How many of you like this band? They are signed to Wind Up, They whoop ass and they're a good band, I hope I get to see them on the Nintendo Fusion tour with Ev. I am going to buy their new CD next week.

ROCK ON!

I've heard that one song a couple of times, it's on the Going Under/BMTL DVD. It's much better than Cauterize. I wish I was seeing Finger Eleven but I think they're only on the second half of the tour. :(

Another Canadian band that I'm happy is getting some recognition south of the border. I've liked their stuff for a couple years now, and have two of their CDs: The Greyest of Blue Skies and their new self-titled CD.

My personal fave songs by them are "Famous", "Stay and Drown", and "Thousand Mile Wish". I also quite like the new single "Good Times".

If Ev comes here it would be an even MORE amazing show if Finger Eleven came along with them... perhaps F11's being Canadian will help convince that tour to cross the border... please???

I'm sorry but Finger Eleven is not a Small/Indie band.. HELL they have 3 cd's out and if you count the one from Rainbow butt Monkeys they have 4 out! So ya.. I'm a huge fan, but I don't think they need to be on this board.

I say lets keep it...I for one didn't know about them until recently.

We renamed the forum to stay away from "BIG" bands that needed no publicity...finger 11 may be headed there but certainly dont have that much exposure

I didn't lock this to see what other people thought of them.. Seeing as it looks like most of the people don't know who they are let's keep this open.. In other news.. Finger Eleven will be joining the Nintendo Fusion Tour later on next month!

At first it puzzled me a BIT to see this thread here, as I've known about them quite a lot, and it was through radio/TV that I found out about them. HOWEVER... a lot of that is due to CanCon (short for Canadian Content) regulations up here, where TV and radio stations are required to play a certain percentage (not sure of the number) of songs by Canadian artists.

I'm always curious to see how much recognition a band like this gets south of the border, and around the world. That's why I think this thread should stick around.

Finger Eleven are an awesome, awesome group. I'm loving "Good Times" and the other new material I've heard, but I also adore the stuff from [i]The Greyest of Blue Skies. There isn't an F11 song I don't like, but some personal favourites of mine are "Bones & Joints", "First Time", "Sick Of It All" and "Famous".

You have no idea how much ass it would kick if they came up here with Ev! :D They'd definitely make their home country proud. And plus...they toured with Ozzy, that's beyond ace. hahaha.

Yeah, I've liked Finger Eleven for quite a while to. My first cd by them was "The Greyest Of Blue Skies" (my favorite F11 cd) and I really enjoyed it, so then I bought "Tip" and then recently got "Finger Eleven" when it came out. I really like their new album, but I hate the packaging that it came in...I just like jewel cases. But anyways, my 6 favorite songs from each album are...

"TIP"
Quicksand
Shudder
Awake & Dreaming
Above
Glimpse
Costume For A Gutterball

"THE GREYEST OF BLUE SKIES"
First Time
Sick Of It All
For The Ocean
Broken Words
Famous
Stay And Drown

"FINGER ELEVEN"
Other Light
Stay In Shadow
Absent Elements
Thousand Mile Wish
Panic Attack
Therapy

Not mainstream? What kind of crack have you been smoking? I see their videos on Much all the time. Based on that fact, they're very well established, if you ask me.

But isn't that largely due to Canadian Content regulations? A Canadian band is a lot more likely to get radio and video airplay on a Canadian station than in the US or wherever. I can't truly say how much airplay they get outside of this country, but I would guess that it wouldn't be nearly as much as it is here. Could be wrong though. I only know what I see from this side.

I'm not big on the different CD packaging either... give me a regular ol jewel case any day, OR have two versions of it, one jewel case and one with the other one. Not that it matters all THAT much.

*still hoping this band tours up here with Evanescence*

AAAAAAAND... methinks I should pick up Tip. Soon.

Bumping my own bump... whatever.

Lost in the fact that I'm seeing Evanescence in Seattle soon is the fact that I'm seeing Finger Eleven TWICE, three days apart. Those people who have seen F11 with Evanescence... what did you think?? *of course, most people, including myself, are likely much more interested in seeing Evanescence than Finger Eleven, but I'm sure they put on quite a good show. I'm hoping so at least. *

Oh I know! You were at the Milwaukee show, right? That one guitarist is INSANE! I've never seen anyone move like that at a concert, and most of my friends are in hardcore punk bands.

