John LeCompt is credited to have written this song. According to LeCompt, the original name of the song was C Sharp, the guitar tuning of the song. Originally, it was meant to be on Fallen, but never made the cut. An alternate look at the song describes John LeCompt’s secret addiction to Eggo waffles.

Forever You
I wanted you to be with me
For so long I don't even know why now
But now that I've given up on you
Defiantly you see me
Walking away I see the pain
You put me through
Lost in your game to change the same
Forever gone, forever you
There's something very wrong about this
I think you knew all along somehow
You'll only take me to change my mind
And leave me broken and defeated
So far away I see the truth
I see through you
Now that I know the way you play
I don't want to
Walking away I see the pain
You put me through
Lost in your game to change the same
Forever gone, forever you

Eggo Waffles!? WTF!? (By the way, how/where do get the stories from? It's so damn interesting what inspired the artist to write a certain song and the whole story behind it is... well... I find it interesting...)

An addiction to waffles? That's pretty sweet. :D
Now when I listen to this song, waffles will be on my mind.

Waffles? What the.... So does this mean that he is in love with waffles and when he tried to get off his addiction it caused him pain? That sounds like something everyone could relate with (ah, what would life be without video games). Next thing you know when I try to stop playing video games I will end up writing a song about it lol. Still though, interesting story behind the song.

On a couple of websites I've seen this song being called "Forever You" and not "Forever Gone, Forever You". So what's the right title of it?
Originally, it was meant to be on Fallen, but never made the cut.Was it recorded during the Fallen session or earlier?

it's "Forever Gone, Forever You" and to your second question, I think earlier... not sure... almost positive, though...

I found this video and I'm not sure if it's real because the bits with videos from other Ev songs have some TV Network branding on them, but the girl with the black wings looks so much like Amy, are those parts of an official ev video?

They used clips from various music videos and shows of Evanescence. The girl with the wings is Amy from Broken music video (Seether feat. Amy Lee).

I don't know why but today when playing Forever Gone, Forever You, I noticed something that I never had before, Amy does this faint, but powerful screaming thing after the second verse in the chorus. It's right as she sings "so far away...".

The musical phrasing in this song is similar to Bring Me To Life. Some of the words are similar too. The part when she says, "Now that I know the way you play." reminds me of BMTL when she says, "Now that I know what I'm without."

As far as I'm aware, this song was recorded at the same time as the demo versions as all the fallen tracks. Along with Anything For You and possibly Bleed (I Must Be Dreaming). They all have the same sort of industrial/electro/metal sound - especially Forever Gone... and Anything... - I'm presuming when the band was re-recording all the Fallen tracks, Anything For You and Forever Gone... didn't really fit with the whole feel/theme of the album any more, so they got cut.

The beginning of Disturbed's "Sacred Lie" sounds alot like the beginning of this song... I think it's pretty cool.

It's just a carried out "Ah" made to seem like a scream by the way it reaches higher notes, as a scream does. Or it could be there to resemble an actual scream of being fed up with what she's talking about in this song. She does this after "Walking away..." also.

I am like in love with this song and I've listened to it a thousand times but I've never heard that part of the song. *runs to mp3 player and listens to song*

Okay. Someone said that a band member confirmed that this song wasn't called "Forever Gone, Forever You" but that it was just called "Forever Gone." Is this true? If so, where is the thread? I searched but couldn't find it.

I'm pretty sure that the correct title is "Forever Gone, Forever You" but most people think it's just "Forever You". Dunno where you got the just-"Forever Gone" part. ;)

That's exactly what I was going to say, and in my opinion, it's even better than Bring Me To Life, even though I like both of them, I prefer Forever Gone, Forever You. :)

Haha yea.. He corrected me on just about everything I said. Like in "Understanding," he corrected me and said that it wasn't "We're supposed to try and be real. And when you feel alone, you are not together. And that is real." And that it was, "We're supoosed to try and be real. And I feel alone when we are not together. And that it real." And he also said that it's not "God, just don't hate me." And the correct phrase is "Please don't hate me." And I replied and said "Okay, apparently you haven't seen "When A Man Loves A Woman!" If you have, you would have realized that it is "We're supposed to try and be real. And when you feel alone, you are not together. And that is real." And that it's "God, just don't hate me" as well. I watche dit with subtitles and maybe you should do the same!" or something along those lines. lol. I was pretty mad ay him.
But anyways, I think it's "Forever Gone, Forever You." If the band says otherwise, then it's what they say it is. ;)

That's because whoever leaked the demos is the one that put the names with them. Just like every demo for "Bleed" said "Untitled/I Must be Dreaming" when that wasn't really the name.
You guys are gonna drive me nuts. This is the last time I'm gonna say it, but either Amy or John...I'm pretty sure it was John, said the song is just "Forever You". If you don't want to take my word for it, whatever...but, it was said.

Hello all! Yes Mindrage RAWKED!!!!!!!!!!!!! John did write that song as a solo thing he did between the Mindrage split & joining up with Evanescence! (that let's you know how long ago that was -hehehe) And the original version (which I am now listening to because you guys are making me remember back when - hehehe) called C sharp was all john when he recorded on our home pc. He did all the music & all the lyrics, he played it all & sang it all! So pretty - hehehe. Okay then came the lovely Ben & Amy, they loved as John loved it so added a little Evie to it and there was the beginning of Forever You. Amy did her own lyrics to that version. I think that clears up everything or makes it worse who knows! hahaha :D
Also, if you check out Mindrage (on the evboard b/c they are the scholars of john knowledge :D) you should check out Killsystem here too!!!! :D

It always reminded me of "Taking Over Me." It kinda sounds Egyptian-ish during the intro. My favorite part is the use of Amy's voice as an instrument towards the end of the middle.

The riff in the beginning sounds like some Testament riff :D but anyway the song is very good. Eternal Evanescence!!!!
