Tomorrow I'll be going to a concert for the first time. :D I'm going to get to see Def Leppard at long last. I have always wanted to see them live and now I get the chance. I'm actually pretty nervous about it. I don't do well in large crowds and tend to panic. I'm sure it will be fun though. My wife assures me that I'll have a great time. :p

Anyway, what was your first concert like? Were you nervous, excited, etc.? Who was the first artist/band that you saw live?

N*Sync when I was 12. How pathetic...

But, Don't shoot me. yet.

Then I saw Simple Plan.

Okay, now shoot me.

Since then, I've seen no crappy bands. I'm going to see Rufio soon. Can't wait...

My first concert was the All That Tour when I was like in 5/6th grade.. so I personally don't think of that as a concert lol I say my first was the Incubus concert in 7th grade (I'm in 10th now). I really didn't want to go at first (even though I was getting in for free) but I ended up going. We stood toward the back of the mosh, where it was pretty mellow. I was kinda nervous, and I didn't know what to expect.People were jumpin up and down at parts and there was a bunch of weed being passed around and crap, but all in all it was pretty damn fun.

Other concerts where I was in the front of the mosh, I never lasted. UNTIL I saw Eva, now that was awesome. I only survived because I was in the very front, and could lean on the barricade though :) Concerts are hella fun, hope you have a great time!

I went to see Bob Dylan. And I went with someone in which our friendship had begun to drift, so it was a little uncomfortable.

My first concert that I thoroughly enjoyed though? The Who. It was bittersweet, b/c John Entwistle had just died. But they performed amazingly. I heart one Roger Daltry. I think I was the youngest person there who was completely jamming out. It was great.

Then, of course, there's the Ev concerts. Enough said there. Amazing

My first concert was The Moody Blues.

It was one of the bands my parents were listening to at the time, I think I was around 12.

Anyway, I liked one of their songs, so my parents took me to the concert.

Dont remember much about it, though.

Lucky...getting to go to a concert you want to go to.

I've been to some Christian concert at Carowinds befo (it's like Six Flags, Busch Gardens, King's Dominion...one of those theme parks)...I left after a few minutes.

I've only been to football games and a WWE event.

I hope someday I'll get to see Evanescence or Michelle Branch in concert...or any good rap artist.

I envy you. :P

I've never been to a concert before in my life... Evanescence was here in Milwaukee a few weeks back but I couldn't go because I had to work. But I'll make sure to go when they come back.

My first concert...well...i wouldn't really consider this one...cuz I only went because it was the craze of my worst best friend in 4th grade. It was the...wuts their name...umm...Spice Girls (dies...shoot me you guys) And then...i went to an nsync concert...yeah...(stab me please!)...and then I went to another nsync concert....with THREE GUYS...you'd think...i would be the one screaming...but it was my guy friends screaming and singing. haha...moments to remember. And then I went to the Janet Jackson concert...a bit better..she had this guy come up on stage..which apparently was someone my cousin knew...and like she strapped him to some sex table or sumfin...and started touching him...umm...i was like 13..lol...it was funny...yet kinda wierd...and gross.

And then I went to the Evanescence concert. OH YEAH

My first show was Garbage at first avenue in Minneapolis,MN on 5-10-02. Garbage was my favourite band like nobody could touch them and I was beyond nervous. Then when I met them I started crying and acting like an idiot, Cause I have been such fans of them since as long as I can remember. and the show was amazing, despite what the paper review was.

lol My Dad likes Bob Dylan. Ipersonally think he sings like a sheep. Good lyrics though. His guitar isn't that bad.

My first concert was Paula Abdul...before I get made fun of severely I was 7, lol.

Now I consider my first concert to be when I went to see Paul McCartney when I was in 11th grade. That was Uber fantastic :)

Then I went to see Evanescence a bunch this year and WOW! They are the best live.

I am happy to say, that my first concert... was Evanescence. I will live forever being able to say Evanescence was the first concert I attented. Hehehe. That makes me happy. No crappy boy band concerts for me! Bwahahaha. And I can also say my first concert was also the first time I saw someone faint (WORM BABY!)!

Hehe, I love to torture her on that.

i've seen white zombie, korn, and the cult. but they were far from my first concert.

and i saw metallica, too. summer sanitarium, 2000 in dallas. well...i saw most of metallica. james hetfield decided not to show up for that one. the guy from SOAD sang the first coupla songs in the metallica set. then jason newsted sang a few. then...kid rock sang the rest of the set... i turned my back to the stage...

