I'm moving, and I came across my work from a Drawing Class in 1997. This was the only drawing class I've ever taken in my life, and I went back into my shell afterwards. But I have three pieces that I believe are worthy of a Miles D arteest thread.
My first attempt at a self portrait:

A final self-portrait:

Striped cloth:

I used charcoal on Strathmore. Images taken via webcam (Me holding it up in my room long enough to get a shot).
Constructive criticism is appreciated, and let me know if you would like to see more. Thanks, y'all.

Yes. More, please?
The striped cloth is an amazing visual to my eyes.

Thanks, Craig. This means a lot to me, and I will look into picking this back up... as a hobby.
Some history: I was discouraged from the grades I got back, and having to compare my work to the other students that were in the class with me. So, it was difficult to look at my work with any sort of rational respect at the time. I never took a drawing class before at all, and it was a lot like learning a new language, managing the control of my hand, etc. And, this was a very, very dark time (many many things happening in my life when I drew these) and seeing these in the closet after all these years brought back a lot of memories & emotions.
But looking back now... these are works I am proud of.
Language. That's exactly what it is. I use that term with my students all the time to describe what observational drawing really is.
It takes time, effort, questioning and discovery...like everything else.
The fact that you already understand this aspect of drawing says a lot.

Hey! Tonal Miles is hot. ;)
You seriously have some talent to do all that in your first class. It would have been nice to have kept going with it, but...why not now? Yeah!

OK, I'll admit it's been a long day and my eyes are kinda tired, but I had to blink and look twice, because I coulda swore you said "striped GOTH"!
Actually, I like the towel one best. Draped cloth is a real challenge to draw well.
Kudos to you for having the guts to post your stuff!
