This thread is a gallery for my fanart.
Thru the pages you'll find portrais of Amy as well as other female singers such as Sharon den Adel (Whithin Temptation), Tarja (Nightwish), Christina Scabia (Lacuna Coil); and of other anonymous people - comissions and drawings made for friends.
I know much has been lost since the 8.5 hearthquake hit the board, but all can be rebuilt in time. I'll try to keep the more substancial drawings on the first page of this thread so they're easily accessible. So scroll all the way down will ya? I'll be posting new drawings as I make them, which hopefully will allow me to update this thread regularly.
I wanted also to express my gratitude to all of those who have taken the time to regularly visit the thread and keep the smile on my face with their comments, as well as Orgo, Spiderfall, Fragile, Invisible_one for the tips. I learned so much from all of you. :)
And also, I should thank yet another person. Miss Amy Lee for being my first source of inspiration after 3 years of total abstinence. Thanks to her and Evanescence's music I rediscovered the pleasure of drawing, and realized that "hey, wadayaknow, the portraits are not so bad." :p I'm not exagerating when I say it brought some light into my life, and that I direly needed it. So, thank you.
Critics, so long as they are constructive, are highly appreciated.
And, if any of you guys needs to email for any reason - k_nerah@yahoo.com

Amy_sitting_small.jpg - EDIT: Oct13: New portrait of Amy. I decided to go for a full body portrait for a change
Amy_Gazing.jpg -EDIT: OCT 14: I'm rather happy about this one. The original picture is very soulful.
Amy-angel.jpg - EDIT: NOV 14 - Amy and Angels are turning into a sort of cliché on the board, but I decided to give it a go anyway. It looks nice!
Amy_curtains.jpg - As promised in my last post here, a new work! I think ya'll recognize this pic. Enjoy!
Amy in EMA My newest. I don't like it much. Never did from the start and the shadding didn't fix it either.[/COLOR]

Amy lying on the couch. New one. This one is framed and hanging in my room.

Amy by the window: EDIT Dez 22: My first attempt at colour. I am not satisfied with the result... hence, I've removed it from the first post, cause it's getting a bit cluttered. It's in page 9, I think.
Amy EMA's 2: added Dez 27: I added this one on the 11th page already as a step by step picture. The original photograph is from the EMA's too.
http://www.evboard.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=9209
EDIT: Jan2/3/4: Added a TON of drawings. They're old ones, that have nothing to do with Ev. The main themes are commic characters, DBZ, Anime and a few miscellaneous. They're in pages 13 (http://www.evboard.com/showthread.php?t=18203&page=13&pp=10) and 14 (http://www.evboard.com/showthread.php?t=18203&page=14&pp=10), for those who want to check it out.
Amy in night dressEDIT: Jan12 - Just cause Katya asked to (and thank you so much for asking Katya! I loved working on this one! :) ) I did a new one, full body... all dressed up AMY! I think the dress is the true "star" of this drawing.
Anyone else has suggestions? Feel free to submit any fav picture. I'm game for new people too!

Amy sitting - black skirt EDIT: Jan 17. I waited a LONG time to find the balls to try this picture. Gosh... this skirt was a nightmare!!! It took me more time to make than any of the other drawings in this thread. It's probably the last of Amy I'll do for a while. I think I did ok, considering, and plus... drawing Amy so many times it's beginning to freak me out a bit. I don't want to appear obsessive.
http://www.evboard.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=9427
Amy Broken Not my best, proportion-wise, but the shadding was a bit more daring than usual. Feathers and Eyes are my fav details of this one.

I specially like the second work .. I think it shows Amy in a contemplative mood we never see in RL. . the one that gives us her great lyrics and talented music, even if it does appear to be a snap from a vid. The context of the work is what matters, and that is the context I see in it.
Very nice

LOL!
Yeah, the second work is also a part of a drawing I made that I used for my OLD sig. ;) I'll post it here in a while.
I have a sum of 4 portraits of Amy, and a fifth is awaiting completion. The one I posted here is the very first I made.
Thanks for your comments!
*~~*~~*~~*
Since I was forced to take my 2nd work of Amy (the one that got the comments writen above on the replies) from the 1st post, I'm attaching it here.
EDIT Jan 13: At the great Gilmod's request... and cause I really do not want to scare ppl off, I've removed my first attempt at a portrait of Amy. But no, it's not ending as paper to lit up the fireplace. I like to keep in mind the progress I've made over the past few months.
EDIT: June 18th --> Restoring to the first page all of the Women that Rock drawings, in the order by which they were made. I have a new one of Sharon den Adel that will be added shortly.
http://www.evboard.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=9785&d=1119170979 Sharon - This drawing is at the official WT fanclub and the band's site. I was told Sharon got to see it :)
http://www.evboard.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=9787&d=1119171011 Tarja! This one is also at the Nightwish Fanart Gallery.
http://www.evboard.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=9788&d=1119171026 Christine Scabia. Very expressive original picture. :)