Lost in the excitement over the AMAZING Evanescence show last night in Seattle was the fact Finger Eleven put on a great show themselves. If I recall, their set list was "Above", "Absent Elements", "First Time", "Complicated Questions", "One Thing" (w/ Amy on backing vocals :D ), "Obvious Heart", and they finished with "Good Times". (I may have messed up the order a bit... i'm not sure)

The guitarist is a freak. So insane... but great fun to watch.

I get to see them again back north of the border on Wednesday. I'm quite excited about that.

I was hoping to see them in concert at the St.Louis show, but they didn't play. I've heard good things about them and was excited to hear what they sound like. :( It was Cauterize instead, and I didn't really like them very much.

Anyone near any of the following Canadian cities... I highly recommend checking them out. I've seen this band twice in a four day period (Seattle on Sunday, Abbotsford last night), and quite enjoyed it muchly both times (although Amy is not singing on this tour :( haha)

9/25/2003 Macewan Hall Calgary AB
9/27/2003 Red's Edmonton AB
9/28/2003 Praireland Ex Saskatoon SK
9/29/2003 Colosseum Winnipeg MB
9/30/2003 Warp 9 Club Thunder Bay ON
10/2/2003 Club Denim Guelph ON
10/3/2003 Wheels Roller Rink Windsor ON
10/4/2003 Front 54 Thorold ON

Good on them for getting a few Canadian dates in there, before heading to Europe with Evanescence.

After last night's show, I also decided that I *really* need Tip.

Colin
11-11-2003, 04:54 AM
Hmmm. Maybe no one thinks of this band as indie/small (I don't personally, but my perspective is different being that they're Canadian and our bands get a LOT of radio play up here), but I'm surprised there's not more stuff in this thread, considering they ARE touring with Evanescence.

Anyway... I finally bought Tip (actually I bought it the day after I made that last post). Great CD... and for some reason I can't pick any one of the three CDs over the others. I think they're all equally good.

I think "Awake & Dreaming" & "Costume for a Gutterball" are my two faves off that CD, and were both quite memorable live. Unfortunately for those seeing them with Ev, you'll probably miss out on most of the older songs, but I think the new ones are just as good... and if you're lucky enough to hear Amy sing on "One Thing", then... I am eternally jealous.

I didn't get the chance to see Finger Eleven in concert at the nintendo fusion show. But that's alright cause Cauterize rocked my face off! Their show was so energized. But I bought the Finger Eleven cd now. I'd have to say Good Times is my favorite song. One Thing is a great one too but not my favorite.

First time I heard Finger Eleven it was a late night rock show (the same I first knowingly heard evanescence on) where they said this is Finger Eleven with Good Times who are supporting evanescence on tour. I liked it. Saw them at the ev concert, liked it even more, went and bought the album, really, really like it. So now I'm on a hunt for the previous albums :D

I saw them 3 times already :) First time they were headlining with Breach Of trust, and Slurpymundae(now Idle Sons) That show was awesome! They played a small venue, with about 250-300 fans, but real F11 fans. Everyone was singing along and having a lot of fun. They played almost every song from the first 2 cds, the only song they didn't play was Walking in my shoes!

Second was with Our Lady Peace. They mostly played songs from the third cd, but it wasn't release yet :( So I couldn't sing along.

Last time I saw them was now long ago with Evanescence!! A good performance, at least I knew all the songs again :)

Anyways, the songs I love the most are Drag you down, My Carousel, Famous, One Thing and Thousand Miles Wish. Hopefully I get to see them headlining again, but probably not before the next album :(

They were my fav band until EV came out! i have also seen them 3 times!!!! they are such a great band! I started listening to them several years ago just before grayest of blue skies (in my opinion, their best cd) came out!

The first time I saw them in concert was when they were headline and drowning pool and boy its car opened for them!!! It was by far the best non-ev show I have been to. It was crazy! it was before drowning pool and boy hits car became big! The cool part was that the place was only a quarter full, and the members of drowning pool came out into the crowd! it was insane! So much fun! It was the most personalized concert I have ever been to. It felt like they were playing for me.

The cool thing about finger eleven is how each member has a distinct personality, and how there methods of playing are so different, yet they play so perfect and mesh so well.

I could write for hours on them so ill stop now!

I've seen Finger Eleven quite a few times already...once back in 1998 w/ Creed and then 4 times with Evanescence. The first time I saw them, I really didn't like them. When I saw them this year I really didn't think they were all that great (I enjoyed Revis & Seether more) but they weren't as bad as I had remembered. One Thing & Good Times are kinda catchy songs though....

I saw them 3 days after they finished the Fusion tour with Evanescence, and they were on their own tour with a couple smaller local acts. They played quite a wide variety of their songs, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Then again... I've got all three CDs and have always enjoyed their stuff. Some people don't as much, and that's fine. All a matter of taste.

