I did a search and couldn't find any topics about Final Fantasy. Any Final Fantasy video gamers out there? What is your favorite Final Fantasy? Least? (I hope someone here has played a Final Fantasy game, or I'll just be oh so dissapointed)
(If this is already a topic please feel free to close this)

WAHOO! YES! Someone plays Final Fantasy at this board, sweet! Yea, my favorite is 8. I've played 2,3,7,8,9,10. I haven't beaten 7 because I'm so damn lazy, but I got really far, hahaha. But my favorite is 8, because I love Squall, he's awesome.

Yea, 8! (I'm sure if other Final Fantasy fans were here they would disagree, I fight with my friend over which FF is better. He loves 7 I love 8)

8 hooked me from the start and kept me in. i had to restart my ff7 files several times before it really drew me in.

Yea, I loved the music in 8, and the charachters. And plus Edea was so cool, finally an evil female villian (and she was possessed). FF8 had an awesome ending, and great movie scenes throughout the game. I love Squall and Seifer fighting at the begining, the scars! BLOOD! Haha, just kidding.

ROFL! He does look like Michael Jackson I never realized that! Oh god, I'll never look at him the same *shiver*
:morning:
I'm really tired, but this board is so addicting. Exodus should sell Nicotine patches, but call them Ev-otine patches so perhaps I could get some sleep and get off the board :D

Three had the best cast and story. Nine had the coolest character design. Seven had the best music and overall feel.
So, my favorite's still Seven, even if only for Sephiroth alone. But Chrono Trigger wil always be the greatest RPG ever. ;)

Yes, all the guys I've met, love 7 the best. I think 7 was really good (some great charachters) but I hated 9 so much. I wanted to kill the charachters (Freya was okay, Quina was ..., and Vivi rocked) the main charachters looked like they were 12, it just bothered me. Zidane just got really annoying really fast (cocky bastard...haha just kidding). And 3 is actually my 2nd favorite because of the fantastic story line, and Kefka was an awesome villian. He never had any purpose for evilness, he didn't hold some grudge against the world, and he wasn't casting revenge, he just wanted to take over the world and I have to respect him for that. He was just such a hilarious classic, original, villian.
And I agree Crono Trigger is one of the greats!!!!!
I do quite enjoy Final Fantasy, but I'm not liking where the series is going. FFX-2 is scaring me. The spin off series aren't going to be that great. My hopes on FFXI aren't high. o_o* Leave the series alone a year, Square. Do something new... or a new Chrono sequel!
I really enjoyed FFX (*teared at the ending*), but my favorite is FFIX. I don't even know why I love that game so much, but I do. It's one of the rare games that I can play over and over again without tiring.
The older games were enjoyable as well, but very few games manage to captivate me as well as the Chrono or Xeno series. Must have the next Xenosaga!!!

FFX-2, I screamed when I saw what they were doing with it. I read something in a magazine, and there was this huge picture of Yuna, but she was really slutty looking, it scared me. And I heard aeons might not be in this one? And Yuna has a gun? Final Fantasy isn't Final Fantasy without Summoning! AHH!
And I don't plan on playing 11, just because it's online. I don't want to pay monthly to play it.
Aeons definately will not be included in FFX-2, but I'm okay with this as it goes along with the story. I just really don't approve of all of the girls turning into sluts, and the creators saying this is because of their "new-found freedom". Umhmm. Yuna, at least, was raised very well and was very quiet. I just cannot see her willingly wearing the clothes they've got her in. Bleah. I also saw some video footage from the game... which involved Yuna... singing... pop music. >.< *thinking he'll be making sure nobody's around when he plays this game* I don't want to be seen. It's embarrassing.
i like FF7 the best too, its the first FF game i ever really played. FF8 was good, its a good second to 7. whoever said they hated the characters in 9, i completely agree with you. freya was so ugly i could not stand to look at her, zidanes tail really bothered me, the fact that garnet looked about 7 made me wonder, steiner was just...i dunno. vivi was awesome, quina was....quina....
FF3 was damn good as well, i really enjoyed it.

I think I would have to pick FFVI as my fav. (the Opera House scene= OMG) though it just edges over FFVII. I still need to play FFIV-V when I get the time. FFVIII is probably my least favorite of the PS1 bunch, thats not to say that I didnt like it though.
I rather favored the characters from IX, Amanos character designs are superior to Nomuras, IMO. Also, I think that Nobuo Uematsu's music lost a step from VII on. Try listening to the FFXI Grand Finale soundtrack disc, NOTHING from the new ones can touch that disc, with the possible exeption of One Winged Angel from VII.
Though as far as favorite RPGs go, Xenogears takes the cake by a long shot. Plus, Yasunori Mitsuda is probably my favorite composer over Uematsu. Mostly due to Xenogears, Xenosaga, Chrono Trigger, Chrono Cross.
Mitsuda is a genius. His music is one of the biggest reasons why I favor the Chrono and Xeno series so much. While Uematsu's music fits beautifully in the games and the scenes they're used for, a majority of it is unbearable anywhere else, particularly in the latest installments. (FFX anyone?) Mitsuda manages to add the zip a scene needs, and is still great for listening outside the gaming world. This, I think, is particularly evident in Xenosaga. When I first heard the soundtrack I was worried. The music seemed too orchestral and dramatic to work in a video game. Somehow they pulled it off, the only problem being that the soundtrack is tiny and a few songs get overplayed a bit too much. Oh well. Quality over quantity is best, I suppose.
On the issue of FF charactor designs... I prefer Nomura. I like the more realistic, and even fashion oriented charactor designs her prefers. Amano's art is beautiful, but I can only stand so much of his ghostly looking people, and his charactors are never rendered well in the video games. When comparing the original art and the actual game footage, you can barely tell there's any relation between the two. Of course this is the designer's fault and not Amano's, but even so. If Nomura's charactors look more exact in game form than Amano's, I prefer Nomura. Amano is more cut out for the artsy, museum type stuff I think, anyway.

Si. I really love the way Mitsuda works in a celtic tone to some of his music. I also heard the soundtrack to Xenosaga long before I ever played the game, I was never really worried about whether or not it would work. I know he has a couple of non videogame CDs out, I need to track em down.
As for Amano/ Nomura, I think Amano's designs work far, far better in the FF's which emphasize a fantasy tone. Nomura fits more with the technological/ steam punk settings of FF 7, 8 and to a degree, 10. I've seen Nomuras designs for FFXI and while I know it is a MUCH different type of game, the characters just seem a little uninspired.

I have FF VII, VIII, IX, X. My favorites are a tie between FFVIII and FFX. I haven't seen the preview to FFX-2. I want to see if it would be as good as X. If not.... oh well.... I'll still end up buying it

I used to be FF fan, but after FFIX I just lost interest in the game. I stopped finding the game challenging. As for my favorite, I would have to say FFVI, and my least would be FFVIII and FFIX.

Yea, I thought 9 was insanely easy, ten was pretty easy too. And I'm not looking forward to FF X-2, or 11. 11 is online and my computer sucks, I like the "old" fashioned video game controller.

Oh man, I am lovin this, this is the first place that I have seen where I am not the only one that LOVED FF8. 8 was my favorite till I played 10. I didn't really like 7 that much (I am beginning to think I am the only person on the face of the planet that didn't like it). I really liked 9, but I liked it as a stand alone game because it really didn't fit the Final Fantasy feel.

