I used to love Friends, couldn't miss an episode. But recently, as in the last 2 series' or so, it has gone downhill fast. They keep using similar jokes and cheap pops. It's a shame really, as I said I used to love it.

I think the most recent series has been a lot better.

It's too hard to pick a favourite episode, but I really like the one with the unagi (DANGER!!!!)

omigod omigod omigod. Friends was God's gift to the world, in my opinion. I have every available season on DVD, and i can quote every single show as i'm watching it. I love it, i love it, i love it!!! :) :p :D

I have sooo many favorites, but i guess my two top ones would have the be the "Unagi" one, which i see has already been mentioned numerous times before, so therefore i think it's safe to call that one a 'classic'. lol :p

My other fave was the one where Rachel buys the hairless cat, and she brings it into the appartment when joey and ross are in there. and they're like, "what the hell is that?" and she's like "it's a cat" and one of them (i forget which) is like "why is it inside out?" and then joey says "it's not a cat! it's a hand!" omg, that one gets me rolling with tears in my eyes everytime because i'm laughing so hard.

It used to be a good show. It used to be funny..I saw one new episode (at the time - just the last 5 minutes of it) last year and it was horrible...boring jokes. Smackdown is what I watch at 8 pm so...and I work Thursday nights usually so I'll miss the 8pm slot anyways..

I don't have any of the DVDs and don't plan on buying them, but the old episodes were very funny. The show was really enjoyable...unfortunately I was the ONLY person who watched the goddamn show. No one I know watches it. No one I KNEW watched it either. So I couldn't talk about it with anyone afterwards..like you know, with wrestling or some other shows :rolleyes:

Friends has been my favorite show for so long. It's like... comfort food to me now. It has been sucking quite a bit beginning last year, season 9. I don't think I've ever seen it worse than that. Awful. This year's a little better, but still not great. I still plan on buying every season on DVD. I have up to season 5.

Yeah, that whole story line now kinda seems like the writers got it started, and then weren't sure where to take it so they just wrapped it up as quickly as they could and abandoned it. Sorta like pretending it never happened.

I read that they had to do that because Helen Baxendale (Emily) got pregnant, and they weren't sure how to work it into the story, so she had to be written out.

It's kinda too bad, because she's a really good actress - not to mention beautiful and has a great accent. She did a couple of series for Mystery on PBS too, which weirdly were on a different channel at the same time as her Friends episodes.

aww i love friends so much...the new series rocks, not as hard as the old eps but still harder then any other show at the moment. the advertisements keep coming up for the episode tomorrow with that little guy (cant believe i dont remember his name...i love that guy :P)and hes acting as a male stripper i think...dressed in police uniform...and pheobes just like :eek: :p pheobe is my favourite character, shes so weird! i cant believe she is 40 now! one ep that comes to mind is when she goes jogging and she jogs like a total retard...and then rachel starts doing it...friends=priceless :D

I am gonna be SOOO pissed though if Ross and Rachel don't somehow end up together, but by their final segment tonight, I just don't see it happening. I hope Monica and Chandler's baby is healthy. That was funny when Rachel and Monica were saying good bye, and they couldn't understand what the hell they were saying to each other.

Ross and Rachel will end up together, otherwise that would be dumb. They'd piss off a lot of people.

Supposedly there's going to be a DVD with the final episode, out takes, interviews, and an alternate ending that comes out the week after the last episode.

So I just watched it. I really don't know what to think of the last episode. I don't know whether I'm happy or not. There were some things that I didn't like about it but there were certainly some things I was happy about.

Omg the ending was PERFECT!! I won't give it away to those who haven't seen it yet but..YAAAY! I kinda saw it when there was an hour left, it was really good and I'm glad I got to see it even though I haven't been watching it regularly anymore. Bye Bye Friends! :(

I can't believe Friends is actually over. :( I grew up with this show and I've seen nearly every episode and I've loved it since I've seen it. I feel like I've known the characters all my life, and now that the shows over, I just don't know what to do lol. It's like "the end of an era." This has been my favorite show on television and I never thought I would see it go. But it's over now. This is it, it's done. I wasn't even able to catch a special or anything, but i did catch the actual episode thankfully. Man I sure will miss Friends, it was my favorite show and I'll always remember Monica dancing around with a turkey on her head and scaring the sh*t out of Joey lol. Oh man oh man. I just can't believe it's over. I am going to miss it a lot. :(

This sucks. Part of me wants to know what happened now, another part wants to wait until they get round to showing it over here, and part of me doesn't want to ever see the end at all - I just know it'll be too sad for words :( I've been watching Friends since the very very start (blame my sisters for that one, getting a 7 year old hooked on sitcoms), and I don't think I ever want to see it end...

mYea Frasier is ending next week. :( All these shows are ending! I doubt Will & Grace will end anytime soon. It seems to be doing pretty well.