My first concert was for a local band called grinspoon (who everyone should check out) It was a 15+ show and i had just turned 15 so i was still really young compared to the other 1499 people there. I will never forget it, people just spraying beer and rum and cokes all over the place plus some great music, truely a great night.

If I have fun at this one, I would love to go see Evanescence eventually. Not to mention: Scorpions, The Cure (are they even doing shows still?), and Tom Petty.

I've been so excited about this concert that I've just been listening to Def Leppard all day. So far I've made it through High N' Dry, Pyromania, Hysteria, Adrenalize, and Retroactive.

I'm just so friggin' excited and nervous at the same time. Fortunately, the Pavillion isn't a very large place so the crowds won't be nearly as large as it could be.

What's interesting, is the fact I'm 21, and didn't see any concerts until last year. *I was never into any one band enough, I guess...*

First one I saw was actually a free show (for students) at my college. Bif Naked, Crowned King, and New World on Fire. Not a bad show... not the greatest first show, but... pretty good.

My first concert is better than all of yours put together.

I saw Tool and Rage Against The Machine together. I was there when the bootleg of Know Your Enemy was recorded (one of two times ever that it has been performed live).

I pwnz0r j00 all.

Never Heard of Them together with two other crappy bands last year. I would love to go to concerts every month, but because it extremely expensive, all the concerts are in the capital, and not to many bands come here I havent been to many

Jeeez. This one's really getting the grey cells working overtime!!

I went to see Led Zepellin headlining Knebworth in '80 but I'm SURE I went to at least ONE gig before I was 20, so it might've been Marillion or Genesis or Pink Floyd or god only knows what. Not only do I not remember, but I know that I used to keep all my ticket stubs and I definitely don't know where THEY are - though now I've brought them to mind I wanna find them like NOW!

The Corrs and i thoroughly enjoyed it.

10-02-2003, 10:38 AM
My first concert was Aerosmith, back in 94. Collective Soul opened for them; this was right after their first album was released. I started getting into metal shortly after that; Metallica, Pantera, White Zombie, Slayer - those guys were an integral part of my high school experience. :D

I save all of my ticket stubs, and stick them in their respective cds (under the plastic to help preserve them).

First concert: Evanescence at Webster Hall on September 16th. They were excellent, but they weren't the only ones who shined through. Revis and Cold were also amazing.

No crappy boy band concerts for me! Bwahahaha.
Chut up! So my first concert was the Backstreet Boys. Twice... In fifth and sixth grade. But that was the greatest moment of my life...at the time, I mean!

My second concert was really super small though. It was Slick Shoes in seventh grade. Don't know if anyone here has heard of them, but it was my first experience moshing. Hahaha!

I also went to the Warped Tour in seventh grade. It was extremely hot so me and my friend only really watched two bands play. Me First and the Gimmie Gimmies were quite entertaining. Watched Rancid too, which was cool. I have lost all respect for them now though...

And finally just over the summer, I went to the Ev concert! Wheeee! Definately the best concert I've been to so far. :D

Tom Petty for my sixth birthday. I loooooved Tom when I was little, I was completely covinced that I'd marry him. Times have changed. :D But it was so much fun, I still remember the set background was a tree, and I cried when he finished the last song because I already missed him. :D Good times.

Jester-Rage and Tool? I'm jealous, I never got to see Rage. :( I feel lucky though, I saw the second show of all the Lateralus tours, in a little theater in Chicago that people were paying upwards of $3000 to get into. :D

My first show? Weezer in 1994 I think. Maybe 93. Or 95, not sure. It was either the first or second time they played St. Louis, and sadly the only time I've seen them. Since I can't remember the date I don't know how old I was, probably around eight, but seven or nine is possible as well. I think Weezer is the only band I've been a fan of for so long. Them and Alice In Chains, whom I also never saw.

To whoever saw Flogging Molly-kick ass, no else here seems to have heard of them.

