Also, I like trying to get up to the highest wanted level (six). They send tanks out to arrest / kill me. It's pretty tough, and you have to do some pretty bad shit to get up that high, though (like blow up 10 cops and shoot down a heli with a rocket launcher).

I've only gotten 5 stars!! I love getting my bazookas and blowing down the helicopters! I love when the police cars try to chase you, because they go so damn fast that the cars flip over.

HINT: The best place to do a shoot out is the property across Avery's property.

Hahahahhaa. The police cars don't play. They'll be after your ass. When I get 6 stars, I usually hurry up and do the cheat code so I'm not wanted. Hehehehhehee. Shoot outs are shwweeeett. I like to shoot the gang members LOL. Especially in the mall. It's crazy!

I was bored so I went on amazon.com and on the main page they had this game up.

It's already got a 3 1/2 star rating.

Part of the reason is cause dumbasses say "THIS GAME IS GREAT!!!!!!" and end up giving it no stars. Why do people do that?

Seriously...people get way too worked up over this bullshit. I for one am glad there's some fucking diversity for once in a game like this (for the main character)..the only downsides is this will bring many stereotypes as you know :rolleyes: and that G-Unit will take part of this game somehow. If you seen the animated My Buddy video, well...you got a clue now how this game will be? (the video is basically kind of cool but cheesy at the same time. After watching it you'll think that and "G-Unit really considers themselves gangsta huh...animated ones, sure!"

It's strange, but shooting the hell out of strangers on a videogame and running them over is actually what us humans have come to enjoy. Ah well, not harming anyone! This game rocks. I played GTA3 non-stop (except sleeping ;)) for about 3 days before I got bored of it. And Vice City was a whole lot more fun because the lead character actually talked. They need to make this game tell a real good story.

And, it's weird that a person like me who likes a challenge would rather play a mission three times over... I mean, after that I just get pissed off and want to smash the screen in. Like those goddamn remote control airplane missions or whatever. FUCKING ANNOYING CONTROLS. Die.

I love GTA. My favorite is Vice City because I know it like the back of my hand. Though I'm pretty familiar with 3 as well...can't wait for this one. My fiance will be buying this before it hits anyone else's hands lol.

Yea, when I was on vacation at Virginia Beach with my mom's friend and his kid, this little dude was up till 2, 4 am in the morning and lied about going to bed earlier than me so he'd look like an angel :rolleyes:

Why was he up that late...PLAYING VICE CITY ON MY LAPTOP! This fool woke me up at 2, 3 am to watch him play since he just got a tank, etc. He's like 9 or 10 right now, but last summer he was like.."That's ho is ugly..U-G-L-Y!! Now her...she freaky..:D" The hell! Dude is 9 or 10 and he's a mini-pimp (pimp as in the mainstream's definition) crazy.

And yea, I hated those fuckin controls for that remote control helicopter. Took us about 7 or 8 tries (me and my friend) to beat it. I ended up being the one who got it on like the 7th try. On the computer tho, that was a totally different story..it was possible after 7 tries on the PS2, but the PC, never finished that..

I'm in the process of replaying these games minus the cheats; much harder! I'm on the last few missions of GTA3 and I have to say I'm quite proud of myself for not having used any cheats, but it ain't half difficult lol. I'm dreading playing Vice City again. Oooo GTA3 w/o the cheats. You are a brave soul... I couldnt do it wihout cheats. I am just so used to having every weapon and the higest amount of mney and the lots and lots and lots times infinity of ammo. Hhahaha I would be too scared. I tried it once without cheats (before I knew how to use the cheats) and I couldnt kill all of the Colombians on the "Spank" ship with a rifle or whatever it is that 8 ball gives me....Taht sucked! now I use the grenade launcher.. MUCH easier....

This game is going to rock! In terms of land size the game is about four times the size of Vice City. A bunch of houses are going to have interior designs unlike GTA3 or VC. If it's even half as cool as VC it's going to have a great soundtrack. The AI system has been tuned for more realistic responses by the NPCs around you.This is just speculation but there's supposed to be a mountain that is so huge that it even takes a helicopter over 30 seconds to reach the top of so flight restrictions are probably going to be notably higher. And to top it all off even the director of the game has said that he has not yet found a way to complete it in less than 150 hours. I wouldn't be surprised it won game of the year.

