The idea IS to make this the last and definitive thread about Rock in Rio. LOL! I know much has been discussed in other threads, and it's not meant to be a repetition, but rather to know if more people out there are coming; people that don't read portuguese and don't visit those other areas of the forum... despite the search option. :)

Maybe someone could create a logo, or a collage or something that only those of evboard that are coming could have and print it on t-shirts (I can try to do something, as I've done numerous Ev wallpapers, but maybe you're more equipped for it Gilwellian).
It's an idea. Is it compatible with copyright issues? Can we use Ev's images and stuff for that purpose?

Yup, a flag sounds good! It's something the band would see and that'd be great. After all... standing out of a crowd of aproximatelly 100.000 can't be easy! But we hafta manage it!!!

I was thinking also in the lines of poster... the "Snow white, we love ya!!!" idea is an indirect reference to Evboard, but doesn't show support for the whole band.

I still have classes on the 28th. But it is possible that we can arrange for a meeting between us Rock in Rio-attending-Evboarders on the 29th, yes. It'd be neat!
But I'll have to confirm that closer to the festival, as I don't want to make promises that something bigger than myself or circumstances unforseen will stop me from keeping, ok?

Lisbon is a very beautiful place! You'll easily find places to see and things to do. As a last resource... just sleeeeeeeeeeeep and charge your bateries, cause the 30th will be HECTIC!

We use codfish for everything! LOL!

As for the beach, we have some nice ones to the south of Lisbon. Costa da Caparica. There are buses that take ppl from Lisbon to those beaches, and they're very nice. They've also been disapearing over the years. Darn global heating...

Anyways, it wouldn't be a very good idea to go to the beach all day. You'd get a nice sunburn... and then, 9 more hours in front of the stage with the sun blazing in the sky... that would give ya all a nice roasty colour. LOL!

This reminds me: don't forget the sunblock. You'll need it.

I'm applying to work in the organization of Rock in Rio; so if I do work, we'll either meet at the doors and I'll be taking your tickets ;) or we'll meet on the front of the stage...

It’s sooo so close now! The day after tomorrow and we’ll all be by the Rock in Rio gates, waiting to get in... waiting to conquer the front row!!! :-)

I just won a ticket for Rock in Rio thru a promotion made by the representative of their label here in Portugal. One of four, if I got the list right. But just when I thought my bad luck had finally deserted me... it came back! From all the similar promotions going on right now for other bands, Ev’s was the only one that did not get you access to the band to sign the CD you HAD to buy in order to get the ticket. I still cried, and begged and only gawd knows what, but my hopes are down to near zero... They left me with a “I’ll see what I can do for you”. Yeah right... after downright admitting that I didn’t have a spot because the guys who were gonna do the interviews and all were planning on taking their friends’ CD’s and get them signed...

And they said there would be no meet and greet, and guess what: there will!

I have mix feeling about Sunday: extreme glee and downright frustration. So close... too close... and I had a painting/portrait to give to Amy! *cries*

Anyways, Gil and Onyrika are coming in today. Gil, I have your cellphone number and will try to send you a written message this evening, when you’re on Portuguese ground. I hope it works. We should all set a time to be by the gates on Sunday. I’ll make a post tomorrow about how people have been behaving when arriving to the festival gates. We might need to be there early, way before 2 pm.

Amanhã devo tar aos portões lá para as 10 da matina. Gil and Onyrica are getting home right about now... I came to class as promised, at 9 am; 4 miserable hours of sleep with all the adrenaline still running in my system!!!!!! WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

I can still see Amy hugging the girl that was next to me at the meet and greet; She was not so exasperated as I thought she'd be when I showed her everything that I had for her to sign. :p I was so focused on that, that I missed the photographs they took :( and I forgot to simply tell them how their music is a HUGE part of my everyday life. They've helped me thru so much... I was so lucky to have been there, I know... but it still felt hollow. So much to say and so little time to say it, and I understand how taxing it all is for them.

Will's face is the one still on my mind... it was almost... scary... in a Will-kind-of-way. LOL!

