Reinstall the drivers for the sound card off the CD that came with the computer or the sound card.

There are no drivers for speakers.

She needs to find the drivers for her sound card.

What brand of computer is it?

If it's a big name, go to thier website and you can find the drivers there.

If it's a custom system, look inside the case and see if the sound card is built into your motherboard (ie: you plug the speakers into the motherboard (big big chip) inside your case).

Or see if they plug into a card (something that is smaller, and slides into the motherboard through a white slot).

If you're computer is made by hp (or whoever) log onto to their website, find the page called install new drivers, find the drivers you need, then install. :)

Maybe the problem is more simple..

Go to the Control Panel and open the Sound option. Make sure the volume is all the way up and that mute isn't on etc.

Also, if the speakers are plugged into your motherboard (as is most common) then you shouldn't need to worry about drivers.

Luna: erm... :D

By the way, download the soundcard drivers, that's the only way to get your sound back.

Er.. please explain what "wiped out" means? You not giving us the full detail of what happened before.

Does any sound come out, ie. when the computer boots up you get the annoying Windows greeting, or only nothing when you play movies and MP3? Have you tried playing Midi files or playing a CD?

Considering that he said when he plays audio or video he gets no sound, I would assume not.

By wipe out he means that he wiped his hard disk.

He now no longer has the sound card drivers needed to make his sound card function with windows.

Then i assume this guy has spoken to you because you seem to know the situation of PC better than i do. :)

If you say its the drivers then shouldn't Windows asked for a set when it found the soundcard? Has he checked all physical wirings? Is the device manager showing any question marks? Just going through the list.