I figured I'd post something different this time. Old drawing, from back in the teens, with naught to do with Ev (obviously. LOL)
EDIT Aug 31st: I figured I'd add something else in this department too. This time, instead of Marvel comics, I focused on Manga/Anime. Anyone who watched Neon Genesis Evangelion will recognise the character.
EDIT Sept 18: I'm adding another Marvel related drawing. This goes back to when I was 16. It was never finished.
The writings in my Sig means 'may the god(dess) of the moon guard you until our next meeting'

Your best bet would be to edit the first post. Most people just look at the first post, and then hit reply rather than going through the thread.
But anyway. I think your art is amazing. Go you.

Hey, I really love the second and fourth drawings. They're really well-done.
*Suggestion? Ok, when you do a drawing, try to integrate some of your lines. (that's like when there's a light area you don't draw the line cos your mind will do it for you once the drawing is finished.) It gives the drawings, especially portraits, a soft touch. Try it, it'll just complement your drawing...*
I've been tryin to get my stuf onto the site, I did one of My Immortal which came out not too bad...
But, really, they are well-done. Congrats.

Hi!
Hmm... you mean to leave the "skelleton" behind... meaning the lines that you draw initially for reference but that are thin enough to erase with your finger? *scratches head*

Yeah, ok: when you begin drawing, you do the entire face, rite? But, when you shade, look at the parts where there is a lota lite. Then what you do is erase that entire line, so that you can only see where the darker parts start again. So the line goes really soft, liter, and then completely gone. (only a couple of cm, otherwise it gets confusing) then it becomes visible again, liter and then back to how it was in the beginin. Try it, i'l try to post som of my work that i'v done integration with.
You actually got me onto the idea of doin that same pic. (i hav it on color) I did, it cam out really good - so everybody tells me... I'll see if i can post it.

I'm glad you went for that pic of Amy. It's just gorgeous! I got a poster from a magazine that had it, and two days later I had done the portrait. It's my fav. I don't think I'll do another one like that in a while.
Thanks so much for the advice! I'll try to put it to practise... once I fully understand what you mean. I'm so blond sometimes... :p

Ok, sure. I put one of my drawings on my thread - "some of my stuff". (invisible-one) I'll put the other one on later sometime.
But, the drawing on there? Ok, I did integration at her face (at the top), her nose (which is one of the most difficult parts of the face to draw completely, so it's a good choice for this technique), her chin (only slightely), her hand with wraps around it (really blurry on the pic, so i just used integration which made it better...) and a bit on her dress. Then of course the frame i drew and her hair would also go as integration. (dark.) But, beware, until you'v "mastered" integration, dont really do it with dark colors, it can easily fail.
I think you should get it when you enlarge the pic. You'll see, im sure.
Glad to help you out. Post your next work so we can see, ok?

Will do!
And THANKS! I checked your work and a lighbulb just lit over my head! I see what you mean now (for instance, the top line of her face, the contrast of the hair and how the limits of it are drawn to built the impression that there's a line there of her face's shape). Your drawing is really beautiful! It's a shame you had to take a pic instead of scanning it, it would favour the shadings and all so much more.
The "work in proggress" one I have here came off slightly distorted. Amy's face look fatter than it actually is in the original... But I'll scan it as post it along with the new I have to make (full bod this time).
Thanks all for the tips
And thanks Katya for the glossary! It rules!

Pleasure. I used integration a bit more on that one than i originally thought i did. But, i use it so often now that i dont even really notice it any more... weird.
Thanks. I hoped you'd like it. Took me quite a while to do. And, the scaning-thing, it's WAY too big in any case. I think it's about A2 size? 60x100cm i think...? so yeah, in real life it looks a lot better...
Her face looks fat? happens sometimes. Finish shading first before you make any changes, see how it looks then. Your mind gets confused sometimes. Just try finishing first...
Glad i could help.