I'm bringing this topic back from the DEAD! And I'm going to be making a poll now. The best Final Fantasy... BWhhaha... Umm, before I make the poll, could someone just double check and make sure I have everything right?
Final Fantasy
Final Fantasy 2/4
Final Fantasy 3/5
Final FAntasy 7
Final Fantasy 8
Final Fantasy 9
Final Fantasy 10
Final Fantasy Tactics
I haven't played ff 1, and I think 6 wasn't released in America?
And ff 2 and 3 were for super nintendo, and 4 and 5 were for playstaton. Do those match up?
Fave final fantasies:
FF8, and FFT
I don't care what people say about FF8, I loved it.
I don't really have a least favorite at the momment, but in the playstation games it would have to be 7.
My adore Final Fantasy IX. I know a ton of people thought it was retarded, but it was the only one that held my interest long enough to get me to beat it (until X), and is one of the few video games I'll gladly replay. X is my second favorite, and after that VI.
This'll probably get me killed but... ugh... FFVII has got to be one of the most over-rated game in the history of video games. :?

I'll agree with you there. Sure it was awesome and "ground breaking" when it came out, but... bleah. The story didn't get to me much, the ending sort of dissapointed me. Plus there's the whole graphics issue, even though graphics don't bug me too much.

Woo, I thought I was alone in, not loving FF7. I love 8.
I agree with Aila. The graphics kinda bothered me too. And graphics usually never bother me. My favorite (tied with 8 I guess) FF is 3, and it didn't even HAVE graphics.

yeah, in FF7, I could get past the graphics, and the crappy sound, but the story wasn't really that good. It was a whiney guy with an Identity Crisis.
I really liked FF8 because it talked about all the time compression and stuff, It just had a really great storyline to it.
X is my favorite though. It had the story, the graphics and the music. Greatest RPG right there (Besides the Lunar games of course).

thnx possesed, finally a topic to show my frreakinnes for FF...
FF7 is the best of all... it's got the best story (trogdor sorry, but if you didn't understand it... you can't appreciate it :d)... there's a lot of people who wouldn't really know what happened, you have to really get in the game and think about it to get it.... you'll probably hear people talking about how cloud was a weak char (check his sword... how can he be weak) and a clone from sephiroth (lamest thing anyone could say about cloud...), but FF7, had a great music, whenever i hear any midi (specially the ones when sephiroths slaughter everyone at shinra, dark cool music) memories from ff7 come back to me...
best villian and hero... hardest one to beat from the playstation games... i'll go there in a second, i'll make a review of each FF from playstation... and some others....
there was the FLAWLESS MATERIA SYSTEM... i mean with it, i could beat any strategy, cloud's the best and this is one of the main things (don't try to argue, i have batteled FF freaks before 8) ) then the cool mini-games, sidequests, the getting chars, the chocobo raising... (best one... not another FF game has had one as good as in FF7...) the intrincated story... it was great
FF8, the most shallow and the worse, it's got good graphics... a main char who most girls LUV, cuz he's handsome and misterious (only cuz of this, not real good qualities), can be beaten at lvl 1 (yes even ultima weapon at lvl 100)... it had some good things, some good side-quests, the card mini-game (very good one BTW...) the SeeD thingy, which was a great asset... it was A GREAT GAME, DON'T GET ME WRONG, but the worse from the PS ones, GREAT characters, Zell hehe cool, Edea cool char, but the game quality, not very good...
ok FF9, this was a good game, back to the Job kinda System from final fantasy 1,2... well a lot... the learning system with the weapons it was cool, you really had to be in the game, not to miss the weapons (cuz at last part, you couldn't visit some places :? ), then the mognet thingy, which was kinda cool, you know keep your mind in a lot of things at the time... now the main char, the hero... well not as masculine as i wanted... lotsa secrets, like the friendly monsters side-quest, the auction thing, the garnet life and real name thingy, the summons were great, cool FMVs, the trance thingy, i didn't like it too much, it got back to 0 at end of fights when activated, even if not used (nother reason for FF7 to pwnzor)... the excallibur 2, chocograph and ultima weapon thingys were quite challenging, it was kinda cool, back to the chocobo stuff YEAH.... it's not the best in my opinion.. but it's quite cool and entertaining...
FFX... last FF, my expertize area... quite good, a lot of finding out to do, the sphere grid with the jobs (thnk god for jobs) so you could ACTUALLY build up your chars as you wanted... the mini-games sidequests were cool, the storyline kinda cool, and confusing at first... lotsa things apart from the main stroylline to do (celestial weapons, al bhed stuff, blitzball...) so if you really wanted to finish it, now it would be a long as time...
"All the guys I've met who play FF games, hate 8. I've met one guy who likes 8. But I know a lot of girls who love 8. I'm not saying all girls love 8 and all guys hate it, it's just something I've noticed. I've had these FF fights so many times with the guys I know. But we all agree 3 is better than all of 'em. We still have the 7 and 8 fight (and an occasional 9 fight, I still think it sucked). 10 didn't do much for me. The graphics ruled, but I couldn't stand Tidus and Wakka and the story wasn't to die for. Auron kicked ass though."-Possesedbythesquirrels
agree with the comment on FFX... the monster arena was quite cool, the worse things about this game are:
1) when you get everyone stats to 255 and life to 99,999 (can't get MP to 9,999 with other things...) everythings ez...
2) can be beaten without using summons, sphere grid or customizing...
3) last boss in the main storyline... really really sux... the one before that (braska's final aeon) is way harder.... and more entertaining...
ok FF6 was great, the kinda job system was cool, great chars, great storyline... terra, cool, mag was cool, long game, and entertaining... it was great
FF5 well it was kinda cool, but the crystal thing, was from FF4, so ff5 and 4 were... just ok...
lol won't go to the other ones.. they're old, coool, and were the first, but old, and pretty much obsolet by now...
FFtactics is great, whoever enjoys strategy games, and final fantasy games, and job system, buy this one... now for FFx-2 it will be kinda cool, i didn't like the pop star job, and the reason that it will be kinda like charlie's angels... will be cool that there will be more options (moving in fights, and finally jumping *WOOHOO*)
well that's it for my review on final fantasy games... hope people like it... have a fun time reading it and remember...
DISCLAIMER: THIS IS MY OPINION... AND A LOT OF GOOD PLAYERS AGREE, BUT THIS ISN'T WHAT EVERYBODY SHOULD THINK, OR FOLLOW... that said... thnx for reading, hope you enjoyed...
FFX-2 looks to be nothing but fanservice with a cute little story just for the "girls", and it'll probably suck. *Lulu isn't a main character! #^%$@(^ to that!* But I must say, that j-pop opening theme gets stuck in my head all the time, and I of course had to download it. The opening movie is kinda cute too, but... should FF games be cute when the cuteness isn't really Chocobo oriented? *or SD oriented. FF9 gets major pluses for how CUTE everyone looked* XD

@DarkArchangel:
Dude, I fucking understood the storyline of FF7, it wasn't that good. It didn't have that good of a set of characters. I mean, what the hell is a fucking DOG gonna do in battle. Then you have a drunkard with a ship, a black guy that thinks he is bad ass, a big tittied girl, a fucking marshmellow with a bat on his head, and a damned guy that has an identity complex. Sure he WAS a clone, but he made different choices, and turned out to actually be different. The only thing half-way meaningful in that game was when Aris got chopped up. And she was supposed to come back, but SquareUS didn't program it in. Sephiroth only looked cool, other than that he was a panty waist. I HATED the materia system. It wasn't goot AT ALL. The only thing that this game had over FF8 was that you didn't have to FORGE your own weapons. That did suck fat nuts. And yes, I also thought that in FFX, Yu-Yevin was a terrible main boss. Jehct was much harder than Yu-Yevin. I still think that FF never should have gone "Futuristic" that does kinda ruin the whole fantasy element to me.

