I searched and didn't find any threads specifically about this series.

I like the anime and I like the video games (although they can be a little frustrating). With the approach of using a world within a world or players playing a MMORPG, the game and series bring a unique spin. There are other fans of this series here right?

I've seen up to about the 5th or 6th episode. It seemed really good, although confused me a little at first :p

Yes I definitely need to watch it.
It's been a while it has been released......;and both video games and anime seem really original...

The four games come with 45 minute DVDs too (.hack//Luminality). Already in the first game, .hack//infection you see much of what makes the anime what it is. Needless to say I was surprised the first time Helba showed up. With all other RPGs, its you controling the character or characters. With these games, your character is Kite. But unlike other RPGs, the other characters in the game know Kite isn't real. They know he is a game character, controlled by a player. It is actually the player controlling Kite that you 'RP' as. You can log out of the game 'The World' and read news, send and receive emails, ect. I've played my fair share of MMORPGs and I think they've done a good job of capturing things in both the anime and the games.
