Particularly, at Jones' Beach.

I've heard that it isn't a good place for a concert...what say all of you?

I've never been there. How far away is it from NYC (or, more specifically, Southern Connecticut)?

Do you think it will be completely assigned seating, or will there be some GA standing tickets?

Funny thing is I was just talking about this with my mom earlier today how I was praying they wouldn't go to Jones Beach. It's the ONE place I didn't want them to play in NY, and they of course have to go there lol...

The reason I say this is because it's not the best place for rock concerts. It's all seats and just keeps elevating quite high, and is outdoors...*sigh* ok I'm over it. We finally have some dates and they're coming to NY so yay!! :D

But still so much better then going into the city cause I don't have to spend $20 on a train ticket. Plus my friends would actually be allowed to come with me finally cause its not in the city. And I like Jones Beach being right on the water. I don't mind if its not general admission either, most of the concerts I go to arent and I always seem to have good luck getting really good seats.

I think I remember meeting you outside the Roseland concert while we were waiting for Ev a few hours before the show. Yeah, the train ticket was a major pain in the bum...so damn expensive. But we'll be able to drive to this one. The venue is rather nice being on the water and everything, but I don't particularly like having seats at a rock concert and having to worry about fighting to get good ones. GA is just so much more enjoyable and it makes ticket-buying a hell of a lot less stressful. Maybe some of your luck can rub off on me for good seats :p

The assigned seating thing is not a big deal. Just make sure you get something in the orchestra section and your fine. Because no one stays in their assigned seat anyway. I've been to several Aerosmith concerts at Jones Beach, and they always start as assigned seating but after a few songs everyone leaves their seat and moves up anyway. Last time I started way and the back and by the end I was right up front, and that was with the so called assigned seating lol. I actually prefer that to having to wait in line so long with general admission. Only time its bad is at some venues secrity is annoying and chases everyone back to their seat, but I've never had much of a problem that at Jones Beach.

The time will be on TM once its listed there. But I've found with other shows I usually get MUCH better tickets waiting untill the day of the show. I don't know if it will work that way with Ev though since theyve always been general admission before theres no way to tell. So I don't know which to do.

meh, that's a dilemma. I'd certainly prefer if they came to Boston or anywhere else in MA, but i have tons of relatives in NYC so maybe my dad would let me make a trip out of it. But i don't want to buy tickets for a drive that long (about 4 hours) if they're coming closer.

yea.. ive been there a couple times for concerts (i live close) .. and its huge.. the surroundings are beautiful though.. its right by the beach..and its outside..i love the fact that its outside.. as long as it doesnt rain..

Oh I am so there. I was going to make an excuse to visit the ex in-laws in Va now I can go to NY instead, grabbing my 16 year old niece for a partner and going. 3 hour drive from Norwich, CT so worth it. :D

I totally disagree there lol. Roseland Ballroom..you logged on, you bought your GA ticket, you were set. With Jones Beach, it's gonna be a race to find the best seats possible in the quickest time. Otherwise, you're screwed.

well it was hard for me the day i went to go get tickets at ticketmaster they had problems with the machine and when i went back the next day they were sold out but i got tickets the day of the show. i just meant really its a bigger place so more fans can come. :) and yeah thats it lol

I've been trying to get in contact with him for a long time now, he had offered to get me security and backstage passes to any show there, meaning I could walk right up to the stage during the show and go backstage to meet the band. I was trying to get in contact with him already to see if he'd do that for the Aero show, but now with I'll be able to get that for Ev too! I'd get to meet two of my favorite bands! Maybe I could get some extra passes for some of you too, he could get a few and I dont know if anyones going to be able to come with me yet.

I'm thinking maybe I could do some kind of contest with hard questions about the band.

Yeah, me too. Well, i'm about 4 hours from NYC but my guess is that wantagh is farther, right? Do you have any relatives around there? That's how i convinced my dad. I have a grandma, uncle, cousin, and a few friends up there, so we're gonna stay/visit with them. If you don't have any...i'm out of ideas. lol. I tried.

