I just bought a ticket, so I'm off! We're currently having a load of faff because the site doesn't accept Carmen's card. :p
But... I'm all set!
I love the Hammersmith, first time I saw Blink182 was there so I'm glad I get to add another awesome band to my Hammersmith list. :D

ticketmaster dont have them up yet for sale or pre-sale! :(
when u book tickets online with a credit card do they mail them to you? or do you pick them up at the door on the night??
any ideas how much tickets are??
and if theres any age limits?
Bambi
09-13-2006, 01:39 PM
Mine were £22.50 each... I don't know whether they send them to you or what though.
Alesurya
09-13-2006, 01:45 PM
As Bambi said tickets are £22.50 but don't forget ticketmaster charges service charges per ticket(around £3+), processing fees AND postage per order.
As for age limits most apollos generally don't have age limits however, they usually advise that under 14s are seated in the circle and are not standing in the stalls.

At Hammersmith Apollo it's not uncommon for gig tickets to cost over £20. Sometimes they charge as much as £40 for a ticket BEFORE service charges.
Ticket prices are always slightly higer in London and as you progress through bigger venues the tickets become more and more expensive. Especially when the shows are one-off dates or are part of tours with few dates.
And of course tickets become even more expensive when the ticket sales sites start adding their service fees. Which also increase depending on location and venue size.
Wembley I think was about £25-ish when ev played there a couple of years ago. Can't remember exactly how much though.
Princess_Diane
09-13-2006, 02:05 PM
How big is Hammersmith Apollo anyway, because they are meant to be doing small venues this year and the big ones next year.
I know Manchester Apollo is pretty small.
Alesurya
09-13-2006, 02:09 PM
Seating capacity: 3632
Standing capacity: 5039
I'm not sure but I think full standing capacity also includes the standing space at the very back of the circle (upstairs seating).
Also, the seating capacity is when the seats are in the stalls rather than it being a standing area. The total capacity is NOT over 8000
So for evanescence the capacity will be 5039.

OK, I'll be buying my tickets tomorrow, Will anyone be able to show me (giving directions just gets me lost) where the Apollo is in London - Maybe we could get together in a pre-show meet up??? What do people think?
I'm going to get the train down I think - doubt I'll want to drive all that way when I've only just past my test a month (Assuming I'll pass that is)
Besides that way I can have a drink too ;)

Hammersmith Apollo is easy to find.
http://www.tfl.gov.uk has a journey planner which will help you find your way from wherever you are coming from to hammersmith tube stop and once you come out of the tube station there are sign posts directing you to the Apollo.
Not to mention you can just follow the huge mass of people in black.

lol, I hadn't thought of that!!!!
Cool, I'm coming from Spalding in Lincolnshire, & it is actually quicker to travel by train than car, I could park the car at Peterborough & get the train back the same evening I suppose that way I can get back to Spalding...(Spalding has an imposed public transport 'curfew' of 8pm, no trains in or out after 8pm)
Fantastic!!! I've got something to give me a kick to finish making my skirt for this event now, for those who're travelling from afar, are you all travelling in your gear for the concert or taking it with you & changing???
I'm so incredibly excited!!!!

09-13-2006, 03:22 PM

I think it's unlikely they'll play any more UK dates at this stage in the tour because a lot of dates have been confirmed across Europe and I don't know whether they'd actually be able to fit in another UK date. Maybe they'll come back at the end of this leg if the current dates sell out fast enough but you can't really be certain of anything other than those are the two dates for now.
But I'm sure they'll be touring again not too long after the current set of dates.

I dont know if the tickets are sold out yet but I dont think so maybe by the end of the weekend they will.

There's still tickets on ticketmaster, I just checked to see if it was still working and I managed to go through alright.
I just noticed they were selling whiteroom tickets. I've never noticed them actually selling them before. I don't quite get the point of it either.
If anyone's in London and wants to get their tickets in person (and avoid service fees) then the box office at the Dominion Theatre (the big place that's got We Will Rock You on at the moment) is supposed to sell tickets for hammersmith. There's a place near Victoria that's supposed to sell them too.