Kahless - I do the same thing with my ticket stubs. Except from shows at clubs that don't give you tickets. :(

Hahaha!! Yes, The Cure still does shows. :D I loves them (Bobbert is so grand). They play a lot of festivals in Europe, I believe...and everytime they release another album, they tour in the states (last tour here was after Bloodflowers in 2000 - I went!). They play such a great live show because they play stuff from like, every single album they've ever released. Go see 'em! :P

Let's see, my first concert was The Smashing Pumpkins in 1996. I was SO hyper about that show! Because I loved the Pumpkins (that was before Billy got SUPER CREEPY and released Adore - yuck, I couldn't stand that album). I drove from Florida all the way to Mississippi to see them...and then they came back around in 1997 to Florida, so I went to see them again! I was so mad, though, because I was a poor 14-year-old who couldn't afford a concert t-shirt and ALL of my friends from school got one. :( Oh well, because I had awesome seats and they didn't (I waited in line all morning the day that they went onsale because I knew that it was going to be all numbered seating since the Pumpkins are anti-mosh. Oh, and I touched Jimmy Frog's wing...actually I almost ripped it! Jimmy Frog is friends with SP and he came with this huge green dragon-like costume. Whew...I can't believe that was 7 years ago. It seems like I was that young only yesterday. Anyway, sad to say that the release of Adore made me sick to my stomach, so the last album that I actually liked by them was Mellon Collie...and now they are no more. And now I'm in love with Ev. Heheh.

Heh, no thanks...it is only my opinion, after all. I really didn't like it. Everyone I knew loved that album at the time, but it made me want to tear my hair out. I'm not saying it's wrong to like it (for all of you who do), but that I definitely don't. :) And to me, Billy did get wierd. Like, really wierd. It seemd to me that his mind was off in space or something...still does. I love Billy and all but uhh...he creeps me out these days.

Mine was Evanescence earlier this year at their Fillmore CO show. They totally knocked me off my feet. Band eye contact is the most wonderful experience ever (I'm a loser). I think every concert I go to will forever be overshadowed by that one. Damn you Ev, not really though.

Cold and Korn were both really awesome live, and I would love to see A Perfect Circle.

mine was that stupid TRL tour with destiny's child, nelly, dream, eve, and 3lw back in 2001. After that, Linkin park, GC, warped tour, aerosmith, alanis morissette, all american rejects, korn, and britney spears (2x)
im also going to the GC/Mest/Something corporate show in 2 weeks. not really excited though. lol. just tagging with my buds.

*cough* The first concert I ever went to was... MC Hammer, for my 12th birthday. En Vogue opened for him, although I had no idea who they were at the time. Then at 16 (I think) I went to see Live, with Veruca Salt and PJ Harvey. And then this year, I've seen Ev twice, both times they've come through KC. I've also been to lots of local shows, with local bands, but I don't really count those as "concerts."

Well now. . .my first concert was Black Sabbath WAY back in 1975 (original lineup and all) My mom couldn't find a babysitter, so she took me to the concert (this "might" explain my penchant for heavy music.) Then I saw several local bands play every now and then. Next big "club" concert was Voivod, Faith No More and Soundgarden (Nothingface, The Real Thing and Louder than Love were the respective albums being supported for each band.) Then, the next big stadium tour was Metallica's Justice for All tour.

The first concert for myself was Metallica! the night before my 18th birthday, which means something where i live (able to drink, legally)... It was an awesome show and really if you love the music, you will get over the initial lack of comfort of being surrounded by thousands of people... Anyways it ruled, and since, i've seen Metallica again, then The Jeff Healey Band, followed by The Tea Party and lastly A Perfect Circle a couple of months ago... All have been awesome shows...

My first concert was TLC and Arrested Development at an amusement park in NY I think (River...something). I remember that TLC's wardrobe didn't get there in time so they were picking stuff off the people in the audience. I think I was like 12 years old or something. It was cool because my mom took my sisters and I there to the amusement park just for fun and when she was buying our regular tickets they asked if we wanted tickets to the concert too. So she got them for us. My mom is cool. 8)

Well I just went to my first concert yesterday. It was so fucking awesome. It was at the Showcase theater in Corona if any of you So. Cal locals are reading this. I saw

Beauty to Ashes
Gone Without a Trace
Calico System
Glasseater
Evergreen Terrace

All the bands were good but when Evergreen Terrace came on it got crazy. The Mosh's were crazy and this girl kept stage diving and I just thought that she was going to break her leg. It was a good show untill some asswhole tried to start a fight at the end. All the bands were hardcore so I don't know how many of you have heard of them or listened to them.

Well, unfortunately, I've never really been to a concert.

I had a chance to go to a concert with Aesop Rock, Mr. Lif, RJD2, and DJ Fakts One, but I decided not to go cause I don't like Aesop's new album as much as his previous albums.

And I forgot to get tickets for an Atmosphere concert

The "concert" I went to once was at King's Dominion's I think (amusement park)...it was some Christian band there. It was free, as long as you had admission to get into the amusement park I guess. We sat there for a few minutes and me and a friend just covered our ears cause we were near the dude...loud music...and we just got up and left.

