I need all your help and input on designing a new style. We need to know what it is you want in the theme. Just a color change, an entirely new look? If so give us some examples of what appeals to you all. Keep in mind this will be an additional theme, the current style will remain inplace and will be the default look of the site.

I personally dont want the style to be changed. but if you change it, please dont do it too bright like white or something (it hurts our eyes) and please leave the Evboard logo. its TEH Evboard Logo! :rofl:

IAW alot of other ppl that don't really want the style to change. Change is good to a point, but I think alot of vets around here want something to stay constant, and this style is simple and nostalgic

i´d prefer darker layouts. they don´t have to be depressing ;) but for me, lively colors and glittering wouldn´t fit to evboard... perhaps a "night-layout" or someting blurry?! a "winter-layout"?!

I can't really give that good of a suggestion since my creative side is kinda dead but I'd like to see more color. The gray on top of gray is kind of blah. It's too boring to me.

You could do like a color themed board... what I mean is like, instead of choosing a bunch of colors, you choose one in particular and everything else can just be different shades of that color.

Needless to say, I think straying from pictures of the band would be a good idea. A simplistic theme with darker colors is easier on the eyes. Perhaps black background with grey text and a small EvBoard logo at the top would be the best way to go. Maybe use an accent color for the links.

I like blues, but possibly a little lighter than the current scheme, maybe some greens mixed in... like ocean colors. Green is said to be the most restful color to the eye, and blue is said to slow one's metabolism, which produces a calming effect.

Well, it can be something else band-related, maybe some mystic/shadowy design, like the art they put on the cd's.

i would say pink... but too much is WAY too hard on the eyes... but a deep purple or red would look really nice...i think the background should be a solid color though....not like a myspace layout, with graffics and everything

I think a metallic blue would be pretty cool. No red though. Evthreads was like that and it made my eyes bleed.

I agree with witch's post - they have some nice ideas there. I too wouldn't like anything too bright and as much as I like purple, that seems to be Ev.it's theme. I think blue woul'd proabably be the best choice, something wintry and magical maybe... a bit like Lithium?

And a small request which probably sounds extrememly trivial, the boxes at the left-hand side that contain our usernames, avatars and details? Would it be possible to have them so that they are the same width as eachother? They are currently stretched for those with bigger avvies and PS, Mod, Admin and WC titles and it looks a bit messy...

I like the idea of pale colors as long as they are a dull tone and easy on the eyes. Maybe a seafoam green or a bluish purple?

I vote for a little darker theme, it's much, much better on the eyes. That's all i really care about. Easy on the eyes and easy to read, and not very fancy/flashy colors.

Are there any generators where we can custom layouts for the forum??? :confused:

I'm going to shoot our vb styler an email likely tomorrow and give him a cliff notes version of this thread and see what he's got laying around that he can install as an alternative theme to the default skin. Will keep you all posted.

My favourite one shown was the first one witch posted in message #10. The one with the lake and the mountains around it. So cool! :cool:

Update on the styleset gang....its been approved but it will take the guys over at forumfactory a few weeks to get around to designing it. So, you all may continue to use this thread to post idea's or examples of what you would like to see in an additional styleset.

Would it be possible to make a lighter style set? The two that are up for selection are both very dark. And it's kind of hard for me to see. Can you make something lighter like white or a light grey color?

New skins would be a great idea. I prefer dark colors over light, I think Evboard is more of a black/grey kinda forum, rather than a bright red/yellow/orange or whatever forum.
Personally, I love the style of Evboard. Often I get sick of a forum's layout, because the colors contrast with one another, words are hard to read etc, but Evboard doesn't have those problems. It's perfect the way it is.:)

changing your name colors on the who's online page wouldn't be possible without rewriting a lot of code. Right now who's online is set up to pull users colors from their primary usergroup. There isn't a way for you to customize those colors per person

Yes, I have talked to one of the moderaters, and they have
pretty much said, it would be confusing to the new comers,
to know who the mods are.
It was just a thought anyway!!
