I wasn't sure where to put this, cause people had mentioned her before in other threads <one for Miss Lee, and others speaking of her touring with John Butler Trio>. But, she is an Australian, and well, a bloody talented one to say the least - so here I am.

ANYWAY, I was just wondering who else is waiting patiently for 'The Sound Of White' to be released later this year?
I can't wait, her website <http://www.missyhiggins.com/> said it is to be released around September, so i've still got a couple of months to wait...bugger.

so, any other fans?

I'm not really a fan but on a Rage show that I taped it had one of her songs on it and it was so freaking catchy.I admit I don't really remember it now but she is very talented.

I think this thread should have been in the Indie/Small Bands part but I guess it'll be delt with by the mods.

I think she's awesome, but I haven't had the chance to get my hands on many of her songs just yet, but I plan on changing that.

I downloaded, "All For Believing" a few months ago and fell inlove with it straight away.

They play 'Scar' all the time on Channel V and Max, so I've become quite aquainted with her. :D She's not bad. I mean, I wouldn't classify her as a favourite of mine or anything, but she's okay.

I saw a couple of her songs live a few weeks ago when she was supporting The John Butler Trio. She was great. She has a really good stage presence and an awesome voice. I love her song Scar and the film clip is cute.

I've only really heard 'Greed For Your Love' which I love. She played a different song on The Panel last week, apparently it was used for The OC commercials.

Anyways, I like what I've heard so far.

Missy is the artist I'm raving about the most at the moment. All for Believing (http://www.abc.net.au/triplej/unearthed/melbourne/missy_believing.ram) is one of the most beautiful and moving songs I've ever heard and she won triple j's unearthed with it when she was 16! Greed for your Love was the first song I heard by her and it's one of my favs. She's gonna be very successful I think.

jade did you download All for Believing after I raved to you about it?

;) Yep! I think you sent it to me. I didn't listen to it straight away, but I haven't stopped listening to it since. I didn't realise she was only 16 when she won unearthed with that song.

Very impressive.

I bought "The Missy Higgins" EP today as well as the "Scar" EP. Both awesome. I can't wait for her to have her own tour, she is about to start supporting Pete Murray... Don't think I could see him again...

Just to go back to my fav Missy Higgins topic... Did you hear the version of All Believing they have on Missy's revamped site? It doesn't sound as natural and as genuine as the first - kinda like she's trying too hard. I'm glad the link still works for the old version :)

yeah, I'm already on the mailing list, and, if I can, I will certainly get that cd.

The new site looks good, and 'All For Believing' is a great song - even if, as one person thought, people think it isn't as good as before. Personally, still love it.

Only 12 days till 'The Sound of White' is released here...woohoo can't wait.

I'm yet to hear the other, I'll prob be buying her album sometime this week, I've been downloading a bunch of albums lately and im sick of ripping off these great artists, so... buy Missy's album I shall!

anyways, i forgot what i was going to say... i hate when that happens.

EDIT 5:01pm

Oh... that's it, now I remember. I think The Special Two would make a good single, hopefully the next one she releases after Ten Days

yay, go buy it, it is an investment really....

btw I'm really happy that Ten Days was released as a single, it is a great song...and i agree with what some of you guys are saying - The Special Two would be a great single after this one, though i'd be happy with any song from The Sound Of White.

oh and while I'm here, a congratulations is in order I believe - to Missy Higgins for winning an Aria last Sunday night, it was well deserved.

I went saw Missy in Brisbane and loved it so much I went and saw her in Sydney too. In Brisbane she said her and her band were having a great time and were going to do an extended set. She played for over 2 hours in Brisbane. Tickets were cheap 2, only around $20 at both gigs.

She's such an amazing singer/song writer I can't rave enough and her band are all incredibly muscians. The bass and guitar solos had the audience cheering (in Brisbane) but in Sydney they were asleep or on drugs or somethin n didn't :) At Sydney she didn't play as many songs but played 2 newies. One of em was Before Winter (??) and she has the ability to just say this is a new song, hope you like it, and it'll be every bit as brilliant as any other song of hers you know.

I get to see her at Homebake on December 4th. I can't wait. I read about her once in Chik magazine and thought 'pfft. she can't be that good.' but when I hear Scar, I fell in love. She is freakin brilliant!

The night I went to the Roxy, Missy said the previous night the house lights were on and she could see people falling asleep during the concert! So she was happier to see dimmer lights on the Saturday night :)

People in Para know not to mess with you ;)

OK, so atm I'm totally bloody digging Missy Higgins... I just found out she's performing at the Belvoir Amphitheatre here in Perth with the Finn Brothers on Sunday, and it isn't +18... it's $70 for the ticket... so that would mean probably not getting my Ev DVD right away!

Emma, I'd wait for a concert where she's headlining. Her tickets are around $25 and you'll get way more Missy for your buck

I can't believe I only just found this thread. *slaps self*. I heard "All for Believeing" on a cd I think Rolling Stone Magazine put out a while ago called Noise, and I loved it. I also discovered Little Birdy on that cd too. I really really want to see her live but she only ever plays at over18's venues.grrr. I'm trying to ruffle up some cash to go buy her 1st EP before it disappears. The Sound of White is awesome-it has a permanent place in my diskman. lol Nightwish-Nightminds is cool. I haven't had time to check through this entire thread but I think it was last months edition of Rolling Stones had a 3 page interview with her, with some really good pictures too. I squealed when I learn't about her supporting the Finn Brothers but that was only after they'd finished the tour.

Man i am so sick of hearing Missy Higgins, she is played all the time and i can't stand that song scar. Yes it was good when it came out but now i can't stand it. I am so sick of hearing it. But it was funny, Rove's imitation of it. Scary actually. He looked so much like her. haha... i love Rove

Missys' performance of "The Special Two" at the tsunami concert = Best.Performance.Ever.

I have to say that "The Sound Of White" is definately worth buying. Theres only two songs I skip regularly and thats "Scar" (was never a fan of this) and "Casualty" (for some reason it reminds me of "The Cat Empire"......eeeeeeew).

Standout tracks = All For Believing, Any Day Now, The River (lyrics), The special two and the last track which has completely escaped all cognitive lassooing (ahahaha I can't spell).

Can't wait for a tour to get to Melborne. And as a side note, I curse you Sydneysiders for "WaveAid". I wanna go.

At Sydney she didn't play as many songs but played 2 newies. One of em was Before Winter (??) I read in an article that the song was called Blind (or blue) Winter but don't hold me to that. All my friends really dislike MH’s music which is a real bummer. One of my favourites is “They Weren’t There”, I hope it never becomes a single because its so beautiful and special, and overplayage would sort of ruin it. I rekon the next single could be “The Special Two” because a lot of people seem to connect with that song at live shows and stuff, and she does sometimes close her set with it.

I'm so bummed that the tickets to A Day on the Green in SA with Missy Higgins and Pete Murray sold out. My sister and I were so looking forward to going.