I've played MOST of the FF games. I've not yet bought a PS2 (but I will eventually, perhaps in December or something) so I haven't played FFX.
I absolutely loved Final Fantasy VII. My mom surprised me by buying the PlayStation and bought that game too. Graphics were absolutely stunning (even though you look at them now and they seem much less, but who really cares when the game kicks so much ass?), and I can honestly say it was the first game to legitimately SCARE me. Sephiroth = coolest villain ever.
All the others I've played I enjoyed a lot, nothing quite as much as that one though.
Love the Chrono games too, HOWEVER I've not played any of the Xeno games... which is quite tragic I do believe.
Aaaaaaaand one last thing. I still listen to MIDI versions of songs from various RPGs on occasion. There was once a phase in my life where I was obsessed with music in Final Fantasy and other games.
*shall now read the rest of this thread and relive some damn good memories*

Yes, that is quite tragic.
Incredibly tragic, but at least you've played Chrono.
I'm pretty much with Trogdor on FFVII. The Materia system was awful, the story was a yawn... but probably the worst was the charactors. I hated Cloud with a passion. Same with Tifa. And Barret. All of them, dammit. The only ones I could tolerate where Red and Vincent, just 'cause they looked cool. Bleah.

this only proves to me you're like the other 100 guys i've been arguing with before... let's make some corrections here *sigh*:
didn't understood the storyline cuz of this:
Dog, nah, he was a descendant of a warriors race, his dad was believed to be a coward, but then he finds out he wasnt, he died protecting his village, and it would be more like a cat, cuz tiger is linked to cats, not dogs...
drunkard hahaha, man if you knew about final fantasies, you'd know he's the coolest Cid, in every game (don't ask why, i dunno...) there has been a Cid, in this one he was a pilot, owner of a rocket, and yeah he was drunk, but he had some GREAT THINGS...
black guy who IS a bad ass, which has a complete story, even a friend you have to battle... i'm starting to see this: you reduce FF7 chars to nothing :?
big tittied girl haha, ok let's see, Rinoa, Garnet (dagger, sarah whatever...) Yuna... Lulu... can't name Rikku, but anyway, in EVERY GAME, there has got to be a hottie... besides they have a big story together...
that marshmallow was a puppet controlled by a guy in shinra who actually saves your life and THE WORLD, by getting the black materia (yep... he's useful allright...)
HAHAHA CLOUD A CLONE... man i could write you the whole cloud story, the 165132015461063146 reasons that are named in the game, that let you know he isn't a clone... but hey, if you REALLY DIDN'T GET THE STORYLINE, you won't get it anyway... and as i said... lamest thing to say about cloud... and you said it...
oh you missed the great flower girl, who heals you, and dies, and makes everyone sad (i've seen 4 out of 5 people cry when she dies...) oh and yeah, SHE WASN'T SUPPOSED TO COME BACK, people would have liked it better, with she dead, would have a greater killing sephiroth feeling that way, and they would get deeper in the story....
materia system, if you can't really think a sec to arrange it, isn't our problem, it has been the best way to arrange stuff, and even have jobs without the jobs being an option...
sephiroth didn't only look cool, he was the BEST BADASS EVER... you see, Kuja was cool, but if you can't see thru external looks well, you'll say he was gay... the gay one was seymour from FFX... best 2 bosses were kuja and sephiroth...
now when you say about forging that was actually pretty good... look stuff you mentioned not to like make the games cooler, cuz you can actually take more decisions, and make your OWN GAME, this are hard games that require some brains into them... if you don't like hard games, don't buy FF games and discuss about them...
it would be like saying chess sux, cuz i don't get it, or just don't like it... nope it doesn't suck and on an artistic and gaming levels, it would be better than any blackjack game... which i'm sure A LOT OF PEOPLE like...

actually in the japanese one, Aris did come back. And also, I don't remember where, but you can go in and see her ghost somewhere. And the junctioning system was WAY better than the materia IMO. and the ONLY thing cool about sephiroth was his model, other than that, he sucked fat FAT wang. He didn't do anything cool in that entire game except stick his sword thru the throat of the shinra president (i think thats who it was, i haven't played the game in a while). Kuja was a faggot because he wore a fucking Purple thong (I didn't find this out, one of my perverted aquantances did). Cid wasn't great, he had great possessions, but not great abilities. He was ok with the lance. Berret sucked fat wang, he was always getting pissed off and shooting his little gun hand at people and it never did anything to them. Wait, wasn't it Zak that Cloud was the clone of? either way he wasn't his own person. he did come from someone else, i do remember that. again i haven't played the game in some time. I forgot about Vincent. He did look rather cool in the red trench coat, but he was really weak.
These games weren't hard at all. When I first played thru FF7, it took me only about 27 hours to complete it. I had no problem beating the game. I have heard about people complaining that Sephiroth was too hard and all this (playing without getting that bullshit "knights of the round") because of that meteor attack. I beat him on my first try. Just use a high level regen, assign one person as a healer, then have 2 attackers. My friend got to him at lvl 54 or so and couldn't do much damage to him, so he ended up killing him with coins! FF8, that was too easy because you leveled up too fast. FF9 was WAY too easy because you got an overly excessive amount of cash. FFX wasn't really hard either. Jehct was the only semi-hard thing about it.

haha lotsa more things that show a lil degree of ignorance... (remember ignorance isn't a bad thing, is just lack of knowledge...)
ok:
Aeris DIDN'T come back in any version AND YOU COULDN'T see her ghost, yeah i know you've heard it tons of times but never had some time to check it out... you can't bring her back by getting all the weapons drops, neither by going to the same place where vincent gets his level 4 limit... it's all a bunch of lies...
junctioning... NAH... it was SIMPLER, not better, you could make a lot of combinations (i could hit myself, and heal instead of kill me... hit 4 times, summon 8 times, make all summons in a row... you just needed to know why... duh...)
sephiroth didn't suck, then again you show shallowness, saying that Kuja's gay and not even playing the games another thing that shouldn't be done... sephiroth actually's got a great storyline by himself, being good, then going insane, killing shinra president (yeah, STABBED HIM, didn't cut his throat) and he was WAY MORE BADDASS THAN ANY OTHER FF VILLIAN...
barret, not berret, besides, it's a tipe of personality... not that he was stupid... *sigh*
CLOUD WASN'T A CLONE... when will people get it  ... he had Zack's memories and personality, for certain things that happened, oh and BTW i'm 100% sure you didn't know sephiroth is actually dead throughout the whole game... did ya??... i know you say you did know... but i'm sure you didn't...
Vincent weak... HAH... his limits, were great, he was badass, he could heal himself... man... i'll just say... LOL at you...
now 27 hrs... i get it now... you didn't even PLAYED ff7, you just played thru the main story line, you didn't even played mini-games, sidequests, got to know the characters, checked all the neat stuff... and I'M SURE AS HELL you didn't beat the weapons... (maybe ultima... but not emerald or ruby...) and don't say you did, cuz there's no way you could do ALL THAT in 27 hrs, i'm even wondering if you really got the 2 chars you don't really have to get (yeah vincent and ??? hope you know...) do all mini-quests, go to all the places those 2 chars force you to go, and be strong enuff to beat those 2 weapons in 27 hrs... if you say you did i'll start asking you stuff, you won't probably know and may end up as a fool...
the "meteor" attack wasn't a meteor lol... but oh well...

