yep! i'm going to this one too!!! (milwaukee date as well)
i'll be there hours early to ensure i'll be as far in front as i can. i actually enjoy watching the show as much as i do listening to it. im wondering how early everyone else is going to be there...me anf myfriend are making a day out of it so we'rewaking up bright and early and we'll probably hang around the venue ...and start lining up whenevr we feel like it, or when we notice others lining up...haha

who else is going to this show?? is there any special way to recognze fellow evboarders?

I live in Kentucky, but well.... considering this is the closest of the small venues they're going to play at.... I am going to try and get tickets and drive up. I've been wanting to take a road trip anyways.

I just looked at the evanescence.com website and they said the chicago show was at Rivera Theater instead of Aragon Ballroom, any one know which it is, that would be one of the ones I'm going to and how would we be able to tell if anyone else from the board is there, I wish I could figure out how to get backstage, anyone have any ideas let me know please, SO EXCITED!!!!!

i'm pretty sure the Aragon is also called the Riviera theater. Just like The Eagles Ballroom (milwaukee) is mostly know as The Rave

Just a bit of a friendly warning...

I live in the suburbs of Chicago, but my family is all from the Chicago area or have lived there. Apparently that area is VERY full with gang-bangers and gangs. I wouldn't go there and stand there outside, by yourself, if you're going to be waiting there the night of the 16th. I've had some pretty close encounters with gangs thanks to my family and also some very close encounters with violent people of Chicago in the bad areas. So please, please be careful. I wouldn't want anybody getting hurt. I won't be there alone by any chance. I'll have at least two or three other people with me.

I'm just trying to warn you all about the area. It's scary at night when you have people drunk and screaming or have a gang staring at you. Just be careful, especially if you're a younger fan like me.

the aragon has a lot of public places around it...chicago is no worse than any other large city. yes it is smart to have someone else with you, but its not this horrible place you should be terrified of...i live 30 minutes away and i go there a few times a month for shows.
jus stay out of the 'projects' and dont make yourself look vulnerable (example: "do you know how to get to the aragon??") thats a no-no. take a cab. its not that expensive. i take the train down there then i get a taxi for any longer than-i-want-to-walk walks. chicago is a beautiful city.

thanks for the tips

and Ftw ...the night of the 16th?? damn dude. i dont wanna have to go that early...

i'll be at this show

p.s.
aragon: 1106 W Lawrence, Chicago, IL 60640
riviera: 4750 N Broadway, Chicago, IL 60640

i don't think they're the same place.

we'll have to trade pics and meet up! :)

another p.s. i'm a noob so if this post came up more than once i apologize

Hi there,

Verrrry new to this website - but so stoked about the band coming to Chicago (a little piece of darkness threading it's way back into my suburban existance)...

I have a question - and forgive my ignorance if I'm asking an obvious question...I see that there is a presale listed on Ticketmaster - and I know my wife has used this to get Queen tix - so does anyone know who has, or how to get the presale password?

THanx....The Dark One

so on ticketmaster.com it says they're playing the riviera theater. it says there, and on the official ev site. so i'm really not sure if they'r the same venues. according to gitsiemonster they have different addresses. who knows...i'm glad it will be in october because it wont me too hot, or too cold waiting ourside. how far in advance is anyone planning on waiting??

edit: if we order from online, willour tickets come in the mail? b/c i want to go by them at FYE (music store) in the mall...but im just gettin kinda scared its going to be sold outi would of course go that day to fye..but yea :-o.i doubt it though...anyone have an idea?

I just missed them the last time they came here, so I swore that I'd definitely go see them when they came back. I've been saving my first concert experience for Evanescence, and finally I'm going to get to see them live.

I'll be getting my ticket right as they go on sale. I've already got it all worked out, now I just need the tickets. I'm so excited for this, the band I've been following for three years now is coming back to Chicago. I wouldn't miss this for anything in the world.

Yeah. Well, I'm sure there WILL be people (like myself) going there WAYYY before hand. All my family is from Chicago or have lived there at some point of their life, especially my aunt, and I remember being terrified because of someone under a bridge that was drunk and throwing beer bottles at the police or a gang staring at me. Even now that freaks me out. But, yeah, as you said, don't make yourself look vulnerable.

i dont wanna have to go that early...

hehehehehe...well, I might be there that night, if not, very early in the morning. I just wanna get really close to the stage and this concert means so much to me :X Plus ya know. I'm a nutty fan.

:D

PS: Does anybody know if this place allows cameras or doesn't allow? i haven't been there before adn i'd like to know before hand. if they do allow cameras....well, look for the girl with, literally, a bag full of cameras and the name tag an0thercreation.

Traded_Worth
08-13-2006, 01:50 AM
they most likely do not allow cameras. most places don't for igger bands. i snuck a camera in to the last ev show i went to and one of my pics litterally has a secuirty guard with his hand up telling me 'no pictures' and you see amy all blurred int he background, haha its pretty funny.

and if i am somehow not in front ...i will make it there by the time ev's set is on.
here's a tip for you guys: just say "excuse me" like you're gettin to one of your friends in the front. hah. it works every time. and you can say im evil but i don't care

******okay and i ahe to ask again...if i pre order them off of ticketmaster.com,, will my tickets come in the mail? if someone could pease let me know before tomorrow night thay'd be awesome. i need to make a decision before they go on sale monday*****

Hells yea. I am going.

Tuesdays are my days of suckiness at school. I think I am gonna have to skip like that whole day. O wells. If you guys wanna bring a camera I suggest you bring a disposable one in case they don't let us have any. Then you wouldnt want to leave them there cause you won't wanna go back to your car and return them. I can't friggin wait for this.

2 months from Thursday!

I hope to see you all there.

i haven't figured out if there's a password or not. it said 10am CDT but they're not up yet. it's 11:38 my time (central)

well i guess they changed the presale date too along with the venue!!! it now says the presale is the 16th thru the 18th. still starting at 10am CDT on the 16th.

weird!!

augh why are they making us wait???

Ticket sales are always wacko for some reason. In any case, as soon as I hear I get buy tickets I'm running right to the website and getting mine. Waiting or not, I'll get tickets. I don't care where I am as long as I'm inside the place.

Someone should change the thread title because it is going to be at the Riviera.

Does anybody know if this is going to be an 18+ show or what? I hope it isn't because, well, *points to age indicator*.

sk8eralbabe
08-14-2006, 11:10 PM
Usually when a password is involved for getting tickets (this happened to me once) you have to be a member of something, such as a fan club, and/or a radio station is sponsoring the thing, and you get the password from them via e-mail after anwering a quiz question. Our station here has done it before.

MidnightWolf
08-15-2006, 12:54 PM
Presale?!?! Aghhh...
Since all of you must be in Chicago, Q101(the radiostation) has been saying that they might have tickets available to win. (They say it every time they play CMWYS). So, look out for that. But it is very confusing, because sometimes they say it's going to be at Aragon and others Rivera.
If I'm going to this, I'm going to skip school that day and be there ridiculously early.
I'll most likely have "MidnightWolf" written somewhere on me.
It'd be cool if we could meet up or something. Haha.
P.S. - Age limit? Why would Ev has a concert age limit? I sure hope there is no age limit, I'm under 18. Although I doubt there would be an age limit at an Evanescence concert. Although, if they do, people have mistaken me for an 18 year old before...

gitsiemonster
08-15-2006, 02:20 PM
if there was an age restriction it would be on the ticketmaster site.
there may not even be a password at this point i haven't heard or seen anything so who knows, i guess we'll find out tomorrow morning!

my best advice is just make sure you get tickets and if the venue changes or something at least you'll have tix they're usually good about honoring tix when/if they change venues.

i'm kind of excited!

i'm only torn about getting the ticketnow thing or getting the real ones in the mail!

Ayria

I thought so, I just wanted to double check before I bought my tickets to the show. My mom gets paranoid about some things and wouldn't let me buy them until I found out what the deal was.

Haha, I don't care how I get the tickets as long as I have them! It's Evanescence for god's sake, just let me in the building and I'll be happy.

i don't know where "aragon ballroom" appeared from but it's in the Riviera Theatre. Both places exist in chicago but according to ticketmaster and evanescence.com say riviera so that's where it is.

The theaters sale will most likely begin when ticketmaster's official sale begins (saturday at 10 AM central time). that'll be your best bet. you should call ahead of time to make sure though.

Well, I have a request for tickets "pending." It really sucks for me, because I have a bad back, so much that it affects my ability to stand without feeling like I might collapse, so I'm trying to request accessible seating. I couldn't possibly attend a show without it. I read a couple reviews online saying that the Riviera is very accommodating, which is good. I know I'll have to bring a letter from my doctor about my condition... I just hope they'll accept that, because I'm not confined to a wheelchair or anything. I can still walk and get places for the most part. **So much worry sometimes** I hope it can happen.

I can't wait. Nevermind the 7-hour drive, I'm stoked! If anyone has any knowledge of accessible seating policies (or any experience with it at this venue) please PM me.

Thanks

:::edit::: Ok, got approved. Just got the e-mail from Ticketmaster, and I sent them my credit card number. Now I'm excited!!

So I was looking online, and saw this review:

This giant 1920s-era hall boasts great acoustics and an impressive band lineup.
In Short
The main floor is spacious enough that you can enjoy bands without getting socked in the mosh pit. As with most venues, plan on getting hot and sweaty as soon as the action begins. Considering its size (capacity 2,300), the sound is generally excellent, with only a few weak spots. The Riv attracts top touring groups. Alternative-rock acts Bad Religion, Sonic Youth and Ministry have played here, as well as rockers like Billy Idol making comebacks.

You might have seats on the upper floor, but I thought all the pre-sale tickets were general admission. Hm, in any case mine are GA, which I think is a good thing. This way I can get right up in front of the stage, besides I'd be too excited to sit down through the concert anyways.

Anyway, I'm so there. I'm so VERY THERE it's almost ridiculous. I just don't have any money right now. I'm thinking about talking my mom into getting tickets for my boyfriend and I.

I think I'm gonna go with those nifty little nametags people are cooking up. My boyfriend and all the people I'm going with are gonna think I'm retarded, but I gotta show the EvBoard love. Who's with me?

It's Chicago hun, there are parking garages everywhere here. ;)

In any case, Ticketmaster has some information on where you can park. Seeing as it's two months away I haven't figured the parking situation out yet.

"Hun", I haven't been to Chicago in 15 years... and I'm driving up from Nowhere, Kentucky, population 2000. ;) I've read what Ticketmaster says. I've read what the Riviera website says. in response to the parking, there is a small amount of street parking in front of the riv, i know theres a lot of garages in the area depending on which you go to some are close (depending on your definition of close) maybe a couple blocks over and some of them can get up there in price, i saw one once thats $24 for the whole day and then theres some thats $12 for the whole day, if you're coming from not in the area let me know and ill get some streets and prices for you, no problem just PM me and let me know or you can do that pager thing, not all that sure what thats about but however you want to just let me know

I'm sure people will be there bright and early. I'd say just get there as soon as you're able to. Don't camp out or anything but if you've got nothing going on and don't mind waiting for a few hours then go ahead and get there at 10 am. I'll probably get there around 3 or so seeing as I've got to get a few people together before hand.

That's only for General Admission though. If you have a set row and seat up in the balcony you can show up ten minutes before the doors open and you'll still be in the same place.

Hm, I dunno what that is. In any case, I expect to be on the dance floor the large majority of the night. It's more fun when you get into it with the rest of the crowd then sitting and watching the show.

Kentucky? That reminds me of the show a couple years ago down here in Champaign. Me and my friend were hanging out by the busses and met a few other people, including a couple from further down south (can't remember which state it was), and were unprepared for how cold it gets in Illinois in Feb.

I think it's a tad too early the pick outfits yet - you don't know what the weather will be like.
I'm probably going to wear some sort of hoodie, maybe my hoodie with lacing down both sides, and then just some sort of baggy pants.
Maybe I'll wear my black and red "gothic roots" Ev hoodie, but i always think It's kinda cliche to wear the band merch to a concert.

My parents are just now starting to actually let me go, it took awhile to convince them. Does anybody know what that means?

Sorry, but that usually means they're sold out. You can go on other sites and talk to people here to see if you can get tickets. I believe one girl posted a few pages back that she had extras she was willing to sell to people. Good luck, and happy ticket hunting.

EDIT: Yep, sold out. Katya seems to have changed the thread title.