Pleasure. Thanks for the compliment... The scanning wouldn't hav worked even if i tried unfortunately, the drawing is like A2 size (about 60x100cm i think) but i know it would've worked better that way...i'll post my next one as soon as i can.
Don't worry too much about her face looking too fat now. First finish shading before you make any changes, it usually comes out right. (your mind has a way of configuring a drawing) if it still looks a bit weird, just go with your gut on changing it, don't look at the pic as much.
Glad to have helped,

Hm, well I have some drawings I'd like to share. Some are related to Evanescence (namelly Amy - as she was the first human being I drew - at least for the moment for I plan on drawing the guys too!) others are just old cartoonish drawings I did for time-spending sake.
Here's hoping I'll get some critics on my work.
Note that it's just a hobbie, I've never had classes on how to draw (unless school and kintergarten count. LOL), techniques, material to use, etc. I hope I get some valuable tips from you guys out there who are into arts.
I hope you like them. If ya don't, then point me towards my mistakes and I'll be more than happy to try and "rectify" them in the future.
Wishful thinking: internet art classes. LOLOL! :p
I'll be posting more as I make them.
Thanks to all!

EDIT Aug 26Ok, it's Aug 26 and I added my second portrait. I hope ya all enjoy it.
EDIT Aug 28: Leaving for the weekend, so I figured I'd leave another. It is the third one I did. 4th and 5th to follow soon, then I hope to do some work on the guys. Could anyone indicate me towards good pics of John and Rocky please? I looked in the forum but found none of good quality. Thanks!
EDIT Aug 31: I'll be leaving for a short vacation in England. I hope to have time to finish the one that I started a week ago, and maybe do a new one. I'm editing this thread adding the last complete portrait of Amy that I did, plus a no-Ev drawing in page 2.
Piece and luv! ;)
[b]EDIT: Sep 17: School started, and I'm up to my neck in work. There is a drawing waiting to be finished for over a month now. All I'm missing it's the hair. But with the new pics on the Amy pic thread, I have two pics chosen to draw. But, if anyone knows of a really nice picture worth drawing, I'm tottaly open to suggestions.
Cheers!I really like the fourth one:D

Can't wait to see your new drawings. My favorite so far is your signature. The border is just awesome.
LOL!
Yeah, there is something about that sig... :)
I did not draw the border though. The sig is a collage made with a picture program. Something between MS paint and Photoshop... closer to MS Paint :p
I am totally unable to create things from scratch. I probably could if I had the practise, but my mind works better in "copying" from a picture or a live model. I spent years without picking up a pencil. I did not even know I could draw ppl and actually recognise who it is. LOL!
Amy has been a wonderful model! She has so many "faces" and sides to her, it's amazing! Her face just cries to be drawn.
Thank you all for the comments! Suggestions are welcomed!

Hm, well I have some drawings I'd like to share. Some are related to Evanescence others are just old cartoonish drawings I did for time-spending sake.
I chose Amy as the main model cause... well, you have all the expressions of the world in her face and soulfull eyes. You can't help but be drawn to her figure and carisma. This is my attempt to capture it in pencil, because I think there is something flattering in a hand-made protrait such as in a b&w photo that is just lost in the colour ones. (that and... erm, couldn't paint in colour. Too much of a chicken, always afraid to screw up what's already done... and plus, I have no technique whatsoever!)~
There are more drawings by me in the second page (no-Ev related, but that I think are cool to share), as well as wallpapers.
I'll be posting more as I make them, which hopefully will allow me to update this thread regularly.
*~~*~~*~~*~~*
EDIT: Oct 13: Seems like a nice day to update this thread. I'm removing the "work in progress" and attaching my new portrait of Amy. I decided to go for a full bod after falling in love with the original picture. It's just gorgeous, and I hope I made it justice.
Comments... PLEASE!!! :p
EDIT: OCT 14: Check the last page for the one I JUST finished. I think that if I ever meet teh Ames again, I'll present it to her! :) Opinions welcome!
EDIT: OCT 15 - I'm moving the first picture from the first post and posting it further down. I've been told Amy looks too old in it... I agree. So, down to the bottom with it! It will be replaced by my newest, fresh from the bar it was drawn on yesterday morning.
There is also a Wallpaper on the 4th page. Enjoy
Wow,your stuff is great,I could feel the deep emotions in your paintings :)!

Thanks all!!!
Spiderfal, no I don't paint. I think I would need technique to paint. I guess I can hadle a pencil cause... well, we all do when writing anyway, but with a brush... whoa, that's a whole different matter!
I have been advised to take some workshops to learn more and work on it, and I probably will in the future.
I think the last two I made are the best too. I guess that I'm getting used to Amy's features... :)
Anywho, there is a new one I have lined up. It will probably be as big as an A2 sheet, so it will take me some time to make it. But maybe a week or two and I'll post something new here.

