I like all of the songs from their last album, "The End Of All Things To Come" and some from their old album.

spiritual kabbalistic philosophical politcal death metal. i knew it could be done.

I'm not much of a metalhead anymore. I used to listen to a bunch of death metal bands. Now the only death metal I listen to is In Flames. Dunno why, my taste in music suddenly softened. I still listen to thrash and stuff like Metallica, just no screaming vocals. I like Mudvayne's second album. Their music became a lot less heavy.

Mudvayne I'm not all that familiar with, but I do love Marylin Manson, Black Sabbath, Kittie, Anthrax, Cradle Of Filth, Lacuna Coil (although some consider them "goth rock"), Megadeath, Bloodflowers, Nightwish, Tapping the Vein, and yeah...I heard some one mention "In Flames"...who I LOVE! And yes...Metallica.. "Enter Sandman" was the second song I leanerd to play on guitar!
...."Blackbird" by Paul McCartney was the first...and "Dust In The Wind" by Kansas was the third which I might get my ass kicked for mentioning in this thread. :(

IMO, Metallica's music's been getting worse and worse since the Black Album, yet they're still as popular as ever. The Unforgiven 2 and King Nothing were the only good tracks on Load and Reload, and there's not a single song that I really like on St. Anger (I haven't heard them all though).

Lacuna Coil (awesome show)
Shadows Fall (their coming here sometime this summer)

About P.O.D. I say they're not metal, and they never were. I've never heard anyone call them metal before, and I've hung out at the official site for years.

You just commited the biggest sin ever.
They don't want to be referred to as a Christian band. They are merely a band with Christian members.
And what about them isn't great?
They have one of the best guitarists of all time: Jason Truby. Ex-Living Sacrifice member. Former bandmate of our beloved Rocky Gray.
Ghâshûl

I also like metal. But my favorites genres are grindcore and noisecore like Anal Cunt, Yacopsae, Mukeka Di Rato, Napalm Death, Extreme Noise Terror, Los Crudos (well they are more like crust), Spazz, 3 Way Cum, etc...
I don't think POD it's metal at all, they don't have the basic metal riffs or beats either the philosophy.
Also I saw someone mentioned Misfits as metal... they do hardcore/punk.
And finally metal is a metastyle, none of the bands you mentioned are just metal, they have a particular sound of it like death, black, heavy, glam, industrial, etc...

More about P.O.D.
In 2002, they were nominated for a Grammy for Best Metal Performance, for their song "Portrait". It does sound metal to me.
However, P.O.D. is not just metal. They are also rap, hardcore, funk, alternative and reggae.

I agree with you but there is no other place on the board for other bands but here... OOOHHH sh*t I'm listening "the end of all things to come" right now it KICKS AS*!!!
Personally, I can get with most kinds of music except most classical and older "twangy" country but my favorites are from Mudvayne, Slipknot and of course Evanescence.
then you wouldn't like dev. he's pretty twangy.

Im a big fan of both MudVayne and Slipknot, but lately I've been listening to a lot of music by "A Dozen Furies" and "MANNTIS", I listen to a butt load of different music though. I try not to limit myself to one certain genre, Im friend of almost every genre.

I've always found metal either incredibility antiseptic or played by kdis in bad need of Prozac. The only exceptions I've ever really liked are the bands who have blended the genre with other things. Quicksand, Into Another and Helmet are two great examples. They fused metal with Fugazi-ish post-hardcore, and that added a bit of reggae and dub to the mix as well. It was a great contrast to the distilled aggro-emo of bands like Texas Is the Reason and Farside and the DC guitar rock that also fell into the post-hardcore genre.

I'm sorry to burst your bubble, but Mudvayne isn't metal- nu metal perhaps, but then again it's a generic genre that is quite annoying in their attempts to create actual music.

I've been getting into Mudvayne lately. I don't really have a favorite song yet, because I haven't heard all the songs, but I enjoy listening to them...I really like their sound. It's like heavy, but not too heavy.

You wanna think about something funny? Just a few years ago, I didn't like Mudvayne. I can't even put my finger on what exactly it was I didn't like, I just didn't like them...
Now it's a totally different story. I love their music, how raw and powerful it is.
That said, I guess they just managed to grow on me. :)
