however, i noticed quite a few interesting threads that were closed because the thread-starter "didnt do research." the person didnt run a search on topics and got his thread closed for it. my question is, are evboard moderators honestly trying to keep the boards clean and peaceful, or are they on power trips? i just find it highly impractical to shut down a thread becuz the starter didnt "run a search." thats just nonsense, dont u think?
i mean yeah, its needed in other sub forums of the board, like in concert discussion, etc.. but is it really necessary in the debate forums? i mean, not every question, no matter how similar in nature, is proposed the same way. they could all spark different aspects of a simlar topic.

The moderators here do a surprisingly good job given how many smacktards there are here. There are two moderators who - I won't name names - who I think do sometimes, on occasion um... 'overreact' a bit, there are two who have a tendency to go just a tiny bit too far at times, I think, though 99.99% of the time they're all fine.

When I was new here I too thought it was stupid how often threads get locked and whatever, but once you've been here awhile you realise that the reason these threads get locked is because there's a new one exactly the same as the last posted every five minutes.

I personally just quit an admin-ing job I had on another forum because I frankly no longer have the time nor patience to deal with hundreds of stupid idiots everyday who can't even follow a simple rule like look around first before posting a new question. It's a bitch of a job doing admin/mod work on a large forum, trust me I know, I've seen what an admin's e-mail inbox looks like and it's not pretty. Admins and mods don't get paid, it takes up their free time, they have to deal with stupid muppets day in and day out, and Lord knows how they've managed to keep at it for so long. In the end I managed two and a half years of admin-ing, though God knows I was fed up with it by day two. And these lot have been at it for what is it, a year and a half now? Something like that. Imagine 15 fuckwits per day on average times by 547 days - that's 8205 fuckwits they've had to deal with, probably. Cut them some slack.

My new policy on threads like this:

1) Harass the retard until they start a suicide thread in Whine & Cheese.
2) Go there.
3) Continue harassment.
4) Wait.

It's not our fault members don't know how search, read directions, or deal with sarcasm. You're on our turf, so you need to go by our rules- not fuck up and blame it on us for correcting you. So what if we use sarcasm? We're allowed to have fun with what we do. If you want us to be boring, droning idiots, you'll be much better off at a different forum. This board definitely has a sarcastic flare. If you aren't good at dealing with sarcasm, you'll not get far in life before you realize you've missed a lot due to taking things much too personally.
