Wow..... All I have to say is wow.... I Just heard the entire new KsE album (well, the demos anyways) and this album is absolutely fucking awesome. Joel just got home from the Headbangers ball tour today and I was over his house and you guys should see his new Caparison guitar they sent him while he was out on tour. It is one of the most outstanding guitars I've ever had the privilage of playing. A little bit of KsE new for you all.... there will be a suprise guest singer on one of songs from the upcoming disc, but I have to run it by Joel before I can tell everyone ..... but when you find out your jaws will drop to the floor! But yeah, anyways, New album is gonna be amazing... such a step forward for KsE.... it doesnt really sound like Alive or Just Breathing a lot... the verses are HEAVIER, the choruses are some of the Catchiest damn choruses I've ever heard and the new drummer (Justin Foley) is amazing. (he has to be... he got the slot over me and he holds a masters degree in orchestral percussion :)

Anyways, I know that they go into the studio to record in about a week so I will be in there snapping pictures to put up for you guys around that time. Peace out!

Howard Jones is an amazing vocalist both live and in the studio. Not to mention Jesse Leach's new band Seemless is fucking AWESOME as well! Check it out. I just heard a story about KsE in the studio tonight. I was talking to Joel and he was telling me about how Adam D. and Justin (the new drummer) were working on one song for like 6 or 7 hours and they were only a few punches away from getting the song complete when the hard drive crashed and they lost the entire song! sheeesh, talk about shit luck!

I'd be willing to bet it was because a lot of these metal/hardcore bands come out of the New England area (namely Boston).

New Killswitch news:

Roadrunner Records will release an expanded edition of Killswitch Engage's The End Of Heartache on March 1. The End of Heartache Special Edition will come with a second CD of rare and live tracks, the music videos for "Rose of Sharyn" and "The End Of Heartache," and expanded artwork. One song on the bonus CD is a previously unavailable track called “My Life For Yours." KSE will head out on the Taste Of Chaos tour with The Used and My Chemical Romance in February.

I hate this, I feel like they just want me to shell out more money for somthing that I wouldnt really appriciate, its rare for me to be such a big fan of a band that Im willing to buy the same tracks twice.

This is a trend that is branching out through many genres of music.

Even Ev re-released their CD.

Also Usher, Switchfoot, Three Days Grace, and Lacuna Coil to name a few have re-released albums this year.

As someone in a Daily News article predicted, that trend may backfire on record companies.

Breaking and Entering on the Billboard with Killswitch Engage:

With its first Grammy nomination and upcoming major tour, metal group Killswitch Engage is just beginning its high profile journey.

The quartet, which recently wrapped the Jagermeister Music Tour with Slayer and Mastodon, will kick off the inaugural Taste of Chaos tour in mid-February alongside the Used, My Chemical Romance, Senses Fail and Static Lullaby.

With "The End of Heartache," the title track of the band's second Roadrunner Records full-length, nomination for the best metal performance Grammy, it puts the band in the vaunted company of fellow nominees Motorhead, Hatebreed and labelmates Slipknot and Cradle Of Filth.

"It's great to be able to tell your parents that finally you've made something of this," says bassist Mike D'Antonio, who quit a lucrative job as a graphic designer to pursue his career with the band. "It really blew everyone's mind, but it's really cool to have that validity."

D'Antonio, who played with underground metal group Overcast until its split in 1998, founded Killswitch with former Aftershock drummer Adam Dutkiewitz and guitarist Joel Stroetzel. Original singer Jesse David Leach, with whom the group released its 2000 self-titled full-length debut on Ferret and 2002 Roadrunner debut, "Alive or Just Breathing," rounded out the lineup until voice problems caused his exit from the group before recording "Heartache."

D'Antonio says the confidence level of new vocalist Howard Jones is "tenfold. He's an extremely strong presence and is able to command the crowd to raise their hands and jump up and down. He's not second-guessing himself."

