I used to live in Hong Kong for 4 years in the early 1990s...it's a very busy place and the people are always rushing about all the time...I don't really remember much about it because i was a little kid at the time, but I remember that shopping was always fun, lol.

What part do you come from, mignonette? I remember I lived in an apartment called Oakland Heights or something along those lines, near Happy Valley (what a name, eh?).

Yeah, HK rocked! I saw the vid for BMTL the first day I was there. The only setback is that it's soooooo humid. :(

I haven't visit this side of the board before... it's so quiet lol.

I was from HK and moved to Australia when I was 5. So I know the language of writing at a pre-school level and I can speak cantonese well. I returned to HK 2 yr ago for a holiday and to visit my relatives and I gotta say the city is awsome! Never have I been to a place so crowded and alive almost 24/7 with neon lights and people.

The climate isnt really for me, it's too humid and polluted, but it's a wonderful place to shop and have a good time!

Hey everyone, sorry for topping this as it's almost a year old now but I just came across it. I've registered my account a few months back but it's only now I'm reading some posts.

I'm from Hong Kong and have lived here pretty much all my life, and I can speak Cantonese... I don't know of any other Evanescence fans here and most people I know think they suck, but they're awesome.

I bought Fallen in March of this year and have fallen in love with it since, it's probably the most-listened-to CD for me. My favorites are Going Under, Bring Me to Life and Whisper.

And yes, it sucks that Hong Kong is so humid, it gets freaking hot in the summer and in the fall it's only slightly better.

Evanescence kicks butt.

I'm from Hong Kong and have lived here pretty much all my life. Evanescence is my favorite band and has been for at least half a year now as I admit I was a little late to lose my Evvy virginity :p.

I heard of Evanescence before but never listened to any of their songs but one day decided to check them out. I got Fallen in March of this year and have loved them since... I remember when I bought it I listened to it every single day to every track multiple times and now I still do that occasionally. That brought me into all the Evanescence obsession and I listened to songs from Origin and their EPs and wow were they awesome. My favorite track from Origin has gotta be Lies, if only the guy (Ben?) whispering could speak louder so his words are more audible. My favorite track to start with on Fallen was Bring Me to Life and I didn't understand how people could like Going Under as I thought it was just a load of noise, but after I while I suddenly liked it and now it's also one of my favorite songs. Whisper is also cool since I love the heavy rock sound in it, and Missing is great (not from Fallen).

Most people I know don't like Evanescence or are neutral... it's good to know some people who are here or have been here like them too, because personally I think they kick ass. The majority of people here like standard alternative rock and piano/violin sounds don't click with them apparently because it's not as cool or something, unfortunately.

Anyone else here from Hong Kong?

I come from Hong Kong too. Of course i think this city is great as i have been living here since i was born.
I also think that local music is very crap. Many teen singers can't sing, they just want to be fame and earn money. This atmosphere is very bad. I know some people from my school love Evanescence because of their COOL/ROCK image but not their music. When you ask them why they like their music, they can only give you answers like 'the music is cool/rock'.
But i'm sure that most Evanescence's fans aren't like that, right? We really appreciate their music and the way Amy Lee sing.

Hopefully not.

I like both their heavy and soft songs. From Going Under and Whisper to My Immortal and Hello. They're all just so good and well-made.

Local artists here really are crap for the most part. I haven't heard one song that I've liked and they sound all so... similar. Rock is almost non-existant for many locals.

I come from Hong Kong originally, I am chinese and know cantonese. I like it there but I think it's just a little bit crowded and quite a lot of pollution. But I love the beauty of some parts.