Edit: Oh yea about the Joey show, I love the character Joey, he's my favorite character, but I don't know if he would make a very good show on his own. Shows these days don't seem to do well unless they have a good amount of drama, and I really can't picture Joey and drama lol.

Ummm...did we watch the same show? 'Cause there was non-flashbacky stuff going on in both halves. The retrospective hour long thing before the finale was flashbacks.

I watched Jay Leno last night too. The guys are really funny. The girls seem a little bit shy. My favorite part was when Lisa Kudrow said that she might've not made it to the show because she wanted to go to something for her son's school and one of the people in the audience screamed "THANK YOU!!" (for going to the show). Lisa dyed her hair brown for a movie she's doing and it looks really cute. If you didn't watch it, you really missed out.

Well it's finally over. This was the first episode I watched since Rachel gave birth to Emma! It was sad, but it had to end. I'm kind of suprise that Joey didn't move to LA for next year, and I was expecting Ross to jump on a plane to Paris instead!! I laugh so loud at the "maybe if we're on a break" I couldn't believe he came back with that!!! I'll miss Janice and Chandler!

OUT. frasier (of old, anyway) is CLASSIC. the episode with the spa membership (which i think was last season) with the silver door, etc , when they opened their own restaurant, when niles was trying to be a part of this hosting club and they did it at maris's house and the dead seal kept washing back on shore and they kept trying to weigh it down with maris's stuff so the neighbor called the police to report maris's "murder" ... i could go on forever. frasier is *classic*

oh god, that was disgusting. fine, it wasn't the best episode ever made in the history of television... at least have a little sympathy.

The last episode, wow. Yeah, it was predictable (aside from the twins thing and the foosball table), but that didn't stop me from yelling "NO!!!!" when Ross went to the wrong airport and then again when Rachel still got on the plane after he told her not to. I laughed when Ross was listening to her message and he started yelling at it ("Let her get off the plane!"). I cried, yes, mostly at the very end.... I personally thought it was the perfect ending to a great series. I missed a lot of the previous episodes, but now I'll be able to see them as reruns on Fox :D How come Monica couldn't/didn't have the baby herself? That's mostly what I don't know...

Oh yeah, and I don't really like Frasier either. I don't think I like many other sitcoms (including Seinfeld, Everybody Loves Raymond, and this other one I don't know the name to), except maybe Drew Carey. This could be because I never took time to get involved and learn the characters and story, but oh well :\ I've always favored Friends. I've never seen Will and Grace, so maybe I should check it out... I've heard that one's funny.

"On a break" has different meanings depending on the relationship... For me, it wouldn't mean seeing other people, unless that was established up front. It would just be not seeing that person for a while, and that's pretty much it. You're still dating the person, just not seeing them.

I think the problem with Ross and Rachel was that they didn't establish any sort of rules or boundaries. I still think Ross is in the wrong though, because it just seems wrong to sleep with another girl right away, and then try to hide it from his girlfriend. They didn't break up, after all. And him being depressed is really no excuse :\ Did he get drunk? I can't remember. Even if he didn't, that would be no excuse either. This is just based on what I believe, heh... and I really think what he did was pretty messed up. I don't think it'd be very easy at all to forgive that kind of thing, but I'm glad Rachel did. I think he was truly sorry in the end! :)

I agree with Roxy. I think that be on a break is not see that person but still be with him/her. It's a time to reflexionate about the relationship and the feelings but not for going to do photocopies... I think Ross did it bad and that the break it's not an excuse. Anyway, (and going a little off-topic) later, at the beach, I think that Rachel over-reacts on the letter thing...

I saw Ross is some movie (can't remember the name of it), and he was alright...played a very dorky role, and I would say he was type cast because of his role of Ross, but he wrote and directed the picture himself, so I don't what to say about that. Matthew Perry has been in a lot of movies (with a lot of very attractive ladies too I may add), and I have discovered that he basicly has one character. All of his movies make me think, hmm, Chandler Bing in a different situation. But his plays that role well, but I would say he is limited (although I didn't see him on the show West Wing, in which I heard he was very good.