...I just checked the website and it said for Grand Theft Auto: San Andreas for Playstation2, which wasn't a probelm until i broke mine, and i bought an xbox as a replacement... and i just realised that me won't be able to play it... i searched around on google and rockstars site to see if they is gonna be an xbox version released and i can't find anything... so anyone know if they is?

Yeah, you're one of the few who beat both games (especially Vice City) without any guides or cheats. That shit is too hard for me.

As for the Xbox version, it'll probably come out in 2 years or something :rolleyes: that's what they did with Vice City anyways. To my knowledge there's only a PS2 version in the works from an article I read a few months ago.

Basically. My big secret for vice city...Once you earn your way across the bridge... make frequent stops at the hooker inn and stock up on rocket launchers.

on GTA 3. I figured that the bulletproof patriot was the best thing you could save... So I made sure that if it blew up, I'd restart my mission to keep it.

Actually, I beat GTA: Vice City with one cheat: cars float. Cuz so so so many times, I would get into a chase or car escape, and somehow flip into a river or bay or something.

I kind of wonder how they're going to be able to top Vice City's gameplay aside from the swimming. I imagine it's going to be more of the same stuff if you're not doing the missions (which is not what I really did)..but everyone's told me that even tho you get bored as hell after playing freely for awhile, that the missions bring the excitement back into the game (not to mention the frustration as well). I just found my Vice City PC game and might play it soon (too bad I lost my PS2ish PC controller, I think a friend has it)..I just can't get past the helicopter mission on a computer T_T

I completed Vice City without cheats, but i thought GTA3 was hard and i used all the cheats i found for it, but im playin thru it again now... because my m8 let me buy his old ps2 off him for £50 cos he got one of those silver ones now, so i should be able to get gta:sa when its released...

Haha, GTA3 was hard for me. I played 4 after I played VC, and I had to get adjusted, even to the cars. The cars, other than the Yakuza, are serious crap. The kuruma (which translates to 'car') is the best car of the game for me. I hardly got a hold of any real good cars. And I missed the motorbikes. So yeah, I ended up using a bunch of weapons/armor and tank cheats.

This game incorporates hip hop into it so it's looking much better than Vice City somewhat (I like Vice City due to the '80s theme, but this is nice too)..I just hope there's a mission where you can fight against G-Unit but knowing them, they wouldn't allow themselves to be defeated unless it's like the last mission or some shit T_T

It'll be cool tho if you can join as a member of the NWA somehow or something. This game I'll definitely play the missions for, which I didn't with Vice City.

Be sure to buy the earliest copies available. Remember how the Haitians' got their panties in a wad when there was a "kill the haitians" mission in Vice City.

Sweet. I'll definately be picking up GTA: San Andreas when it comes out. I loved Vice City and so far from what I've read, I'll love San Andreas just as much, probably more. The best part of Vice City was just trying to run from the cops. I think I only got up to four stars before I was eventually caught. I've got to try for six next time. When I first got the game, I was all set to complete every mission until I got bored of that, and decided to shoot down a few cops and innocent bystanders. :cool:

Yeah, I read every bit of info I could get on Def Jam: The Fight For NY and had played the demo a lot, so once I got the game it was pretty easy and I had already known about nearly every single thing in the game...that was kind of a letdown. Same happened with Donkey Konga recently except there wasn't much to that game anyways. I went to IGN.com recently and I saw on the front of the Playstation 2 page that they had this new city revealed or something. Damn. Since early '90s west coast shit interests me I guess with all the additional stuff I don't know about (yet), it should be a pretty nice surprise :cool:

Chances are they won't get the game until Wednesday...I'm guessing San Andreas drops on a Tuesday (when most games do)...seems like only EB Games and Gamestops get them on Tuesdays. Gamestop never seems to call the day of the release date tho, EB Games called me in the mornings they opened for me to pick up my game. But with San Andreas and Halo 2 I'm sure they'll be busy on the phone.

Tonight's the night for people who preordered. Most Gamestop and Electronics Boutique stores are selling them tonight starting at 7 PM East Coast Time. I'm about to drive down there in a few hours. Apparently a line is already starting to form at the EB that I preordered at. Damn I'm glad I paid off everything ahead of time.

Anyways the game got a 9.9 from IGN.com (that's crazy!!) and Gamespot gave it a 9.6. Yo I ain't read what is in the game so I'm ready to be surprised.