Billboard's Bram Teitelman agreed in a May review of the album: "The band remains true to the sound it engineered on the last album; a riff-heavy, dual guitar approach merges with Jones' alternately shrieking and crooning vocals. The melodic choruses and musicianship are what make Killswitch unique."

"The End of Heartache," which debuted in May at No. 21 of The Billboard 200, has sold 200,000 copies to date and produced the band's first charting radio single. The title track continues to climb the Mainstream Rock Tracks chart, where it is No. 32 this week.

"It's amazing," says D'Antonio of the following the group has amassed from touring alone. "Every tour has stepped up another notch and maybe that's a more credible way to get big, rather than the bands that get tons of money thrown at them [from labels] and are instantly a success whether anyone comes to their shows or not."

Roadrunner is planning a March 1 release of a special edition of "The End of Heartache" featuring seven bonus tracks and two videos.

Killswitch Engage re-entered the Billboard charts this week at #192. They debuted all the way back in May of last year.

They have sold over 219,000 copies of The End of Heartache to date. Not. Small.

HELL YEAH Killswitch Engage kick ass! I absolutely love "The End Of Heartache", which I picked up a few weeks ago. It's easily one of the best cds I have in my cd collection, and one I listen to quite often. It might just be me, but I think they sound a bit like Avenged Sevenfold, who I also like. Out of the songs on the new cd, I like "The End Of Heartache", "Rose Of Sharyn", "A Bid Farewell", and "Take This Oath". The whole cd kicks ass, though. I'll be seeing Killswitch Engage live on Thursday when they open for Slipknot, and hopefully again on March 23rd when the Taste of Chaos tour rolls through Calgary.

I went to Perth Taste Of Chaos on Saturday night, October 22nd. The only sell-out Australian TOC. I went to only see KSE, I liked The Used, but Killswitch have always been one of my absolute fave bands. My friend and I lined up early to get to the front row. We were at the barriers, right infront of Mike(bass player) I was screaming and headbanging along and Mike kept noticing that. At the end the other members went go through stuff out to the mosh, then my friend nudged me and pointed to Mike, he had his guitar pick in his hand and was waiting for me to put my hands out for it. He leant over and flicked it in my hands. They are the best band I've seen live.(aswell as Slipknot)

Awesome and very cool that you got to see them AND got a pick straight from the hands. I saw them last at Ozzfest when it rolled through Houston. Before that it'd been over a year since I'd seen them here with In Flames.

For whatever reason, I've been listening to Alive or Just Breathing like crazy lately, especially 'The Element of One'. It's a great song.

I've been listening to all of KSE's albums like crazy(but mainly Alive or just Breathing) for weeks non-stop. I go to put another CD in my stereo and I have to put KSE back in straight away. lol
I love Self Revolution and My Last Serenade alot, but I can never choose a fave song.

I just recently got the Killswitch Engage DVD called Set This World Ablaze. Unbefuckinglievable.

A 70+ minute set, all of their music videos and probably one of the most detailed histories of the New England Metal/Hardcore scene where Killswitch Engage and Shadows Fall emerged from the ashes of bands that both were linked to like Aftershock and Overcast. It features interviews from members of members past and present, members of Shadows Fall, Roadrunner's A&R team, and God Forbid.

If you like bands from this scene, you'll really like this DVD.

As of my post, I'd still been watching the From the Bedroom to the Basement part of the DVD. It was like watching a full length film. I was caught off guard by the length of it, but it was really good. And for you Anywhere But Home fans, you'll like the drunkenness in this DVD, too :p

I love watching them drunk on the DVD. I quoted a line ro my friend the other day, I love quoting weird stuff...

"Who's your daddy, and what does he do?"

"I'm getting pringles at the truck stop and you can't stop me."

"You're going under my balls dude that so gay in a mosh pit by the way."

lol, I love it.:D

Some info on new album:

Killswitch Engage Turn On The Heavy For Glass-Shattering As Daylight Dies

Metal bands seldom claim they've gone soft when they have fresh material coming down the pipe. Whatever they've been working on recently is always, without fail, the "heaviest thing" they've ever had a hand in.