We are all entitled to our own opinions when it comes to video games. I enjoyed all of them equally for different reasons. Now... when is Evanescence ever going to come out with a RPG?

dude... you are one sick puppy... I love you man!
As for me FFVII is still numero uno
VIII I thought was lame (though the card game was cool)
IX impressive, but a bit too much hand holding (too easy)
haven't played X
used to have an awesome rare VI from Japan
still have FFI for original Nintendo (bwah-hah-hah-ha)
Kills me to admit, but I actually cried when Aeris died in VII... (getting a little ridiculously into the game)
Coolness factor: I named my cat after Aeris 8)

I never said that I beat all the weapons or did all that shit, I think 170 fucking hours of sidequests is just insane. I thought the game would get redundant after a while, so I didn't do it. pluse i played the game back 7 years ago, and have played thru only half of the 1st disk since then. because I thought it was so lame the first time I played thru it. and I never said that I DIDN'T play thru FF9, because I did. He wasn't that good of an evil boss. FF9 shouldn't have even been considered an FF. Although I did like the fact that it went back to 4 chars on a team, and that the cut scenes were a bit funny. and i didn't say that sephiroth CUT shinra president's throat, I said STUCK IT THRU is throat, because when you see the sword sticking out of him, it is thru his throat.
I did know that Sephiroth was dead, but I don't really remember why, or how. I think it had something to do with Jenova, but There again, I have not played the game in 7 years.
On account of Vincent, he may have had cool limit breaks, but I like characters that actually ARE EFFECTIVE when playing, and not just good for an every-once-in-a-while shot.
and it may have not been a "meteor" attack, so to speak, but when I say that, I am referring to the attack that has a cut scene of about 45 seconds and does about 4k damage to everyone.
Another thing that pissed me off is that when I had the items for the lvl 4 limit breaks, it wouldn't let me use them. I had all the level 3 limit breaks for everyone, but it still wouldn't let me use the items to learn the 4th ones.

well make those 170 hrs, 80 hrs and well that would be fine... lol FF9 had so many things that make a game a final fantasy game... it should have... the sword it's stick thru his back...
now the jenova thing... well jenova's got to do with almost everything in the game :P
now concerning the vincent thing... materia makes any player effective, he had a great level 4 limit... now for the level 4 limit breaks... there are 3 posibilities:
1) you were trying to make a char learn a limit that didn't belong to him/her...
2) you didn't have the 2nd level 3 limit break (not in every case)
3) well your game was just fucked up...
there could be a fourth but i don't think anyone would have guessed this... you could actually jump the 2nd limit break of each lvl, and maybe if you didn't have a lvl 1 limit break, you couldn't learn it....

No I had 2 for each level on both Cid and Cloud, and had both items of Highwind, and Omnislash, and it wouldn't let me use them. It said something like, cannot use this item. and it wouldn't let me.
The game could have fucked up on me, that is a possiblity. FF8 fucked up on me and I couldn't use magic when fighting Ultimacia because it wouldn't let me do the thing where you have one party on one set of lifters (on the ground) then you bring in the other party to put on the other lifter (that was up in the air) and lift the other part up to fight a monster to gain a new ability. So, I never gained the ability to do magic in the castle, but I whipped her ass all the same.

if that's the reason.. i'd have to ask if you've ever used gameshark, it tends to fuck up games... if you don't, and 2 games fucked up, well consider checking your PS, cuz 2 games fucked up wouldn't be such a coincidence...

I never use a game shark. I think cheating is for people who can't actually play the game to begin with. It might have been the playstation. It was quite old. But I have one of the new psones and also I recently got a PS2. But I lent out my FF8 to a person a while ago and got it back all scratched up and I am so pissed off about it because it doesn't play anymore, and I haven't gotten around to getting a new one. Not even the Disk Doctor helped it. Every time I have tried to play it, it froze right in the middle of the Squall/Seifer fight.
Also another reason that I liked FF8 better is because I could relate to Squall better than I could Cloud. Both are kind of similar, but Squall is more "me" than Cloud is, and I got pulled away from his character.

I don't think anyone here could justify, which FF was the best. It's all opinion.
Okay okay, everyone loves 7, so I won't get into that argument. BUT! 9? URg... I can't stand you bastards who loved 9.
In my opinion, 9 was the worst of the playstation ones. I'm a girl, and I didn't think it was cute. It was fucking annoying. How old were they in that game? Zidane and Dagger? 12. Eiko? 8. Zidane was too cocky and annoying. Steiner was wearing eye makeup! I know it! But Vivi, was the shitz, black mages rock. Freya was okay, and the rest were unimportant enough not to remember. The game was entirely too easy, and I can't remember much of it (I remember catching the frogs with Quina). The ending was so disapointing after playing 8, which had a 5 minute movie scene at the end. I mean, a 2 minute movie scene... of Daggar running downstairs. WOW! EXCITING! [/sarcasm]
...
They had the use of cool graphics, and didn't do much with it. I mean, FF8 had that awesome fight with Seifer and Squall. 9 had scenes of Dagger flying away in an airship, and her cutting her hair. WOW! [/sarcasm]
All the charachters in 9 were kinda wimpy. I think what I liked about all the FF games, was the aspect of each main charachter. But when they put someone as naive and young in the position of leader (Zidane) of a gang of people to fight and save the world, I couldn't find it believable. I couldn't immense myself in a story, led by someone I was more mature than.
Note: I don't know their actual age (does anyone) for fact. But by height, looks, and the way they act, they can't be more than 14.
I couldn't look at any of the charachter in 9 and say, 'this is someone I would follow. This is someone I could fight with.'
Each Final Fantasy game had such a variety of colorful charachters that were good at certain things. Their different charachter strenghts would mesh together to make a team. FF7 for example. You had a leader, you had fighters, you had the smart intellectual ones, you had someone who had good morals and was all around a good/nice person, you had the slightly cocky/funny charachters, you had the dark mysterious one, you had a sweet girly charachter, etc etc.
But in 9, you just kinda get these random clueless charachters. I just couldn't see the strengths in each charachter.
For me, I have to be able to relate to these people in some fraction of a way, or actually believe these people are capable of saving the world. Nine, was the one Final Fantasy I couldn't pull myself into, and get into the story and charachters.
WOW! I babble, and I don't think I made much sense at aLL! Blah...