LOL! :D
No, I think Ev's music just woke me up inside. ;) I was going under in my life, totally drawn in solitude, when the Immaginary in my head was brought back to life. And I guess now the will to draw that has haunted me, is finally arising. :p Don't ask... I don't know where that came from.
I've been gaining some practise drawing Amy from pictures. It's been a great experience. But yeah, it's all "natural".
Thanks for dropping by! :)

All the images are as attachments, on the very first post I made (I keep editing it). So, they're right here on the board. I think you're the first that cannot see them. :(
Maybe I should start posting a link to a webshots gallery too in this page... Though I quit doing that cause most of the times it did work properly.
What about in the fanart thread? I've linked the images to my posts there. At least the latest are posted in the last... hmm, perhaps 10 pages of it. And in the mean time, you can check out all the other artists too! ;)

Hi!
That is doable, but ya know, it isn't Amy (dunno if ya know).
Some people wondered if it was her in that pic or not. We reached the conclusion on this board, that it wasn't. :)
It's very prety though. I have another of the Ames lined up. After that one, I'll give the angel one a go, oki?

There are more drawings by me in the second page (not-Ev related, but that I think are cool to share), as well as wallpapers.
I'll be posting more as I make them, which hopefully will allow me to update this thread regularly.

Amy-angel.jpg - EDIT: NOV 14 - ARGH! These weekly tests are killing me! I haven't had any time to draw. This weekend though, I took the time that I was wasting waiting for a friend to pick me up to work on a very old idea. :) Amy and Angels are turning into a sort of cliché on the board, but I decided to give it a go anyway.
Amy_curtains.jpg - As promised in my last post here, a new work! I think ya'll recognize this pic. It was done during the time in which I should have been studying Agrometereology and scanned during an Agrometereology class. Goes to say just how much I "love" that class... nevermind that I have a f*cking test next Sat.

You really should practice more, because you draw magnificent… You really have a talent. Shall I ask you, what is your trade? If you have it, of course… You really should be an artist. I’m serious. And how can you draw that good if you don’t practice at all??? Those details, it’s so meticulous, those lines, shadows… Beautiful:) Jump on my tread, see some new drawings and my recent “short” post… And don’t be lazy LOL;)

I dunno. There are plenty of tallented people out there, you know. What I do, is for mere entertainment. That's why I only do it once in a very long while. But like you... it tends to evolve into an addiction. Lately the pressure from school has led me to want to draw more and more. I want to skip classes to work. Just the other day I felt SO much like drawing something, I was feeling jumpy and "suffocating". I had to buy an A2 sheet, cut it in two, and print an image from college and draw!!!
I was alone... and when a friend of mine found me I nearly wanted to tell her to GO AWAY!!! cause I needed to draw in peace! LOL...
The impulse is so great.....
The latest I'm doing I don't like. I look at it and HATE it... but ooh well, will try to salvage it before it's done. But sometimes, you just know, that when it starts off on the wrong foot... it just can't be fixed. There is always something missing...
Anywho, been to your thread, was completely and utterly uber-dazzled (ah, just murdered the english language) and now, I shall go and maybe try to finish the one I've started yesterday.
So, expect an update soon.

Hi Orgo!
Yes, I know... I cheated on the hands cause well... I didn't feel like making them any better. LOL! I'm lazy. :p But I'll try to fix them, as well as the strap of her dress that the hand is holding. I found it very hard to work with this paper cause the texture was different from the one I'm used to.
I guess practise does help a bit. :) Amy's the first... and almost only human being I've drawn in my life. It's all very recent. But I'm having bundles of fun!
Ah, I joined Devianart, but I have NO IDEA how to post there in the ev fanart forum.
Oki, off to check out the other evboard threads.

I really, really wish I could draw. I can't seem to get away from one 'look' if I draw from my mind, and FORGET drawing Amy lol just FORGET IT. I don't know how you can capture her so well; mine end up looking so abysmal that it's almost funny.
Over break (i.e. when I don't have 9823451567 things to do), I'm going to really try and sit down with a picture and draw it. Any tips, Narya?
Narya
12-18-2004, 10:27 AM
Tips... hmmm...
Find a good pic of Amy, with a good difinition! It's really important so you can see the details. After a while, you get used to Amy's features and you can almost guess what goes "in there" even without looking.
Print it. I hate doing stuff from the computer... though fragile, for instance, does it that way.
Do a sketch, spend a lot of time in that. It's probably the most important part. Don't delete the first lines unless it's so scattered that you just have to. The rubber can be used to draw too, erase only what you are sure you won't use... start off with lighter shading and keep going darker and with more contrast as you go along adding details.
Just go detail by detail, and keep compairing proportions. I do it with a ruller sometimes just to make sure. With a person... you'd be amazed at how the tiniest difference in proportions can make the hugest difference in the final result.
Do the hair last so you don't smudge the portrait and kill all the work you had shadding... and do what you don't like so much first, cause it will get you looking forward to get to the best part. I start off with the eyes cause it's like the portrait becomes alive then and there and it gives me strenght to go on. The shading in the eyes though, is normally the last touch.
LOL... maybe I should do like orgo some day and post a step by step drawing. :p
It's not much different from what he does though. It's working in layers. :)

WOW.......... my first offer for my work :) Gee... I'm so flattered! :D :D :D
I don't know if I'll ever sell. That one of teh Ames in the sofa is framed in my room. I have fallen in love with the original pic for ages, I sought restlessly for a high-res one and I found it thanks to another evboarder in a portuguese website... it took me a week to print it, and do the sketch and then... at last... the shadding! The silken cloth that Amy is covered in took _forever_ to make! It was by far the most dificult part of the piece!
But I'm happy about it, I really am. :)
There is another of the sofa shot that I like, but I don't know if I'll ever make it. There are others in line first... and I really should slow down. Sas was nice not to call it an obsession, but I think the folks in my home are starting to believe it is. LOL!
Fragile, you're newest is really good! Gawd! What you do with her hair and eyes is outstanding!!!
And Mindy is right, we all have our styles. I think yours is very unique. Hold on to it!
Bysee!
Ok, so this one has the improved qualities of the last one yet this time you did a 1000% better job with the anatomy specificaly the hands.
Bravo!
Both you and Fragile truly have a professional grasp of Value. It's amazing how that subject just escapes so many artists especially college art students.
Nothing to crit on this one but I will offer a hint. The stuff in the background like the paneling (or is that a window?) and the floor, give that a very limited and rather light set of values. On a scale of 0 to 10 where 0 = the whiteness of the paper (or conplete presence of light) and 10 = the complete absence of light or total darkness, the values for the background on this drawing should have been between 2-4. Right now they are between 7-9 and it's fighting for attention with the focal point which is Amy's face and torso. You may be saying "but orgo that's what the picture looked like". To which I'll say, yes that's true but photographs are not always good art. When you use photorefs you have to take creative liberties to fix conflicting values and such ;). Smartly you used a vast contrast in the focal point area. Also I would've added some shadow behind Amy where the back of the couch is going behind her.
Again, you just keep getting better and better with each piece. Excellent work!!!!
I can't wait to see the next one!
P.S. To answer your question in my thread, I use a Graphire2 Wacom tablet. It's the cheapest model you can get. I hope after the next freelance job I finish to buy the newer model Intous2 that has the buttons onthe left side. either that or I might bite the bullet and get a 6 X 8 Platinum tablet :D.

This I'm framming to put in my bedroom, cause the original pic is so gorgeous! Love the whole thing: layout, light... it's just gorgeous!
I would so be printing this out and framing it in my room if my printer weren't broken, lol.
Narya
12-19-2004, 05:43 AM
Thanks guys!
And Orgo... I know what you mean about the sofa. I had the pillow done first and it was MUCH darker. But then I moved to the arms of the sofa and they bacame lighter and the back of the sofa as well, so I went and changed the pillow instead of adding more detail and pencil to the rest. It would probably enhance the contrast, hence making Amy the main focus...
The glass VS sofa is probably the one thing that needs greater fixing (can barely tell the difference, except because of the texture). But again, it happened because of my eternal laziness. I was robbing study time in doing that portrait, so I started on the shadding and only let go to go to lunch. Doing it in a row was an excuse not to study (which I badly needed that weekend but didn't feel like doing...) The back of the sofa was the last thing I did, and it was done way fast... I mean fast... probably didn't take a minute. :p
Also, it was my first time experimenting with so many textures on the same picture: the wall was rough, the sofa had a very particular texture too; the cloth over Amy's legs was silken, and her shirt, cotton and stripped... plus there was the glass, the metal, her hair and skin...
It was a challenge...
I'll probably pick it up again and change the contrast between the different objects as to make Amy the only focus and the rest, just accessories that complement her figure.
Thanks so much for the tip! I need some ear-pulling to improve the drawings some times.
Thanks again for the comments and for dropping by!

