Goodnight

Goodnight, sleep tight
No more tears
In the morning I'll be here
And when we say goodnight,
Dry your eyes
Because we said goodnight,
And not goodbye
We said goodnight
And not goodbye

I think,it's about a little child,that doesn't want to sleep,'cause it thinks,all the people,that the little one loves,go away when it sleep.
I suppose it's about one of Amys siblings.

Not much is known about the song. The most we know is that it's written for a Charity (Children's, I believe) in Little Rock.

As far as I know, Goodnight is featured on the same CD with The Void's (aka Ben Moody) Blitzkrieg Theme 2000.

Amy says "now" and not "not."

Amy says "now" and not "not."

She does? that's what I thuoght, too, but I got sheet music [fan made it] and it said "not" and it made more sense to me, so i sing it & play it like that. I didn't need the sheet music, though...it's a pretty easy thing to figure out by ear. But I just got it because I wanted it...but anyway. I thought it was not.

 I'm confuzzled!

Hmm....I thought she said 'not.' If she was saying 'now goodbye,' wuoldn't that defeat the purpose of saying that she was gonna be there for them? Just a thought.

I play this song on repeat when I go to bed, so I hear it in my sleep. It helps me relax. I love it with all my heart!

Yeah, I thought it was Not Goodbye, too... Now Goodbye doesn't make any sense.

Amy says "now" and not "not."If you listen carefully, you'll hear "t" very clearly the second time she sings "and not goodbye".

I still didn't hear the "t" sound, and I had my volum like up a little less than half way... I still hear the "ow" noise.. sorry...

Try listening to it on headphones (if you haven't already). I'm certain it's "not", you can definitely hear the 't' sound in the last line, but the point is Amy drops her T's sometimes when she's singing very softly because you don't want to accentuate a harsh sound like a letter T in a gentle song like that. It almost sounds like "goodnigh" rather than "goodnight" at the end, but nobody's arguing that one :p

This is a beautiful song. Sometimes when I can't sleep I sort of play it through in my head - it's very calming.

Oh okay. I'll listen to it on my headphones in a bit but yea that makes sense on the droped "T." :D

Yes, this is a very soothing song. I listen to it sometimes when I have trouble falling asleep. Once when I was talking on mics to a friend on IM and we were both about to go to sleep, I sang it for him.

Yea it is a soothing song. I usually listen to the "Fallen" version of "Whisper" when I can't sleep. That was nice that you did that. I would have never been able to do that...

I still didn't heat the "T" sound... :(

It makes more sense for it to be 'not' than it does if it were 'now'.

Yea it does, but I don't really think it's what makes sense. I think it's just all in the matter of what we hear, and I hear "Now," so I donno.. I guess it'll be another mystery unless the band/Amy comes and says whatever it is. But in my opinion it's "now." So... :\ I'm not trying to be rude.

Then Drop it already!

Every post you've made in this thread since this topic came up has had something about not hearing the T or hearing Ow instead.

If you're not trying to be rude, Drop it. We know your opinion already.

I haven't been posting since this thread was started...? But it's already dropped. I was just staing it one last time and haven't thought of it since.

Fadingtonothing, please drop it with the petty letter pronounciations. We know your opinion. There is no need to state it "one last time".

If you guys have no intelligent conversation to carry on in not just this thread, but all song threads, your post(s) will be deleted. Again, I say if you have nothing better to add that you agree with the person who posted above you, don't bother posting. And no more of this petty letter pronounciation discussions.

Definitely an effective lullabye. I play this song for my 5-month-old nephew whenever he's tired, but won't sleep. It puts him to sleep every time. I listen to it every night before I fall to sleep.

My mom used to sing 'In My life' by the Beatles as a lulaby, and so now I have my own song to sing to my children someday (Assuming I have any)!

I can't remember who exactly recorded it, but I know it was someone here on EvBoard. I was just wondering how they got such a clean and high quality recording? Was it done in a studio?