I think I'm the only one that is kinda dreading this Jones Beach show. I've been to this place for shows in the past many times and have always had decent orchestra seats :) The thing is though the sound is not always the greatest and if it's windy it will totally suck. Also, if ure not in the center and end up on the sides it will be cold as hell cuz you're right next to the water.

The upside about this show is no ga. I wont have to be tempted to fight anyone who doesnt belong in front of me like a few other shows. Especially people I know who werent waiting longer than I was and still somehow managed to get in front of me grrrrrrrrrrrr. As far as moving up don't count on it at Jones beach. They're pretty strict with that kinda stuff although if you wanna get kicked out then go ahead and try it :)

Im also bumbed because this show leaves little hope of catching the band afterwards or before the show because that place is huge and theres no way of knowing where theyll be. Unless some of us are lucky enough to catch Amy laying on the beach or something ha ha!

Im tempted to do philly the next day but that place is just too ghetto for me so I think I'll be skipping that road trip.

Is there still no more info on this show? I've been checking both ticketmaster and evanescence.com every day and as of this afternoon neither has posted any info on prices or anything. And there wasn't a presale, was there?

I dont think the tickets will be more than 45 bucks. If they are I will be shocked. Anyways as long as you get on ticketmaster in the morning you should be fine with seats. Also remember to keep checking as the concert gets closer if you don't get good seats right away cuz they usually open up days before the show.

Okay good cause i was going to be so mad if there is because i'm a member of ticketmaster and i get evanescence alerts (supposedly), and a member of the ev e-team. :) Still a little pissed that they haven't posted it on ticketmaster yet, three days before they supposedly go on sale, but that's okay. I wasn't really expecting any updates today since it's a holiday. I'm thinking info for the show will be posted on ticketmaster either tomorrow or Wednesday. If there's going to be a pre-sale, they usually post the info just a few days before the actual date for it, if not less. It is rather annoying that info has been posted for shows going on sale the same day as NY's, but nothing about NY. Also, evanescence.com seems to have been slacking with details for a few shows actually. Tickets will be sold through Ticketmaster. They just haven't posted the info yet. Be patient, it'll be up soon. :)

True. I have a DSL connection at home, but I'd still probably get better tickets on Friday when everyone else is in school. Does anyone know from past experience which source is more likely to be accurate?

Maybe one of the dates is for a presale, or the dates were just mixed up on one of the ends.

Thanks for the update...I checked ticketmaster.com a few times today. I guess I just missed when they added the NY date. The ticket prices aren't bad which is great, but I'm rather pissed that it's now on sale on 6/5 rather than 6/4. I took off of work on Friday for it and am working on Saturday when the tickets go on sale gggrrrrr :mad: I don't see any pre-sale news either ...hmm I suddenly feel I might be catching some sort of illness though *cough**cough*

you can always call a ticketmaster number to order tickets. that way you don't need the speedy connection. Try a number that isn;t in the city of the show (use albany, for example). It most likely won't be busy because there won't be the same rush as there would be for the number local to the concert. Hope I could help :)

I don't know exactly what the conditions of your event are, but you could try ordering with a cell phone, as strokesnstripes suggested. Try a ticketmaster number in a location such as albany which isn't in the same place as the event, as it probably won't be as busy.

Yeah, i learned that now. I'm still learning about concerts....this will only be my third real one, so i was a little awkward at the first two, not totally sure what to do. I think i got it mostly figured out now....just in time to have basically no chance at meeting the band or getting close-up pictures....lol. That's my luck.

You're in the same exact predicament that I'm in lol. I made it a point to arrange my schedule around the ticket-buying. They all know about my Ev "dedication" where I work too, but I think I'm either going to fall ill or forget to wake up on time...haven't decided yet ;)

Just want to let you guys know about the cameras... You will be searched at the gate. The guys are searched more than the ladies. Usually they'll pat down the guys, but they'll just check whatever purse or bag a lady is carrying (unless you get a female security guard, she is allowed to pat down another female). Last year I got to hit the beach a few times & security was looking mostly for cameras, but also recorders & alcohol. There is usually at least one security gaurd posted in each aisle between sections, & they'll be looking for flashes & other things. Also, there is a no alcohol policy at the beach, they don't sell it, & if a ranger catches you in the parking lot with a beer or otherwise, you're out. During the show, if they catch you with a camera, just hand it over without arguing, they will probably let you stay. (It's not as lax as Roseland, where I was told no cameras allowed, so I left it home, meanwhile everybody had one except me. But you can get one in at the beach, & I always bring a disposable. My sister holds it until we get passed security.)
Another note on disposable cameras, get a good quality one. Go for the 800 speed film. They're harder to get than a 400, about 20 bucks (should get me through the week), but you can leave the flash off & get a good pic without the attention.

