photos? Well for the same reason that you don't ever see photos of Amy playing piano or singing "Broken" (except for a couple of rare ones from otherseas in outdoor festivals); the industry standard for all established bands and labels is that you get to shoot the first three songs only. That is the case for everyone. For example, John Lecompt's father couldn't stand in the pit and shoot photos beyond that first-three-songs limit. Every once in a blue moon, the label might request a certain photographer to do more than three for a specific reason (like getting Amy on piano). I have never seen that exception but one photographer said that it did happen to him once for another band at another show.

(3) Camera vs. photographer? I would like to think that it's about 25% camera and 75% photographer (lol). I have been shooting since 1977 with a ton of different cameras in a ton of different situations (everything from photojournalism to weddings) as both a hobby and, at times, a second job of sorts. I also teach photography at our school.*


* I know that I am strange and don't fit the stereotype of the "dumb" jock football coach. Ask any of the evboarders in LR and they can attest to the fact that I don't really fit into any "box." My interests are about as varied as they come (i.e., Jack of all trades, master of none). I hear all the time... "you're odd," so I am pretty much used to it.

I pretty much gave up on Terry or Rocky. Eva's show on this tour made extensive use of a smoke machine and Terry and Rocky were nearly impossible to see last night early on (at least from a photographic sense). In Charlotte it was a bit easier b/c the venue was outdoors and the smoke blew away faster.

I hear Ju-ON will be out soonish, can't wait. Ring wouldn't have been so scary if I hadn't had to spend the night crashing out at a factory unit to keep an an eye on it's security, and the first thing we notice when turn on the tvis the screen's static like in the movie.. way to scare the fuck out of us.

On a side note LC, those are some sweet pics. Hope Ev get to see them themselves. To quote Samwise Gamgee, "Well Sir, if I could take pictures like that, I'd call myself a phtographer". Or something along those lines :P

Hey, quite cool pics coach. Yer a pretty damn good photographer and its a bloody shame that yer press pass didn't let u go shutter crazy for the whole show. I would love to have seen the kinda pics u could of taken for all of those pranks that just filled the show. Cause it was a great circus\concert... but hopefully other evboard peeps will have gotten some of those pics anyhow. Can't wait till mine are developed! :)

I went to four concerts this summer and (of course) the best one was Evanescence. And that says a lot cause Sting and Dave Matthews Band aren't that bad. But honestly, I was sad that I didn't bring a camera because it would have been great to have a few pics to remember it by. Granted, each concert I went to restricted you from brining anything in. Heck, DMB even restricted you from brining blankets and lawn chairs in for the lawn section?!? It was pretty cool to see the absolute lack of commercialism in the Evanescence concert. People were allowed blankets and I think to some extent cameras, but I may be wrong on that last account. It was also nice to not be bombarded by "buy more Coke and buy more Trojans" as I walked out the door. Sad thing is, DMB was extrememly commercial. I was even waiting for them to stop between sets and show "Buy a Ford" or "Buy Budwieser" ads.

You know, I happen to like the video to "Everybody's Fool". Oh it says a lot!

Oh I digress! Anyways, thanks for the pics, they were great. If anyone has some of the Saint Louis concert, I'd be thankful. I'll also make sure that next time I have a camera with me to be able to contribute to this ausome board.
