Forgive Me
Can you forgive me again?
I don't know what I said
But I didn't mean to hurt you
I heard the words come out
I felt that I would die
It hurt so much to hurt you
Then you look at me
You're not shouting anymore
You're silently broken
I'd give anything now
To kill those words for you
Each time I say something I regret I cry I don't want to lose you
But somehow I know that you will never leave me - yeah
'Cause you were made for me
Somehow I'll make you see
How happy you make me, oohh
I can't live this life
Without you by my side
I need you to survive
So stay with me
You look in my eyes and I'm screaming inside that I'm sorry
And you forgive me again
You're my one true friend
And I never meant to hurt you

Wow, is all that came out of my mouth when I first listened to this song and my jaw dropped. Forgive me is one of my absolute favorite songs by Evanescence. I'm a bit surprised that there are no posts on this song yet, I think it's so good that it deserves like 100 posts.
Forgive me, I can closely connect to my undying loyality and love to my best friend and my friends. Whom of which gave me this song. And now since I did something that upset her, this song's value to me has grown. I'm screaming I'm sorry, I feel like crap because I fucked up and she won't acknowledge that I'm living. Forgive me is giving me some hope that things will get better.

Just an FYI there's a video in circulation on the net somewhere that claims to be an insanely rare live performance of Forgive Me by Evanescence. It's not, though. It's just a cover - don't let your hopes build up like mine did. LOL

I heard that too. Unfortunately, my hopes were up too. I near about cried when I found out that it wasn't them.
I love this song though. When I hear it, I think about when me and my ex used to fight and I used to have it on repeat for like 4 days straight.

This is a great song indeed. The way the choir reaches those insanely high notes at the end makes my heart jump.

I've always though that it would sound good with just Amy singing, and a String Quartet. I don't know why but I've always wanted to hear a version like that :p Amys beautiful singing and weepy strings certainly would make me cry!

question: is it just amy and ben performing on this? or is david hodges playing the keyboard?

It was Amy and Ben. David didn't come into the Ev picture until '99.

I wish I could play this song for Lindsey, my former best friend. It's like it was written just for me. It's my favorite from Sound Asleep.

I once wrote a poem inspired by that song for a friend, who I accidentally hurt :(

I hope you two are still friends. Losing one is hard to deal with. :( :( :(
I love this song because of the memories. The pain that I feel inside seems defeated for a while. It's a way to hide from life. I love hiding. It's the only thing that seems real now.

yes we still are. It was a while ago, and now everything is forgotten and forgiven. It was actually a misunderstanding, but everything is good now...

I know I'm a bit late, but...
In a radio interview that my friend Lisa went to someone asked Amy about this song and she said she wasn't the one who wrote it and gestured towards Ben.
So, you should be wondering what inspired Ben to write it :)

I wish my friendship could have been like that.
I guess I can relate to this song, except for the ending, of course. I'm glad it ended with forgiveness. I love happy endings. Whenever I hear this song, memories of my happy times with Lindsey flood my mind. I just wish it lasted longer.

I looooooooove this song (if you can't tell).
It's the most played song on my iTunes, probably because whenever I'm mad or sad I just play it over and over again. It's probably my favorite.
