the last album wasnt that bad. It had some really good songs (so like a rose, drive you home, cup of coffee, shut your mouth, silence is golden..) but yeah I didnt like it like I like the other albums.

yeah when I met Amy I had some of my Garbage stuff with me (it was in a bag I was holding with the ev cd booklet I wanted her to sign) and she thought it was cool. And see I didnt know that she liked them and when I saw them they covered Smashing Pumpkins. but I had heard that they cover OHWIR, I just wished they would have when I saw them :(

the time they covered it was at a juanitas show in...shit...i can't remember now if it was june or july of last year. they played 2 shows on consecutive nights. i have the set list from the one where they played only happen when it rains, signed by ben and may and david. coincidentally, that was the first show (that i know of) where they played bmtl.

I love Garbage as well, and as dev said, nothing they do will top Only Happy When It Rains.....great stuff there. I wish I could have heard Ev cover that song, but alas I did not, lol. My favorite Garbage CD is Version 2.0, but "Garbage" is very good also. And the video for Push It is one of the coolest videos I've ever seen, I love it. We got there late but I got to hear Stupid Girl and Only Happy When it Rains. It was freaking awesome. And they said I would have to find my own way there. I had to beg them to get me my tickets on their credit card because I had SAT's the day the went on sale. Parents suck sometimes. The Pearl Jam concert was supposed to be their last. I remember being wicked pissed about not being allowed to go to it. Oh well. Now I live by my rules under my roof...

BG itself wasn't a terrific album but it had some of the best B-sides Garbage has ever had.

I adore all three Garbage albums. BG was so all over the place, I loved it. "Parade" is one of the most uplifting, makes-me-wanna-go-out-and-live songs I've heard in a long time. I can't decide between the self titled and Version 2.0 for my favorite album, though.

True, but some people just want them to become stale and repeating themselves :( Sometimes they move forward for the best, sometimes for the worst! But they do grow up, so it's just normal that some things change! I'll be waiting for the new cd and counting the days!

exactly. a lot of people think new albums are scary or bad (here's where I make fun of "rocksteady"), but I think this is a good album. I was initially disappointed with it and I don't like it as much as the other two, but there are songs I love on it (mostly those mentioned above) and it's really not scary or bad in any way. I guess I can't change your mind if you don't like the album, but I would say if you're up to it, give it a second chance.

ohhhhhhh finally a garbage thread! i've loved garbage ever since i bought their first cd...prob 1995. their's [along with a nin cd] was the first cd i ever bought. OHWIR is one of their best songs. along with vixen...and i love Sleep.

their 2nd cd was good...but their third one...i haven't fully heard yet. and it's good to know they're coming out with a new cd...i hope it's really good.

I have been listening to Garbage ever since I was little. My favorite song by them is 'Milk'.

Although like alot of others have said, '#1 Crush' is a good song, probably one of the best in the world IMO.

i've got connections and just to say , my aunt is friends with them , very good friends.

I'd like to know that myself. I've searched around and the release date is anywhere from November of this year to early next year January/February. Still nothing official though.

i love them .. i love push it, milk .. etc .. have listened to this band ages now.

I'm a garbage fan.. didn't like em at first then heard "Stupid girl" and "Push it".
Due to lack of money I didn't buy it... eventually picked up v2.0 a logn while after it's release. I also have BeautifulGarbage but to be honest I don't think I've listened through every track yet.. just didn't hook me like 2.0 did. I like pretty much everything from 2.0, but my faves are:

Temptation Waits (reminds me of Buffy)
Hammering In My Head
Push It
The Trick Is To Keep Breathing (love that title)
You Look So Fine (VERY sexy)

I find Shirley Manson attractive, her voice is pretty sexy at times ;)

I used to listen to Garbage back when I was like 16 or 17 ... but then we moved and I started making new friends, and stopped listening to them and started listening to rap, and dance music, going out and partying, but now that I am married, and rarely go out I listen to alot more rock music... still haven't listened to any garbage recenty. Version 2.0 is great that electronica-rock sound does suit them well. I do hope the new album has some of that in it.