Matthew's done some dramatic work on Friends with the infertile problems. I was impressed. That along with his part in The West Wing, I think he would be great in dramatic roles.

i bought it the other day, and i think its good!! I have every other friends book and i love this one! I've only read about 10 pages, i dont get very far without bursting into tears! There are a lot of great pictures and quotes!!

i watched all the episodes.. they were really great! i think this new season wasnt as good tho.. and the last episode was ok.. but not that much happened in it..

a really funny one was where ross was trying to get that couch up the stairs.. and he just kept yelling out 'piVAT.. piVAT..' hahha!! that was soo funny!! :D

I LOVE FRIENDS! before Evanescence they were my big obsession. I tape every episode and have 26 video tapes of it!!!!!!! There are still three episodes left to go in New Zealand so I don't want to know what heppens but I have to agree with some earlier comments, its been getting worse over the last souple of seasons but my favourite episode is where they play football on Thanksgiving, it's quite an old one.

I'm really into film and me and my mates deicded to enter a film competition so we used the football one but changed it completey! there were 5 characters and they had a game of basketball, we used a few of the tricks off the football one and we won it! We were like the New Zealand film champions YAY! (but it was so much hard work) I directed, wrote, filmed and edited it and my friends just acted haha they got the easy part!
I'm a bit disappointed about the spin off Joey. I hope that it doesn't ruin Friends.

I'm hardly bothered about a few red dots, but I think I might be more interested if people either explained why (instead of leaving it blank) or just made a thread explaining otherwise and why I was wrong. Just slightly more constructive. And no, "constructive criticism" does not mean "mindless insults."

I like the show because I can relate to a lot of the characters and their problems. I think it's funny because Phoebe and I share the same sense of humor (and we have a weird sense of humor). I don't think it's necessarily "different". There are lots of shows that have sort of the same concept. It was just something I liked to watch every Thursday night when there was nothing else to watch. That's sort of how it became one of my favorite shows.

And I'm sorry you got negative rep points btw. It's a shame that you can't express your opinion on this board if the majority of the people don't agree with you.

That's fair enough I guess. And yeah, it does seem to be quite typical American humour, and some people like that. But I just find it amazing how they make pretty much every character seem as though they're complete dumbasses (and every character is portrayed that way at some point). I just think that it's pretty insulting to people, that somehow they are thought to really be that stupid. And I'm sure they're not (and I have met some pretty stupid people in my time). Admittedly I don't watch it often, I've seen the first 4 episodes and a few of some of the later series (mostly because I can't really stand it for very long) but it seems to be about the same throughout.

If it is filmed in front of a live audience, that doesn't make much of a difference - they still use a sign saying "laugh." It might as well be canned laughter, it's still just as artificial (and sounds it).

They may sometimes be laughing of their own accord, but judging the way that the entire audience laughs, they are being told when to by a sign. If it was genuine, you'd always get the odd place where one or two people laugh, and you don't (at least not when I've seen it). Most shows with that kind of artificial sounding laughter in front of a live audience are done that way, unfortunately.

I wasn't trying to belittle anyone, I just wanted a genuine reply. I didn't think I was forcing anybody to do that, either. I don't expect anyone to reply because they "owe" me something, I was just hoping to get more an answer than flaming, being told to go away, or (as the people I know who I have asked) that they "just do." I've finally watched it, I couldn't wait till next tuesday so I downloaded the last episode. Oh it was sooo great, so funny but so sad, god I can not believe that Friends is over :(, I haven't realized that till yesterday, oh man I'm so gonna miss that show! :(

Friends I think will always be one of my most favorite TV shows I own seasons 1-8 on DVD. I never get sick of watching them. Just recently at christmas dinner my aunt made an english triffle and I leaned over to my brother and said "you put beef in the Triffle and it wasn't good" and he started laughing and almost spit out his food...he knew exactly what I was talking about....I love that show

I love Friends and I think the last series was the best. I think they ended it really well putting characters together (apart from Joey, but he got his own sitcom so hey). Going to miss it now its gone but I still find them as funny as before when I watch them now.

I love Friends, though I don't watch it every night and missed alot of episodes at the end. I can't really pick a favorite episode. I loved the one where joey was showing the guy he could fit into the entertainment center and all his and Chandler's stuff was stolen. And also it was so hilarious when Ross and Monica were arguing while their parents were there and they were like 'well ross did this' and 'Monica broke the swing'...It was so hilarious and this Chandler came out as the one the parents loved. Friends is a really great show, its so sad it has to end.

just been watching the epside when rachel, phoebe and chandler are looking for their presents from monica, and when ross and monica go to that new years eve programme with janine (elle mcpherson) and joey- with all the stupid dancing!! ROFL:D

So she goes home and covers the bike up with a sheet in her room, and Ross comes over and asks where the bike is. She tells him that someone stole it and he rings the bell on the bike and she goes "WHAT THE HELL??!!??" hahaha thats hilarious.I <3 Phoebe :cool:
