In my newspaper today it says $28.50, nothing about general admission. My parents both went to San Jose State for college, so I'm going to assume they know something about the venue, and I will ask when they get home. :D

Cool. Worst case scenario they say no, so I'll put my video camera back in my car. It's a really tiny Sony MiniDV camera, so sneaking it in shouldn't be a problem.

My concern is me getting smushed around by fans which would make stable video recording impossible.

Okay, so...with general admission there's no seats?? I went to the Event Center's website and looked at the seating chart for concerts and it looked like they put chairs on the floor...but I dunno. I hope we get to stand and dance and jump and bounce! ;)

Shivercide asked about the seating chart, I have been there and the whole center is open to the general admission people while the seats surround them. Its a great place to go to a show and I cant wait to hear the new version of "My Immortal" live.

it's great to be on the floor and muscel your way up to the front , but the only bad thing is you can get really squished and get really really sweaty, but its worth it to get that close to Amy and the band!!

Alright, I might as well get involved in this post...since I finally found a job and should have the money to hit this concert...

Tickets are still available...lucky me. Now I just have to make sure they don't interfere with any of my shoot dates.

What is it with SJSU? Last month they had Neil Gaiman, and now Evanescence? Man, if they had Dennis Miller (who's in SF tomorrow), that'd be the hatrick...for me, anyways.

To give a possible answer to a quesion I saw, I went to go see No Doubt and Black Eyed Peas at the Event Center a couple of years ago, and the doors opened two hours before show time. The line was long before I showed up, though, and I imagine you people will probably be skipping church (umm...some of y'all go to church, right?) to be there in the morning. There weren't any reserved seats at that show, and I don't imagine any this time either. In fact, other than the stands for the sports games, there weren't any seats: It was an open floor and one big mosh pit.

Off-topic, but I'm glad I didn't get tickets to go see BFD on my birthday...$100 a ticket for just one band I wanted to see? That would have made for an even worse B-day than it was. I don't do many live shows for myself, and haven't done many since my last girlfriend. It takes a band whose music gets under my skin to want to go see live, and Evanescence does the most since the early nineties.

A couple of questions, though, for all the regs:

1) Any word on whether or not Ben will be back on tour by the time the band reaches San Jose? Hopefully he will be. My experience with music is that the passion certain people put into their instruments make for the best shows, and somehow I don't think it'd be the same without him.

2) Is there going to be a board get-together at some point? So far, Wind-Up says Ev will continue without Ben, so I expect them to still play the concert. Only time will tell, of course. Northern California is not good luck for them, I suppose.

Yea, things happen, and I understand that...but two times in a year in the same town?

I'm not trying to knock on Evanescence at all here, but the best tour bands often do their best to make up shows they miss in a town on tour due to unforseeable circumstances: Pearl Jam, RHCP, Nirvana back in the day, and Tom Petty all made special trips back when missing even small shows in the area.

It just sucks when I make the effort to go to live shows once or twice a year, and it seems like every other one is cancelled or 'postponed indefinitely' or so on and so forth around here. *sigh*

It's now official...every date in November and December is 'postponed', (except for one in Mexico...what's up with that???) and they don't seem confident they'll get rescheduled, as they're now offering refunds. The ticket networks try to avoid doing that if at all possible, and won't offer refunds for simple rescheduled concerts. or events.

With the band still scheduled to go on a far east tour of Australia and Japan until February, it likely means that once again west coast fans will not get to see Evanescence live.

I know the band needs their downtime, and especially after the events of the last month, no matter what happened....but what I don't understand is why it seems that the U.S. fans are getting the short end of the stick while the band (or the label) seems so intent on European and Asian tours. I'd think they'd want to build a fan base domestically before worrying about becoming a top act internationally...but that's just me.

BTW, saw in the Chronicle a little bit on Evanescence...they seemed to take it as a forgone conclusion that Ben and Amy were going out before the breakup...but I wonder if the fact that Amy is now apparently dating Seether singer Shaun Morgan - one of the other bands they were touring with - had anything to do with it. I hate gossip, but I'd be disappointed to see something so petty be the cause of the second straight cancellation of west coast dates. (Until a date is rescheduled, this is a cancellation to me, not a 'postponing.')

At least, if this is all true, we can take solace in the fact that two bands featuring ex's (No Doubt, the White Stripes) are two of the best in the biz.

Okay, peeps, there is a big difference between real life and what is said to reporters or when on camera. Public life vs. Personal Life. Let's keep both separated, okay? The reason for the cancellations/postponements is not because they wanted to "write." It is a cop out if anything. Just like you don't say, "Martha and Jack are separating because Jack was sleeping with a goat, a fireman, and a nun when Martha walked in one day" -- they say, "Oh, Martha just went to visit her mother with the kids while Jack stays home because of that big project at work."

There are reasons why Ben is not playing with the band and there are reasons why tourdates keep getting cancelled/postponed -- and those reasons are Ben and Amy's alone until one or the other decides to share with everyone else. So, let's end the speculations and get on with waiting for real news.

And Brute, you're a little late to the game here, but I'm sure if you hunted, you could find all the info you want on Ben, Amy, and Seether somewhere on the boards. Keep looking.

So at the Ticketmaster website, if you look at the listings for ev, the san jose show still has "Sun, 11/23/03 7:00 pm" listed, as opposed to "canceled" for the Fresno and El Paso shows, for example, and "Date TBA" for the LA show.

So, are we SURE the concert is postponed? I'm assuming Ticketmaster haven't updated their site. I don't live in the Bay Area, so I haven't been able to listen for updates on the radio.

tickets can be returned at point of perchase, as it says on the ticketmaster website. id keep em if i were you, until we have a definite new date or a definite cancelation.

I have booked a double suite at the Marriott San Jose Airport for the night's of the 12th through the 15th of February. Checkout is on the 16th. The room is $109 a night, divided up amongst us it should equate to being very cheap.
