I have no idea on how famous HIM are in the rest of the world, but In Europe they are quite known. For all of you that havent heard them you should definitly check them out. They are from Finland just like Nightwish, and there is a lot of good music from Finland.. go check them out.

A very good friend of mine from my uni days put me onto HIM, hes finish and keeps me up to date with most of the good tunes that come out of there. They are definately worth the time it would take to download their songs but im still not convinced enough to go ahead and import their cd

well...only for a very short period of time and only in the US, never in Europe. Because some stupid US jazz band is called HIM aswell. There was a pretty rediculous scandal, because this small jazz band didn't want to give their name away, but as soon as they've realized that HIM is HUGE in Europe and also pretty rich, they "sold" their name for an enormous amount of money.

And Bam...he's just a copycat... and he's obsessed.

HIM really are superb ...they chose a name very simular to mine but left out the 2..they are a goth/love metal band that none of my friends have heard of..buy one of their albums (you WILL buy the rest )bye sweethearts

him seems to keep accidentally popping into my life. first about 20 songs by them appeared in my kazaa downloads folder (this was when i hadnt even heard of them) so my dad said that they were my type of music rather than his so i adopted the mp3s. then just yesterday my friend was telling me about a video she saw while in Spain and how she had no clue what it was except that they said sacrament a lot and the guy was hott. so i spent about 2 hours online trying to figure out who the heck this band was. my first guess was HIM but in all the pictures he looked nothing like the guy she was talking about... so when she finally downloaded the Sacrament music video 2 hours later and realized that it WAS him... well, it was pretty funny. they seem to be a lot more popular in europe than in the US though

HIM is friggin AWESOME. Defenetly one of my All time favorite bands. My friends Joel and Howard from Killswitch Engage are probably some of the hugest fans of HIM i've ever met. They flew from America all the way to England just to see them play at the Astoria. My favorite songs are Poison Girl, Gone with the Sin..and my all time fave, Join Me In Death (It's so vampireish..ahh im listening to it now) I wish my other friend would go back to Germany and get me the CDs hehe cause I love em! I am by far THE biggest H-I-M fan in Kentucky. I don't really know about the country, but I'm sure about the state. I have a heartagram tattoo on my shoulder just like the one on the Razorblade Romance cd. I plan on getting a H-I-M logo tattooed on my lower back really soon, My ex boyfriend made me a H-I-M board thats like 3 feet tall and 2 feet wide with a gold heartagram and a silver H-I-M logo. Yeah, it was featured in the movie "The Thirteenth Floor" with Jude Law(?) a few years ago.. I remember seeing the music video on TV back then, but it never occured to me it was HIM! must have been before I got into the band :)

I listened to some pre-Love Metal material today. I loved it. Hell, I love everything from that band. I have loads of HIM pics on my folder, particularly the ones where he's all in black, with the beanie, white background and is really pale. Oh my god, I saw this thread and I just HAD to reply! *LOL* I was just recently exposed to H.I.M. about a week or so ago and I haven't been able to take their Razorblade Romance CD out of my CD player! Overlooking the fact that the lead singer, Ville is hot...(which I know is extremely hard to do..) their music is absolutely awesome. It's so refreshing to see that the harder stuff is starting to get some more exposure here in the United States. H.I.M.'s lyrics go far beyond the normally shallow surface of certain artists like Christina Aguilera for example...and force you to look at the other side of the spectrum. With that said, anyone that hasn't at least listened to a few of their songs should definately give them a try. :)

I just bought their CD today because of the buzz from this thread...and I really like it :p

Holy crap! I just saw HIM live the other night in Boston! Honestly, the show was one of the BEST shows in the history of shows!!!! The sound quality was among the best I've ever heard and they played an amazing set!

I just recently ordered the "And Love Said No" CD as well as "Love Metal", although I love both, I am a big fan of "And Love Said No." It's their greatest hits from 1997-2004. If you like the song, you should definately check out the CD, I'm sure it will be one of your greatest investments. :)

I think that's normal, I love EV and I used to listen both albums for hours but now I only hear one song or two :p That's why they release new cd's, but in my opinion Ville has a very good voice and I love the rithm of their songs, specially the accustic version of "for you".