Thanks Sweet_lil_lie. :D
And Invisible-one, instead of trying to post the picture thru its link (if it's on your computer, it won't work) try attaching it to your post! Go advanced and then click "manage attachments". If the picture is less than 100 kb in size, it can be posted that way.
Also, if you have it on your own thread, be sure to drop the link. I'll check it out! (I have seen this image done by someone else before in the fanart thread).
If you come back, please errase two of the posts. Not that I mind seeing this thread grow... LOL! I do some souble posting on it but always come back to erase them later.
Hasta!

Hi guys!
I did a crazy thing, gained some balls, and decided to risk an entire drawing and apply some colour. It was quite the challenge, and I'm not sure if I like it much. I'm used to applying colour on horses, for instance... NOT, on ppl.
Again, Amy was the first.
It was specially hard I think, because I cannot control the colouring pencils so much as I do graphite. The lines are thicker, and it represents a problem specially for things like the eyes and the lips, that require great precision.
All in all, I did not think it was that bad for a first try. I'm posting 4 pics here, illustrating the whole process from sketch 1 to 2; the beggining of colouring and then the final result. LOL... I did not take any in-between pics cause I got carried away and hurried to finish it.
This was a photo that a friend of mine asked me to do.
Katya... I'm doing yours next. And I have not forgotten about you Heartagram1, even though I have not seen you around much.
Hasta!

I am in TOTAL awe of your work. I love the Amy at the EMA's pic, and the pic of Ames on the couch. I wish I had your talent. :(
This was the last Amy pic I did, which was about in about March this year:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v69/echidna86/3.jpg
Nothing compared to yours. You have influenced me to start drawing again, I wanna draw like you! hehe
Can I ask, what shades of pencils do you generally use? I am BAD for never going for the darker shades, I always use my light ones >_< i have gotta get out of that habit. I goes all the way back to when I was younger and discovered the lighter shade pencils could rub out easier, and haven't moved away from them since.

Hi Dollface!
You saying you felt like picking up your pencils again is the best compliment anyone has given me! :) Thank you so much!
I checked your work and... wtf are you talking about? You did an amazing job! I love the lines and the shading! It's really well done!!! Do you have your own thread in the Your Stuff forum? You should, ya know...
As for the kind of pencils I use. Well, for the first ones, specially the melancholy, I used only an HB graphite. You know those pens that you can recharge with thin graphite sticks (LOL... have no idea what they're called in english...). They come in 0.3, 0.5, 0.7 and 0.9 in size. I used a 0.7. Later I bought a 0.5 for the details.
For the hair, cause I need it to go darker, usually I go for a 2B to 6B, depending on how big the portrait is and how dark I want it to be. If it's to be black, then 6B for the shading on the hair, and then a really sharp 2B (or that pen-pencil, cause it allows for really thin lines all the time), for the texture.
I never go for the darker shades either. :p I'l really lazy on that one. I think you go much darker than I do and I really loved your portrait!
If you have more, you should post them! If they are posted, then leave the link. I'd love to see more of your work!

Mechanical pencils :D
And that's all I use. For the little drawing that I do, for math, for everything. lol. I prefer 0.5 but I like 0.7 as well. :)

Thank you! Now I know!
And yes, mechanical pencils are my favourit to work too. For instance, this new one, done this afternoon (the coloured one was done this morning, but what can I say, I was feeling inspired), was made almost entirely with a 0.5 one.
It's a true step by step. I took more pictures than I included in the collage. This time, I documented the whole thing.
All in all, I believe graphite is really my thing... not colour.
Katya, I know I said yours would be next, but I remembered I had this one sitting for a long time, and I love her expression. It's so... Amy. LOL! :D
I'll try to keep my promise until the end of the year.

Hi Filipe, Sara!
Thanks for dropping by! You guys \m/ and so do your comments! :)
Dollface, you can start a thread with only one or two drawings and then add as you receive replies/comments. I started mine with one, then kept adding them, editing the first post in the page or posting the links to the pictures.
You will also find that if you open a thread now, with little work to show... you'll feel the pressure to update it regularly so you'll keep on drawing, more and more! LOL!
I'm hopping to finally do someone other than Amy, but before that, I have a few requests that need answering.
Thanks again for dropping by!
Oh, and

Hey, gurlie, you rawkie;) You making it amazing with graphite;) As for the beginning with colour pencils, it is really great, so keep it on and you'll be rawking-queen-of-colour-pencils!!!! Yeah, that is true, that they are complicated. Sometimes those pencils are so creepy, they are only for under 3 years old kids, so they are not for us :o For my caricatures colour pencils fits great, i love working with them, but ONLY on caricatures. Once i craped my drawing with those damn colours.... I won't do that again.
Come to my thread, to see something new... :D

Me likes the drawings, I'd like to see more more more, you must have drawn Amy so many times now that you could draw her without reference!
They look highly accurate, photorealistic even. I'm ok at drawing, or was. I keep on looking at your sketching and wondering if I should do a pencil drawing for a change instead of colouring in on canvas.
What pencil hardness and softnesses do you use out of interest?