I haven't played any video games in a LONG while since I've lost intrest in alot of video games but I'm going to do this from memory.
I would have to say that my favorites were FF6 and FF7. 6 having to be the best FF game, ever. Almost all of the charachters had their own back story. The intresting job system. I Loved the Esper System. I thought this game was amazing. and yet I've never been able to beat it.
FF7 was great too. The charachter Delevopment wasn't as deep ass FF6 but I still loved the charachters. The Story was GREAT. The materia system frustrated me at times but I thought it was pretty good.
My two least favorite FF's would have to be 8 and 10.
FF8. I could not stand that game, IMO worst game ever. The Junction system confused the hell out of me. The charachter development was horrible. There's basically only back story for 2 of them. The rest you basically knew their name and that was it (note I'm exagerating). The story line was horrible too. Maybe I just didn't really get into it but I thought it was just too weird for me. It did have some cool mini games and summons but for me.. that was the highlight of it.
FF10 I was a bit disappointed. The game never really did it for me. And it was riddicoulously easyI hated how you had all the charachters with you at all times and could switch during battle. The challenge of the other games was making do with the charachters you had. The sphere grid was a great idea, but I didn't really like it that much. I liked the whole level up thing and gain new abilities as you go but that's just me. 10 after reaching a certain point in the game all your characters would be the same minus their special abilities. And The Story line.. I thought the storyline was just sort of meh. Like 8 didn't do a whole lot for me. I guess it's because I never really got into it but blah.

i disagree about 8. i spent a while learning the junction system and i actually got to the point where i understood and enjoyed it very well. if you do all of the sidequests and play through with different teams, you learn the backstory and personality of all the characters.
i really liked and connected with eight and i liked the way it was set up.
i think the reason a lot of people dont like it is because following up seven with something better is like trying to make a zelda game better than OoT. the end.
Azlex
08-05-2003, 02:56 PM
Yeah, 8 did kinda take a while to get into the story. First time I tried to play thru it, I got stuck on Sorceress Adel because I was like about lvl 54 or so when I got to her, so I couldn't beat her. Next time I got to her, I had squall at lvl 100, selphie at level 84 and Zell at level 85, and I stomped the hell outta her. I wasn't really into the story the first time I played it, but I liked the gameplay of it, so I started again and really got into it.
I was a master of the junctioning system. When I got to Tiamat in Ultimacia's castle, I had 100 firaga's equipped for the elemental defense, so when I fought her, her "DARK FLARE" GAVE me 8,500 life. I fucked that game all up. Loved it to death, and yes, my copy has died.

eventually ill go back and try to finish ff8...it was just too hard in my opinion.
I mean the enemies leveled up with you, so to me it kind of made leveling up your character pointless.
That and drawing your magic from enemies and the junction system made things a little more difficult than i liked.
And then there is the bosses.
Its just not right when the third boss in the game keeps kicking your ass over and over. And im no rookie to rpg's either.
However, ff8 does have the best graphics of any final fantasy game, and one of the bests overall in that department still.
Azlex
08-05-2003, 03:31 PM
Only the random battle monsters level up with you. the bosses stay the same level. I guess getting up to level 15 before you go and get Ifrit at the beginning kinda helps out too.
Hmm... pretty much all of the reasons Squirrel listed for hating IX is why I loved the game. Sure, the charactor designs weren't the prettiest thing out there, especially when compared to VIII, but there's more to a game than how it looks. (Again, I point to VIII) Generally, I think Final Fantasy is a pretty lame and over-rated series. Mainly this is due to their habit of recycling the same charactors with new looks and maybe a little twist (Cloud/Squall, Yuffie/Selphie/Rikku), and I prefer the more traditional, medieval setting for a role play game. IX was like a breath of fresh air, a nostalgic trip back to how RPGs used to be. Charactors were super deformed, it was in a medieval setting, gone are the boring and grumpy lead charactors replaced with someone actually cheerful (yay!)... it was different and that's why I liked it.
When it comes to FFVIII... the game looked great, and I loved the battle system. The story was mediocre when compared to other RPGs, but it wasn't bad. I'd probably have enjoyed the game if I didn't make it to the end of the third disc and get stuck with no way out, followed by the deletion of my save. -_-*
At first I hated FF9's character design, because come on, it went from FF8 to SD chibis. But then I got used to it, and I guess I sort of considered it a nice tribute to the SD characters of the Super Nintendo FF games. And well... Zidane is the cuttest little guy in all the games. XD Then Vivi. XD
What are people's opinions on Kingdom Hearts? I know it's not a FF game, but it DOES have FF characters crossed over into it. Playing with disney characters and FF characters... XD That game is priceless. A lot better then that Energizers fighting game, that's for sure.

lol ok let's start with comments...
possesed actually the games from 7 to 10, go something like this:
kinda cartoonish chars
real chars
kinda cartoonish chars
real chars
the real ones being 8 and 10... with more realistic things than 7 and 9... so yeah they were kinda not as cool as squall maybe... BUT WAIT... they're remaking it, and i'm not sure if i want to bet, but when FF7 is remade, i think you'll love sephiroth and cloud more than any other char (cuz of their personalities, and finally fro graphics....)
Gooplink: you have a point about FF10, but hey, you should have tried the battle arena sidequest, it would be a great way to keep the game going, and keep on getting stronger... and that kinda stuff... actually in EVERY FF on playstation at least... there's a stronger monster than the final boss (FF7 the weapons, there were 5, but only 2 stronger than jenova and sephiroth, FF8 Ultima Weapon, FF9, ozda, bigball thingy and FFX Nemesis in american version and Penance in other versions... well there were the dark aeons too  )
naikuu: yeah FF8 was a great game, and yeah, EVERY FF is a great game, but yeah i consider the 8, the lamest of em all hehe sorry :P... i mean i've finished all of them in the lowest level i can, and FF8 i can do it without leveling up... FFX i can do it too, but it's a lot harder to kill the strongest enemy, which in FF8 is kinda a lot more ez...

I started playing my newest save of FF7 again, to catch all the snippets of the storyline and to do some other stuff. I used to have a Walk-thru guide with 6 7 and 8 in it, but I dunno where it is now. I am at the shinra building (where you either bust in or you sneak in). It says its about 8 hours into it, but I left the PS2 on for 2 hours yesterday without playing it.
And it doesn't officially say that Sephiroth was dead. I remember it now, they just that Sephiroth fell into the vat of pure mako energy and it was RECORDED that he was dead, but it doesn't really say if he really died or not. This is just taking into account what I remember, I don't know if Sephiroth actually says if he died or not.

I still think 3 was the best (6 in other words). Great charachters, great storyline. Shadow, Terra, Celes, Locke, Edgar, Mog, Seifer, Sabin, Umaro, etc. The charachters rocked. And you could have 5 in your group. Edgar rocked, damn I loved that chainsaw.
I think Kefka was one of the coolest villians. Basically, he wanted to destroy the world (basically like every FF villian). BUT! He didn't have a reason to do it, he wasn't jealous, or trying to take revenge on a cruel world. He just wanted to destroy it. AND that my friends, is evil.
There are no villians like Kefka...BWAHAHA! It was great playing the SuperNintendo version of 6. Because there were no graphics, and Kefka was hilarious. I saw pics of him in the computer version, and he looked fucked up. But the SuperNintendo version, was priceless.

For whatever reason, I liked 2/4 better than 3/6. I'm thinking it's because of the fact I didn't like having a ton of characters, because there would always be a bunch that I'd never ever touch. I like having a group of characters that I stick fairly closely to for most of the game.
Now... if I recall (it was a while ago), 2/4 didn't allow any swapping of characters, you just had whatever group you had at that point of the game.
OH. I quite liked the whole overworld/underworld/moon aspect of that game too. Plus it was so damn cool to have that series hit the Super NES.

hehe, fithoooos, luuuuseeeec...
FF8 is prolly the weirdest FF ever...
it was a risky bet to try and seduce an adult public...
the risk was to lose a great part of its fans...
anyway, the game was absolutely great, and pretty well received.. isn't that the important? :p
my fav ff will remain FF6 though...