I'm finnish and I haven't heard that they do drugs... so I think you have heard wrong... cause here in Finland that kind of stuff is immediately in newspapers!!!

I've gotten into HIM really badly lately.I got a sample cd out of Rock Sound which had The Sacrament (Accoustic) on it and after I heard that I got another few songs off've the net.Then I realised that HIM had to be supported,like every band,so I went out and bought some cds.I've just joined the Australian HIM Street Team because I would do anything to help them now.Okay originally I just wanted to let all the Aussie HIM fans on here know that Rage is plaing Solitary Man tonight/tomorrow morning at around 3:56AM to be exact.

Anyway HIM are one of the best bands I've ever heard and et cet er a et cet er a ;)

Dude, don't believe everything you read or hear for that matter. It is not at all suprising anyway, believe it or not, a minority of rock bands do do drugs and do drink. Besides, shouldn't it be about the music? Who cares if they do drugs or drink or whatever? All that should matter is that they continue to make good music and put on damn good shows. If Ville is placed in hospital for a drug overdose and that could affect HIM, then worry, but since that is likey to NOT happen, don't waste your time wishing they weren't into something, which by the way, they aren't into. I'm sorry if I'm coming across as a bitch, it wasn't my intention. I just don't like it when people judge a band by what they "supposdly" do, not liking it and then saying how they love a band.

HIM don't do drugs. They might have done soft drugs in the past but they don't do them anymore. Most of the band don't even drink anymore.

I was reading the Metal Hammer magazine today where they interviewed Ville and he said the band didn't do drugs.He also said that,as *Hez* mentioned,some of them don't even drink anymore,for example Mige.Okay that was a waste a space but I thought I'd add my part, ;) Tallyho *nudge nudge wink wink Ville*

Love Metal has already been released as well. They have it at Hot Topic. They've also released ...And Love Said No at Hot Topic. Razorblade Romance is the only one you can buy at a store other than Hot Topic.

Yes Love Metal has been released in the US but only as an import.Veeerryyy soon will it be released on a record label there,like they did with Razorblade Romance.So it not officially released there yet.
And I've noticed Hot Topic does do a lot of importing so thats probablly why they have HIM's other cds.

I Love HIM! I don't have many of their cd's though because imports can cost a hell of a lot in the US, I suppose they might everywhere though. Finland is home to many good artists I hear, Nightwish, HIM, The Rasmus...that's all I know of right now, but they are good.

HIM is good, but I haven't heard much. I really like The Rasmus, (Also from Finland) and I guess people say they sound alike. Finland has quite the music scene right now with Nightwish, Rasmus, HIM, Killer, and other rock bands doing well all over Europe.

*grins and saves the tomatoes for poeple who really deserve them, but don't panic, not on this board* Well, it doesn't matter, one cannot know everything. As a recommandation I would go for the classical "Join me in Death", "Pretending", "Right here in my arms", "Solitary man" and "Wicked Game". Just a few random one. Take everything you can get, they are all good.

He said the following:

- The album will be recorded at the Paramour studio in L.A.
- Tim Palmer will be the producer
- It'll be released in September / October, 2005
- The three songs performed at the dildo party (Under The Rose, Face Of God, Have No fear) will NOT be included. Ville said he's going to skip them cause he has a new feeling of the upcoming album now
- He will only write those 13 songs that'll be recorded for the album, no more than that, and all of them within 2 months
- Ville said "I make my best work under pressure. The next album will be the fastest HIM album yet".

well.... if u have all the old stuff.... really not, cos it just bring AND LOVE SAID NO and SOLITARY MAN as new songs... but if u are a fan of them u should get it... i bought the special edition that came out with a dvd of a live concert :D (& i have the old stuff too... but as long as i love this band it doesn't matter to me buing it :rolleyes: )

Well ArachneMorgana is right. If you are a fan you'd most probably buy it since you'd be collecting everything about them :D
If you are not a fan and don't own anything from them it seems like a nice idea to buy it, in order to have some of the best songs they've ever made.
If you really wanna buy some of their older cd's, make sure you buy "Greatest Lovesong Vol.666" and "Razorblade Romance". Those two rock for me. I used to be a big fan of them. Went to every concert they ever held here in Greece untill I lost interest about 2 years ago and didn't went to the last 2 which I have to admit that I heard all bad comments. It seems like Ville just got the whole thing all wrong and should probably stop drinking and stuff like that and find his old self once again. (Btw I am not and never was a Ville fan).

I have seen HIM in Cologne last spring and I have to say that they were very good. It was pretty shocking how smashed Ville was, though. He was so drunk that he rambled crap between the songs but his voice was awesome still. I love their lyrics and the dark atmosphere they deliver and his duett with Lauri Ylönen from the Rasmus (for Apocalyptica) is one of my fave songs at the moment. My favourite song of HIM must be 'Bury me deep inside your heart' because it gives me goosebumps. After all it's just a love song but something in Ville's voice and way of singing makes it very special.

i really like HIM, and they did a uk tour a couple of months ago. their performance was amazing. they were on for nearly 2hours, and every song was perfect. couldn't fault them at all.

Yes, they are. Together with The Rasmus and other bands. It's on January 17 in an Arena in Helsinki, as far as I know. It will be broadcasted on tv about a week later, I heard.

Well this might be good for a break. Maybe they'll do something like the sideprojects they did earlier (for example the one with Linde --> "Daniel Lioneye" ) but I don't think that Ville will blow off HIM and go on solo. He could have done it long ago when they band was -uumm.. how do i put this correctly in english now? :confused: - more famous..
I mean "Love metal" didn't sell as much as the other cd's and as far as I've heard neither did "And Love Said No" and most of the fans are disappointed with Ville.. But on the other hand there were rumors that they didn't get along pretty well with Seppo this past year because Seppo spent a whole lotta time on promoting The Rasmus..

H.I.M. frontman Ville Valo will reportedly record a solo album this year that is expected to be released before the new H.I.M. CD. The solo effort will apparently be inspired by "country" music and Ville's recent work on APOCALYPTICA's "Bittersweet" video, and will include the songs "Under the Rose", "Face of God" and "Have No Fear", which were performed by Valo during a recent live appearance.

personally i'd go for razorblade romance, thats a bloody good CD! =) well worth the listen!

I personally looove "Love Metal". But I think all of their albums are good.
Also, in case anyone was wondering. H.I.M's new album will be called "Dark Light". It is scheduled to be out September 26. The first single is called "Killing Loneliness". In almost every interview someone asks what does HIM stand for. I can’t even remember our latest lie about that. When Hanson was hot, we said it means Hanson Is Murder. The name doesn’t have a particular history. His Infernal Majesty was a totally different band. I think HIM derives from some death metal joke. And it was our protest to Haile Selassie’s rastafarian religion, he used to be called His Imperial Majesty. But nowadays because of Linde’s hair, we actually might be supporting him.

His eyes are very well done! You definitely recognize him.
The thing that makes him a teensie bit look like a woman are his lips. But it's really good :)
The contrast between his "feminine lips" and his strong masculine eyes is just perfect.

i've seen the limited edition cd on amazon uk but it's more expensive and i doubt it has the goodies you're supposed to get from the official website (can't remember what they are but there's a few), but you can buy it with a uk debit card from there. so i'm tempted seeing as it's the only way i'll get the bonus tracks on cd but i can't afford it atm anyway, but maybe someone else will find the info useful.

There are two single out, one has Wings of a butterfly and poision heart and the other one has Wings of a butterfly, and love said no volume 616 and a live vampire heart...I haven't bought both *cough* honest *innocent look ;)

And Love Said No is an old song, though. And then there is a song called "Poison Girl". Man, all this confusion with song titles, lol.

i listened to gls-v666 yesterday, will listen to ds+bh soon. not really listened to them that much, but they have a few good songs imo, like on love metal.

based on those and from what i've heard of the new album, i think i'll get it :) seems like it could be one of their best albums, although i don't have RR or 'ALSN...' so i don't know about those.

i've always liked several songs by them but not enough to say they're one of my favourite bands, maybe the new album will change that.

I noticed that the last track on the new CD is called "Night Side of Eden".