I am sooooooo excited Garbage is releasing a new album. I really want to see them in concert again too. I'm so happy with music right now. I was wishing for Rammstein to release something new and they have, and now this. I just said like 2 days ago that I wondered what happened to Garbage. I have all their albums and most of their singles on my iPod plus an Angelfish album. I put it on shuffle and I'm good to go for hours. I love Shirley Manson! She made me finally not be ashamed of my middle name, Shirley. When I saw her in concert she opened for the Smashing Pumpkins when they were touring for M/C/I/S. We got there late but I saw her perform Stupid Girl and Milk. She's incredible, beautiful, and unique. Her music pounds in my car and I love it!!! I have this live version of Vow that is so awesome. YAY...I'm just so excited!!! :D

Drummer/producer Butch Vig told Rolling Stone that the stress of creating Bleed Like Me, due out April 12, forced him to quit the band for four months. "I would go to the studio with a sick feeling in my stomach," said Vig. "And I could tell everybody was feeling that way." Vig returned to the band though. "It's like we'd been married for ten years," he says, "and it was worth it to try one more time."

"It took us a while to all get on the same page," singer Shirley Manson told Rolling Stone. "It's just the nature of human beings: You just want to do your own thing after a while, but you're bound together as a band - sort of like Siamese twins." The band rallied together to finish off Bleed Like Me, which features a drumming cameo from Vig's old friend Dave Grohl on the song "Bad Boyfriend." "He was sitting there pounding the song out with a shit-eating grin on his face," says Vig, who produced Nirvana's Nevermind. "It was fuckin' great!"

Other new songs include the lead single, "Why Do You Love Me," "Run Baby Run," and the political "Metal Heart," which Manson says was inspired by the build-up to the Iraqi War. I got the cd a long time ago for like 7 bucks so I wasn't expecting a masterpiece, but it's still listenable. I've definately heard worse. And yea I wasn't too impressed with the music either. I'm glad she left and joined Garbage. :cool:

Ok so last night I joined Garbage.com and ...well I wouldnt pay 20$ for basically nothing if it was any other band. the forum is crappy and the little blog is too. and I guess they dont even get exclusive pre-sales like it says. but again it is Garbage and they mean alot to me, so I did it.

I wanted to join a little while ago but I'm not much of a fan of official band messageboards and I don't really care about the presale since most shows they do don't even have seats! I don't regret not joining after what you wrote.

I really need to join the Metallica fan club soon.

yeah well I was a member of their official forum in 2001 and alot of the same members from then are members now, so I guess for me it's the people that I get to talk to again.
I dont understand why we have to pay for it, maybe their label doesnt think BLM is doing well so this is an easy way to make money?..

It's a lot easier to control it that way and they probably use that money to pay moderators. Not every band wants to pay someone to check over a forum.

Run Baby Run should be the next UK single from Garbage's Bleed Like Me. The song has been added to some TV and Radio stations, and it should have a September 12th release date.
This will be the 3rd UK single after "Why Do You Love Me" and "Sex Is Not The Enemy".

Sex Is Not The Enemy has been added to some US TV stations playlists. This will be United States' third single, after "Why Do You Love Me" and "Bleed Like Me", both airplay only sigles.
The band is scheduled to appear on the Tonight Show with Jay Leno on July 28th.


That really sucks about Garbage being on the 28th. Since I'll be at the Evparty i highly doubt I will see it.

I think they mentioned a video premiere, but they may have meant Bleed Like Me, which they played. The vids for Why Do You Love Me, Push It, Only Happy, Paranoid, When I Grow Up, and Stupid Girl were also shown (there may have been more, I don't remember now.) Then I believe the live performance was actually the exact same one they did for Fuse, as in they just replayed that show, which was (not in order) Why Do You Love Me, BLM, Only Happy, Paranoid, and SINTE (about half of it).

They also showed little interview chunks, and that was really cool.

Garbage are absolutely awesome. I never admired them enough but just got a hold on them with their new album even though I've always loved 'I'm only happy when it rains'. they have a special way to perform their songs, I think. Hard to describe. This coolness that rocks.

I've been a fan of Garbage for years now. I have all of their CD's. They're one of my favourite bands (second only to Ev, of course.) I got "Bleed Like Me" the day it came out. I was a little over-eager. :D Shirley is the bomb!

Garbage still has what it takes, but their best album was probably beautifulgarbage.

My three favs on it are 'Suck It' and 'Like A Rose' then 'Cup Of Coffee'.

They have much more touring and possibly another album before they're absolutely done.

Before I do the actual update, lemme explain something. Garbage is playing 2 shows in Atlanta today. An exclusive "Live X" (99x chooses an artist or band, has them do a short set 6 or so songs, you can win passes, the show is taped and will probably be played on 99x). The other show their doing here is tonight at Downtown Rocks (free concert series).

Hokay, so I went to the Garbage Live X, NOT the show at downtown rocks. So what I'm about to talk about is the Live X, k?