We managed to spend about $30 at the arcade there, I think...mostly on Die Hard 2 or something

my first concert was when i was in 6th grade..........gasp......britney spears!! haha, i had crappy seats, the farthest away from the stage, oh well they were free anywayz, it was a lame concert, i got a headache from it. b4 we left we really needed to go the bathroom, and my friend and i were lost, so we kinda went down through these doors and entered this really fancy bathroom...well we did our stuff, left and when we were almost outside the arena, my friend noticed that she had left her coat in the bathroom, haha, so she ran back, but there were these big police, swat people standing b4 the doors, she like almost starting crying that she needed her coat , so they let her in, but made me stay outside, then i heard the guy say "britney is in that bathroom right now" haha, my friend was in the bathroom at the same time as britney.. :D

My first was a good one: Better Than Ezra and Cowboy Mouth about 5 years ago. Since my high school was also a boarding school, they set aside money for certain events every year, and one of them was always a concert. Yes, my high school rocked.

That one was my 9th grade year, and since then we had Tonic (decent), Sister Hazel (awesome), and Stroke 9 (awful). In the meantime, I managed to see Britney Spears (during my pop phase), and I saw Bob Dylan and Ev in Birmingham this past May. Ev was the best of the bunch, but Sister Hazel wasn't far behind.

Now I can't wait to see Ev again at Alltel in 2 weeks.

Wow, they are still around? I didn't know that.... I think one of the older bands I want to see most is AC/DC, I have always liked them but never been to any of their concerts. But my first concert was to see a bunch of non famous local bands, and at the time Godsmack was one of them.

I'll post my first concert i guess, this thread is old but still cool and i know i haven't posted in it before at least.

It was in 2002 and it was frikin EdgeFest! \m/

For those unfamiliar, this was an outdoor, three stage, festival of mostly alternative rock. Popular performers include Sevendust, Nickelback, Finger Eleven, Simple Plan, Goldfinger, Cake, Default and many others. This event took place in Molson Park in Berrie, Ontario and also happened to be on the hottest god-damned day of the whole summer! It hit, like, 40 degrees celsius in the sun and just imagine how hot it was in the moshpit! Which, of course, was where i was

It was a little over the top for my first concert, never having been to one before i decided to make my very first a huge, outdoor, hard rockin and hot one. Oye, i shoulda started small :p

My first concert was back in 96 when Everclear were touring with Silverchair. I don't think I was nervous, more excited. It was a great concert, and one that was only recently topped this year when I saw Ev in Jan and KoRn and Static-X in Feb

I went to my first concert just this year, in July. I saw Saliva, Skillet, and Earshot. It was awesome. I was nervous at first before we got there(I went with my dad he's into that music), but when the music started it just rocked. If you really *love* the band you wont care who is looking at you. And plus there are so many other people doing the exact same thing so there not going to think your weird. If you want to make the best out of your concert experience get up and mosh. I did and I say it was one of the best times in my life. I can't wait to go to another concert. Have fun;)

Ok, my first concert was Patricia Kaas, a french singer, when I was about 8 or something.... But that doesn't really count cause my parents took me there.
The first concert ticket I bought for myself was in July 2001, for Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds. And the feeling---- it was open air, really crowded but I was so happy because I've been dying to see them since 1996 and never got the opportunity... It rocked.... Will never forget that experience.

Ok..you all are going to laugh at me but..my first concert was Avril Lavigne with GOB and Simple Plan as the opening acts...stfu!
I used to be a huge Avril fan,so it was a big thing for me. I was nervous the whole time,so I just kind of stood there like a dud. I regret that a little bit,but I was young and just kind of scared and nervous. I wore these really high shoes though,BIG mistake. I know I fell like, atleast 5 times, and I was like only 4'10 back then so I was stepped all over, even though I was basically wearing 70s platforms... When I got out though, I called up a few of my friends even though it was the middle of the night and they were all asleep, just to tell them allll about it. :D
Then, we couldnt find our car. The place was huge and the parking lot seemed like it went on for miles. Finally, after about two or more hours,we were on our way home. We took the wrong way,so we ended up in North Carolina. Eventually,we got back home after a long ass drive. Needless to say, when we finally got to the house, school was fixing to start in about half an hour. So,I ended up having to rush to get ready and go even though I had barely any sleep. Overall,it was one hell of a night. ;)

My folks wouldn't let me go to a concert until I was 15  so the first one I went to was a festival - the main act I went to see was Linkin Park. That was awesome and the best experience - even though I did get a bit squashed in the mosh.

