My mom found a mud shrimp earlier today in some mud behind our house (the hell?)..it's pretty big, maybe 3 inches long, and it looks like a scorpion with antennas but a flat tail. It's currently in a bowl of water.

These things are really meant for the wild, ain't they? I mean it looks cool and all but it should go back in the wild..I think...

From my knowledge and research, shrimp are very hard to take care of as pets. Very hard as in they require a lot of care and certain room temperatures as well as certain foods being that they're cannibalistic. Plus they don't live very long, a few weeks at max unless you have the proper care requirements?

I'm aware that some shrimp are in pet stores, like ghost shrimp, but I have no clue what type of mud shrimp this one is. It's brown and is similar to a scorpion except with a big, flat tail like a shrimp's and it has big antennas. Gracias for the info, if any.

Ok, holy shit, this post is a really freaky fucked up coincidence. Over the weekend I got this joke Dr. Laura email that was someone saying how they agreed that homosexuality was a sin and that they wanted her advice on certain other matters. So it was stuff like in Bible verse such and such it says we are supposed to stone each other and so I was wondering what size stones would be sufficient. For some odd reason I got really pissed off reading that and I'm not really that Christian of a Christian if you know what I mean. So I went and found my Bible and looked up these verses that were in the email. Somewhere in the Bible I remember reading about what God tells Moses to tell the Children of Isreal they can and can't eat. I was like what the fuck, we're not supposed to eat shrimp!? I LOVE shrimp. And I love double cheeseburgers too and you're not supposed to eat stuff that has a part in it's hoof. So like this is just a really weird post, subject, whatever to have come across. It's like some kind of omen reinforcing what I read already. Aaaaaah, I'm an abomination!

That's good to know, and I'm still going to try and eat less meat and stuff anyway. Lately I've been becoming unattached from products made from animals. Like milk has been making me feel sick and I don't seem to like eggs anymore. It's weird.

It was in our backyard. We've had some at our old house which was a trailer so it's weird. I live in the city too so it's kind of even stranger.

There are some types of shrimp that live in the mud, hence the name mud shrimps. But I'll probably let it back out in the grass (which is where it was) tomorrow night unless she gets to it first. It was kind of cool finding it and all but it's better off in the wild. Of course, I'll probably end up taking a picture of it :rolleyes:
