Hey guys.
I know everyone is dying to hear whats going on, and its been a little while since I've posted. There's some stuff I really shouldn't talk about right now, but I want you to know that the record is coming out beautifully. Through all of the scary and insane drama over the last 6 months, there has also been alot of good- I feel like a new person. As most of you already know, Terry had a stroke in November. A small chunk of this recording process was spent in the neurology unit at ULCA. Every time he would wake up all he could talk about was getting out of the hospital and playing guitar. He actually had us bring his polka-dot Randy Rhodes guitar to the hospital. Its funny- after being stuck on lyrics for a month on one song, I remember finally writing them at the foot of Terry's bed in intensive care. Its wild how life inspires you- again reminding me that we have no control over anything. It's been 2 months, and Terry has made miraculous progress. He is in the studio with us right now, and everything is going ahead as planned. We are certain that he will make a full recovery- he's too stubborn to settle for anything less. Meanwhile, we were (and are) going through firing our manager, and as you can see (all over the freaking internet), that hasn't been very easy for us either. BUT it always hurts to break through to the other side- to make the changes you have to make to help yourself, and I already feel so good. Weird. I feel better than I have in years. I love my album, I love my band, and I'm grateful for our lives. This album is meaning more and more to me as we finish it. Most of it was written when we came into the studio, but much more has poured out through all of this, making it that much better- that much more passionate. We will be finished with mixing and everything by March first. THAT MEANS it will be early fall when the album is actually on the shelf. We're thinking August. I hope you can understand the delay, and I promise the music will be worth it. I just can't wait to share it with everyone. Thank you all for being so patient and supportive. We love you!

That's awesome! I'm really glad to hear Terry's doing better; I know what it's like to have friends and family in the hospital, and I know it feels GREAT when they get out and you get to see feeling like themselves again. I'm sorry things haven't gone too well with the manager (the internet DOES like spreading things around, doesn't it >.>), but on the other hand I'm REALLY happy for you guys about the new album! ^___^ I'm happy for everyone, band and fans included-- you're going to make SO many people absolutely overjoyed when the album does hit the shelves. :D

Holy shit. I knew something happened to someone but daaaaaaaamn... Give Terry a hug for me next time you see him... poor dear... awwwwwwwwwww I had no idea that happened... I really, really hope he's okay, and I hope everything goes wonderful and... and... and a partridge in a pear tree?! Glad you love the album, bet we'll love it too. Um.. woah. That's crazy. I knew that *something* happened to *someone* in the band but I didn't know that it was as serious as a stroke. Good to hear that he's recovering from it though.

August, huh? Does that mean that there will be a tour in September? Maybe, say, around my birthday?? ;)

Damn... Terry had a stroke?? That's a bit of shocking news... (then again, I live in a cave, so it's no wonder I didn't know) I hope he makes a full recovery in no time. That's great news on the album, hopefully it'll be avalible for my birthday, which is convinently on August. Good luck with the album Amy, hope everything turns out great for you guys. It is interesting how inspiration strikes us. I swear I had the most insane creative moment the other day when I listened to a couple of songs that happened to come sequentially on my playlist...and I ended up designing a really neat kind of costume LOL. Talk about random. Did you have any writer's block during the process? (Oh man, I've had that sometimes and it bites in the worst places *dies*)

I'm so happy that you guys are doing great :) None of us can wait until we hear the new stuff! I personally am SO excited!

Just out of curiosity, why does it take four months or more between the end of postproduction and the actual album release? Is it media stuff or just the final touchings that need to be done? On the media subject...yeah it is pretty strange to see the news about that stuff spread so fast. :X I would hope that news about the album and stuff would spread faster...

Yeah, I think it's safe to say a lot of us didn't know what happened to Terry. I'm really glad to hear that you guys are doing well! I can't wait for the new album! Hey Amy Lynn. Thanks for the update. Terry is also in my thoughts and prayers. The good thing is that he's young and the brain has an amazing capacity to rewire itself even after something as serious as a stroke. Make sure that Terry finds out from those Bruin docs why he had it in the first place, though, OK? He'll need to do things to prevent another one. And I'm with everyone else about the new album. I know our patience will be rewarded with some awesome music.

There's some other stuff I heard on WXEG earlier this week - twice - that I won't mention on this post. But I do want to send you my REAL Valentine now instead of waiting until February 14th because of what I heard. Last September at the Epilepsy Foundation leadership conference I talked to Tony Coelho for a while about his career and how he was able to get the opportunity to write the Americans with Disabilities Act. I talked to him about some of my ideas, and he encouraged me to get involved in politics. Last October, Amy, pretty much by accident (or maybe not) I met the regional director of SPAN-Ohio, the Single Payer Action Network of Ohio. I've gone to a couple of their meetings, and know that they're a bunch of bright people with their hearts in the right place. Once we have enough petition signatures, we are going to put a proposal on the state ballot to implement comprehensive health insurance for all Ohioans. The system we're proposing won't increase overall costs, and will be a win for individuals and businesses alike, though we know commercial health insurance companies won't be too happy about it. I'm hosting my first "party" for everyone in my neighborhood to discuss the details of the proposal at my house next Sunday, and the regional director has asked me to be a spokesperson for the organization. I plan to be very active in making sure that people have good health regardless of wealth. Once the voters have passed the proposal in Ohio, we can start working on bringing comprehensive health care coverage for all people in other states.