Hi Spiderfall!
You honor me with your comments... you really do! I find you're an outstanding artist. Looking at what you're able to do with oil paint makes me... greeeeeeeeeen...
Goes to say, I'd love to have the talent to paint like that!!!
And yeah, please give pencil drawing a go! I'm sure you'd come out with a drawing way close to a real b&w photo! It's the only thing I know "how to do" cause a) it allows for mistakes. So if anything goes wrong, I can use the rubber to my advantage (and I use it many times for shading). b) it doesn't take much technique. What I do is basic instinct.
I usually draw with what I have with me at the moment. I've only began using "special" pencils in my 5th drawing, I think. Heck, I only discovered there were pencils softer than B and harder than HB a very little time ago!) Until then I used plain HB from a mechanical pencil. I LOVE working with those. I find I can manipulate them much better than a wood pencil. But wood pencils is what I use for the hair, the darker shading or spots, etc. I have now an HB (two mechanical pencils. 0.7 and 0.5), then a 2,3 and 6 B. I seldom use the 6B... most of the time I get a good result out of a 2 or 3 B. Heck... if you ask, I can't tell you the difference in using either of them. For me, it's nearly all in the pressure applied. *shrugs*
ooh, and one very important note: I cannot create. That ability is dead in me. Sure, I can think of things do do BUT... no, despite drawing Ames now for so many times (actually I'm giving Arwen a go now), I could never... ever... draw her from my mind. Evah........... LOL! I see the pic, but I can never zoom in on the details properly. My mind wasn't trained...
Thanks for dropping by!
You too Coggy99. A funny thing about that drawing, is that... I think it looks better scanned. I look and look at it, and always... there is something about it that ain't right. I nearly did not post it. hehe

Thanks for the info, I used to draw all the time, and I have a few mechanical pencils lurking about, I guess they are good since you don't have to sharpen them and they maintain their size.I used to think I couldn't make stuff up until I tried, computers make it easier - that fairy painting I did was a composite of some alpine photos I searched for in google images, and the girl is my girlfriend who I superimposed into the picture, I assembled it in photoshop and gave it a blue colour cast. I shon a light in the orientation of the moon when I took her picture to create a bit of realism and hey presto. the light of the moon probably isn't that strong though, but whatever. I knew what I wanted to achieve before hand, and the photo refs made it more like what I imagined. Usually when i imagine stuff it doesn't come out quite as I pictured.

Yes, not needing to sharpen the mechanical pencils is precisely why I love them so much! But because they have such a thin line, it takes a bit of practise to smoothen the shadows or use them to fill large light surfaces. I love them though.
As for composing: I have done what you mentioned here. I used to do wallpapers ALL the time. But I wish I could just put in paper what sometimes comes to my mind, instead of searching for stuff out there on the internet and composing everything in the computer.
As with you, what I imagine never comes right on paper. *shrugs* Still, that fairy painting is amazing. It's my favourit from your bunch, followed by your third of Amy. :)

Yes, I have to admit, GT was the less interesting of the DB series. It sort of fel like the sequell that was made only cause... well, the prequel was a great hit!
The beginning of DB, when Goku was still a kid is a classic! It's so darn funny too! DBZ was... fight fight fight. But it brought Picollo and Vegeta, so I'm not complaining. Besides, who in the world doesn't like Cell?!
Evangelion is... Evangelion... It's prety hard to surpass that anime. It is simply brilliant! The characters, the story... how it just has that ability to twist your thoughts and make you doubt even yourself. Friggin' brilliant! Beats the hell out of The Matrix in that department! ;)

Just scroll down. There is also another of trunks there, and one of Storm from X-men (which I think are posted in this thread already). They are pictures of the drawings, so, not so flattering as the scans. But those horses are actual paintings decorating my corridors.
Ok, so I'll be gone until Sat/Sun. C-ya!

Hi all!
Thanks for dropping by!
luiscarl0s, there are plenty of programs you can use. There is Photosuitte, Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, every windows Paint (very hard to get good results though). There are a lot of programs out there than you can download from the web.
I will update this thread probably on Monday with another drawing of Amy.
Bye!