All I know is about the sound and some basic shit. I can't wait to be playin to some 11 stations with Dre, Snoop, Guns N Roses on there, etc., shit is gon be crazy.

The only thing that doesn't thrill me is how much memory it takes up.

After playing for about 2 hours I personally think I like Vice City better.

The game's got rock, funk, and country stations, not just rap (although there's 2 rap stations). It's cool with the gangbanging and all that but I don't know.

The main problem is I can't give a good opinion cause I can't really play the game for a long time. Maybe 20 minutes max cause it really gives me a headache. Something about the graphics makes my eyes really sore and I get a huge headache from it unfortunately. This is the second game I've had this problem with (first being Tony Hawk 3)...I had the same problem with Vice City but after renting it twice I bought it for the computer and had no problems with it on here.

It's definitely detailed of LA tho, I recognized some places. If you don't like gang violence then this definitely ain't the game for you I guess (not speaking of Vice City/Sopranos type violence since 'fuck', 'nigga', etc. are said in the game every now and then with the addition of gangs everywhere with guns/gang signs)

It's definitely worth a rental tho I guess. My favorite parts of the game so far are walking by and hearing random people go, "Smokin makes me intelligent!" and "Can't you see I'm tryin to smoke some weed?" :D

The swimming part is cool and the cops in this game are stupid as hell. In Vice City they'd be everywhere chasing you down, in this game every time I got 1 or 2 stars the police would be nowhere in sight. I'd rarely see them and it was easy to get rid of the wanted level(s).

The Faggio is still in the game T_T

At one point I had my own crew with 4 dudes following me with guns :D

But so far it's fun...like I said befo, I kind of liked Vice City better but it's a change (not necessarily bad). I'm just kind of pissed off the game's graphics make me sick (literally)...so I can't play it too much.

Strange, I hadn't thought about buying the game until I saw this thread today (my friends were talking about it a few days ago)... I didn't know if it would be in yet, or if there'd be any left, but I chanced it and totally lucked out. I got the last non-preorder copy that EB had. Pretty sweet stuff.

As for the game itself... I can't compare to anything previous because I only played a bit of GTA3 at a friend's place and never Vice City, but I really enjoy it so far, and played it for a good 3-4 hours straight (with the Red Sox in the background :D) earlier today. This might just be the game that gets me back into videogames. Maybe.

I bought the strategy guide lol.

There is the one infront of the house, then the one behind the house in the alley. When you drive to Ballaville, you get the one on the side of the building, then spray the Ballas in the face and get that one on the wall... then run around the corner to the red circle, jump the fence, jump the other fence, climb the thing behind the building and climb on the roof, the last one to tag is up there. :D

Unfortunately I got busted so I turned off my PS2 and will have to restart the mission all over again and maybe the one befo that one too T_T I was having too much fun with my crew following me around (who does nothing to help or defend you in beatdowns apparently, both giving and receiving) and spraying peoples till a cop busted me T_T

I've yet to make CJ eat lots and lots of food and get fat, I actually want to see the pedestrian's reactions to that shit. Same with learning limited combos and using gang signs/language. I'm definitely going to have to figure out something like changing the screen/TV settings so the visuals won't give me headaches/eye strain for some reason after a short period of playing.

I've contacted TARGET and they're in stock today. They're holding it, and I'm picking my copy up today. Hoo-fucking-ray!

Yeah, the radio stations are different. You use the d-pad (up and down) to change them this time (I liked the L1/R1 way better)..the talk shows on each station vary by the vehicle you drive, so that's a nice feature. I haven't heard the talk shows as much but they're silly and the music is great too. 2 rap stations, 1 funk, 1 country, 1 rock, and 1 latin station I think. Driving around to Guns N Roses or The Chronic - fun :D

I'm not an avid GTA player like everyone else in the world. I only play it once in a while, but god damnit I nearly creamed my pants when I saw the Radio X alternative station.

San Andreas rocks by default since that station is on it.

I think alot of those are the same from VC, at least the weapons codes are.. If your going for 100% you shouldnt save while using codes or it might keep you from getting 100% like it did in the last game to some people..

I'm still in the first city, Los Santos, and I've gotten to the new work at Burger Shot

ive managed to unlock the other islands, but theres still one mission that i cant do. its a Zero mission, and ive got to shoot down all of these little bastard remote control planes that are trying to blow up Z's transmitters. that is ROCK hard. i managed to do it once a bit ago but i forgot to save it :(

(oh and btw, my character is sexah :P i dressed him well :D)

Yeah, that mission is tough, after that you have to fly a remote controled plave around the city killing targets.... I cant do it :(

Have a feeling the Zero missions aren't gonna be too easy... I tried the one trying to keep the transmitters from being killed, and.... i managed to shoot Zero. Awesome.

