Fallen, track 1
Anywhere But Home, track 2
written by: A. Lee, B. Moody, and D. Hodges
Amy Lee wrote the song about a previous emotionally and physically damaging relationship. The song was the last song written for Fallen and was originally plugged as the first single had Bring Me to Life not been put onto the Daredevil soundtrack. It became the second single.
The video is a live-performance/action video and was directed by Philip Stolzl. The video was filmed in Berlin, Germany, but most of it was filmed in Los Angeles, California in May of 2003. It follows the band performing at what can be assumed as a concert in which they’re the headliners, Amy swimming and singing underwater, and Ben being questioned relentlessly by the media (The media’s constant questions about the band’s religious affiliation inspired that part in the video). Evil Dead, one of Ben’s favorite movies inspires the use of the zombies in the video.
Commercial Release: September 9, 2003/September 15, 2003

Going Under
Now I will tell you what I've done for you
50 thousand tears I've cried
Screaming deceiving and bleeding for you
And you still won't hear me
Don't want your hand this time I'll save myself
Maybe I'll wake up for once
Not tormented daily defeated by you
Just when I thought I'd reached the bottom
I'm dying again
I'm going under
Drowning in you
I'm falling forever
I've got to break through
I'm going under
Blurring and stirring the truth and the lies
So I don't know what's real and what's not
Always confusing the thoughts in my head
So I can't trust myself anymore
I'm dying again
I'm going under
Drowning in you
I'm falling forever
I've got to break through
So go on and scream
Scream at me I'm so far away
I won't be broken again
I've got to breathe - I can't keep going under
ps: why is the people translating to every language :|

Can I ask a quick sort of off topic question? I heard this song is played somewhere in the game Enter the Matrix and I was wondering where? BTW this was on the Ev reference thread. Anyway I would just play and find out but I don't really feel like playing the whole game over...

Of post fallen, GU has the EV song record for showing the most of Amy's range. She sings from an E 3 to a D 5. Almost a stunning 2 octaves, which is very difficult for your normal voice..(You try and hit a low E then belt going under.)

My cousin owns the game and I have played it countless times and I don't recall hearing that song. I don't know though. I'll keep searching. Where did you hear that from?

As far as I'm aware, Going Under was also the last track to be written for Fallen....that correct?

Yep...it was also mentioned that had Bring Me to Life not been on the DD soundtrack, that this song could have been the first single.

The song is in the credits of the "Enter The Matrix" game. only choose credits in the main menu and wait because there's a song before Going Under

I know that there was a demo released in 2002, yet I can't seem to find it anywhere. What was the difference between the demo and the Fallen version, and does anyone know where I can find it?
I have heard that there is a demo for this song yet I have not been able to find it anyhwere. What is the difference between the fallen version and the demo version, and where can I find the demo?
Edit: No double posts, please. Read the FAQs! ~GilMod

I have heard that there is a demo for this song yet I have not been able to find it anyhwere. What is the difference between the fallen version and the demo version, and where can I find the demo? You can dl Making Of Fallen (it's quite big a file though), they play it in the background at some point. But it's hard to tell if it's the first demo or just an unfinished version of Fallen GU. All I can say about it is that the demo is harder and when Amy sings "I'm dying again", there seems to be a different background.

I'm pretty sure Going Under doesn't have a 2002 demo...
I'd heard it was written for Fallen and there's just the demo from Fallen for it.

I'd seen it on a website where in the forums they talked about which versions they'd use for burning a fan copy of fallen, and they mentioned a 2002 version of Going Under

I wouldn't trust forums, though. A lot of people like to spread little lies and make people think there's rare songs when there, in reality, isn't.

Here is the link to the website with the Going Under demo on it. It's weirdly complicated, though, coz you can't actually download it. There was a way to do it, but like a gimp, I've forgotten. If people wanna add me on MSN or something, though, I can send it to you via that.
The link is http://evanescencereference.info/music/ - it's on there somewhere. I've gotta say, though...I'm dubious to how real the demo version is...it just sounds like a cross between the real version and the karaoke version....:S Well, anyway - hope that helps.

I loove the song Going Under, and i love listening to it when i'm really frustrated - it helps.
But about the music video, i didn't understand the use of the zombies. Was it showing that performing in front of an audience is scary, or was it, in fact, just almost kind of random or.... ??
I feel so stupid :(

The vocals are definately not the album version.
I really like that version whether it's genuine or not. But I swear I read somewhere that the band didn't want it heard or something?

That is a real demo of the song. It just wasn't drastically changed for Fallen like some of the other ones. They filtered Amy's vocals for the beginning, polished up the production a bit, fiddled with other minor stuff and there you have it.

I don't see why the band wouldn't want that specific demo heard since it's so close to the Fallen version. But I could be wrong. :\

That's the real demo version. I have it. Actually I have two versions. One low quality and one high quality..

They re-record Going Under for Fallen, eventhough, most of the background vocals are the same.

I think the zombies were just for theatrics. Their make-up was brilliant.

This was what Ben and Amy said:
The zombie means the media guys that try to steal something from them - much of the controversy of Christianity, if you see a little better, Ben wear a priest-like suit and he's interviewed in the beginning and he can't talk 'cause the media doesn't give a try... Anyway, the zomie were based on dark movies and they symbolized the media... The video is mainly about that... The video was shoot at the time all that "we're not a Christina band" controversy started, so it was a sarcasm...

Although it is a song about falling and being stuck under someone's power...GU seems like a very empowering song. Since it was the last song written and recorded for Fallen, it did show some quality and insight as to the future of Ev's music. The video adds to the effect of the empowerment Amy goes through, especially when she comes up, emerging from the 'water' into the crowd, it is very uplifting and a great break up song :)

This song made me want Fallen. I heard this and BMTL when I was in the "I hate music" phase. Now it's pretty much Evanescence everything. It took me a few months before I realized there was piano in it.
I like the demo. To be honest, I had lower expectations for the demo. It was different then I thought it would be.

Although the song talks about dying and drowning, everytime I hear it I feel strong, and when Amy sings "I won't be broken again" I want to cry for the emotion of how strong I feel in that moment :D , and the vid is soo amazing too! one of the best songs of evanescence

I was browsing through youtube today and I found an old commercial for the PS2. About halfway through the video, there is a clip that made me instantly think "GOING UNDER!"

It's short but it reminded me of the video. :)

Going Under is one of the best Evanescence songs in my mind and the Best Music video by Evanescence. I think the music video was trying to say that they don't want to be famous they just like making music well that what I came across to me. Great Video & song :D