Yay.. the crazy Norwegian got tickets!!!!!!!
Okay... I am not exactly crazy though... just decided that I wanted to see them...and give the fact that they aren't playing in scandinavia... London here I come.
So... any good advice on accomodations in London?
Alesurya
09-15-2006, 03:15 PM
I don't know about good but there are a fair few hotels around hammersmith apollo, which may be the easiest option. It depends what you're after.
Here's a few in the whole of hammersmith, you might have to do a bit more searching to find ones closer to the venue:

Will someone please explain what this "White room" ticket lark is about *looks dumb*....???
Alesurya
09-15-2006, 03:21 PM
The whiteroom I *think* is supposed to be the VIP lounge.
It literally is a white room.
With a sofa and a tv.
And the last time I was in there the floor was covered in bags. <_<
I don't understand the idea of a whiteroom ticket though. My guess is that you have access to this 'VIP' area and during the concert you just take a normal seat.
Yemaya
09-15-2006, 03:23 PM
oh well, as long as I'm not missing out on anything.... :)
I ordered my tickets Thursday before this 'white room' thing came up...I've got standing space...I must be mad...What is the best 'position' for an Ev concert?
Alesurya
09-15-2006, 03:31 PM
Well that depends on what you're after.
You can always try and get to the front BUT the closer to the front you get the more squashed you get, which if you are not used to can be quite distracting.
Also if you're going to want to move away from one position, then the front may not be the best place for you.
At Hammersmith it's fairly easy to get a decent view and sound from anywhere. You just have to make sure you're not standing right behind a really, really tall person.
Other than that advice I can't really say a best position.
Yemaya
09-15-2006, 03:33 PM
Early queuing then for a front row spot....:D I'm too short to be much further back....I'd be the one caught behind the tall guy!!!

does anyone know if i can pre-book the tickets untill tomorrow morning on the ticketmaster website?
Alesurya

I don't think you can.
If you try an complete a page it often expects you to complete it in about 2minutes before they'll release them for someone else to buy. So I doubt they'd hold them for an extra day.
You could always try calling them and finding out though.
WiltingRose
09-15-2006, 03:38 PM
I love standing tickets, the whole getting squashed to death thing doesn't really bother me. Being a short-ish 14 year-old does have some advantages too, I've been at the front at pretty much every concert I've been too, its easy cos I can duck under peoples arms!
darkpixie
09-15-2006, 03:39 PM

Shame on me.... guess I should bring the binoculars.....
Alesurya
09-15-2006, 03:46 PM
There should be some left tomorrow. They're still on sale at ticketmaster and overnight its unlikely they'll sell loads.
I love the whole closeness of a gig. Especially if you've got a good crowd. Okay so you go home smelling a bit and all but I think it's part of this gig experience.
I've been in row P!
It's not too bad. It's sort of the middle row of the seating.
darkpixie
09-15-2006, 04:45 PM
is there an age limit??
Alesurya
09-16-2006, 02:45 AM
Nope. Well it depends on the show, sometimes when they have adult comedies there, they do have age limits but for most events they don't.
The only recommendation I think they have is that under 14s are seated and not in the standing area.
Yemaya
09-16-2006, 03:16 AM

Push everyone before they push you. if you don't fancy pushing, wear a lot of spikes.
That and wear a small helmet of some sort, for the odd idiot doing a crowd surf that kicks you in the skull. Good times.

I'm so excited...lol I'm going to be exhausted by the time this is all over...so is there any specific advice for people who are in the standing area???
Exactly what Kerny said but then there is always the chance that if a guy is stood next to you throwing his hair all over and bouncing in to you pull his hair, thats what I do because men with long hair throwing it everywhere = annoying.
Kerny
09-16-2006, 04:28 AM
That is a very good point, wear some kind of sweat repellant, or some kind of riot shield to repell the spray. As there is nothing much worse than a big hairy man in a vest moshing his little heart out next to you.
Princess_Diane
09-16-2006, 04:42 AM
^^ Agreed. Or take pepper and if he annoys you put it or try and put it under his nose then he cant stop sneezing that way you can mosh on him then. So mean but funny. :p

Alesurya
09-16-2006, 07:59 AM
Push everyone before they push you.
That I wouldn't recommend.
Because if you push into the wrong person you may have some problems, especially if a person has been drinking.
And also because when people start pushing before the gigs even started you end up with half the crowd being forced around and smaller people may be knocked down and you end up with piles of people on the floor. And security yelling at everyone.
If you are near the front though remember this. If a security guard is standing up on the step, get ready to put your hands above your head as chances are someone is crowdsurfing or about to be dragged over you.
SoulAxe
09-16-2006, 08:18 AM
Okay.. if this is correct.... I wonder where people are planning on standing...
One big mistake I made when ev last toured over here was getting to the venue at 10am and having nothing to eat. I sure paid for it in the evening. I was right at the front being squashed to death. I managed to survive the support bands but by the time it came to Evanescence literally walking onstage. I passed out and stupidly enough booed my heart out as I had to go the back of the standing area.
So just remember, if your getting to the venue early. Take plenty of food and drink!
Fragile-things
09-16-2006, 08:53 AM
Hmm...Mega sharp Ev-gliph style spikes on each knuckle and on the elbows...and on the shins incase you have to impale a few small people too! Woo! This is gunna rock! I'm probs gunna end up at the back (eating my midget-kebab) cause I gotta go college before hand so I'm guna be later. Still be standing in line for centuries. I'm gunna fuel up on Red Bull whilst I'm waiting so if you see someone drinking several bottles of cheap-wannabe-red-bull and giggling like a looney or doing some pre-show moshing you know that's gunna be me!
Water's always a good idea too, if you faint in line people will walk over you :D
I wanna construct something random during the show, like bringing billions of straws and creating a large poking stick. "For what?" you say?....I haven't decided...You think they'll let me in with 200 packets of straws?
EDIT: NOT a serious question:P

I can't remember what hammersmiths policy on sharp jewellery is, but at wembley I remember them getting everyone to take off chains and spikes to make sure no one got hurt.
Something I completely understand. I mean would you want to be squashed against the wrong end of someones large spiked arm band? Trust me, it hurts.
Foodwise, there are plenty of places round hammersmith. You can even go to tesco!
SoulAxe, there are two seating plans on the ticketmaster site. One is for events which are all seated. And another shows you what it's like when it's an event with standing.
Basically, at a standing event all the area shown as stalls on the plan you posted is the standing area.

My pal Peter booked tickets for us both. Ev have skipped Scotland for the second time so I figured I'd make the bum trip the length of the country to see them since I haven't before.
So, I see we have to queue at 10am (or around) to get in a good standing position? I've never had to do that before for a gig :p I get the idea of taking food yeah, but... what if you need to pee? That's my biggest dilema, lol. So shall be seeing you all there!

There's toilets in the little shopping centre thing but you have to pay, I think it's 20p!
Or you can use the weird public toilet box thing, but it smells funny and I'd would never advise anyone to go in there. Never.

Yeah, but would people who are behind you in the queue be too happy about you leaving the queue then rejoining it because "your friends kept your place"? I had trouble with that a few weeks ago on a night out, but it was concerning taxis :p

Excuse me.........
*walks over to the brick wall and starts pounding his head against it*
How could I have been so stupid.... ofcourse the lower section is just standing when Ev plays.... f...k.
Well.....guess you all standing folks can count yourself lucky then, not having to try to shove me aside ;) my 6'2'' (188) frame....not very tall but tall enough to block plenty of peoples view. But it would have been cooler to be in the crowd though, altough I am pretty sure I would have stood out like a pimple ready to burst on an otherwise spotless face. Awh hell... atleast I get to see them.. through my spyglass.. (if I remember to bring one)

I still haven't bought my ticket yet on the strength of the fact I don't know anyone who'd be willing to meet me from the train station at whatever time of day since I don't know London at all! Since you're all planning on queuing pretty early it seems :p plus the prospect of queuing by myself for hours...!
And what's the name of this hotel that's near the Hammersmith? 'Cause I definately have to stay somewhere overnight!