I wasn't nervous at all, as I was going with two of my close friends and we were thoroughly excited to see our then fave band live (I still like them, just not as much). Meeting them topped it all off, but it was so unexpected that I didn't have much time to get nervous - only in the queue waiting.

My first ever concert was Steps, I was 11 so give me a break ! Lol
Although i do still have all their cds, just nice cheesy pop and i do have some good memories of school and such with most of the songs.

My first gig was Evanescence in 2003, extremely good night it was great to be 3 rows from the front, and amy and the guys were actually life size ! Coz you know how at most gigs/concerts you can just about make out a person, as we usually had crappy seats.

Altough since Ev we've pretty much made it close to the front at every gig/concert we've been to namely New Found Glory and Nightwish :D

Hey, to all who are embarrassed by their first concerts (i.e. britney spears, avril...) my first concert was to the Houston Symphony! But I'm not embarrassed. Classical music was my thing back then. I love taking a weekend to go see the symphony. I mean, it is what I'll be doing in about 10 years or whatever. So yea, that was my first concert. My first concert was Max-a-Million and Nikki French, but I doubt anyone knows who they are...My next concert was Miisa, but I doubt anyone knows who she is either.

My first "real" concert was Sugar Ray. We were on our senior trip at Six Flags, and he just happened to be playing. Tickets were only $10, so I figured what the hell. Plus, my friends were going to it. Anyway, I don't really remember what I felt.

I know the security people got pissed off though and walked away because Mark McGrath told us to get as close to the stage as possible and the security kept pushing us back until he told them that we could get close. Anyway, they got pissed off and walked off. Heh, it was fun besides the fact that I'm only 5'1" and kept getting trampled on my tall kids, haha.

But I don't know. I was never a fan of Sugar Ray to begin with, so I didn't go all crazy and buy a Sugar Ray cd or anything.

My first concert that I voluntarily went to (my parents took me to The Statler Brothers and Crystal Gale a lot...) was The Mistletoe Meltdown at Nation. It was Vitamin C, LFO, DJ Raps, and Christina Aguilera. The only reason I went was for Christina Aguilera, and when she came on, I pushed my way to the fourth row, and was in awe the whole time. This was before she showed off her pipes on Stripped, so when she broke into the adlibbing of Genie in a Bottle, my whole body became one big goosebump :p

It was friggin' amazing.

I guess it's safe to say, I've been to a concert...I went to one last night. 95.5 WPLJ, hosted a free Bowling For Soup concert at Rye Playland. I didn't actually stay to watch the whole show, because my parents had already paid for points (the equivalent of tickets) to get on rides. But, I did get autographs from 3 of the members (the lead singer was jerk and didn't give me an autograph even though I was waving the paper I had brought right in front of his face)! Ahh boy, being ambitious is great :D

I don't really like them that much, but they seemed like really cool guys, and it was a free concert, and a perfectly good opportunity to get autographs by some famous people, so I thought, why not? They actually weren't that bad live...It was pretty fun despite the obnioxous people blocking other people's view including my own while I was watching. And one girl tapped me on the shoulder and said 'excuse me', and took my spot leaving me with the totally blocked off spot! I think she had that planned out all along...

Honestly, I've never been to a concert because where I live is kind of out of the way. But I'm going to see Yellowcard on September 19th because they're actually coming here! YAY! I wanted to go see Seether in St. Paul but it was an 18+ show and I wanted to see them in Fargo but my parents couldn't get me there:( Oh well, maybe next time!

 peace

My first concert was last year, and I'm proud to say it was ev :), and it was THE most amazing concert I've ever seen (even if I have only been to 2 concerts, its still the bestest.)
The other concert I've been to is Green Day with New Found Glory and Sugarcult, I think it was. It was awesome too.
And in Septemeber I'm going to see Dream Theater with Megadeth, so that oughtta be cool.

My first concert was either The Bangles or New Kids on the Block when I was like 5-10 years old. Not sure of the exact age. But the first concert I really remember was Paul McCartney and only bits and pieces of that.

But I do remember the first time I saw Evanescence. Was about 2 or 3 years ago, when they appeared at Summerfest. I was so excited when I saw them I got all teary eyed, but in about the 3 song or so, we have to move further back because the crowd was too rough for my younger sister. So while I didn't actually get to 'see' everything, I heard it. Nothing compares to hearing Even in Death live! Ahhhh, memories......