*Drools* Final Fantasy is the best series of games EVER. My favorite is FF8, the stories, graphics and the characters made it AWSOME!! :) :) It made me cry too, more then once. ^.^ My second favorite is FFX and I can't wait til FFX-2 comes out! Omg that will be sooo great! *bounces!* I've played FF2/4 also, but never finished it..I got kinda bored lol. But it was good til I got to the moon..I didn't feel like building up anymore lol.
Umm lessee..I can't wait for them to re-do FF7 if they do (it's still unconfirmed I think). That'll be cool they won't be all..blocky..>.<!
I won't be buying 11, I hate the fact it's going to be online..blah!
I loved Kingdom Hearts...where as the FF chars weren't really the main focus, they were part of it..and you get to fight Sephiroth! ^.^ He's soo cool lookin in the game. It was pretty interesting and I uhm..well I cried at the end of that one too..rofl. Im so emotional!!
Eh... I don't think fithos lusec wecos vinosec means anything. Probably just a bunch of words someone made up to sound like a ritualistic chant.
The latin to english lyrics, from eyesonff.com, in case no one's read them yet...
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Awaken yourselves from sleep, my children.
This is not a cradle.
Awaken yourselves from sleep, fated children.
Sleep does not advance.
Rise up.
Seek in the garden of truth.
Burning with the fires of truth
Sear with flame the darkness of the world.
Burning with the fires of truth
Kindle to ash the evil of the spirit.
Be strong, children,
on that fated day.
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec

Never liked Blue Fields in the game, but on the cd it's gorgeous.

I have cards from FF8. Triple Triad cards. and some other character cards and stuff. There is one card that has Sorceress Edea on it with the "Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec" on it and around it, it has some words in english and other words in latin I think. I'll post them up here.
excitote was a sonnet, (not sure what this next one is but it looks like) libere futuri.
Sommy won est.
Aidente veritote
unite mado mundi
Aidente veritote
Iucudite tunebras mummdi
This could be terribly wrong because it is in really bad cursive.
It also may mean nothing.
Hmm. That looks like a shortened version of the latin lyrics to Liberi Fatali. Guess I may as well post those two while I'm here. ;)
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Excitate vos e somno, liberi mei
Cunae non sunt
Excitate vos e somno, liberi fatali
Somnus non eat.
Surgite
Inventite hortum veritatis
Ardente veritate
Urite mala mundi
Ardente veritate
Incendite tenebras mundi
Valete, liberi
Diebus fatalibus
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Fithos lusec wecos vinosec
Yeah, pretty handy if you're a weirdo like me and enjoy bellowing along to loud choir music. ^_^
I really liked that song as well. Guess when I think about it, it's probably my favorite Final Fantasy tune. Those games have so much awesome music, it's hard to decide. @_@

Yeah I just found out that it was for Liberi Fatai.
Also I found out that "Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec" is latin, but I can't find out what all of the meanings are since I don't know the roots of the words.
Lusec = to play, sport/ imitate, banter/ delude, deceive
vinosec: (All I can think of for this is) Vino(root) = to come or I come
I'll check some more latin stuff and try to find a meaning for more of it.

Yes, that is an awesome song. I have a couple friends taking Latin classes, so I'll ask them if they can figure out what it means whenever I talk to them again.
My favorite FF is probably FFVIII just because it's the first one I ever played and it really got me into the series. The only character I didn't like in that one was Irvine because he seemed like such a cocky bastard, mah goodness! I LOVE the junctioning system, and I like that everyone in that game can use summons. Squall's Lionheart limit break made things a little too easy toward the end of the game, I think, as did the Eden GF, but I really loved the story, and the FMVs with Squall and Rinoa were priceless.
I love them all, though I must admit that I have not yet played FFVII.
Azlex
08-06-2003, 07:25 PM
The Lionheart did make things alot easier, but I didn't get it off that often. I got the Lightblade(?) off more often (the one where he raises the blade up and makes a light blade, and it pans back and it showed the earth with a huge light blade coming out of it). That limit break should have done more damage IMO.
Aparently Fithos lusec wecos vinosec doesn't mean a thing in latin, but some sites say it's an invention that was formed by making an anagram of "succession of witches, love"

lol let's start... again:
FF6 yeah rocks, it's great hehe agree with all the people who loved it, the espers and the fact that Terra was one of them was something great... Kefka, great villian, but sephiroth would own him ;)
FF7, it's ALMOST 100% sure it will be redone, i read it at a squaresoft page, it was confirmed, but with the fusion with Enix, well i dunno now, now for the sephiroth thing, yeah he's dead... remember at the crater, you follow him thru a path, the reunion of his clones... then you find him former body hanging in somthing like an egg, then they tell you he's been dead, and his spirit is the one acting (reason for which he's able to walk thru walls and fly and stuff), then you go up (cloud being controled) to where he is, then the awesome FMV with the weapons apearing...
FF8 hehehe, well... yeah the lionhart was kinda cool
FFX, hope you like it, it's not the best i've played, but it IS pretty cool...
Chrono Trigger, man was that a good game... i'm still dissapointed about chrono cross... i was expecting something a little better...
OH AND FOR EVERYONE... Aila is right... Fithos Lusec Wecos Vinosec doesn't mean a thing in latin, it IS an anagram and yeah it means that: "succession of witches, love"
still dunno why they did it... and dunno how much time did Aila look for it over the internet or something :D
I really liked Chrono Cross. It wasn't quite as good as Chrono Trigger, but I went into the game knowing it wasn't made to recreate the experience of the original, and ended up really enjoying it.
And egh @ the remakes stuff. I really don't see the point in remaking the PSX Final Fantasies. If they're really going to start from the ground up and remake one of them, it's my opinion that it should be a game that really needs it, namely from the SNES era. The playstation ports just didn't do it for me. And, I really wish they would lay off the Final Fantasy stuff for awhile. It's looking better now that they've merged with Enix, though...
lol let's start... again:

Took me 5 minutes at the most.
I really liked Chrono Cross as well, even though I never played Trigger, and will stay away from it due to my dislike for the character designs *yeah, I'm stingy over stupid things*, but Chrono Cross I liked a ton, even if the ending was a let down and just suddenly popped up on me. But it's still one of my top 3 games. The music, pace, characters, movies, and well, everything I really liked. I haven't been able to replay it yet though to get the different characters.

I saw the thing about the anagram but also I put Lusec into a Latin Translator and it said "to play a game/to decieve." But it only took about 3 seconds to find that.
I am playing thru FF7 again (not constantly I might add). I am at the Condor place right now. About to go do the thing on the beach where you give CPR to that little girl.
I played a little bit of Chrono Cross. I thought what I played of it was better than Chrono Trigger. I really didn't like Chrono Trigger at all. It just got really dumb and redundant. I really liked the music to Cross also. There were like a million characters that you could get in that game.

lol trogdor, condor place, visit constantly, it's a fun game, and besides if you win, you'll get phoenix materia...
well a lil secret, first time i beat chrono cross, i beat it for a friend, he was at the last battle, then he said he had tried like a gazillion times and couldn't beat it... so i played once and did it hehe
oh and well cross was good, but trigger was tons of times better, you should try it... and besides the fact that since you have a lot of chars in cross, and can't really get to know each and you know, well i like the games where you can really know the chars, cuz that's how you get in the story
as for the remakes, it's ok, i also heard a rumor that they might make aeris come back in the remake... a remake would be to get better graphics and movement, and you'll be able to connect more with chars and game... besides they might add extra stuff...

