I know i've been a thread whore today... restoring the things I perceived to matter the most on evboard

Just have one more today... the MUSICAL NUMBERS.

----

What are your favorite Musical Numbers from television or film?

Mine are

1. "Teaspoon full of sugar" from Mary Poppins... because I tried to re-enact it a few times when mom gave me meds as a youngin'.
2. "Memories" from Cats. I LOVED THAT SONG. It's so haunting and peaceful... it takes over me.
3. "Zoo animals on wheels" from the Tv show Get a Life. It was just funny and stupid. Most of all... memorable. We're zoo animals... on-wheels! :D
Last but not least... "Circle of life" intro from The Lion King. The opening Title Credit goes *bam* and is about the most emphatic thing I've ever seen. It's even been reproduced on South Park once... imitation is the biggest form of flatter.

Ok... what's y'all's? Please repost. :)

The usual suspects:

Wizard of Oz: "Over the Rainbow"
Singing In The Rain: "Broadway Melody"
Moulin Rouge: "Elephant Medley"
Fantasia: "Wizard's Apprentice" (or whatever it's called...)
Dumbo: "Baby Mine"

Controversial points:

Raging Bull: "Cavalleria Rusticana"
A Clockwork Orange: "Singing In The Rain"
Reservoir Dogs: "Stuck In The middle With You"
Mulholland Drive: "Jitterbug"
Blue Velvet: "In Dreams"

Post Scriptum: Andrew Lloyd Webber is, without a doubt, the antichrist.

Oh God, I haven't even seen Mary Poppins or The Sound Of Music. Or The Wizard Of Oz. I think that's a musical, sort of, isn't it?

Anyways, I like pretty much all the songs in Grease. And all of the ones in Seven Brides for Seven Brothers, and Calamity Jane. I love those two movies.
And of course, The Nightmare Before Christmas songs.

EDIT = OMG, how could I forget. Eddie And The Cruisers. Especially Season In Hell (Fire Suite), and... I can't choose a favourite. lol. You have to see this movie. It freaking rocks. And Michael Pare looks mighty cute in it, at the Palace Depression, drools.

Wicked has to be my favourite musical, my favourite song from it has to be Defying Gravity just because it relates a lot to me (minus, of course the thing about the Wizard etc etc)

Other favourite from it:

No Good Deed
The Wizard And I
Popular
What Is This Feeling
For Good

I could listen to them all day, And most of the time I do

Idina has the best voice I'd say in the musical, then Kristin

The Muppet Christmas Carol. How could I forget this one. I love all the songs from it.

One More Sleep 'Til Christmas gets me so excited about the whole Christmas season. Even if it's in the middle of the year when I hear it, lol.

There's magic in the air this evening
Magic in the air
The world is at her best, you know
When people love and care
The promise of excitment is one the night will keep
After all there's only one more sleep till Christmas

The world has gotta smile today
The world has gotta glow
There's no such thing as strangers
When a stranger says "Hello"
And everyone is family, we're havin' so much fun
After all there's only one more sleep till Christmas

'Tis the season to be jolly and joyous
With a burst of pleasure we feel it all right
It's a season when the Saints can employ us
To spread the news about peace and to keep love alive

"Merry Christmas, so long!"

There's somethin' in the wind today that's good for everyone
Yes, faith is our hearts today, we're shinin' like the sun
And everyone can feel it, the feelin's runnin' deep
After all there's only one more sleep till Christmas
After all there's only one more sleep till Christmas day

I really liked When Love Is Gone, but it's not on the DVD.

There was a time when I was sure
That you and I were truly one
That our future was forever
And would never come undone
And we came so close to being close
And Though you cared for me
There's distance in your eyes tonight
So we're not meant to be

The love is gone, the love is gone
The sweetest dream that we have ever known
The love is gone, the love is gone
I wish you well, but I must leave you now, alone

There comes a moment in your life
Like a window, and you see
Your future there before you
And how perfect life can be
But adventure calls with unknown voices
Pulling you away
Be careful or you may regret
The choice you make someday

When love is gone, when love is gone
The sweetest dream that we have ever known
When love is gone, when love is gone
I wish you well, but I must leave you now, alone

It was almost love
It was almost always
It was like a fairy tale we'd live out, you and I
And yes, some dreams come true
And yes, some dreams fall through
And yes, the time has come for us to say goodbye

Yes, some dreams come true
And yes, some dreams fall through
Yes, the time has come for us to say goodbye...........

Defying Gravity - Wicked

When performed onstage right in front of your eyes, this number will take your breath away. Even if you're not a fan of musical theater this number will touch you. I can't describe in words what takes place onstage, you have to see it for yourself. If there is one reason why you should go see Wicked, it's this scene.

If we're talking about movies, countless songs in Disney movies from the 90's.

As for showtunes, Defying Gravity is my favoritest. Other ones from Wicked that I like are Popular and What Is This Feeling? I also like numerous songs from RENT: Out Tonight, Another Day, and Finale B are my favorites.