And sure, New England metallers Killswitch Engage are no different — but at least they've got a sense of humor about it.

"It's the softest thing we've ever done," teased bassist Mike D'Antonio from a cell phone in England, where this weekend, the Ozzfest veterans will be taking the stages of the Reading and Leeds festivals. "They were calling us metalcore for a long time, and now we're going to have to add another word — like emo metalcore. We'll need to create yet another genre, and people will start wearing dresses after listening to this thing."

Of course, nothing could be further from the truth.

Killswitch's forthcoming album, As Daylight Dies, is going to be, according to D'Antonio, "f---ing metal in full force." But the band didn't head into the studio with any specific intentions to turn up the heavy meter and churn out an LP that'd make 2004's The End of Heartache seem like a walk through the daisies.

"There was really hardly any thought put into it at all," he recalled. "It just came out and we hadn't written in so long that everyone had a lot to contribute. It felt more like the sessions for [2002's] Alive or Just Breathing, where everyone was contributing, and everyone had a say. That is more, to me, what the Killswitch style is. But, it is the typical line that everyone gives you — that this is a heavier album — but it kind of is. It's definitely way heavier. There are still the melodic choruses here and there, and there's a lot to latch onto. But it's heavy."

As Daylight Dies is the result of more than a month and a half in the studio with Killswitch guitarist and one of metal's "it" producers, Adam Dutkiewicz (Underoath, All That Remains). Dutkiewicz will also be mixing the record, which is due November 21. D'Antonio said the disc will feature a dozen songs, including "This Is Absolution," "For You" and the title track, which kicks things off.

D'Antonio says he doesn't have any expectations for the album, but As Daylight Dies could end up propelling Killswitch into the mainstream. "We shall see," he said. "It's time to buy a house."

Fans won't find any special guests on As Daylight Dies; Heartache, which has sold more than 410,000 copies, featured an appearance by erstwhile frontman Jesse Leach, who left the band in 2002. "With that, we really just wanted to show everybody that there were no hard feelings and we still love the guy," D'Antonio explained. "On this one, we didn't want to use anybody else. We wanted it to be just us — a stripped-down Killswitch. And, that's what we did: We stuck to our guns." D'Antonio, who designs the band's album art, said several picture frames met their demise for As Daylight Dies, all in the name of Killswitch.

"There's going to be a lot of shattered glass on the cover," he said. "I bought a ton of frames, glued them to a blackboard and smashed them all over my apartment. There are still glass shards all over the rug. The cover's kind of a dark and light idea — the real dark side of life and the real light side. It's sort of a face on one side, with the other half being the Killswitch skull."

D'Antonio said the band plans to spend the rest of the year touring, and hopes to be on the road for much of '07. "We've got several places that we've never been to before coming up," he explained. "We're going to do an Alaska date for the first time ever, and we're really excited for that — we're totally going to go on a polar-bear-riding trip. We'll be heading over to Japan and then Australia and New Zealand, and on the way back we're hitting Hawaii. So life is pretty rough."

And in November, Killswitch will step out for a U.S. headlining run, but exact dates are still being hammered out for that trek.

D'Antonio also recently finished working on Reborn to Kill Again, the forthcoming album from the reunited Overcast, featuring himself and Shadows Fall frontman Brian Fair (see "Metal File: Overcast, Black Dahlia Murder, Nevermore, D.R.I. & More News That Rules"). He said the band has signed a deal, but that he can't reveal with which label yet. The Dutkiewicz-produced LP, which is due in May, "came out way better than anyone had anticipated," D'Antonio said.

"Adam just did the most amazing job with Brian's vocals, with the thick guitars," he said. "The songs just have this whole new life to them and everyone who's heard it has really, really loved it and actual Overcast fans will really appreciate some of the little intros that we do and different intricacies here and there. I think our fans are going to dig it a lot."