Yeah, I am using 2 different walkthrus while playing :D
I am all about using some walkthru's once I have beaten the game once all the way thru without cheating/using walkthru.
Watched the opening scene to FF8 twice today. Yeah, I am definatly gonna have to play thru that again. BTW if you didnt see my other post, darkarchangel, I got my FF8 disk working again. PS1 just didn't have the reading power. PS2 has to have a better lens than ps1.

the walkthrus thingy, well you might be readin one of mine, hehehe, maybe a rip off of one, or just a copy, i've had SOOO much trouble trying to stop people from stealing my stuff, but then i just thought it didnt' even matter hehe, so i hope that's working for you, and if you need any help at FF7 or 8 or anyone... i'll be glad to help

I owned all over some FF8. Don't need any help there. One thing I was wondering about though. Should I even have Aeris in my party right now? the only thing I use her for mainly is as a spell caster and a healer. But someone else can cover that, since it is wasted exp because she is gonna die anyways.
here is the walkthru on the internet I am using:

There is one on there right under this one from a Dark Angel, would that happen to be you?

haha i've used so many nicknames and done so many versions, yeah it could have been me, i've gone by Zero, Zero_X, Oblivion_Zero, OZDA, Dark Archangel, and a dozen more hehe, and done lotsa versions with updates and stuff hehe...
at FF7 well i used her, cuz i know she'll die and wwanted to get to play with her, you know like her and use her before she dies, besides if you use her, and get to use her lvl 4 limit break it'll be sweet as hell... she runs off before going to the temple of ancients so watch out... her lvl 4 limit break fully heals everyone and makes then invincible for a short ammount of time, you'll need some items you can look for in a guide, like the mythril to go to the weapon maker, and exchange it either for a GREAT ITEM, or her lvl 4 limit break... it'll be your choice heheh... i hope you really get to know her, so you'll really care when she goes down... *gets sad*
Azlex
08-07-2003, 03:58 AM
well this is the email of the guy of whose name that guide belongs to. dark_angel13uk@hotmail.com
well how GREAT is that GREAT item? I would prolly get that because getting the lvl 4 limit break would be a waste. thats why they make it so you can save in multiple slots  but yeah, this time thru, I am gonna try and get alot of stuff and do alot more things. how do you gain more limit breaks on this game? is it from the more uses of limit breaks or is it based on level?
Also something I wanted to ask you. Did you ever beat Omega Weapon on FF8? I didn't have enough Holy Wars to beat him. That one damned attack he does takes off 13k health.
DarkArchangel
08-07-2003, 04:07 AM
ok limit break thingy goes like this:
Level 1, Limit 1 - The character has this one to start out with.
Level 1, Limit 2 - The character must use the Level 1;Limit 1 a total of 8 times.
Level 2, Limit 1 - The character must kill 80 enemies - this means that that particular character must finish off 80 enemies in any way possible.
Level 2, Limit 2 - The character must use the Level 2;Limit 1 a total of 6 times.
Level 3, Limit 1 - The character must kill 80 enemies starting when he or she learns Level 2, Limit 2.
Level 3, Limit 2 - The character must use the Level 3;Limit 1 a total of 4 times.
Level 4, Limit 1 - The character needs a special item...
as for the aeris limit, well it's A GREAT THING in the fights between you get it, and when you lose aeris, you can be invincible (yeah even bosses can't do squat to you...) you'll have to get mythril, it's in a cave in the south of the first city, midgar... go there when you've fought a number of fights that end with the same two numbers like 564600 or 511 or 546546133, same 2 last numbers, if you have aeris alive, he'll hand out the mythril, if not he'll give a... ring... i think bolt ring... almost sure, but really can't remember completely... then you go with a weapon seller, he'll take it and let you choose between a gold armlet (it's a good armor in this stage of the game) or aeris limit... i'd go for the limit, cuz the armlet will become obsolet as you progress thru game...
oh and the mail account, i've seen so many, and there are a lot of people who do walkthroughs, so i dunno him hehe
Azlex
08-07-2003, 04:14 AM
Is there some sort of kill counter in that cave then? or do you have to just memorize them?
And is there a fast way to get your limit up? I don't wanna risk attacking myself though.
Ugh, looks like I got lots of fighting ahead.
DarkArchangel
08-07-2003, 04:17 AM
lol yeah, when you go there, he'll tell you how many times you've fought, and if i remember quite well, how many you've escaped too hehehehe... (i never escaped MUAHAHA)....
so it's not a lot of fighting, you only have to have last 2 digits, you could have 11 and he'll hand it over so don't worry... now for the limits, we'll just get hit lotsa times, later on you could manipulate monsters and hit yourself... and use this items called hyper, that make you have a fury state, your limit bar grows faster, but you'll get more damage than normal... and if you hit yourself or with your party member, don't worry the bar won't raise...
Azlex
08-07-2003, 04:23 AM
arg, why don't they have an aurora spell in there (i think thats the name of it) the spell in FF8 that makes you gain limitbreak really fast (or in FF8's case, more frequently).
DarkArchangel
08-07-2003, 04:29 AM
lol well there are attacks that make you go fury or sad... if sad it fills slowly and you sustain less damage...
watch out, i never want to be sad, and if you use hyper, you'll stay with fury til something weird happens, like you get sad or die i think... but you can use this items even out of battle, i think you'll start getting them when you reach cosmo canyon...

As for the music, Mitsuda passed up Uematsu with CT, CC, Xenogears-Saga. But thats just my opinion. I do however still own the OST to FF VI- X. :D

Hell yeah. All of Mitsuda-sama's music is awesome. I really admire his work on Xenosaga. A lot of people didn't like it (because they wanted their music in their dungeons, boohoo) but I thought it was amazing. It sounded great on it's own as a soundtrack, but also fitted beautifully for what it was used for in-game. *sigh* I really wish I could find a more convincing reason for him being too busy to work on Xenosaga Ep 2. More stuff out of memory.
I must agree with alot of people with Chrono Trigger being the best RPG ever. Nothing extremely fancy. The story I thought was an awesome storyline. The Charachters... just wow. They were great EVERYONE had their own backstory and plot and such. It's the only game that I really have the urge to play. Another one of the games that proves that SNES is the greatest game system ever.
I have to say Chrono Cross which I played first. I can't say I was too into that one. I beat the game in 9 days while taking alot of breaks. I didn't like it. Too Many charachters, not enough to back up each one. They had a little segment and that was about it. I like it more when MOST if not ALL of the charachters have some back story and contribute to the story. There were no major roles by most of the charachters, basically they were used for battle. It didn't really impress me all that much. I think it would have been much better without all the extra not needed charachters thrown in there. The battle system was sort of funky, I got it, but it was just sort of weird. Harle=Best Charachter in the game.
Hopefully they will make the Chrono squeal (Chrono Break I think it will be) better then Chrono Cross. That is.. if I decide to start playing video games.

Again, sorry about the FF*, I ment to put FF8!!