At first my mommy said we weren't going to go. After I through a fit and cried (yes, I cried), she decided to let Mike (my step dad) and I go, since he won the passes. When we arrive at the club the Live X was at, Mike got in line for a bracelet so he can drink. I rush off to the stage and manage to get us 2 spots like 2 feet away from Shirley. While Mike was gone, I talked to the girl behind me. She was really nice. She asked about Downtown Rocks and I told her about it and how it's a madhouse. So after standing for about 30 minutes, they inroduced Garbage! The setlist was Vow, I think I'm paranoid (I think..I can't really remember), Bleed Like Me, Why Do You Love Me, and Only Happy When it Rains. To be honest, I was kinda unsure if they were going to be good live, after what happened to Shirley's voice, but I was so wrong, THEY EFFING OWNED. Shirley was pretty funny. There was a kid next to me, he looked about 9, Shitley looks at him and goes, "Hey! you like our music? That's awesome!" Then his mom answered, "yeah he does. I took him to see you guys in April and he loved it." Shirley laughed and said, "He has good taste in music!"

Hahahahhaha, when they started Bleed Like Me, Shirley expected the crowd to sing the first chorus, so it's all quiet for 5 seconds because the crowd wasn't singing, then we started, "hey baby can you bleed like me?". Shirley laughed and goes, "Okay, let's try this again" and Bleed Like Me started over.

Sadly, they didn't do a meet and greet or signing. But autographed pics were handed out when you walked in.

Oh yeah and I have to point this out- SHIRLEY SMILED AT ME! Although I do have say this, Shirley is aging. She has a few wrinkles, they must photoshop them out in pics. BUT OH WELL, SHE'S STILL HAWT. :D :D

Garbage is an awesome band! Shirley Manson is kick ass if I do say so myself. I've liked them since their first album. Heh, we even did "Only Happy When It Rains" for drama class in high school. However I haven't gotten their latest album yet :o . I do have the self-titled cd and Version 2.0, but that's it. However if anyone would like to buy me more Garbage (haha), I wouldn't mind. :cool:

My mum got me tickets to see them on 17th October.YAY! I'm so happy and my dad is gonna take me to see them and he likes them as well so thats even better.I've always wanted to see them ever since I bought 'Bleed like me' and my dream is coming true,at last and I've thought about it long and I'm gonna go! GARBAGE have cancelled their tour of the UK, including their show in Manchester.

Shirley Manson and the boys were due to play the Apollo on October 12, but have now pulled all the dates on their tour of the UK, France and Belgium.

A statement on the band's website said: "Having been constantly on the road since the beginning of March the band feel they have somewhat overextended themselves and have mutually decided to conclude their tour at the end of September in Australia.

"The band wish to extend their apologies to all Garbage fans in the territories involved and thank them profusely for their support."

There are no plans to reschedule the dates so anyone with tickets should return to the point of purchase to claim a refund.

Garbage have had 16 hits in this country, including top ten smashes Stupid Girl, Milk, Push It, I Think I'm Paranoid, When I Grow Up and most recently Why Do You Love Me, from their new album Bleed Like Me.

There was an interview with Shirley in yesterdays Herald Sun, in the HIT liftout, she was talking about her love of basketball, and that the song she hates is Breaking Up The Girl, she says she hates it so much, and can't believe she released it!:eek:

ROCK band Garbage will split after their Australian tour this month.

Singer Shirley Manson confirmed the million-record selling band will take an indefinite "hiatus" after the tour ends.
"We've not stopped for 10 years," the Scot said in Melbourne yesterday.

"We always swore if it wasn't 100 per cent fun we'd stop it. So that's what we've decided to do. It was important for us to say 'we're tired, this is becoming hard, we should stop right now'.

"It's something we all felt was the right move. We discussed it in an adult fashion over dinner one day and since then a burden has been lifted from everybody and our live shows have been incredible."

Garbage's impressive string of hit singles include Vow, Cherry Lips, Queer, Stupid Girl, Only Happy When It Rains, Push It, When I Grow Up, Why Do You Love Me?, Run Baby Run, Androgyny and Special.

Rumours of a split first surfaced when Garbage cancelled the European leg of their world tour, due to take place after Australia.

Diehard fans are flying from across the globe to see the final show on the Australian tour in Perth on October 1.

Manson, however, said rather than any tension in the band -- who almost split during the making of current album Bleed Like Me -- it was being in "a good place" that led to the amicable split.

"Things feel really positive in the band, which makes it a good time to take a break.

