Hmmm....I suppose I should start a new topic about this? Well, I was looking through magazines as usual and found an article in the magazine "AP". Here's what it said. :)
"The record explores loss and possible discovery of self," says Trent Reznor about the follow-up to 1999's The Fragile, "along with alternate layers of reality and perception set inside a nightmare you can't seem to wake up from; with lots of feedback." Reznor has enlisted Atticus Ross, Jerome Dillon, Leo Herrera, mix engineer Rich Costey and Rick Rubin to help mold bleedthrough, which will feature new songs such as "The Line Begins To Blur," "Everyday Is Exactly The Same" and "My Dead Friend." This time out, Reznor is introducing high-tech to low-life. "Computers, among other things, are ruining music these days," he says. "I hate the Pro Tooled sound of perfection and everything being 'fixed.' This record is most definitely 'un-fixed.'" And when it comes to touring behind the release, T. Rez is planning on reinventing the will. "It won't be the last tour over again. That person isn't here anymore."
There have been rumors that it will be released in the spring of 2004. Wheee! I hope so! This makes me so happy. :D
EDIT: Dammit. It cut off the "04" part in the title....Hahaha. Oh well...

I can't wait for the new NIN and TOOLS albums... those are my two fav bands of all time... I'm just hopin that Bleedthrough is better than The Fragile.. I dunno, The Fragile was an awesome album. I would have maybe preferred if they put all the "real" tracks on one CD and all the instrumentals on the other, but that's just me. Many of my favorite NIN songs are from The Fragile (The Fragile, Even Deeper, Somewhat Damaged, The Great Below, The Wretched). It took a long while for a lot of those songs to grow on me, though.

I really can't compare pretty hate machine to the fragile, they are two totally different listening experiences. Great in their own ways. You can be sure the new album will be a beast in its own right.
It took me quite a few listens to get into the Fragile fully too, but that to me is always the sign of somewhat challenging and great.

The funny thing is, Reznor has been saying he's going to release an album for a year or two now. I really hope he means it this time...
Yaaaaaay. And Tapeworm should be coming "soon" too, and Tool is recording again, and Otep is finalizing their album, and VAST just released a new one... this year ROCKS.
Tool is not recording right now. APC (and PLC) has not even finished touring yet, and when they're done with the fall tour they're doing now, they're doing another full-fledged spring tour. However, sometime after APC/PLC is done touring, that is finished, Tool is intending on going back to the studio.
Tapeworm has been together for 6 years on and off, I'll be (pleasantly) suprised if they release ANYTHING. Its just really hard for them to find the time to record. I mean, if you have 3 or 4+ busy busy musicians trying to make an album together, it will take QUITE sometime, especially when at least two of the members of the collaboration are in multiple bands.
Just a sidenote, Tapeworm is only a collaboration, not a band, although they are intending on releasing an album.
And you forgot Fiona Apple (mega ) is finishing up her album, which I think is due out sometime in 2004.

i am just so happy that they are releasing something. even if it's not going to happen any time soon, i am happy to hear they are working.
i know this is going to sound silly, but when my friend Jak died, nine inch nails was like THE soundtrack to the entire thing. i like to think of the recent block of inactivity from NIN was their mourning period to his loss. hearing what trent said, "The record explores loss and possible discovery of self along with alternate layers of reality and perception set inside a nightmare you can't seem to wake up from; with lots of feedback," really made me think of Jak. it's like they are writing about losing him. i mean, i haven't heard anything from it, so i could be really wrong, but even if it's not anything like i expect it to be, just hearing what trent says it's about really moves me.

Elusive Trent Reznor Speaks About New NIN Disc
May 10, 2004
It's been five years since Nine Inch Nails released The Fragile, and finally Trent Reznor has revealed some details about the upcoming Bleed Through, which is due later this year. In an online Q&A session with fans, Reznor said, "I'm approaching this record from a totally different mindset and strategy than The Fragile. Every record I've done has reflected where I've been at as a person when it was done, for better or worse. What is coming out of my head now seems to [come] from a very different place than the last record."
Reznor is working with legendary producer Rick Rubin to help him bring out his best ideas, and Bleed Through may sound a bit more organic with its combination of real drumming and vintage drum machines.
"Most of the synthesis has been done with a rather elaborate and ever-growing modular rig and recorded live," said Reznor. "Editing and correcting is avoided, if possible, [and] whole takes are encouraged as opposed to looping."
Things are indeed getting interesting. I listened to the Fragile for the first time not too long ago. I loved it. I wanna hear what they have next.