My friend pulled a classic move by forgetting to turn his PS2 off, and then coming back to see his dude had returned to his original wimpy-ass form. He compounded this by saving the game, so he couldn't revert back to what it was before.

Today, I made it to the dancing part on the beach. That is HARD. I can't press buttons that fast... guess I'll have to practice some. :(

i do/did surprisingly OK at the rhythm missions, considering in real life, i can't dance worth shit.

haven't played in two days, at least on my own game... i had to beat two Cesar races for my friend (Fern Ridge-Panopticon and then the return race right after).

I still have a question... cheats or no cheats? I seem to be the only person I know (out of a bunch of my work friends) toughing it out without them... others just tell me that i'm crazy and am missing out on half the fun. Personally, I think it adds to the challenge, and as long as it doesn't get stupidly frustrating, then I enjoy it more that way.

It reminds me of downloading songs off a CD before you actually buy it. It just seems to take something away from the whole thing, even though it's easier (or in this case, cheaper) to do it that way.

Oh, and the other thing is that sometimes cheats can't help you (in certain missions, etc).

I'm not using any cheats this first go around. However, I did look up how much longer I have left to go in Los Santos... on one of the game narratives. Seems like that city's missions go on forever.

lmao, can you believe it? it's my 12 year old cousin that made me discover that lol, we had so much fun playing it, well if you can call that 'play', we weren't really following the missions, just stealing cars, beating hookers, smashing up peeps and annoying cops hahaha, way too much fun!!!

I gave in and used a cheat to get a bunch of money because I was sick of having a save point so far away from the car racing missions at Cesar's. Since I had to do the second one about 20 times, I gave in and bought some property closer to the mission site.

That second mission for Zero, controlling the little plane and killing the couriers...has sucked out my will to live. I can't do it.

The Cesar races are a bitch. I've got a friend who... for whatever reason... CAN'T race, so he's had me pass all those races for him. I actually don't dislike them that much, but I also play a fair amount of racing games.

That damn Zero courier mission. I somehow doubt we're the only ones... that is, if others can even GET to it. I've heard of people who gave up playing the game after the first Zero mission (the shooting the planes out of the sky one, which was also a bitch).

You have to complete Sweet's missions to go to the next island. Don't worry about about the territory wars yet. You lose any territory you have gained when you hit the second island anyway.

I had to do a mission before those in order to unlock it... the high stakes-low rider mission, where you race w/ the mexicans. I won, and that unlocked reuniting the families and the green sabre. After I got through green sabre, i was dumped in a hick town and told to kill a snitch. then I met catalina.

I made some progress finally (and this is good, considering I haven't played in a while due to school workload).

I thought that too, the first couple times I played it, and after I threw my controller into the screen and nearly broke it and the TV.

But then it started to get easier. Just look on the map to see which red dots are closest to you, and take them out in order - it does a world of wonders. Also, try your hardest not to use the control sticks to turn left or right...only use R2 (right) and L2 (left).

A tip for the second Zero mission:

I found all the Zero missions easy and a good tip is that zeros plane has excellent shooting range. keep firing at your target and as soon as you see you are hitting the target stop accelerating with the plane and it will keep up the same speed. This way you don't need to get close to the targets meaning you dont get shot much and your closer to the other targets when the current one blows up. You'll probably find once you have destroyed all the targets that getting back to the roof on the low fuel is more of a problem so don't stray too far and get those targets blown up as fast as humanly possible :)

Just so you know Zero's missions do NOT have to be completed to beat the game. If you’re not going for the 100% game completion rank, I’d skip the headache that is Zero's missions.

Nah, some people can do the boat missions so easily and I can't do them for anything. I just like flying on games so I guess I find it fun where others find it tedious.

Flying school suked ass, but my friend is an expert, so he did it for me :D

I ended up beating the game tonight. It is cool that even when you finish beating the game the city is still open and you can continue to take over gang territory, etc. I just wanted to beat the game, so I did the minimum taking over to do so. :)

Have you all heard? There's an apparent download (for the PC version) called hot coffee... that unlocks explicit sex scenes. I have a PS2 copy, so I am missing out, it appears.

