I listened to the tracks on the site some time ago, and I gotta say I was surprised that the quality of the music was so good. I'm interested in which software you use? Are you sequencing stuff in the computer (ie using Fruity Loops/Acid or similar programs), or are you using real synthesizers that you record INTO the computer? Are you using sample CDs and, in that case, are there any you'd like to recommend?

All in all to be honest I found the style of the songs really cool, but the songs weren't THAT good in my opinion. Of course I didn't give them THAT much attention either, I'll listen to them some more! Good work!!

kind of a mixed message from ya fisken uno. but, thanks for the listen either way.:) The thing to remember is that I made this stuff without a big time production studio. The stuff you here on the radio has tons of money poured into it and a team of people mixing it. This is all just demo stuff I did by myself.

with that said: I use Logic, Reason, and Recycle. Acid and fruity Loops only layer loops. You can't really make your own stuff, only layer other peoples loops. I also use a real keyboard and Guitar.

Not exactly true about Fruity Loops and Acid. I've used Fruity Loops a LOT, and what you say used to be true. However the most recent versions (now called FL Studio) can handle VST instruments and all kinds of samples. I think you could even record stuff with it, but I haven't done that so I dunno if it's any good in that case. For recording I've always used Cubase. So what I do is basically create backing tracks in FL Studio that I export into Cubase to record upon.

I don't know that much about Acid because I've only tried it briefly, but it seems to work pretty much the same as FL but it seems to be much more focused on LOOPS. I've never liked using loops, I'd much rather use a good drum machine than a drum loop even though it doesn't sound as 'natural'. But if I wanted natural drums I'd sure as heck go into a real studio and record REAL drums.

Cool, you're using Reason. That's the proggie by Propellerhead, right? Aren't they a swedish company? Gotta try it out. Your music sounds absolutely brilliant, so nobody could tell it's home recordings, bro!

I'll explain what I meant by 'the songs not being THAT good'. Often when you fiddle around with these cool programs you sit and work and create music that sounds extremely cool with lots of effects and stuff. But when you sit there with just an acoustic guitar or a piano, suddenly the songs are not that good anymore... NOTE that this was the impression I got when I just listened to it but I didn't listen to it for very long so it might as well be that I didn't give it time enough. I PROMISE I'll check the songs again!!!

I checked them out from the thread Emanon posted a while back, they are pretty good, but I havent really listened to them in a while.

Fisken Uno, dude, you ROCK! I just checked your track and it's awesome! I make my drums in Reason and import them to Logic. I have a TON of Logic plug ins for instraments like: Trilogy, Stylis, Trasher, etc. I also have a bunch of sound clips (like some of the sounds in Idyll) I'd love to chat more with you about this! my screen name is Narrow207 for IM. and dude, you should join my forum and start a thread there.