Hey Phoenix, I'll come meet you at the station if you like, I'm going down the night before to stay with my little bro. & I used to live right near London & will have pre-spec'd the place out on the Sunday, So just PM me, & I'll give you my mobile number etc. & I'll meet you from the station, hmmm as for the hotel, I've no idea, sorry.

Lol, I think that you do get searched. However, if you can manage to get in with 4 cans up Red Bull up your sleaves and up your trouser legs then you cn sneak in a few chains lol. I'm not sure if it's there that doesn't allow you to take cans or bottles in (cause they can be used as weapons. What? Don't believe me? Eva tried pulling a can in half, sharp!) Either way, nothing's really stopping you, except common sense but COME ON! It's Evanescence! I bought bloody pre-pre-sale tickets! That's just sad!
And I disagree, leaving the concert with viscious looking scars across your arms (or face is you're small) is just cool (well, at the time it seems to be!). Maybe if we see Amy after the show and your face is covered in blood she'll sign an autograph for you, I wouldn't try asking for a hug though:rolleyes:

They do search you at Hammersmith, I was there for a Tool concert in June and they searched the people wearing hoodies and stuff.
Edit - How early are people getting there? I usually end up getting there about 2 hours before with school and stuff. But it looks like my friend has an after school GCSE music lesson she HAS to go to, which might make actually being able to see the band slightly difficult. Pah

When it comes to long-term queuing like at gigs, people just have to accept that other people have to leave and then rejoin the queue to get food or drink or go to the toilet.
Anyone who starts moaning because you went to the toilet is a either complete ass or some form of super-human who has no normal bodily functions. Either way you should ignore and avoid them.

I am sure if you arrange to meet with Evboard people you will be able to join in but sometimes they are really strict on things like that after a certain time they always lock the barriers so I dont know.
I think the traffic may be quite bad at that time its usually rush hour!

This should be awesome!
Yemaya, thanks, and I'll PM you in a minute :)
If anyone doesn't like the fact that people have to leave to go to the toilet, then how rude! If they went to the toilet or something, would we nice people insist that they join the end of the queue instead of getting their place back? Nooooo 'cause we're nice Evboarders and we understand about these things :p
Yemaya
09-17-2006, 10:43 AM
Oh yes, & besides, if you're in the queue long enough, you should be standing with other people that need to pee!!!!! :p As long as you don't all go at once, thing's will be fine :) Maybe if a group of Evboarders get at the front of the queue, maybe if food needs fetching, one person could go whilst the rest fend off the 'ugly' people in the crowd??? Me three!!!! My tickets arrived this morning, I hope I get to keep them afterwards :)
I think it's a queue & see who gets to the front first job :) by the looks of the tickets it's general admission.
heh! Mum woke me up this morning telling me my 'fizzy tickets' were here - she calls them "Effervescence" you see *Major Eye Roll*
As for the advantage ... they weren't sold out!?!? :p
I'd imagine camcorders would definitely be out, but I think someone mentioned you could take camera's, but I'd only take disposable, especially if you're in the stalls....too much crushing won't do the equipment any good I feel.

Depending where you are going to you should be ok getting trains. Gig shouldn't finsih later than half ten.
From Hammersmith easiest way on trains is to get Districtline and either go into to London or if you're going South or to Waterloo get off at Richmond and go to whichever platform you need :)
About leaving teh que and stuff i don't have a problem with it and don't see why others would to be honest. Getting there early to get places at the front means you'll be there a long time. If people need the toilet or wanna go get lunch they are entitled for people to save their places. Same as if some can't get there till after their mates.
Also if you do need the toilet don't use the cubicle thing that is right there it stinks. The ones in the shoppig centre charge money. GO TO THE PUB AT THE END OF THE ROAD BY THE STATION ;)

The Piccadily line and Hammersmith and City line also runs from Hammersmith tube station.
Also, there are loads of buses.
I mentioned http://www.tfl.gov.uk before, but a good thing to do (especially as its a monday night) would be to look at how to get to whatever station you need to get home from hammersmith both by tube AND by bus. That way if theres tube chaos (and by that I mean like half the system shuts down, a few delays or a single line suspension never constitutes chaos, that's perfectly normal ) you know which bus to get.
Last couple of hammersmith gigs I've been to finished closer to 11. It will probably depend on how many support bands and what time it all starts.
Ian, why did you not tell me about the pub before? You're telling me I've been paying to pee for no good reason?!?!?!?111one :o ;)