It holds 14,000, but the seats are arranged well. There are large tv screens on each side of the stage & they do allow binoculars if you want to bring them. But I've been in the very last row with nothing but a cheap camera & still had a great time. I grew up on LI, lived on the water all my life, & there's nothing like a show at Jones Beach on a hot night with the breeze off the water & your best band on stage. And I have to disagree with someone who said the sound sucks. I'll agree when it's too windy the sound gets blown around a bit and that sucks, but It is one of the better sounding places to see a band, especially since they upgraded the system. An example I guess, last year Aerosmith / Kiss sounded perfect. The sound does get a bit washed if you're way to one side of the stage. But you know Ev will sound perfect. I'll tell you this, if you were at Roseland, & didn't like the sound there, this place will blow it away.

But, I'm a control freak when it comes to this stuff. I want to know that I was trying for them and that if I can't get good seats, that it's on me. So were thinking its general admission and I was like that's impossible cuz its Jones beach they dont do that and were like maybe they changed the venue and took out the seats blah blah anyways...she later calls the venue and the lady said the promoters hold back the really good seats sell what they can first and then open them up later.

So basically those who got tickets today were most likely fucked over because of this. don't know why I didn't think of this before cuz they always do this for concerts but I didn't think they would with Ev.

So those that couldn't get tickets today you're probably better off waiting til about a week or two before the show or even days and checking then. That's what Im gonna do now. Otherwise it's Philly here I come :D

My dad warned me that they might hold back tickets, but i tried anyway...woke up at 7 am and headed 40 minutes to my dad's office. We had two DSL computers refreshing every 5 seconds or so...and about 20 seconds after they went on sale, i managed orchestra: G section, NN row. I'm unbelieveably happy about that. I'm really sorry to everyone who didn't get as good seats... :( I'm sure it'll be sloped, so you'll still see really well. I'm sure they held some back because i doubt 35 rows in front of us sold out in 20 seconds, but i don't know. Anyway, i'm in around the 35th row, so i'm happy. :D Good luck to everyone who hasn't bought tickets yet.

hi everyone, sorry to intrude. i accidentally bought an extra pair of tickets this morning. if anyone tried and couldn't get them and is interested, they're really good seats. i think i got a bit over-excited with a few windows open and clicking "give these up and search again". :o i gave up tickets in 11R and then H trying to get better ones - ended up with two seats in 9L that are spare. if anyone wants them just let me know, i'd rather give them up to real fans. :)

Well, i think most of us didn't get awful seats, mine were good and Jes' aren't bad. Besides, you'd have no idea when they'd release those other tickets and could end up with the very back or something. I think buying them right away was the right choice. It'll be fun no matter what seats we have.

I already knew they were going to do that, but I really didn't think it'd be this bad...I figured the first few rows and such in the front sections, but just getting into the orchestra area, period, was tough. *sigh* Orch H is pretty decent so I'm not really complaining, but we'll keep trying for better.

$120 is deffinately more than enough for the tickets. It's amazing that EvanescencE, a huge international band is selling tickets for $37.50 a piece! You can't beat that price.

Just count the letters in the sections in front of you (A-V is 22 for A,B,C, and D) then just keep going back from there. I'm NN so it's around 37 i think if i counted right...

But i'm still not complaining. I'm bringing binos and a zoom camera if i can find one i don't mind being confiscated.

No telling. I think that's why they didn't release them. Noooobody knows. It's a mystery so that ticketmaster business people on their lunch break can gather round the people answering the phones and yell mean things into them like "Nah...why would i sell front row tickets to you!?"

Honestly, i doubt they'll ever post it or anything. You just have to keep checking really often up until the show i guess, or just go for whatever you can get now.
