It's got a minimize mode which makes it actually smaller than winamp.
Smaller than WinAmp? My WinAmp (classic, without messing with settings) is 14 pixels in height, and as wide as I want it to be. I'm thinking that were it any smaller the letters would start to be difficult to read.
EDIT: If the one Llywelyn posted is the small version, that's too big. EDIT2: Also, I'm not saying it's a bad player, I'm just saying that it doesn't look to be good for me, that doesn't mean it's bad for anyone else.

Doh! Just hit the report button instead of quote...
Anywho, I was referring to Winamp when it's in normal mode. That's how I run it. So when I hit the minimize button on iTunes it actually makes it smaller than Winamp, the way I run it.
That's how I use Winamp, when it's not minized to my system tray.

This is my player, it's quite wide, but that's by choice (so I can see more of the song-name):

I used to play on my mom's computer alot, which is a mac, and used iTunes alot and loved the hell out of it. WinAmp just didn't do it for me and phat noise was the only other thing that ripped into mp3 format and burned cds. I couldn't stand WinAmp because it got upset one day, and hadn't been the same since, so i got rid of it. Phat noise was ok, but it would never read my cd burner that I had. So I am really glad that this is out. I just downloaded it and I am about to get rid of Phat Noise.
(for those who don't know, Phat Noise is made and maintained by Kenwood).

I love iTunes. I am so friggin happy.
One word of advice. DO NOT INSTALL PHATNOISE MUSIC PLAYER!!!! After you uninstall it, it turns all of your music files that were not mp3s or wav (mainly the files i found were once wma) into "phatman" files so that they won't play on any other player.
But iTunes kicks ass.

Hi.
What OS is everyone using?
iTunes does not run on win98 and I need a new OS because win98 is unstable (great song!) and I'm gonna get an IPOD which needs iTunes.
Any recommendations? Stability is very important!

I use Windows XP and have no problems with it at all.
It's very stable and I only have to restart once every few weeks.
I don't know if you can install a MacOS on a normal PC.
Maybe Llywelyn knows ?
If so then you could even try that as well.
+ I love this player.
It's just awsome.
I have 5.3 days worth of music so my playlist is very large.
But all I have to do is type in the band/song name and it loads up everything related to my search.
I love iTunes, and now I can put it on my dad's PC that I always use b/c it's a pain to bring my mac downstairs. That is so utterly rocking!!!1 And the Pepsi thing.....jysmtastic. (<--it's another way of saying orgasmic LOL)

OSX won't install on a Win-based machine using an x86 processor, i.e. Intel or AMD.

News.
Pepsi will be offering up to 100 million free songs starting in February. This isn't new, but its interesting and relevant to point two.
If the rumors are to be believed, McDonalds will be offering up to a billion free songs to its customers starting sometime around thanksgiving of 2004.

Honestly, iTunes is the best thing since sliced bread. In fact, it burns sliced bread to a toast. Oh, why did I have to say that...?
..........Anyway, yeah, this player is really convenient, what with all the columns and stuff to order your song list in, like artist, song name, album name, last played, most played. Then there's the smart playlists, which basically creates a playlist based on the criteria you give it (i.e. you can enter "acoustic" and "live" in it's search, so it will only list the live songs... you can be real creative with them).
It has loads of features, like re-volumizing (is that a word?) all your songs, so that one isn't ever louder than the other when you play them. You can optionally have it organise the default folder, giving each artist their own folder, with each folder containing a folder of albums, THEN the MP3 (which is conveniently re-named to just the song and track number).
Seriously, I'm gonna stop here, just get this program. If you're not satisfied within one month of using, you may lick my ass for being stupid.
To further enhance your music experience, I recommend EvilLyrics, MusicBrainz and Audioscrobbler. Google them, I can't be bothered to find links...

Curse you Windows 98se!!!!
You can run MacOS X on a PC, using the latest emulators. They even work on 98, or so I've heard. I haven't tried them out and I really don't plan on it. But if you are interested:
