It took the 930 club quite a while to put the Flogging Molly concert on their website, so I am guessing they will update it at the last second. Then again, the dates just came out so it may be updated within the next couple weeks. I don't know...
I have never been to the 930 club how small is small, by the way? :)

tickets go on sale 8/19 according to the ev website.
930 is an amazing venue, there is no bad view of the stage, anywhere. i've been to many concerts there, and trust me, you won't be disappointed.
i'm so there- 4 days before my birthday. helllls yeah.

OMG I am so excided about this, I cant wait!! :D I've only been to the 9:30 once and it was really great. My friend got us VIP seating which put us on the first row of the upper level thing. It was pretty cool but I think it would have been a lot more fun to be down in front of the stage instead. Hopefully I can get those kind of seats this time!

I believe it has about a 1500 max occupancy.
I am so glad they're playing this venue. I've seen several shows there before, I love the place. I'm pretty sure I'm going.

It's always general admission at this venue. Most everyone stands, if not in the pit, then on the balconies. Though there are bleachers to sit on that are located on the balconies, but if you do that, you won't see much stage action.

the tickets cost around 15-35 dollars depending on the band, how many bands play and what not.
I'm so getting there real early to get the best seats possible!

Oh this is sweet. I haven't seen Evanescence since Constitution Hall way back when. October 11 is a Wednesday, crap; I hope it's an earlier show--only way I can get back to campus (Maryland-College Park) after the show is via Metro. I'll be getting there ASAP after classes end.
The earlier you get there, the better your spot in line, the more choice of spots for the show. I imagine it'll be tight quarters for Evanescence. It'll probably be as packed as the Sonic Youth show in June was (I was at the late one, and it was still packed).

This is not the first Evanescence visit to the 9:30 club -- they appeared there back in Feburary of 2003. Tickets for that show cost $1. Yes, really. I imagine that tickets for this one will be quite a bit north of $1. That was long enough ago that the concert review thread was on the old evanescence.com message board.
This will be great as I can get a ticket, which might be a problem, given the size of the venue. Anyone read anything about presales, presale codes, or anything of that sort, or is it just going to be all tickets up on the 19th?

How early do you mean? Knowing D.C traffic, I'm trying to gage what time I should leave. I have art class the next day, I've already decided to not go. It's just going to be too late of a night.
xFarther_Awayx
08-12-2006, 04:52 PM
I've gotten there a few hours before the doors open and gotten a pretty decent spot. I'm never in the pit, because if I'm not in the front of it, I can't see a thing, because I'm short. So I usually get a nice spot on the balconies.
But it does depend on the band as well, and seeing as how Ev are big, I'd get there some hours in advance.
Oh, and be careful when driving near/around the club. Last time I was there, there was a car wreck. (Not a bad one, people just bumped each other, but still watch out.)
pointaken
08-12-2006, 05:01 PM
Yeah a 2-4 hours is a good bet if you want a spot near the front of the main area or your pick of the balcony area. Maybe since it's a weekday show you can cut it a little closer, though Evanescence is big enough that you're better off getting there early.

I flew out to DC from California two weeks after seeing Ev in LA for the Daredevil premiere back in Feb 03 and had a blast at the concert. In LA I was lucky enough to hang out with Ev after the concert and at the After Party at On the Rocks all night. In DC, me and two other evboard fans stood outside in freezing cold weather for 6 hours (in a bad part of town, mind you) to ensure we were first in line. Yes, Amy, Ben, Will, John, and Rocky recognized me and Amy was cool enough to get the three of us in to the DC101 meet and greet before the show. After the show we all hung out at the front of the stage (couldn't really move since there were so many fans rushing to the front squishing me up there). Single greatest concert experience of my life -- and unmatched since a few days later, the album came out, sold 6 million copies, and it became impossible for the band to just hang out like the normal good-natured people they are. Fame is a double-edged sword.
Anyway, flash-forward 3.5 years later (my God, has it been that long?) and I'm sitting here in Iraq with a return home date sometime around October 11th......hoping this is God's plan to set up a rousing welcome home party for me complete with an Ev concert just 10 blocks from my apartment and not one of those ironically cruel twisted jokes the fates like to play. I do hope and pray that everything will work out just fine in the end, but I strongly urge people to be there in line as early as you can, and if you see a guy who looks like he just got off a plane coming from Iraq, give a holler and maybe save me a spot?

Wow, you go to hang out with them?? I bet that was fun.
I and I'm sure others would love to save you a place! That would be great to come home from Iraq and get to see EV as a welcome home present. I'll keep you in my prayers. Please be safe out there and thanks so much for the job you guys are doing out there! Keep us updated...

Since they're not on the 9:30 site or Ticketmaster yet, I'm assuming you got that price from a broker.
So far the prices I've seen elsewhere range between $25-$35...so I would assume that that's how much these will be too. There is no way they're $150.

I really doubt they'd be that much. At least I'd really hope not.
I expect them to be in the price range Tracie said. Last time I saw them it was a much bigger venue, and the tickets were like $41, without fees. So I don't think they would've gone up too much from that.
And just a tip for those checking ticketmaster for this date, the Club goes through Tickets.com instead. (They do on everything I've seen, so I don't think it would've changed.)

it wouldnt make sense for the three shows up on ticketmaster right now to cost, at most, $35, and the others 115 or 120. it just doesnt make any sense whatsoever.
wait till the show comes up on ticketmaster and see how much they are charging.

The site that b00bles showed me, wasn't a ticketmaster type site. It was a broker...just so everyone doesn't get all upset.
Tickets will be no more than $50. I'd bet my cat's life on that. Maybe for the next show at the larger venues, they'll be more expensive, but at these smaller venues. There's now way they're going to be that expensive.

any pre-sale tickets are online but if your computer is really slow then I suggest you call.
one problem is that sometimes your on hold for like an hour waiting for a sales person and then the tickets are sould out (i.e. Maroon 5 at Merriweather Post Pavilion).
If you can, go to a library and use the computer because it's much quicker.

That's everywhere, dear. You're more likely to get shot or stabbed than hit by a car in that neighborhood.
But people do need to be safe. This is not a safe area in the least bit. If you really want to be first in line, good luck, but I wouldn't recommend standing out there by yourself (or even in a small group).

I've lived in Baltimore my entire life, so maybe that's why Baltimore's crime rate really doesn't bother me or make me think when I go outside, but this neighborhood is a worse than any neighborhood here.

Well, just make sure that if you do get there early you are with a group of people YOU know, not people who are just standing there unless they are real evboard members. I doubt anyone would impersonate that, but people are weird, so ya never know. But considering that Ev haven't really been played on the DC stations I listen to you might not even need to wait outside :P But then again the cd is gonna be released right before the show...

My take on the situation is that there are a good amount of Evanescence fans in the area who don't really check here or the official page often, but like me compulsively check the 9:30 club and Black Cat websites to see if any cool shows are coming to town.
Anyway, I got my ticket at like 10:30 this morning after mowing the lawn. It felt better than the shower.

I'm not surprised in the slightest by the quick sellout -- I actually took the precaution of buying my ticket literally the second they went on sale at tickets.com. Evanescence has long been popular here -- this will be their fifth tour date in the market; I don't know that any place else has had more (excluding private events and anything pre-2003). WRQX-107.3 did announce the concert and may have given away some tickets for it. Still odd that that station is the only one (I think) giving the new song decent airtime -- back in 2003 WWDC-101.1 was one of the first major market stations to give Bring Me to Life max airplay, and three or four other stations in the area played it very heavily as well.

So I buy 3 tickets Saturday morning bright and early. Think nothing of it until tonite when I decide to look at the confirmation page and think about how much fun my 1st Evanescence concert is going to be. Turns out somehow, I have no clue how, I bought tickets to a completely different show. How in the world could this have happened? I checked that page like 200 times before I submitted it. Goodbye $100, hello Philly and another $100 plus gas. I don't feel like waiting another 6 months or so for a huge US tour. I would have been cool to see them in a small venue. Now I don't even know if I can afford to go to Philly. Damn college textbooks.

Yeah, I got mine in the mail the other day. In case you've never ordered a ticket from tickets.com or ticketmaster.com before -- the envelope these things come in is plain and not marked and looks more like a bill or one of those deceptively official looking credit card offers than anything.

Does anyone know who's going to open for them?

Yeah, Revelation Theory (http://www.myspace.com/revelationtheory) is opening for them. :) Not sure if anyone else is yet or not but Revelation Theory is pretty good!

Well, now, that fucking sucks. So for this girl's quince, I bought her a ticket to the show. I also bought one for myself. My mom misunderstood when I said I bought 2 tickets and thought I had gotten the girl two tickets, so she mailed both to her, and I'm SOL. FUCK!

So why don't you tell the girl?

Because my mom and sister had told her that it was so she could take one of her friends...they had thought I had bought one separately for myself. It's not like I can take back what was given as a gift. And since technically my mom paid for them (I was going to reimburse her when I picked up the tickets)...she was like "I paid for them, your sister told me that you had your own, so this is how it is."
So could someone please sneak in a digital camera and take some video of a song or two for my sake?

You don't have to sneak in a digital cam, you're allowed to have them.

You didn't find even one song to enjoy? Lithium??? :(

I don't know why you're bringing it to this thread (if this is just a cheap quick attack).
But I am going for a few people more than the "band" itself. I've already got the tickets that someone else paid for, I think it might be a little rude to sell them. Although, I can't say I haven't thought about it.
Those bitches would go for quite a bit.

I've been to the venue a few times and they've never said you're not allowed to have a digital cam. They didn't even check for them. That's not to say that they will be allowed in, I just know that the venue usually allows them.

Ok, so about the cameras, does anyone know for sure if they are allowed or not? And if not, would about cell phones? Besides Revelation Theory, I don't know of any other bands opening for them. And as far as meeting the band, I'd say your best bet is to wait around outside near the buses or something.

For the whole backstage thing... most people get in through connections and winning meet and greats through radio stations. Radio Stations that will give MnG away: DC101, WRQX 107.3, HOT 99.5, 98.0 (I think)! Good luck
As for connections, you need to know someone who knows the band/crew ( or know them yourself)!
My Example: My Technology teacher thinks I'm really smart and talented..And he knows i luuuuuvvvvvvvv Evanescence. His borther-in-law is best-friends with Terry Balsamo. So he's trying to get backstage passes for me! Sofar it aint to good due to minimal contact with Terry due to his strok (whew that was long :P)!
Good Luck on getting backstage passes! If you put enough time and effort into it something good will happen. You can also wait by the gate to see if someone from the band comes out (they usually do..... i think atleast)!

Best night EVAAAAR.
Ok, so here's my review: I got to the club at about 5pm. I expected the line to be way longer than what it was. The spot we got turned out to be right next to the door of Ev's bus. I saw Terry around a few times, and then Rocky walked by and onto the bus. I saw Richie (Amy's bodyguard) a lot, and when he first walked by I was like "It's Richie" to my mom, and I think he heard me but I was too shy to say hi. I was kinda bummed when it was almost time for the doors to open, because none of the band came out to sign anything. But I got over it, and just looked forward to the show.
Doors opened at 7:30, I got a nice spot up on the balcony, I could see everyone on stage pretty well. (Well, it was hard to see Rocky when Ev played because of a light set-up) Revelation Theory were pretty good. After they played, the lead singer was walking through the pit selling Cds, and I wanted to meet him, but I didn't want to lose my spot so I stayed where I was.
Then Ev came on. OMGGG. *insert fangirl squee here* It was awesome. They sounded so great. Amy's voice amazes me. I was so glad that she did the high/operatic notes in some of the songs. Her voice sounds so much stronger and better than it did 3 years ago when I saw them. (Not saying she sounded bad, but you can tell she's gotten a load better.) And the guys were all awesome and did their thing. The whole band rocked.
After the show, we went outside, where there was a line against the wall. I walked down further to where it started, saw Richie standing there next a to gate that was put up, and assumed that someone would be coming out to sign some stuff. So I got in line with my mom and step-dad, and these two girls that we met inside when we were waiting for everything to start. Now, I never thought I'd met any of the band, because I figured they'd always play big venues, and it's a lot harder to meet people at those. So I was really excited that I was getting my chance. Oh yeah, while we were in line the lead singer of Rev Theory, Rich, came out and was selling CDs again, so I asked him if I could get a picture with him and he said yes. Then I bought their Cd and he signed it for me. He was a really nice guy.
First they had said that we could take pictures, but not with the band, then they changed and said no pics at all. So Richie walked by and we asked him what the deal was and he told us. I was a little sad because I wanted a picture. But then he lowered his voice and told us that if we waited around until most everyone was gone, we could get a picture with Amy. So I beamed at that. Oh, and I got a picture with Richie. After he talked to us my mom was like "Hey Richie", and he turned and said "Yes, ma'am?" and she asked him if he'd take a picture with me and he said sure. He's a nice guy, and a HUGE thanks goes out to him for helping me because otherwise I wouldn't have gotten a pic with Amy. I wish I could've thanked him before we left, but he had to shuffle people away from Amy. Hopefully I'll see him again one day and then I can tell him.
Here's the picture of me and him. It was kinda awkward taking it because he had to lean down to get to my level, lol.
http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y23/Ode_ForCruelty/Ev/MeandRichie.jpg
Finally it was my turn, and I was starting to get really shy but I knew I had to make the best of it. I got John's autograph first, and then I waited for the person in front of me to finish getting Rocky's. John made me laugh when my mom got his autograph, because she had a shirt on her shoulder for him to sign and he was like "Do you want me to sign that?" and my mom was like "Yeah!", and he laughed and was like "Ok, I just didn't want to start signing it and have you be like "what are you doing?". So then I got Rocky's autograph, and he said that he liked my shirt. (I think John might've said that too, but I can't remember.) And then I got up to Amy and this was our little convo (Oh, and I never knew she was really so tiny! I'm pretty small, being only 5'0, and she's just a few inches taller.)
Amy: Hi, how are you?
Me: I'm good, how are you?
Amy: Good.
Then I handed her ToD to sign.
Amy: Oh, wow. I like your shirt.
Me: Thanks.
Then she handed me back ToD, and we just kinda stood there for like a second before I managed to get out "Can I hug you?" And she said sure. Then I got Terry's autograph, and he also complimented my shirt. Then I got Tim's, and he's a really nice guy. Then we waited around like Ritchie said, and sure enough, once pretty much everyone was gone, he called me over and I got take a picture with Amy. When I walked up to her she was like "I lost my sharpie". So then me and Amy took our picture together, which took a few minutes because Richie had my mom's cam, which was like, almost dead so when he tried to take our picture it didn't work, and I felt bad for holding Amy up, so I said I was sorry, and she was like "That's ok." Then my step-dad got my cam and took the pic.