An acquaintance of mine was looking for tickets in Chicago when the Rave (in WI) announced a show because of the proximity. I should acted on that insight as well, but I hesitated too long. Besides not finding anyone interested in going, I prefer to hear the whole new album to see if still like the music. Moreover, I wonder how good a post-Moody concert is (I've only gone to pre-Moody ones.) Now in retrospect, considering how much I like Fallen and the EPs, I should have gotten them and just sold the tickets at worst case scenario.

Just curious, but does anyone have extras for sale? :)

And, of course, I do expect to read reviews here afterwards!

If you truly want those tickets take the expensive ones. Trust me, you won't be able to find them anywhere else for a cheaper price at this point. And the sites will take the highest bidder since they're sold out. If you find tickets grab them now or you won't be able to go to the show.

I'm sorry about this. Next time buy tickets as soon as you can even before you finish talking to people. I bought tickets for me and my friend before she even knew about the show and if she wasn't able to come I could ask other people and as a last resort sell my extra tickets.

I just bought my ev tickets. I just happened to go to ticketmaster.com today to look for them and freaked out cuz they were sold out. Then I started to frantically look for them everywhere and found them at a reasonable price on ebay. YAY!

I went to their concert in 2004 at the congress theatre and it was amazing. Since it was my first concert ever my friend kept pushing and pushing until she got me right up against the barrier, front and center. It was amazing being that close to the stage. I'm so excited I cant contain myself I think i'm gonna go run in the rain lol

Well, Yes they're sold out. I freaked out because I had been waiting for Evanescence to come to Chicago. I was actually crying (seriously, thats how much I love evvy! :) ) when my mom told me that her & my dad had already gotten tickets that were REALLY GOOD! And they weren't from ticketmaster it was from some dude my dad works with!
One of my teachers is going to. Weird huh? But she is the coolest teacher to probably exist!

Don't worry, If you havent gotten tickets yet ask around! You'll find em! :)

Well, I'm starting to worry. In order to keep my accessible seating I have to bring a statement from the doctor about my back condition and I've been calling her for a month, and her secretary keeps telling me "We only write excuses for school and work, but I'll ask her about it." And she never calls me back!

I am going over there on my lunch break to find out what's going on. It's an almost 8 hour drive! I can't take chances. I wish there was a way to call the Riviera and ask, and explain my circumstances. Anyone have the number? ;)

I will be so bummed if I can't go. There's no way I could wait in line standing. I'd be ready to collapse after less than 10 minutes.

But anyways... I assume if I have accessible seating that I won't have to get there early... but is it taboo to take like... a folding chair for the wait? (In case I have to.) Because if that's possible then I might be able to give it a try.

If I had to guess I'd say all the Fallen singles. At the very least they'll play Bring Me to Life (hells yeah!) and My Immortal. They'll no doubt use most of the time to play the new songs from The Open Door. I hope we hear an older song (Lies would be amazing to hear live) and a cover wouldn't be bad. Overall whatever decisions they make are sure to be good ones.

And if Amy decides to sing Hello live I will die from sheer happiness.

So from what I can see you are all planning on getting there about 10AMish on the actual date..

I'll be there before you guys, but um. yeah.

Try a night ahead of time.

PS;; I'll have a friend with me who isn't an evboarder. Dont' creep her out, please. But I'll have an evboard sign on me and a Snow White bear I'll be making at build-a-bear for her. That was my original idea. And giving it to her. (IF someone is by me during the concert and thinks it's a good idea to throw it on stage, and wants to help, that'd be great and I'd love you forever & ever & ever. Wanna know something even better? If you have great aim so it won't like, hit her in the head. If it does...duck. Quick.)

I'll probably bring all the poptarts, lunchables, and all other junk food I can find to fill me up & my friend, plus a LOT of Godivas, if I can..since...I need to have energy. And I deserve it after all my school work I've been doing. HAHA. So if anybody wants to share with me it's cool! I will share. My grandmother will probably sit with me & my friend in th ecar during the night & we'll get out there around 6am-ish. At least I will. So she'll take the food when we go in. ^_^

Okay, ttyl guys.

There's always the possibility that she will. Just because it hasn't happened yet doesn't mean it's never going to. I understand why it's too emotional, but with the fan requests for her to play it maybe one of these days she'll decide to add it to the playlist. *crosses fingers*

Argh, why aren't I in Chicago right now? >.<

Have fun you guys. I expect a detailed analysis report tomorrow morning, 8 AM sharp.