09-20-2006, 12:50 PM
My little brother told me, that after midnight the underground shuts down anyway, so be prepared for a bus!!! If you're travelling only a short distance, also like me, be prepared for it to take you forever to get there by bus!
I shall have to go & find out routes etc. for me..as I'm still not quite sure EXACTLY where my brother lives  So I guess that'll be something to find out. Just thought I'd share what I know with you all though.
Catch you later!!!
Alesurya
09-20-2006, 12:59 PM
Actually, the buses after midnight run fairly well. You get home almost twice as fast as you would making the same journey doing the day. I find they're more likely to be on time as well, largely because there's little traffic to hold them up!
You do get the odd tubethat will run until up to 1am, but they never run later than that. It might even be that the last train reaches it's final destination just gone 1. But then and again, if your last train leaves at midnight, what does it matter what time the last tube comes?

Well Tottenham Hale is fairly far from Hammersmith and of course you can never guarentee there'll be no traffic. I'm just talking from my experiences of night buses and they've all been fairly good.
It depends on the bus route though. If someone's just getting the bus to a particular Central London station I don't think it'll be quite that long, even many outer London stations don't take that long.

I've just been told by my friend that she now can't come to the concert anymore, which is a bit of a pain because the tickets have already arrived.
So, I can't promise anything yet, but is there anyone who would like a non-ebay priced single standing ticket?
Also, could anyone save us a place fairly towards the front of the line? Theres currently 3 of us and I'm only asking because with school and stuff we would be able to get to the venue earliest by 5. And as we're all under 5''5
being at the front would be a major plus. I don't know if this would be ok or anything but I thought I'd just ask anyways

Oh yes!!! I agree, that's not fair, because then Everyone could have 'saved' spaces & the poor people who've queued for hours could get a bit upset, it's different if you've been standing there hours & need to get food go to the toilet etc. but saving spaces for someone who basically has prior more important commitments (Given the fact that alot of us will have taken time off work for this) is a bit unfair.

Yes, some of us have had to grovel to the boss to get the extra day off for Manchester.
I didn't want to sound nasty or anything, but yeah. Considering how long some will be queuing, if someone just swanned up to the front, I would be pretty wee-wee'd off.

Tsk, Tsk everyone encouraging playing truant, just what the government wants! ;)
IMO it depends on the circumstances and who the person is. I know several people from here and if I was able to get there early enough and they needed me to save them a space I'd be happy to. Saying that, no offence to any of you I have never met, but it wouldn't be the same.
It also depends on the time aswell, personally I think any time after 5, jumping to the front is fairly rude, but that's just me.
I mean, you've got to remember it's a monday. Most people who go will have attended school or work first, so chances are the queue won't really start building until 5-5.30ish.

Basically yes. It just depends how in to a band you are if you do that and how dedicated you are about getting to the front or meeting them beforehand.
I will start queueing early and save places for people who arrive later on.

pheeeeeeww, I've just bought my ticket. It took me ages to find a box office in London that sells them (Apollo doesn't have one  ).
I've also found out that they are almost sold out: there are only 40 stalls tickets left and about 200 for upstairs. The ticket lady said that surely they will all be sold in less than a week. This is a GREAT NEWS FOR EVANESCENCE (and not so for the fans who haven't bought their tickets yet). Despite mixed reviews of the new album and really crappy promotion from Sony (it's almost they are saying to Ev: you didn't need us to write your non-commercial album, you promote yourselves) Ev are doing great! :)

Sorry if I offended anyone with my earlier post or offended the government, but you know, I still agree with what I said, people who haven't queued for hours & just hop right on up to the front are gonna upset those poor people who waited in the freezing cold for hours to get good spaces, only to have them taken, by people who're most likely toasty warm & had the luxuary of sitting on their butts all day...not that there's anything wrong with that...but, well I hope no-one's offended & can kinda see my point at least :)

Woo Viking!!!!!!!
I'm going through a I <3 viking stuff phase at the moment, mainly inspired by Turisas, you should probably ignore that. :/
You don't start thumb twidling, you start singing about the security guards! And when buses go past, and birds, and people who give weird stares and then you start singing about the 99 bottles of beer.
As for the spare ticket, personally I wouldn't advise ebay. Because the ticket may just get cancelled (especially as the rules about ebay-ing tickets are being changed), it's difficult to say what to do, make sure you try everyone you know who might be remotely interested first.