New NIN Album Due In Early '05, But First Some Reissues
by Alyssa Rashbaum
The wait for Nine Inch Nails' follow-up to 1999's The Fragile will be over early next year, NIN mastermind Trent Reznor assured fans on the group's Web site Tuesday.
Reznor reported that he's considering a group of 20 tracks for Bleedthrough, many of which he wrote while "envisioning powerful live drumming." For that, Reznor enlisted the help of Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl, who played on 15 of the tracks. Calling his collaboration with the former Nirvana drummer "one of the most inspiring and exciting experiences I've had in the studio," Reznor wrote that Grohl helped the tracks "come alive in a 'better-than-I'd-even-hoped-for' type way."
Although Reznor had earlier said he would be working with veteran producer Rick Rubin on the new LP (see "Trent Reznor Rewrites NIN Rulebook For 'Brutal' New Disc"), on Tuesday he revealed that he's decided to produce the album himself and play most of the music himself.
"Well," he wrote, "I feel very inspired right now, and I want this record to be what's inside my head, for better or for worse." He did, however, dub Rubin "a mentor, source of inspiration and guiding force throughout the process."
Reznor said he plans an extensive worldwide tour coinciding with the album's release early next year, and in the meantime NIN will reissue the 1997 home video "Closure" on DVD in the fall as well as a two-disc deluxe edition of 1994's The Downward Spiral, remastered and remixed in 5.1 surround sound.

Nine Inch Nails have apparently set "With Teeth" as the title of their new album, tentatively due in March 2005. The follow-up to 1999's "The Fragile", which previously carried the working title of "Bleedthrough", is currently being mixed with Alan Moulder (The Cure, Smashing Pumpkins) and the final track listing is being discussed and determined, according to a posting at the group's official web site. A photo taken during the mixing sessions on Thursday (Oct. 28) has been posted online at this location.
"With Teeth" was recorded in part at Sound City Studio in Van Nuys, Ca., and features a guest appearance on drums by former Nirvana drummer/current Foo Fighters frontman Dave Grohl.
As previously reported, NIN mainman Trent Reznor called his collaboration with Grohl "one of the most inspiring and exciting experiences I've had in the studio," adding that Grohl helped the tracks "come alive in a 'better-than-I'd-even-hoped-for' type way."

I did not read every reply before posting this, so, if this has been menioned, I apologize.
First of all, the new album is titled "With Teeth". Trent has stayed true to himself and changed his mind. And all of you die hard NIN fans know, this is a constant thing for Trent. BUT we love him.
Tapeworm will probably never see the light of day. I hope it does, with Trent and Maynard being my two favorite male musicians in the world, but after 5+ years of messing around in the studio, you have to wonder if it is real, or just something to do because they are bored. Either way, I am happy they are working together.
Since Trent left New Orleans for Los Angelos, who knows what the future holds. It will be interesting to see.

Reznor Adds Dates, Invites Fans Into The Lab Once Again
June 28, 2005
Since Trent Reznor likes to let fans experiment with his songs, he has offered the components of his new single, "Only," in four different formats on his Web site, NIN.com. Just as they did with "The Hand That Feeds," fans can once again play the role of mad scientist and put their musical experiments to the test. "There is no agenda here other than for you to explore, experiment, and have fun with it," writes Reznor on the Web site. "Depending on how this goes we may construct a more formal community for remix postings and/or possibly some sort of official endorsement by means of an EP or something."
Meanwhile, the real single for "Only" will be released commercially on July 25. It will be available in several formats, including a DVD single which will include the "Only" video directed by David Fincher.
Furthermore, fans can now catch Nine Inch Nails on even more fall dates with Queens Of The Stone Age. The new dates are: 10/4 - Colorado Springs, 11/5 - Philadelphia, 11/7 - Albany, 11/8 - Boston, 11/10 - Montreal, 11/11 - Toronto, 11/19 - Salt Lake City. Even more dates will be announced.

Ah yeah, I read about that earlier. :D Sweet stuff, makes ya wonder why it hasn't been done before (well...maybe it has. *shrugs*). I listened to a few of the 'The Hand that Feeds' remixes on the top twenty thing the other day - really great idea he's got there. Trent said he might make an EP or something with the remixes on them too, or somethin'. :)
There's been over 500 'The Hand That Feeds' remixes...and since they've allowed 'Only' to be remixed by a larger range of computer users, there might be even more for than one. Jeez...
I bought WITHUH TEETHUH last week. Good shit. Hope to go to their Oakland concert in September. My friend Tyler thinks I'm absolutely batshit insane cuz of that though. It's the only one in the bay area, and in Oakland--one of the ghettoest cities on earth--, and...well, it's a Nine Inch Nails concert. Guarenteed to be thousands of crazies there. Will be quite an adventure.

NIN = the best live show ever! Ive been to many NIN shows in my life time, not 1 time did I fail to have a kick ass time. I gotta say they still have the energy level of a Music Titan. I seen them in May at the Electric Factory in Philadelpha on the smaller venu "With Teeth Tour". I go to a lot of shows there and I never seen the line 2 city blocks long 3 hours before they opened the doors. Im glad i got there early! Anyway both shows were sold out and unless you had $3-500.00 they were getting outside you were not getting in. I was about 10 feet away from the stage on the bar level. I had 4 of the hottest goth girls ive ever seen all over me the whole time. If you have not ever seen NIN live I would do so. There is a nice tour going on right now Ill be at the NYC and both PA shows. If anybody is going and wants to hook up for drinks before the show let me know im down.
On a side note. Trent Reznor has put out a song "NON-ENTITY" in response to Hurricane Katrina. The download only cost .99 cents and will go to help the gulf coast recover from the Hurricane's. Check that out HERE! (http://nin.com/current/index.html)