Amy was really pale. I know her skin is light, but she didn't look completely recovered yet. The concert lasted a little less than it should I think, because she was running out of voice to sing. But all the songs they played WERE AWSOME!!! Way better than the coliseum concert! Despite having been sick, Amy was her usual spirited self on stage, and so was Jonh. BTW, he is really very very nice! Gilwellian came back with a trophee... a sort of pay for the april fool's joke that Jonh played on us :)

Back to Amy, she was on stage with Seether to sing Broken *jumps of joy* and they also introduced a brand new song, for the next album I'm willing to bet. It starts with Amy on the piano; real beautiful stuff, and then it kicks as the band joins. *shivers* Great moment!

Ooh, for anyone interested, Amy was wearing that red corset of a magazine pic (the one where she looks WAY young), a large black flowing skirt, and the usual army kind of boots. Her hair is HUGE! Worn loose like that gives her a fairy kind of look. Very Prety! There will be pictures, of course, as soon as I treat the whole 100 pictures taken. LOLOLOL!

I can only say...it feels like a dream. The only tangible proof is the signatures on the CD... Treasure of treasures. A dream come true, yet...

I'll try to meet them again and again, everytime they come here. :p Selfish or not, I want to give them something in return for their music, other than simply buying their CD.

I'm sure Gilwellian will have much to add.

All in all, it was one of the best days of my life.

that was probably thoughtless. i hope it does come on the next album, or at least on a B-side of any single. sounds like you had a great time! you guys (the whole audience) were great, especially in MI when everyone was singing along with Amy. I dont think Amy was fully recovered but she still did a great job ;) nice to hear you had such a great time, Ev rules all! <3

they introduced Breathe No More as a new song back in october in the netherlands, so i guess that's going to be on their new album aswell

We were able to hear the concert live and we've seen some video from it. It looks like it was really fun!! ;)

I have the videotape, and i'm going to pass it to the computer. I've seen it over and over again. In the tv they said that EV will probably come back to Portugal at the end of the year or even before that... I hope it's true!

Just came back from Rock in Rio…

The most awesome, exciting, wonderful experience of my whole fucking Life!

First of all, thanks to the Portuguese evboarders Narya and Jaminha for their friendship and most welcome help, without them things could surely become rather different…

Our first “bite” was Seether, a lovely band with so fucking terrific songs, they really kick ass a lot… everybody was asking for “Broken, Broken, Broken…” and… Oh man… first notes, first words… and suddenly an incredible scream of thousands of voices arose over the arena, welcoming Amy singing with Shaun altogether. We’re very pleased… over all Amy saying “see you all in few minutes” … :D mwhahaha! … we were expecting 3 hours at least… :rolleyes:

Barcelona fans worked with the Portuguese in order to cover the front row so obviously we got it. Well… Narya and Gil didn’t had the chance… just the third row… WHY?

Yessssssss… we didn’t expect a chance like this. Narya told me that there was a TV program who offered to meet the band for 10 people if they can prove that all are true fans… well… my shoulder's MY IMMORTAL tattoo was rather convincing and both were one of such 10 lucky “true fans” who got the “Meet & Greet” green pass and met the band... YAYAYAY!!!

The concert was really great, all our fav songs plus the covers (I leave the comments about this to Narya and Jaminha). I am sorry to say that but… FOO FIGHTERS DIDN’T DESERVE TO BE THE HIGHLIGHT OF THE JOURNEY… simply, because they haven’t 50,000 people singing every song altogether, 50,000 people covering the whole arena even the little hills around, Amy said that was very impressed to see such image from the stage, and most leave the concert after Evanescence ended the performing. I was in one of the hills and watched the arena during the first two Foo Fighters songs and believe me, the hills were empty and the arena lost about 30% of people. EVANESCENCE was the real star of the night! I have never seen a thing like that before, believe me.

We brought a big banner (see the pics) to welcome the band, Amy gave thanks to all Portuguese people for their support and “special thanks to our fans of Barcelona”… … WOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!it’s great to hear such lovely sentence in front of 50,000 people… she promised to say that during the meeting to me, and she did!

It's been two days since it happened, and ya know what... it so feels like a dream! I know I have to remember the touch of Amy's fingers when she took the CD cover from my hand to sign it to realize: it was real!!!
And yeah, the song we thought was new, was their version of thoughtless. Beautiful! I had never heard it before!