Those poor people who're getting hotels in London, what's going on there, anyone found any cheap ones? Because my younger brother's having trouble with his house mates, so I'm gonna need a cheap hotel ;) Also if anyone's up for sharing a group room or something, then just pm me :) I'll entertain most ideas at this stage ;)

I posted a couple of links a few pages back. I think there's one thats 600m from hammersmith station thats was from about £30 a night.
There's bound to be some slightly cheaper ones though, don't go expecting them to be too cheap mind, this is London after all!
EDIT: Here's another cheap-ish hotel list. Not all are right by hammersmith though. Also looking around I've found that at the moment, if you're booking a night prices are on average around £80. It seems that it might be a bit cheaper waiting until closer to the gig.

Travelodges aren't that expensive if you're sharing with someone, when I went to see Nightwish in Manchester with Blitz it was like £22 for each of us. Which is not that bad considering Travelodges are usually pretty comfortable and have tv's and clean baths, lol!!!

If people are going to Manchester on the first train there should eb a few of you would likely be a club on somewhere in Central London so if you get a travelcard you'll have no worries about passing the time and save on accomodation

Actually that's a good point, and if you don't want to do a club, you could look for one of the 24 hour pubs.
Although you might want to remember to bring LOTS of coffee money for the next day.

Umm, Gatwick airport is like over an hour away from central London, at least by car. It takes like 45 minutes in no traffic to get from there to where I live which is just outside central London.
So I'd say sleeping in Gatwick is a bad idea, if you really want to sleep in an airport I'd say go with Heathrow...its alot closer! :p

Probably not as good as heathrow but it's not too bad a place. There'll probably be other people sleeping there anyway.
Saying that, it is going to be harder to get to gatwick from the gig than it would be to get to heathrow.

If you're hard up for money and don't want to stay somewhere really expensive, I suggest a youth hostel if there is one. They're not the Ritz but they're clean and warm and inexpensive.

I looked into Youth Hostels, there are quite a few in london, if you don't mind getting just a bed in a dorm, they can be as little as £10 per night, but I expect if you try & sleep in an airport or at victoria, the security will move you on - there are a lot of homeless people that they're trying to keep out & at those times, they might not be willing to see the difference...:-/

Tsk, Tsk everyone encouraging playing truant, just what the government wants! ;)
I was joking. ;)
IMO it depends on the circumstances and who the person is. I know several people from here and if I was able to get there early enough and they needed me to save them a space I'd be happy to. Saying that, no offence to any of you I have never met, but it wouldn't be the same.
See, I wouldn't even do that. It is unfair on those that have waited hours for someone to turn up, stroll to the front and take the place of someone that has been there several hours. I don't fancy my face being squished into the concrete. ;)
It also depends on the time aswell, personally I think any time after 5, jumping to the front is fairly rude, but that's just me.
I mean, you've got to remember it's a monday. Most people who go will have attended school or work first, so chances are the queue won't really start building until 5-5.30ish.Yeah, agreed. They might actually get lucky and still get fairly close to the front after 5 anyways. Some just go because they can... I know I have attended shows but not really cared where I go. I reckon it's only the die hard fans that will be there early. So, fingers crossed. :)

You might not be able to sleep at the airport now they've heightened all the security.
The Eurostar part of Lonodn Waterloo station is open 24 hours you can usually crash there until the station opens about half 4-5 by which time you can make your way to get the first train to Manchester or wherever it is you're going :)

Hello everyone,
Just wondering if there are any tickets floating around that need to be sold? I have just moved to England from Canada so not only will I miss the show in Toronto, but I also missed the initial sale of tickets for the London show. I am looking for 1 or 2 tickets standing. Please if anyone has extra tickets or knows of any up for grabs, I would really appreciate it. The new album rocks, can't wait to hear the new material live. Thanks.