And Ayria, I'll be very dissapointed if you didn't seduce Amy into ninjahood. Very dissapointed indeed.

OK, so here it is 4:30 AM and I'm still wired from the concert and my drive home from Chicago, so I thought I'd tell you all about the awesome music the band made last night.

I left Dayton a little after 1 in the afternoon in the middle of a rainstorm, but by the time I got to Indiana the skies began to clear and it actually started to get warmer. No problems with traffic all the way to Chicago, even with all of the construction on the Dan Ryan. Once I got to the theatre, I drove around a bit to find a parking spot. One was open (!) only a block away on Magnolia.

It was only about 5 o'clock, but the line wrapped around the theatre up Lawrence Ave. Some people in line were at their Gothic best, really dressed to the nines. A few kind of looked like they could be in Rocky Horror. :) I was hungry, so I walked past the line and up Racine, and found a place called Agami. The decor and music there were very cool, and Chef K made sure I was well taken care of. A seaweed salad and a melt-in-your-mouth flounder, tuna and roe sashimi appetizer was followed by their "signature" sushi plate and topped off with mango mochi. I haven't eaten that well in a long time!

It was about 6:30 so I made my way back to the Riviera. The long line had made it in, so I was able to get through security and the gate pretty quickly. I was surprised that more people weren't close to the stage - a lot stayed back on the second and third tiers - so I was able to get within 15 or 20 feet of the stage right away. A few minutes later Revelation Theory took the stage and really rocked, though the crowd just kind of stood there. Little by little people started getting into the music, and by the time Rich Luzzi got everyone to sing "Wake Up!" with him the crowd was theirs. I think they won a lot of fans last night - they did me. They were also nice enough to thank Amy and Evanescence for letting them go on tour with them and boosting their careers. That's not something you see very often with opening acts, and I thought it showed a lot of class.

After a short intermisision Ev took the stage and the crowd went wild. Amy was dressed in a black tank top, silver chained and studded belt, and a black tutu with pink frills. Heck, I didn't even know she liked ballet! Or maybe it was a square dancing skirt. Hope she'll post on the Board and let us know. :) They opened with Sweet Surrender followed by (I think) Lacrymosa. Going Under got everyone up even more. After The Only One (I think), Amy slowed it down at her piano with Lithium and Good Enough. To me, Good Enough is one of the most soulful beautiful songs ever, even rivaling My Immortal. My guess is that some producer is going to make it a love theme for a movie, which it well deserves.

The band mixed up a few more songs from Fallen and Open Door. Amy came back out with her piano at the end for My Immortal, and capped it off with All That I'm Living For. The show was all done by 9:15, which was good for all the kids since it was a school night. I was a little surprised that there was no encore, but that was OK by me. Everything else more than made up for that, and I needed to get back on the road since I lose an hour going from Central to Eastern time. On the way out I bought a Revelation Theory CD and DVD from Rich Luzzi, who autographed the CD for me and dozens of others.

All in all, it was an excellent show. Nothing fancy, just great music at a great venue in a great city. It was well worth the trip up from Ohio. I'd do it again in a heartbeat.

OK, I need to catch a few winks before getting up to to work. Hope to see some more posts about the show later today!

Oops. Almost forgot to mention that Ev is going to be interviewed on Q101 in Chicago this morning. Just an FYI for those in the area.

We were front row on the balcony, which had an awesome view of the stage. Best seats in the house, in my opinion. I loved Revelation Theory. After they played, they came up into the balcony to meet some people sitting next to us. That was cool.

The whole night was awesome. And I'd never previously been to Chicago, but we had a blast. I regret now not taking my camera, but I didn't want to get it taken and risk not getting it back. We would have had awesome pictures if I had taken it.

I didn't see anyone with tags. Although I didn't really look too hard. But we arrived at like 6:00 and everyone was probably already inside. I can't wait to see everyone's pictures!

Let me tell you the story of my day.

Well, I woke later than I wanted for, for starters. I wanted to try really hard to meet the band [which I didn't, by the way, so somebody has to tell me how to do that for next time], so I wanted to wake up around nine-ish, and ended up getting up around eleven. SUXZOR. I had a shitload of stuff to do before we left, and I ended up doing half of it because we were pressed for time.