Seeing the concert on TV yesterday definitely taught me something: a live show must be seen LIVE! The concert in vivo was SO MUCH BETTER!!! Beautiful, all of it! Amy was great; in the videotape of the concert you can see her grimace sometimes. I think she sang with a great effort. THANKS AMY!!!

It looks like it was an absolute blast: I wish I could have been there. It was great seeing the gang rock on as usual, and it's nice to see Amy doesn't do the same old stage movements again and again whilst singing ;)

I'm not a Korn fan, but I really enjoyed their Thoughtless cover as well.

It's strange but whenever they do covers it seems I like their version better than the original. With the exception of Heart shaped box I didn't know any Zero or Thoughtless before they did them live and after listening to the originals I prefer their covers :)

Evanescence had nothing to do with such nonsense... aside of someone did mention the band name through the Press. All of us are very sad, to say the truth is the bitter fact of the festival, but NOBODY might felt bad nor guilty.

The worst part goes on the parents hands... pray for them who are still alive and bearing the tragedy forever.

I don't know, but i don't think they would do it.. only if someone asks in an enterview! I hope so, because i really think this was their best show ever.
But I've heard many people in the portuguese tv talking about the concert. And all of them said this was the best concert ever in Rock in rio, and that Amy has a great voice, even if she was a little ill, and that the band rocks!

Hey, I've been waching the concert videotape again, and i've noticed that after the show a guy, probably a musical critic, he make a review of the EV concert.
He said that the concert was GREAT, he doens't like evanescence but he loved the show and he will start to listen to ev from now on. He said that Amy has given her best and everybody loved that, even if she was a little sick. He said that the Ev concert was the best in Rock in Rio until now, and he expects it to stay this way!

Yep!!! I admit, i was there only 4 Evanescence. So were my friends, so were almost EVERYBODY, 52,000 people... i don't care what the reviewers say, the concert was GREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEAT!!! It was a great show.

I heard this show go uot live over the net, and I feel this show really proved Amy is a true professional. It is clear that Amy is not well but she just continues, she rocks.

i also heard Rock in Rio over the net and i knew Amy was sick when she preformed but it really didnt show when she was singing. i have new found respect for Amy. that concert blew me away. i loved it!

The blitx review basically said that it showed that she couldn't sing so well; the old "studio is one thing, live performance is another." I could see from the concert videoptape that Amy's voice failed her a couple of times. Her throat was really sore, but I've heard her in Lisbon before and in Rock in Ring and I have to say she made a big effort this time. She grimaced a couple of times for x-sake!

She behaved like a professional that day, and she put up a GREAT show. I have to say though: if the guy that wrote that review was not there, then he had no right writing it. It sounded SO DIFFERENT live than it did on TV.

It was awsome! Her voice was not in its best, BUT, I think the energy of having 50.00 souls thrilling with what they were hearing was just mind-blowing! Amy was pleased too; Rocky kept smiling throughout the whole concert, Jonh was clearly having a blast...

All in all, that is a day that will stay in my memory for a loooooong time...

After all, from all the millions of fans, I was one of the few who met them... I still feel's Amy's touch when she reached for the CD cover *shivers*

Lisboa was not a concert only but a huge festival. Perhaps Rock Am Ring was the highlight of 2003 but after checking the last news about the 2004 event ... *cough* ... Rock in Rio is the hugest this year! Sure!

In case Ony's links don't work, if you have a program like Emule or Kazaa it is rather easy to find the concert, either in MP3 or in video files of several picture qualities.
I'm currently downloading one of 3.9 gb. A DVD with excelent quality! Don't have a DVD-R though. LOL!

Yes... a LOT of days. But it might be worth it. One of the coments said the quality was excellent! And I guess that since it is such a big file, it's best to search for it now before the ppl that are sharing it put it into a disk and it disappears from the web.

In emule there's one file that has about 700 mb and has as great quality as a dvd.
It's caled Evanescence.live.at.rock.in.rio or something like that. I know it has "." between the words, but i'm not sure of the name... anyways, ony do you have the dvd already? Do you want me to send to you?

Rock in Rio is so much alive still, it's amazing! I have the concert on CD and it's nearly all I listen to these days... Can't get tired of hearing her thanks Lisbon and the Barcelona fans. "Thank you guys, you rock". ;)