Also, if anyone does plan sleeping in queues, make sure you're around people you can trust. I have heard of people who have tried to catch up with their sleep and woken up to find their phones, money and tickets stolen.
Anyone looking for spare tickets: even if you can't find any prior to the gig, it may be worth coming down anyway. Often, people will have bought tickets for say a group of 4 friends and one or two might not have been able to come, just try to make sure you're getting it off the person who's friends couldn't come and avoid the touts.
Bambi

I've got my tickets, but what's wrong with the touts? I'm really new to the whole gig thing, so what do they sell fake tickets or something? Or just massively overpriced ones?

It's just not good for anyone. It means that tickets don't get to real fans like me who want them, without paying for them massively overpriced. I'm still looking for extras (1 or 2) but won't be buying from a tout on the day.
Alesurya
09-25-2006, 02:37 PM
Usually they slap on about a 100% profit for themselves.
And of course unless you've seen an actual ticket for the event there is the chance it could be a fake. I've never actually seen a tout sell a fake, usually because they buy their tickets off the people who had one to spare but you can never be certain.
Which leads me to this...
Last time I went to hammersmith, they were scanning the bar codes of the tickets rather than taking the ticket stubs.
I don't know for certain whether they're still doing this but if they are then what they may also be doing is checking the tickets sold on ebay and cancelling them and you may not know until your at the door of the apollo.

Ha ha you're referring to Trivium right? It was thsoe people from Southends fault. Bunch of arsonists :p
Yemaya: The more the merier we'll be at the front of the que or there abouts
There are usually touts about selling tickets and usually for gigs they are genuine but its always risky of course and will cost you a LOT. Unless you ahppen to be a really pretty girl who flirts with them then they seem more willing to sell at a decent price  Also what Alex said about the barcode scanners makes it doubly risky buying from them but if you can get a ticket and see the show its worth it
Alesurya
09-26-2006, 10:17 AM
Yeah, blame it on the people from Southend  ;)
My point about the barcode scanners also covers ebay btw. All they need to do is get someone to check what number tickets are being sold and cancel the codes, and you might not know until you get to the door.
Wicket619
09-26-2006, 11:13 AM
Why would they do that though? If somone brought tickets but now can't go they would likely put them on ebay
Alesurya
09-26-2006, 11:29 AM
A few months ago there was a lot of news about the touting of tickets over ebay, where £30 tickets were going for as much as £600 and there was mention of changes in the law to make it illegal to sell tickets over ebay. I'm fairly sure that hasn't been enforced yet, but a lot of venues have been making moves themselves to crack down on the touting of tickets over ebay, especially if they are for sold out gigs going for very high prices.
And for the people who can no longer go to a gig they are supposed to be setting up an exchange system for the selling of tickets for gigs people can no longer make at the value of the ticket and no more.
With hammersmith's barcode system it would make it fairly easy for them to cancel the tickets and ensure that they cannot be used.
If anyone does have a spare ticket I guess the best thing to do would be to contact wherever you bought it from and see if you can return it to them to resell.

It is more than likely going to be a UK Wind Up signed band, every Wind Up band I have ever been to see the support is usually from the UK, apart from Seether at Evanescence for obvious reasons.
As long as they are not like Glitterati then thats fine but if they are then I will seriously kill myself.

Haha, I was such a brave/stupid lil Ev fan! It was so damn hot at the front! I kinda blacked out a few songs in 'cause I was jumpin around like a lunatic. Right after I came to i jumped to my feet, belted out half a line from The Only One pumping my fist in the air and then I went down again. Was quite funny...maybe not for my bf who didn't understnad the bullshittish I was speaking "Hey, I need my blood back" "You want water?" "Yeah, blood!"...Then we had to go to the back to get water *grumbles*
Fuckin' pwned tho! Next time I'm gettin seating tickets though...I wanted proper experience of standing. Unfortunatly I had to make the most of it cause I was surrounded by "head bobbing emos" who stood motionless for a majority of the time.