Nine Inch Nails are set to re-release their 1989 album "Pretty Hate Machine" next month via Rykodisc.
"Pretty Hate Machine," Nine Inch Nails' landmark debut album, will be reissued on Rykodisc on November 22, 2005. The album, which has been out of print for several years, is once again available in the U.S. Originally released in 1989, the innovative "Pretty Hate Machine" revolutionized Industrial music and fostered Nine Inch Nails' rabid fan base. Featuring the radio and club hits "Head Like A Hole" and "Down In It," "Pretty Hate Machine" is responsible for bringing Nine Inch Nails and the Industrial sound out of the underground and into the mainstream.
Originally released by US independent label TVT it was auctioned of during an asset sale earlier this year reports Billboard.
Trent Reznor has recently voiced his dislike for TVT on the bands website saying that he hoped “to eventually release a deluxe version” of the album but he had “the additional hassle of dealing with TVT records."

This was the real deal. Trent opened the set with "Head Like a Hole" and a couple other Pretty Hate Machine songs. Then he progressed to Downward Spiral and hearing "Closer" live is just like you'd hear it on the radio... but the sexual / concert energy makes it so exciting.
Since Memphis was a benefit concert, he did share his experiences of what he saw down there, and gave a very heart felt thanks to everybody in Memphis who came out to see VooDoo to raise / restore New Orleans. Some rap guy (I forgot his name) came and shared the stage for 2 songs, then he ended the set with "Only" and "Bite the hand that feeds".
Do whatever you can to see this band live. You won't ever forget it.

I waited 12 years to see NIN. Went to Voodoo Music Fest last Sunday and it was worth the wait.
Except for the dumb bitch up on her boyfriend's shoulders. I yelled at her and she got down. :)
It was kind of a "best of" show...
Head Like a Hole
Terrible Lie
March of the Pigs
Something I Can Never Have
Right Where it Belongs
Closer
The Wretched
Suck
Only
Wish (I think...I don't remember the entire setlist)
Hand that Feeds
Hurt
Loved it beyond words.
I got to see my two most favorite bands of all time in one day.
Go me. :)

NIN is one of my all time favorites. I saw them in 2000 (when A Perfect Circle was on tour with them) and I just saw them recently (this past November.) So far, as far as set up (i.e. sound/lighting/etc) it is the best show ever. I am hoping to go see them again in March when they come back through this area. I just hope that it doesn't take another 5 years for them to put out another album.

I bought "With Teeth" a while back and just kinda threw it in the back of my closet because I wasn't really digging it*cowers and trembles in fear*
But i just popped it back into the CD player today and listened to the whole thing. It was pretty amazing. Trent used his vocals this time to draw your attention and the lyrics were pretty rocking too. Good thing to listen to when you're in a 'blah' mood. But i always enjoyed his older stuff better. He had this way of making the music sound exactly like the mood of the rest of the song. Like in "Closer to God" Beautiful...

All those songs are GREAT! NIN style hasn't really changed much, and i like that. But i've been trying to settle something with a friend. Was Hurt originally written by Johnny Cash or NIN? I tried googling it but it didn't do much help. Said it was written by both artist...

Hurt was written by Trent Reznor and appeared on The Downward Spiral in 1994, Johnny Cash covered it in 2002 on American IV: The Man Comes Around. http://www.allmusic.com/ is a pretty good reference for finding out who the writer for a song is.

I just got back from the NIN concert in Richmond, VA. Oh my freakin god...they rocked. This is my third time seeing them and it just blows my mind each time I go. Trent got down on the floor at the barriers and sang with fans. He threw his mic out a couple times and let people in the audience sing (more like yell) too. And of course, they were throwing water bottles everywhere. It was just freakin amazing. I have no voice left and I still can't hear out of my right ear that well. They announced at the show that they are touring through the summer as well. This is the never ending NIN tour. No complaints here though. I plan on going again when they go through VA Beach in June. :D

It's just what Trent uses to number the various releases. Down in It was Halo 1, Every Day is Exactly the Same is Halo 21. Everything else falls in the middle somewhere, it makes a nice easy way to keep track of what official releases you are missing.
Except for the fact there are thing like Still which was released with And All That Could Have Been and both are Halo 17 even though you can get the latter without the former, and the three part We're in This Together single all of which are Halo 15, and 2 versions of Halo 10, Halo 4 & Halo 8.

This summer Trent Reznor and Peter Murphy are doing some live radio performances of reworked NIN/Bauhaus songs while on tour. They're really good and someone finally uploaded the songs to the net for the bandwidth-stealing pleasure of all your asses. NIN and Bauhaus are also apparently playing Bela Lugosi's Dead together live at shows, similar to what Trent did with Bowie back in '95. Also very good if you can find those files.
All of the songs played with Trent and Peter have been uploaded and posted on this page with some extra goodies: http://ninnewsfr.mihalis.org/bauhaus2006.php