It doesn't even matter when the album comes out. I will consider this time to be valuable if it only means that Terry makes a full or near full recovery. I know that I will be keeping him in my thoughts, and I bet everyone else here is doing the same thing.

Hmm... August... Well, kinda sucks for me, I'll be on an LDS mission by then. However, that'll be one of the first things on my list when I get back (in 2008!). Maybe I'll be able to get two new albums by then. *hint mode*

I got teary when I read that. But I'm glad to hear that he's doing so much better now, and that he will continue to recover. Stubbornness can be good for the spirit.

And I don't mind waiting for the album. Surely I'm practically jumping up and down waiting for the release; but I know it will be worth the wait. Delayed gratification = even better.

Good thing the album is starting to be ready, although it really isn't an issue for me when you release it, the important thing is that you love it and are completely satisfied with it before releasing it.

Don't worry, I actually don't mind the delay that much. Of course, I would LOVE to hear the new stuff, but Terry is more important. And there are so much other things to do. And I have something to look forward to during the summer. And maybe my next school year will start well when I have new stuff to get me through :D
And also, I see the delay in another way. People won't think about y'all now (the not-big-fans) and then, in August, you will strike with a smashing album! Awesome :D

Wow, you guys really have been through a lot in the past several months. I hope Terry's health is improving and that he'll soon be able to play onstage for all of us. Strokes are scary... my grandmother had two, but I can't imagine what it must be like for someone in their 30's to have a stroke.

And that's really kewl that the music and songs have evolved since you first went into the studio to record them. Take your time. Yeah, it's been almost three years since Fallen's release... but we can be patient, if that means that'll help the new album be even better. And an August release would mean an early bday present to myself. :D

Btw, have you guys started thinking of a possible album title? Just curious...

I didn't know Terry had a stroke. This is quite a shock! I screamed ,"WHAT?!" when I read that. I better explain to my grandma why I yelled, ha. Tell him that EvBoard says hello and that we wish him good luck. He's so lucky to have a good friend like you who will be there. There's really scary news about Terry that as I see was unknown for a lot of people (and me also) :(

I'm not mad because of the delay at all. I know it's coming, and I'm glad that you guys are spending as much time as you need on it. It's going to be amazing. The more we wait, the more we look forward to it, which means the more we'll enjoy it when we get it :)

So Terry is the one that was in the hospital. I heard somewhere that somebody was in the hospital, but I didn't know why and who. Anyway, I hope he recovers well and best of luck to him. As for the delay, it's completely okay. Good luck and I can't wait for the new material!

Well don't know about you guys but I've got the countdown to August set already:)

Amy if you're enjoying making, writing etc this new material half as much as I'm sure we're going to enjoy doing the easy part of sitting back and listening to it when it hits the decks then yeah I can imagine how much fun you guys are having.

I can imagine Terry will certainly be making his way back to health just fine.....a dry sense of humour is always the best medicine, and can you think of any drier?:D :cool:

I was very shocked to find out that Terry had a stroke and hope that he makes a full recovery. I know from personal experience just how scary a stroke is. My mum had a stroke in the past and could have died but I know it brought my family closer together and made me a stronger person. It is good to hear that Terry has a lot of support from the band during this time.

Don't worry too much about when the CD will be released Terry's health is more important and I know that when it does come out here I will be buying it and am really looking forward to hearing it.

Good luck with the album, though this is the first I've heard of an August date. As for the case... I can only hope that others see in you what we see - a kind, intelligent and trustworthy group of people.

Amy, I understand what you've said about inspiration. Though it's not the same thing, I'm just starting out on a screenwriting career, and I've been reading technical books on the subject. One of the best things you can do in a case of writer's block, is to sleep on it. You can also read other writing, spend some time on another project, or just sit back and think. It all comes down to letting your imagination recouperate and regenerate, or sometimes even adapt and morph to a higher level of understanding.

I hope I've helped in some way with these words - it's the least I can do for you guys.

I know this sounds wierd, but reading Amy's letter totally made me think of this poem that was in the movie "Coach Carter"(awesome movie)...if anyone's seen it they'll know what I'm talking about:

First time message poster here. I am so happy to hear that Terry is doing better. I actually had a uncle who died in November from a stroke, so I understand what all of you must have been going through. I hope he rests up so that he makes the full recovery. The album should be the reason he gets better. No sense imparing himself to work. :)

Sounds like Evanescence isn't living up to the meaning of their name. Not a departing member, inner management turmoil nor having a stoke will damn the flow of expression of and for music.

With all that has happened, August seems like a fair time for a release.

Geeze, I had no idea about Terry. I hope he recovers fully, and not just for the sake of me getting to see him play in concert (though that would/will be a plus).