Luis,
I use photosuitte... but I advise you to go for photoshop. If you learn how to work with that one, you can do wonders with the wallpapers.
As for your drawing, it has to be less than 100Kb in size to be posted here as attachment, OR, hosted in another website, like webshots and other image hosting servers.
And wizzy, thanks!

 WOW! You have some serious talent! Those pictures of Amy look almost exactly like the original!!! I'm jealous! :p lol. I think I can draw pretty good I guess, and I like to draw, but I absolutely cannot draw people with all the features and everything! Keep drawing, you are a true "art-ist". That skill will definately get you somewhere! :)
okay, now can somebody please teach my how to draw like narya?
i would really appreciate that...

I think you are my favourite Evanescence artist to date!

I would gladly do so myself, Allmighty Sas, but alas we probably live an ocean apart...... ;) Thanks for dropping by!
EDIT: no wait, we don't... it's still pretty far though. LOL!
TheDreamer... you're only 13, right? Give it 10 more years, and you don't know what you'll be able to do by then! ;)
Check ou Fragile's stuff too. She's an amazing talent for someone so young! I think she does a better job than me at expressions.
Broken_Solitude, I just noticed your comment. You must have posted as I was writing. Thank you for the kind words... You guys humble me with your sympathy! Really.
Leaving the link for Arwen's that I dropped at the Fanart thread:

*falls over* It's official. Narya owns my drawing soul. I was quite inspired by your work, and I decided to try my hand at drawing a person for the first time. It sucks compared to yours but then again...what the hell doesn't lmao. I posted it in my thread if you have the time to give suggestions. I'd love to hear from you since j00 ahh the resident Amy drawer of the world. *bows down* I can't wait for your next port.

Hi there Narya!! :)
Arwen's draw is really cool (I love LOTR)...but the ones on 14th page, and you only had 12/13 years old, those ones are awesome!! I'd showed your draws to some friends and they were like 'frozen' :p
Narya you rock!! :D

Hi Brittany and Sara!
Thank you thank you thank you so much! You guys have no idea how much your high spirits help me to carry on drawing. :)
I have Katya's almost ready. I did not go to college today (my exam was not in my main college... but in another one. LOL... sucks having classes in two differente institutions) so I did not scan it.
In any case, stay tuned, cause there is a new one of Amy coming up any time now. It'll probably look funny though, cause her face is only like... 1 by 1 inch. It's a full bod, full dress portrait, so I'm gonna have to struggle with the detail. Quite the challenge: thank you Katya! ;)
C-ya guys!

It was never finished.
wow I just noticed this. Being a big fan of anime I love that Asuka picture! <3 she is such a stong willed character, and I seem to feel that from your drawing! ^_^

Hi guys and galls!
Sas... almighty just goes well with your name. I like the way it sounds... I live in Portugal.
Cat, I sure hope I don't blow it in my next drawing. In fact, yesterday... I wanted to work on a large version of the picture I'm using to make Amy's face for Katya (yes, I'm trying to do one picture for the body and other for the face)... but I was so pissed at the way the exam went, that I erased it all in a fit of anger... Ah well.
I might go to college tomorrow or the day after, so Katya, you're waiting days are close to over. Sorry it took me!
Bruno HELLOOOOOOOO!!! Inda bem que apareceste. And now to quote Jaminha I LOVE YOUR SIG I LOVE YOUR SIG!!! :D

LOL @ the custom tittle. It's kind of knightly, isn't it? :p
I haven't been to the Netherlands. Closest thing to it might have been the North of france... or maybe England or Scotland, though it's an island, it is as far to the north as I've been.
Anywho, I'm just dropping by to say I'm in college, just scanned Katya's drawing. I was right, the face came out funny cause it was so small, but I love the dress! I'll have to collage both pieces of it at home, but for now, I'm gonna try and leave a teaser.
Hope it was worth the wait!

OMG... now I have no f*cking clue what to do with those! HA! I have to get me a subscription to this board cause that's the only way that fortune is gonna get spent!
Thanks so much Katya. It was really a pleasure to do this. I loved doing the dress, and lazy me would never have done it if you had not asked! I should Rep ya too! ;)
Big Hugz ONY!!! Rumours are that they are going to do a Rock in Rio Lisbon every 2 years... Lets hops Ev come again! I know that in the next tour I plan on seeing them live more than once! I might go to Spain... with a banner: drove 800 miles just to see ya! ;)