As far as game progress goes, I'm about 1/2 way through the Las Venturas missions. But I keep getting distracted with all that gambling nearby. Argh. Maybe one day I'll finish this game.

Haha the flying school was so annoying :mad:. I'm quite proud to say I'm shit at flying any plane apart from the jet thing, but I'm a beast with a bike! I got 100% in all tests at the bike school so I'm happy. :) Does anyone know where to get an Admiralin San Fierro, because I've looked all over and I can't find one and I can't be arsed to drive one all the way from Las Venturas. :rolleyes:

Make CJ standup on the bike. You’ll go faster and should be able to catch it.

Even better, press up while accelerating but not hard so CJ ducks, he'll go even faster.

Some people say standing up is faster but there was a guy who actually did experiments with EVERY vehicle in Vice City and used a formula to discover their top speeds. Lonely person. He found out ducking is faster than standing. I guess it's the same for San Andreas.

Flying, for me, was a breeze. My best most of transportation was taking a jet pack to the airport and getting into a little plane. My favorite mode of landing? Sky diving. I -really- had to adjust to the ultra-sensitive controls, though. One slight shift to the left- and my plane banked straight down and left and crashed. I really wanted to bail from my plane and see it crash, but the camera was too busy watching me skydive.

You play it on PC or PS? On PC there's a cheat code LIYOAAY - slower gameplay. With this code gettin' on the plane will be piece of a cake:p :p:p

You know one mission really early on that was doing my nut was the one where you have to drive next to the train while that bloke shoots the guys on the train. He seemed in capable of killing them all! I did it like 10 times. Going between the trains was fun though, watch bike skill shoot way up...

I've laways liked doing HELICOPTER BATTLES!!! I don't remember if there's a helicopter that has weapons in San Andreas, but in Vice City I'd get the helicopter, get at least 3 stars then have air-to-air battles :D

There are some people that are actually disappointed with San Andreas...They must've had their expectations way way too high because I didn't know anything about San Andreas until the day before it came out (I got it a day early) and I give it a score of 999/10

i dont like the fighter jet, i cant control it properly. i like the jet pack though...that it fun, and i like making him fly up really high and then parachute out. my brother does all the missions and i just drive around and shoot everyone....im very very violent in that game. have you guys done the two player bits?? thats funny, cos i slashed my brothers character with a sword, and he died :D :D

There were sexually explicit interludes and game elements already coded in the game that can be unlocked with a special code. The code is "hot coffee" apparently. This applies only to the PC version of the game not the console version.

It's all superfluous anyway as RockStar Games is now furiously re-releasing the game without the hidden sex feature to retain the marketable "M" rating. So if you have the current version consider yourself the owner of a highly valuable commodity.

Gamespot has confirmed, via a long and involved process, that the PS2 version of GTA: San Andreas contains the 'Hot Coffee' content. This essentially means that Rockstar was untruthful when it previously stated the content was added by a modder, but "Given that the minigame is about as raunchy as an episode of Sex and the City, cannot be accessed without entering a long string of cheat codes, and takes several hours of effort to access, charges that San Andreas is 'pornographic' may seem extreme to some."

After saving, our test editor had Carl visit the house of his nearest girlfriend, Denise in Los Santos. Carl then took Denise on a series of dates to the nearest bar. After a few complications--including being busted for two-timing by another of CJ's girlfriends--we completed a fourth date with Denise, after which she invited us into her house for "coffee."

The next screen proved that the PlayStation 2 edition of the game does indeed include a sexually graphic minigame, which plays almost exactly the same as the Hot Coffee mod. San Andreas is the BIGGEST game on PS2 that there is and ever will be. You can see so far into the distance, the map is huge with no loading times. Not just from north to south and east to west, but all the way up into the sky as well! It would be a nightmare programming all that and still making its graphics shiny.

Graphics aren't important anyway, and you said you've "seen it in action", so does that mean you haven't played it? Do you KNOW how much you can do in this game?? :p

And Denise was FINALLY in!!!!!! I was like OMFG! I was in some lowrider with black smoke coming out and only 3 wheels and one door, but I still picked her up in case she wasn't there by the time I came back with a whole car. So I finished the date, and I crashed slowly into a lamp-post and it went on fire. So I guess it was lucky I didn't hit anything while she was in the car......