"We just feel we've reached the end of our tether in terms of our touring cycle. I'm tired and I feel my life is out of control to a certain degree. I just need to get home. The rest of the band feels the same.

"As the life of a band continues you start to reassess your life and the role music plays in it."

But Manson said the band do not rule out regrouping in the future.

"I don't think we feel Garbage will ever be completely over. It's part of our lives, we still all get on well and love each other. We're taking a hiatus, I don't know if we're calling it a day."

Manson admits contemplating a solo career.

"It's something I will undoubtedly pursue at some point, but I don't think I'll ever make music with another band," Manson said.

Garbage play the Palais on Monday and the Forum next Wednesday.

I can't remember which song it was after, but Shirley decided to have a conversation with the audiance. Well, actually it started with her not wanting to be a bitch, but she just had to ask 4 people right in front of her, why they paid for the best seats in the theatre if they were going to sit down the whole night, when everyone else was standing. It was rather amusing.

Saw Garbage tonight for the first time, missed them quite a few years ago when they came to Perth in Western Australia. Show was GREAT. Finally I have a concert that was on par with Ev's. Though they were both different, Ev's was a great concert that ran like the usual, whereas Garbage's tonight was more laid back. It was kind of sad in a way becase it was the end of a tour and Shirley was speaking almost like they were'nt ever coming back. Vig said they are'nt breaking up, but will be taking a very long break.

Okay ....so I had to write this down to commit it to memory so I figured I may as well shove it up here.
DRUM-ROLL...................

On wednesday night ,the 30th of November 2005 I went to see Patti Smith play Horses in it's entirety at the Brooklyn Academy of Music,NY in celebration of the album's 30th anniversary and it was a mind-blowing experience for me.Aside from the obvious highlights, Tom Verlaine and Flea were guesting with the band which was an supercalifragilistic bonus. Tom Verlaine is one of my all time favourite guitarists so to see an icon like Patti play with yet another rock 'n roll icon was heavenly. It was also pretty fascinating to watch Flea play outside his usual comfort zone and he absolutely unequivocally rose to the occasion.My admiration for him increased ten fold after watching him slide into the music as though he played these songs every night of his life.His musicianship and the energy he brought onto the stage was captivating and complimented Patti perfectly and oh lordy lordy when he played trumpet,which was obviously a mildly discomforting and nerve-wracking thing for him to do, he soared on wings and dropped into heaven for a moment. Yum yum delicious.

As for Patti......she was as inspiring and brave,valiant and provocative, touching and sweetly funny as ever.I started to cry (for reasons I am still not quite able to adequately explain) the very second she glided out of black and into the light at the front of the stage.I don't know what it is about that woman but she utterly and completely dismantles me. The show was so moving and mesmerizing,I was captivated from start to finish.When she sang Power to the People she invited a little boy up on stage....he can't have been much older than ten years old,strapped her guitar around his shoulders and left him to jam with the band which he did with great aplomb and not a hint of shyness and I have to say he had a jolly good, solid downstroke and a big shit eating grin on his face and once again I could feel the tears spring into my eyes as I thought about my own youth and what Patti Smith had brought into it.

The first time I ever met her was backstage at a festival in Athens,Greece.We were headlining and she was opening the show.The irony and stupidity of this situation was not lost on me and I was mildly embarrassed about it if the truth be told.
At the time both Patti and Garbage shared record company and our rep,knowing I was a huge and slavish fan,dragged me into Patti Smith's dressing room (Patti Smith's dressing room!!!!) shortly before both of us were due to perform and introduced me to her.And what the hell did I do? I lost my shit.That's what I did. She rose from the couch to meet me and I was struck by how much taller she was than I had imagined.She stood there with her hand outstretched to shake mine, looking so magnificent and dignified and gentle that I was quite shaken.

I began to stumble over my words as I struggled to articulate what she meant to me and my emotions just kind of overtook me and my voice began to gurgle and shake.Tears weld up in my eyes and I could tell that Patti was mildly discomfited by my obvious lack of composure.She was nevertheless completely gracious and kind and went out of her way to try to make me feel at ease by laying a hand on my arm and smiling warmly.I loved her even more for thatcher compassion palpable.
The last time I saw her was at the Montreux Jazz Festival in Switzerland earlier this year.Once again we were headlining the show that night and once again I was struck by the inappropriateness of the situation. Anyhow......

I had been living on a touring diet of nothing but champagne and chocolate for nearly a week previous to our arrival in Montreux (don't ask....it's a long story) and as a result I was ravished by hunger by the time I got to the venue.My sweet and lovel
