Geez, between the EvBoard server last night and my server this morning, I didn't think I'd ever get here!

Thanks for the little hint about the single. And you're right - we shouldn't be judging until we've heard it. It's just fun to try to guess what the song is about or what it's going to sound like until it comes out, haha! From what you said there, I think we all know what the song is about. It's just the awesome lyrics we're waiting for now! Be brave, Amy, and don't hold back. That's sort of my problem when I write (and I don't know why because hardly anyone sees it!) - I'm afraid to express myself, afraid to see how dark I can go, so therefore, I always end up holding back. Not anymore. I'm changing that now. :) It's amazing how our emotions affect our writing - personally, I can't write when I'm 'happy' - I have to be pissed, or in one of my 'moods', which is pretty much always.

Anyhow, I've rambled on long enough. I'm glad the album isn't all 'rainbows and butterflies.' That is the only thing that could make me the littlest bit disappointed. I know you and the guys have worked so hard, and I can't wait to hear the finished product. I already know that I'll love the album, as I love anything that you produce. It's honest, it's real, it's you.

Well, it's all working so far, Amy (talking about the not giving people what they expect thing). There has been a load of unpredictable stuff coming at us and therefore, there have been a lot of questions floating around, from things relating to the name of the album, all the way to the names of some of the songs. I'm just really glad to hear that there will be some heavier stuff and that we are going to get something unique.

happy to feel you around us and worried about what we are thinking, what we are feeling during this long time with no new releases! But i have to tell you , as you said , even reading your text, i didnt get the "new sound" and thats normal, because we can only do that hearing the new material! But just the fact that you were able to spend 5 minutes or more (:)) writing this post for the fans is amazing!

We have to be open minded ( i agree), and i hope that this album speaks about many dark subjects in our society, like religion, or other kind of matters that in my way of thinking should be shout to the world throught art, in this case trought music.

More one thing, dont be worried about the image that you will give within this new era, i mean, at first everyone was all saying... Evanescence has "this style" and this style, but now we all know that you are all amazing persons and simple persons, so i think that the most important is the music (the music is the art that you are giving to the world, not the image).

But we dont need to be worried about that... Im sure that what we`ll hear will be different and even more mature (and thats what we need to hear "Different Music")... Inovate dont imitate eheh :)

Its ok. It woldnt have even made a difference. I was on at the time but had to shut down my computer because there were so many people trying to get on. It was so slow you couldnt do anything anyway. I couldnt get on for hours after that either...

Yay me for being incredibly unoriginal...:rolleyes: but it's the truth! I don't know, personally I don't want to hear a clip before it comes out, I want to get it on the day and have it be a total surprise, but maybe I'm just weird. It might be a little weird hearing something new, just because I'm so used to hearing Fallen and all the old stuff, I mean I heard the old stuff early enough that it wasn't a big deal, but now it's been a few years only hearing Ev do those songs and then suddenly new ones, a different style... I don't know, maybe it's the OCD... but I'm still going to love it! :D

This sounds like The Open Door will be impressive. One of the biggest criticisms that I've heard from non-Evfans is that all the songs were 'samey'. Even though I disagree to a point, and most of them hadn't even heard anything beyond the singles so their opinion isn't worth much, this will still hopefully give the masses more chance to listen to how you guys open yourselves up, emotionally and openly. The Open Door, indeed.

Me either. I used to though. I admit I used to check Amy's profile a lot (almost daily) to see if she posted, but I guess I grew out of that. Now when she posts, I just read it and that's it. the discussion about the new cd and cupcakes has inspired me to make some on the day it is released. not only will i be going to the nearest cd store and buying it, i am going to make some uper-gothic cupcakes and some uber-preppy happy cupcakes.

im thinking devil food cupcakes with chocolate icing and little decals that are like ghosts, spiders, tombstones w/e - halloween candy should be on sale by oct 3.
and the happy ones will be the yellow funfetti mix with like pink strawberry flavored icing and like a little hershey kiss on the top haha

hi guys. part of me thinks it would be best not to say a word about the first single, because the only way to really appreciate or 'get' the title of the song is to hear it- BUT- i just want to assure you- no rainbows or butterflies. Call me when you're sober is cool to me because the lyrics are so blunt, its impossible to misinterpret. But it isn't "typical evanescence" either. I hope you all love the record, i know i do, but just one tip about it- each song really has a life of its own. Writing when pissed off can be great. I write novels and all the "cant put it down" moments are written when i was really pissed off about something. So yay for the angryness!! (Though I rather you'd be happy all the time, but life doesnt allow it :( )

It's awesome to hear about the song Amy! I was [I]sort of[I] worried it would be like some Blink 182 but I just kept reassuring myself that it would be heavier than that and you guys knew better!... lol. I read somewhere that you said the new album would be like A Perfect Circle in the fact that it's very different and like you just said each song has it's on thing you know? That's really awesome! No offense... something I didn't really like about the last album was the fact that everything sounded similar. It wasn't... still very musical... but unless you picked apart the pieces of music it sounds very similar yet still rocking. Something that could perhaps give the album a shorter life :) Anyway it's great to hear from you, again. Post soon!

So I was wonderin' when you guys will be releasing the new song? Like how many weeks before October 3rd? Thank you for your update. We´re surely dying to listen to the new record. Well, more 4 months ahead of us...

I was thinking about this new record and also thinking about all the second records from the bands I really love and how they diverge from the first one and I'm going to low my expectations about the new Evanescence one. I'm not saying that it is going to be bad. That is not my point. I love "Fallen" from cover to cover, so I have a feeling I am going to like the next one, but the band it is completely so different now and with that, we have more styles together and more differente approaches to create the music.

All the guys from the band are totally kick ass musicians, no doubt about that, but, what I've been wondering about the kind of music they are going to create and how we are going to accept it. Of course a lot from "Fallen" has Lee's touch, but Moody is gone for good and he played a big part in Evanescence sound.

What I am trying to do is to create in my mind a spot where the next record won't sound anything like the first one, but of course Amy IS Evanescence and hence, the new record will have the bits of Amy as "Fallen". For example. I love "Imaginary" to the bones and I am expecting that at least there will be a melancholy song on the next record or the elements that makes me love the first work.

I am not trying to be pessimist here, but I was thinking how the press could react to this new record and I'd hate to see Amy filled with questions like: "Did you loose the touch"? "Do you miss Moody as a composer"? I don't wanna see that crap. I want reviews from what the record is and not from what should have been.

I have been listening to heavy metal since 1992 and Evanescence is the first band since Iron Maiden with "Fear of the Dark" that really impressed me and made me addicted to.

I love the band, I love Amy and I can't wait anymore to see this new record out. :)

Hey Amy... I'm sure the album is great, and it doesn't matter the style or if it's not a typical Evanescence Album, what it matters for me is that you guys are artists, and that's my guarantee to know that anything you do, is gonna sound beautiful.