I actually think all of thease delays make the album more meaningful. Especially to those who read up on what's up with you guys (even though I admit, I think sometimes we know TOO MUCH). We know (somewhat) what you guys had to go through to finish this album, and when it finally hits the shelves..or when we hear the first single on the radio, it will be like...VICTORY! All this crap, and you guys still pulled it off. Awesome, be proud!! I'm incredibly greatful for your music, and I feel lucky that there will be more available for me to soak up and lose myself in. Wow, that's some harsh stuff. I know you spent a lot of late nights with him and probably fell asleep more than several times in a chair with your pen and pad. *ugggggh!! taco neck* I dont really know one way or the other. But I do know that if Terry is recovering so quickly then god definately has a hand in this. This was the first I had heard of Terry's condition. I hate hospitals and doctors. The few times I have had to go visit loved ones in the hospital it was scary man. Scary for me and more than scary for the person who was staying there. I always get a cold chill up my spine and goosebumps when i step foot into them type of places. I hope your personal life will straighten out soon enough. I know that things can get really rough in life from time to time. I hope the new album is good. (Is there any doubt?) For me the best music is drawn from adversity in life. For me all those feelings have to be put in a permanent place so they can stop drivin me nuts. :) anyways I'll be Praying for Terry and the rest of the band. God bless

Blah blah blah...pretty much just repeating what has already been said. Thats great that Terry has gotten out of the hospital. I wait with abated breath for the anouncement of the release date...no mater how long I have to wait! Wow, I had no idea that Terry had a stroke :(. But its beyond awesome that he's gonna make a full recovery. My uncle recently had a stroke, but he wasn't so lucky to make a recovery...I'm glad you're having fun with the new album. I can't wait to hear it!

I am not so 1337 as to know all your names, but ever since I started hanging out with my new friend I've grown alot more knowledge and aprciation for your band. I really hope Terry will be completely back to full. Strokes are scarey things, lost my grandfather to one. I read your post alot of times now,´til I finally decided to reply,I was somehow always too scared to reply to one of your posts :rolleyes: first of all I was like :eek: as I read about the stroke that happened to Terry :( but it feels so good to hear that he´s straight on his way to recovery :) second..I am a bit sad that the album won´t be released in march,´cause that´s MY birthday month :p but that´s not the only reason,I´m just impatient..*sniff* but however I´m looking forward to August \m/ ^ ^ \m/ and yeah I´m sure it will be worth the waiting :D and third..it´s so good to hear that you´re so happy :)

I am an ex-employ of the superior court and i have been keeping up with the case, and it's not going so well. Amy i am sorry that you have to deal with some stupid ass people, but there are mony of them in this world. I really think that you are very strong lady. and so many ways foolish as well. No disrespect my lady but this busniess is ment to take more the it's ment to give back. I feel that this is only the begining of your problems. I am sure you will make it through. there are many sides to this story with your manager, but both of are hiding something. Its funny- after being stuck on lyrics for a month on one song, I remember finally writing them at the foot of Terry's bed in intensive care. Its wild how life inspires you- again reminding me that we have no control over anything.

You're right here, you never know when and where the inspiration will comes to you.
Personally I find stressfull situation the most inspiring


Meanwhile, we were (and are) going through firing our manager, and as you can see (all over the freaking internet), that hasn't been very easy for us either.

Well, FIRST OFF.. I had no clue Terry had a stroke! I'm so glad to hear he is recovering =) and that you, the band, his friends, family, and friends are all here to support him at this time. :)
And yeah, it sucks all that stuff with your manager is alll over the internet! But just know that everyone on the board, friends, family, and most of all God is with you at this time. I will pray for it all!
It is sad that the album in postponed again, but I know you guys can't help that, so I'll be looking forward to August when it comes out, I feel, that since Ben is gone, the album is going to be even better with Fallen, because now, you would have been able to write more from your soul, and what you want. And when you guys tour again - never forget to come to NZ - I missed your first concert and I don't plan to miss the next one!

Hey Amy, Wow that is rough. My daughter had a stroke when she is 8 years old and it's hard. As much as I would love to be able to hear the new stuff. I will wait patiently and continue to listen to Origin and Fallen. Terry's health is by far more important and I wish him the best of luck.

I am totally inspired. With everything that has been going on, you have shown that this band can really kick some ass! I hope that all goes well with this album. And I am glad that you all have decided to wait a couple years until the next one. That truely shows some dedication to what you love to do. Nobody I know that listens to you, gets that. Because of you-- I have been inspired in my life.... I have gone through some tough things like I've mentioned. and today was the day I finally talked about it with my therapist.. Still it is about the only place i can listen to your music in peace unless my family are out, how can they not like it? it perfection to me...if only i could compose something like your music for my GCSE ...oh well wishful thining. Take as much time as you need with the album , nobody cares how long it takes so long as we know your still producing music. i dotn know what i would do without your music somedays its about the only thing that can calm me down and stop me doing something i would regret.
