How many other people went to the show last night?? I did, it was excellent!! It's the first time I'd seen Evanescence and it was prolly the best concert I've ever been to. Amy came out with Seether to sing Broken, and she looked absolutely gorgeous. For that song, she wore jeans and a red tee shirt that said "You say tomato, I say fuck you" and for the Ev set, she just wore jeans and a black tank top. The set was good, about an hour long, with one encore song. Amy admitted she was hung over, but it was best for everyone to "just sweat it out". Anywho, I'm getting my pictures developed tonite, so I should have them scanned later. I hope I got some good ones, the security guards were taking pics for me too!

I went to see them here in Vancouver, it was awsome, best conert i have ever been to by far.
Did they play a cover of zero at your concert?
They did at mine, I like it better than the original. Not to put the pumpkins down, the original is good too, just not as kick ass.

I got my pics back but I have to wait to scan them till tomorrow, when I'm done work. For now, here's a review. I don't like the opening line "Have you ever thrown a party when no one showed up?"

CRAVEN -- Have you ever thrown a party when no one showed up?

Under partly cloudy skies, but with the weekend's intense heat still in tact, Evanescence brought to a close Rock'N The Valley 2004 last night.

Unfortunately, the festival went out with a whimper instead of a bang.

Worn-out, hung-over, sun-burned, dehydrated, tired, fed up and ready to go home, many revellers had chosen to vacate the Craven Big Valley Dust Bowl by the time this highly touted quintet from Little Rock, Ark., hit the stage.

It must have been tough to go out in front of a crowd that had dwindled to roughly 3,000 for the headline act on the final night of the festival, but to its credit Evanescence did everything it could to send the crowd home happy.

(To put this in perspective, Evanescence has an audience of about 13,000 waiting at the Target Center in Minneapolis for a concert on Tuesday night.)

Led by the 20-year-old siren Amy Lee, the band walked on to the massive stage cloaked in shades of blue, orange and green, launching into "Haunted" from its multi-platinum debut album Fallen.

Lee's vocal style, her power and her phrasing are clearly the backbone to the Evanescence sound.

Although the group's dark, brooding, almost operatic goth-pop has been considered a fluke in terms of commercial radio, which has helped to transform Evanescence into a world-wide smash, Lee's singing ability is no fluke.

Dressed in jeans and a black tank top, Lee took command of the stage, swinging her jet-black hair through "Going Under" before singing over some piano and orchestral string loops on "Taking Over Me."

Sensing, perhaps, that the thin crowd that remained in the grandstand area was running out of gas, she posed the questions: How many of you have been here all weekend and are burned out? How many of you are hung over?

The crowd gasped to let out a half-hearted team cheer, as Lee then suggested that maybe the best thing to do was sweat it out.

With the low-end crushing, the twin-guitar attack razor-sharp, and Lee's voice clean and powerful, Evanescence rallied the crowd with "Everybody's Fool" and "My Last Breath."

It seemed as though the exhausted throng was even beginning to feel a momentary second wind as Lee tinkled the opening notes of the hit single "My Immortal" on a baby grand piano which had been wheeled out to centre stage moments before.

Still, the biggest cheers of the night were reserved for "Bring Me Back To Life," the group's breakthrough single and video, which was quickly followed by "Tourniquet."

The 60-minute show was nearly over in what felt like a blink of an eye.

But, by the time Lee had announced the last song of the evening (and the festival) many fans had already scurried back to the campground to pack up and head out.

After four long days, there was peace in the valley.

Unfortunately, it came a couple of hours too early.

Earlier in the day, between 1,000 and 2,000 fans showed up for the Canadian band The Trews as well as for Seether, of whom Lee is romantically connected to lead singer Shawn Morgan.

Bring me back to life. Heh.

Thanks for the article. That sucks that only 3000 people were there to see Ev. I, along with about 6000 other people, had to stand for close to 11 hours in the heat to watch Ev perform. We stuck it out. It was all worth it in the end.

Here's a link to my pics. I would have used Photobucket, but they're redoing something and aren't taking new members, so this list is going to have to suffice!

I wasn't familiar with Zero by SP, so I listened to a live version I have of Ev and I don't think they played it, but I could be wrong.

That article was good but yeah it sucks no one bothered to stay for them. It would be interesting to see them play for a small crowd again though.

Great pics though :) This one is funny it's like Amy's playing all seriously and theyre all looking the other way like some girl just showed her boob or something lol

Heh, Shaun's wearing the exact same shirt he wore at Stage 13.

Thanks for sharing the pics. It sucks that only 3,000 people were there to see Evanescence. There were alot more at Stage 13 but then again, it wasn't that hot, and it also wasn't the last day of the festival or anything. I'd imagine all the heat eventually got to most of the people that were there, and only the diehard Evanescence fans stayed. Hope you had a good time.

They played thoughtless, the Korn cover and didn't play zero :( I was hoping for a longer set. The Trews seemed to last forever. Seether was impressive but my highlite of the night was Ev. I didn't know only 3k people stayed...I didn't look behind me much, I was in the 4th row from the stage so I had fun :)