Went to my mom's to duct tape my nametag to my hoodie - I DIDN'T SEE ANYONE WITH THE NAMETAGS, BY THE WAY. Which doesn't mean people didn't wear them, but I got to the venue late and I didn't see anybody. SO.

My boyfriend and I stopped at BK to get eats and then we decided it would be a good idea to NOT DRIVE TO CHICAGO, so we took the train, which left at 3:20, much later than I wanted it to. An hour on the train landed us at Union Station, where Phil [my lovely, SHITEATING CHEAPSKATE boyfriend] decided that instead of taking a cab to venue, he wanted to take the Red Line. Which is okay, except we were walking around Chicago for A HALF HOUR looking for a Red Line station. ARGH. "Babe, please, let's just take a cab. BABE, PLEASE. BABEPLEASEICAN'TWALKANYMOREPLEASEPLEASE." That's basically how I sounded in the ears of my boyfriend.

So, we finally find a Red Line, and took that to Wilson where we promptly walked up the street to the venue. Phil got in rather quick, but he had shucked off his huge green army bag on me so I had to get that searched before I got in. Now, this is around six-ish, which pissed me off because I really, really wanted to get there a little early to gaurntee decent seats.

Turns out, it didn't matter, because when we got in there, the pit was pretty clear. Sweet, says I. Phil and I got some time so we run around the venue like kids in an Evanescence-shaped candy store, running all over the levels, just generally checking the place out. It was really cool looking, very old and just generally pretty and very intimate. So we get back down to pit before Revelation Theory hit the stage, and I was jamming to them. They were cool, but not like OMFGREVELATIONTHEORYOWNSME good. A lot of their songs sounded alike in my opinion, and the bassist was an attention whore. But they were okay.

Now, I HATE WAITING. For anything, ever. So when I had to wait a half hour between Revelation Theory and Ev, I was annoyed. I'd been walking around Chicago all day, mind you, and I was tired, my legs hurt, and I was working with four hours of sleep and half a very soggy Burger Kind burger in my system. I generally, was not a happy camper with the having to wait. Not that it wasn't worth it, or anything...

So when Ev finally hit the stage, I turn to my boyfriend who somehow got stuck a little ways behind me and said, "FUCKING FINALLY!" The chick who was behind me, who I have deemed the Boa Bitch because she was wearing a PINK FEATHER BOA, decided it would be pertinent to SLAP ME IN THE BACK OF THE HEAD. I ignored it, but when I really started to get into the music, thrashing and banging and generally acting like a dork, she tried to push me away from her. Maybe not to damage her precious boa, or something. So I kept stepping back, because her arm was throwing me off balance and into these really nice fifteen-year-old girls I was talking to before the show. Finally, she shoved me pretty hard and I just elbowed her in the gut. I don't have patience with fucktards, kthnx.

Then there was the French Shithead People. Seriously, there were a bunch of French people at a show in Chicago. I dunno. Anyway, they kept sending the SAME GUY back and forth to the bar for drinks and it was getting REALLY FUCKING INAPPROPRIATE and it was pissing everybody off because on top of that, these people were just being assholes to everybody around them. I mean, dude. This song? It's Lithium. Shut up and forget your vodka for three minutes, please.

Also, before the show some girl evidently passed out, and DUDE. There was a fight in the pit, between one of the French Shithead People and some dude who wouldn't take their shit anymore. Apparently [my boyfriend watched the whole thing because he was like, two people away], one of the French guys did something and it started all verbally, and finally the French guy punched the other dude and they were like, ON THE GROUND beating the shit out of eachother. Guess to which song? MY FUCKING IMMORTAL. Seriously. If that's not inappropriate, I dunno what is. BUT IT WAS AWESOME.

So, I met a couple of giggly fifteen-year-olds before the show who were really cool, and two younger girls with their dad who was this really tall biker dude and he was generally the badass guy. I love meeting nice people at concerts.

Anyway, but the show itself was AWESOME. Seriously. I was kinda in a bad spot, because if Amy went to far to the left I couldn't see her at all, but the music and the atomosphere and everything was just AWESOME. Best show ever, seriously.

Done ranting now.

I really enjoyed the John interview. It's nice to see someone else doing an interview other than Amy. :)
