I have a big Oasis fan as a friend at this college.
Give me your thoughts on Oasis. Preferably loving, and I'll surprise him with the responses when there's a lot. If there is never a lot, then I'll know I'm not missing much by liking White Zombie better.

Okay... u know how we get ppl here who r lik omg evanscene is teh bestest band eva and I'm gon c amy soon! omg I want her autograph!
Her friend is like that, for Oasis. Why, I don't know. At least pick a band that's decent to obsess over endlessly. Seriously, the dude has his wall covered in posters and stuff for the band. It's beyond stupid.

Actually they are technically indie as that is the genre they play. :D
Aquiesce, Married with Children, Masterplan and Stand by Me are all brilliant songs for those who like Dont Look Back In Anger and Wonderwall.
Champegne Supernova is IMO the best song Noel has wrote.
*Oasis fact of the day* All the songs on the first 3 albums were wrote by Noel before he had even joined the band.

Indie isn't a "genre." There is no such thing as sounding indie. Oasis are not indie, as they are on Epic Records, which is a very major label.
And they're only ok. They get boring if I listen to an entire album, but "Wonderwall" is a special song for me.

Actually Indie is a genre. It is the collective name of Britpop, Britrock, Emo, Screamo, Rock (hard (The Who) and soft(Beatles) and Garage Rock.

*Random Oasis Fact* Definitly Maybe has been voted as the most influential album of the 90's by numerous magazine's, TV programs, Channels, Radio polls.

Ryan Adams' cover is definitely great. But when I hear the original "Wonderwall," it takes me back to a few years ago...one of those songs that I have to love simply for the nostalgia factor.
I actually heard it on the radio in the show this morning. :p Good times.

So Evanescence, AC/DC, and Colplay are all indie bands now? Um...ok. I suppose you're the expert, though.

Well Ev would be more in the metal genre as are AC/DC. But Coldplay are most definitly an indie band.
*Random Oasis Fact* Oasis have quite a large amount of famous fans. These include Benji and Joel Madden (Good Charlotte), Lars Ulrich (Metallica), Marilyn Manson, Fred Durst, Shakira, Avril Lavigne, Nelly Furtado, Foo Fighters, Rob Zombie, and Eddie Vedder (Pearl Jam)

("Indie" is short for "independent." As in independent record labels. Indie bands are bands on independent record labels.)
To make this post on topic (heh, sorry): I forgot that I own the album Be Here Now. Overall, I can't get "into" it, so I guess I'm just not an Oasis person, besides Wonderwall. But the opening track on BHN is pretty cool, and I can't say I regret spending the $2 on the album at a local pawn shop. What's the general Oasis fan opinion on BHN?
I'll stay out of this thread if I'm getting annoying now. :p

BHN is the worst of all the oasis albums. Its still a grat album but Definitly Maybe, (WTS)MG, Masterplan, SOTSOG, Heathen Chemisty are better. I recommend any of the others.

wow, ryan... ...is amazing.
Thank you.
Oasis are loved by both pop-followers and rock-followers alike. I happen to really like Oasis. The words are simplistic, and they overuse 'shine', but they're still effective.
For those who don't know, Noel and Liam share lead vocals, and it comes off really well, since both their voices are quite likable.

I'd love to see Oasis live. They have so many good songs. The thing is, they aren't all from one successful cd which is the case for a lot of artists. What's the Story... is great, but so is Masterplan and Standing on the Shoulders of Giants.

They performed here a while ago, but I couldn't go to see them. :(
I love this band, they rock. My favorite songs are Stop Crying your Heart Out and Champagne Supernova, they're beautiful. The good thing about them is that they don't have good songs all in one album, all of their albums have great songs and you can't have just one.