Damn friggin' frackin' online games. Pah! I'ma get the FF game for GameCube, even though it's like... different. It looks fun. I'll give it a shot.
For me, on-line games are only fun if you already know you have another friend to play it with you. I played Ragnarok on-line for awhile with my girlfriend, and it was a lot of fun. But when she cancelled her account... game no fun no more. :( So yeah, my getting FFXI depends on if I have someone to play it with.
I'm not sure why, but I'm really hyped up for FFXII... and I know nothing about the game. o_O I've seen maybe one picture? And I don't even remember it. Yet I'm psyched like you wouldn't believe. W-E-I-R-D-O.

i have xbox and ps2 which i worked hard to get, now i have enough to get gamecube but i'm not sure...
i've been trying to save up for a computer for about 2 years now, but i keep buying something once i get a good amount of money :(

thanks

Here is a list of GREAT games for GC that I have played:
Zelda (thats a given)
Metroid Prime
Eternal Darkness (this game is weird as hell, hallucinations and stuff)
Super Mario Sunshine (if you can stand it, kinda different, not same Mario)
Super Smash Bros. Melee
Pikmin (hard as hell though)
Lost Kingdoms (I hear the second one is better than the first)
Resident Evil (remake of the first one)
Bomberman Generations
Games that I heard were good:
Super Monkey Ball (1 and 2)
Lost Kingdoms 2 (as I said before)
Animal Crossing (good if you like the sims)
Good games coming out in the future:
Zelda: Legend of the Four Swords
Final Fantasy: Crystal Chronicles
F-Zero X
Soul Calibur 2 (with Link)
Viewtiful Joe (fucking great looking game, kinda similar to Comix Zone if anyone remembers that for Genisis)
Pikmin 2
Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (the new one, it looks really good. cell shading looks like a cartoon...like it should)
LotR: Return of the King (all systems though I think)
The Hobbit (LOTR prequel)
Mario Kart Double Dash
Metal Gear Solid: The Twin Snakes (dunno what its about, but it looks like MGS1 with MGS2's graphics)
1080: Avalanche (if you played the first one on 64 then you know what this is, best snowboarding game ever)
StarCraft Ghost
Narc GC (if it is what i think it is, it should be good. NARC was a really good game for NES where you busted up drug lords and stuff, side scrolling shooter)
Thats all the info I have at the moment, but it looks like a more than enough reason to get a GC

Slap up Skies of Arcadia Legends on the good games list.
And indeed, the GC Metal Gear Solid is the first MGS with the engine from MGS 2. :D

ps3 won't come out for another 3-4 years at least. Sony is making too much money off the ps2 right now to even start prototyping the ps3. costs too much money. i know they have plans/possibly blueprints of it, but not a built working model. every company that makes consoles looses money for each system sold. they would be worrying too much about making all the money they can from this one before upgrading.
I am saying that GC is too good to pass up. Also if you get one dude, then get a WaveBird. It is the best wireless controller ever made. It works off of radio frequency rather than infrared, so you can play your games ACROSS THE FUCKING HOUSE....THROUGH WALLS!!!!!!!!!!! I have NEVER had a problem with mine. it takes 2 AA batteries with the life time of about (well it says) 20 hours, but i have gone for a good 40-60 without changing the batteries.

That's a pretty comprehensive list there. The Blockbuster around here SUCK for GC game selection... perhaps I'll look elsewhere, as I want to try some stuff out.
Then again, I'm still working on Zelda and Mario Sunshine, so I don't really NEED new games... yet.
I like the list of the upcoming stuff too... lots of stuff to get excited about. I know that many nights of me bringing the Cube over to my friend's place for 4 player Mario Kart will be had... and anything with the Final Fantasy name is worth snapping up, even if I intentionally don't know much about the game (in other words, I don't usually read previews... I'll find out when I rent and/or buy it).
WaveBird seems like the coolest damn thing ever. I might pick myself up one of those soon.

you need the . before hack so that it is .hack because it is "dot-hack" I always wanted to watch the anime but never found out what times it was on. I need to get the games (or at least rent them) i hear they are pretty good.

sorry to dissapoint somebody but hehehe, the PS3 is already been made, they only need some processor, i think they already have it (with the power of 100 pentium 4 procesors...) and that's it... they ALSO have the date to release it, and it will be around 2005 or if they release it tooo late, well it would come out 2006 hehe... oh well, it will have the best processing, graphics, the most power and it will be the best out of the 3 systems (even the other 2 put together...) but let's see whatcha think after you buy GC2, and then see a PS3 hehe... it will be a HUGE difference

power of a system is nothing without games. I am not expecting PS3 to do well at all, assuming it comes out in 2006, until about 2008 or 2009. PS2 came out back in 1999-2000 (don't really remember) or so but it didn't bring out any good games till last year. Also remember what happened last time Sony made a system then tried to shove out too many too fast? they had an antialiasing problem with the systems and didn't have enough systems to supply demand so only 100,000 were shipped here the first day, next supply didn't come until 2 months later. I remember that our walmart only recieved 4.
There is no way that it could have the power of 100 pentium 4s. My friend's pentium 4 is 2.5 Gigahurtz. That would mean that the PS3 would be 250 gigahurtz. we don't have that kind of technology yet, seeing how the fastest processor out right now is 3.2 gigahurtz. We could have the technology to make it, but not for it to be stable for too long. It would over heat in like 3 seconds. Plus Sony wouldn't be able to afford losing that much money on mass producing a processor like that. Also taking into consideration that the fastest pentium 4 out (the 3.2 ghz) at the cheapest is $646. That would make the system to have to be about $2000-5000. So there is NO POSSIBLE way that it could have that kind of power.

ok let me quote a games magazine... so you won't have to ONLY believe me (i know quite a bit about games):
"in 2002 Shinichi Okamoto, executive of the Technologic Unit for Sony games, talked about the technology they would use in the core of their 3rd generation machine..."
"The new system will include a new microprocessor made by Sony, Toshiba and IBM, with an approx cost (research and development) of 400 milllion dollars..." whatcha say now... ok let's go on...
"the architecture of the PS3 processor will be called cell-computing, and it will have many processor in the same chip, oposite to normal 1 processor per chip"
"Okamoto says that the console will be capable of executing a trillion operations of fbp per second, or the equivalent of 100 pentium 4 chips (each one could serve as the brain of any CPU)..."
"The next console will act as a home server, with a hardrive, recording capabilities like TiVo's, compatibility with PS1 and PS2 games and even an option to browse thru the internet..."
"It won't only compete with the Xbox and GC consoles, it'll also compete with Dell computers and HP ones, and even with the Tv equipment made by Motorola and Phillips"
"It could also be able to brun CDs and DVDs, with a technology called Blu-Ray, which will fill discs with data 5 times bigger than the standard for DVDs"
so whatcha think... think it thru, no console, computer or TV equipment will come close to this... gotta respect this kinda software hehehe, and rethink about changing to the PS console huh people...

Fuck all that noise. I want a GAMING CONSOLE!!!!!! Not some multiple use thing. TiVo is the devil anyways. I could make something out of a cereal box that is better than that piece of shit. I still don't think that there is ANY way that Sony could make a processor work at 320 ghz. IF they did though, which is not outside of the realm of possibility, then as I said earlier, it would cost WAY THE HELL too much to mass produce it. And with all those special features and shit on it, you can guarantee that it is gonna be costing way more than 500 bucks...thats without the processor.
Also, the system may have the specs, if it will ever run without burning up, but who is to say that they will have the power of the games? Sure it will be able to play the PS1 and PS2 games, as well as it's own, but someone upgrades to play the new stuff, not to play the old. I seriously doubt that they will have many good games for it. PS2 had NO good games till last year.
Do you remember why companies such as Oddworld Inhabitants when to Xbox? Because games were fucking hard to make at first on the PS2. Take that difficulty, and bring it up to speed with that technology, and try to imagine how hard it would be to make a game for it.

ok let's see:
you'll have a gaming console, and if besides that you can record programs, burn stuff, copy games, and a lot of other stuff, IT'S WAY BETTER... besides add the price of all the stuff you'll need to play games, burn stuff and record stuff, that's way over 500 bucks, bcz the ps2 alone was at 300 when it first came out remember??
it's great that this will come out... as for the games, there were some PRETTY DECENT games for the ps2, yes not a lot, but hey, i got the bouncer, FFX when i got it, those 2 are cool... besides even if the ps3 doesn't have cool games i can play every other game i have, play dvds on it, record stuff, play music, and get online on it... consider the posibilities man.. think outside the box...
as for the