AOIUdioasudioasu FINGER ELEVEN!!

I LOVEEEEEEEEE them..

Actually, I saw them for the fourth time recently - they played at my university (for 10 dollars) and it was a small concert, 1800 people.. so I was right up frnt and I was like, "AHHH RICK! AHH SHAWN! AHH SCOTT! AHH RICH! AHH JAMES!" and being all crazy.. what a good concert. I ended up not meeting, but getting a ride home with Shawn's cousin.. who turns out to have a sister who I went to school with in grades 1 and 2.

They are so good. I really love their older stuff too.

From a Hot AC Associate Program Director/Music Director in Denver, Colorado.

FINGER ELEVEN/One Thing - This is the most reactive record we've put on the air since "My Immortal", and last time I checked I was still powering that. This record will probably be a power by the time we hang up the phone! - KALC/DENVER APD/MD KOZMAN

I had to put that here 1. because of One Thing and 2. the other song that he plugged.

Powering basically means playing the song depending on the station anyway every 60-90 minutes.

They may be on a major label, but they're not really on the same level success wise, so they are a small band.

I am digging their new single Stay in Shadow. The album version and the radio edit sound slightly different. Well, maybe that's just me.

I love finger eleven (I haven't heard the new album, but I wasn't impressed with "one thing" or any of the clips I heard on their website, I won't call it bad though since I haven't listened to it). tip and greyest of blue skies are two of my "sing along albumbs" (which you could maybe say are my favorite albums). I've never seen them in concert (I was going to go to the latest sno core tour, but when it came around I just sort of forgot about it), but maybe I'll catch them someday, I imagine they'd be pretty good live.

Pretty much the coolest thing ever happened to me yesterday. F11 was in town playing at Capital which is a medium-sized venue/club.. their bus was right across the street. I woke up early and went downdown to try and meet them, and sat across from the bus. After an hour Scott came out but I was too afraid to say anything and he walked by me to the stage door. That's when the roadies/managers noticed me and joked with me about waiting..Scott came back out and signed/pictured for me, and then I asked him about touring Europe with Ev, which he said was greaet. Then the first opening band started talking to me, they are called Circuit, and they invited me inside the venue.. everyone was setting up, it was aesome.. then they asked if I wanted to be on their guest list, which was great, because it meant i got to see the concert for free and i hadn't bought a ticket yet. I went back outside for a bit and Shawn came down the street with his wife and baby girl Grace.. soooo cute. He pictured and signed for me, and then I went back to waiting across the street. Soon Rich came out to start his soundcheck, and he signed/pictured... by this time I'd been waiting about four hours.. then Circuit was like, "come inside to hear F11's soundcheck!" so everyone went in and I go to hear half of their soundcheck until security was like, Your not supposed to be here, leave. I went back outside and around the building and got James on his way out, and he signed, and I asked for a picture and he complied and just before the flash went off Rick jumped into the picture too, and then signed for me. So I met all of Finger Eleven, and I got to see their soundcheck, and hteir concert... amazing pictures, it was a great time!!!

Out here in Phoenix, "One Thing" is overplayed. I'm talking once every half-hour. I like the song, but I just wish it wasn't played that much.

I also like "Drag You Down", "Good Times" and "Slow Chemical" (which is not only Kane's WWE entrance music, but is also on the "Punisher" soundtrack.)

I LOVE Slow Chemical. Thus far it's the only FingerEleven track I've heard, but I'm thinking of grabbing their cd sometime soon. If I hadn't made it late to the Perth (Western Australia) Ev concert due to picking up a friend then I coulda seen em before.. curses. I also like Finger Eleven. They've become my third favorite band, right behind Evanescence and Seether. The strange part is that even though I've liked them, I haven't really listened to their new cd until just recently, since I saw them live for the first time at Stage 13. Ever since, their new cd has found a regular spot in my cd player. "Good Times", "Other Light", "Complicated Questions", "Absent Elements", "One Thing", and "Obvious Heart" are my fav songs off the cd. I'm thinking about buying their other cd, the one with "Drag You Down" on it. I really like that song also.

Well, I'd recommend "One Thing" for a start, to everyone here. But, then their other songs I've heard don't sound anything like it, so I guess it was a one-off, or an experimental bit of writing for them. Anywho, their other stuff is okay... "Drag You Down" is probably one of their better songs, too.

so, I just ordered a ticket to see them at Irving Plaza in November (the 2nd, I think). I was wondering if anyone else from these parts is planning to go...or am I going to the show completely alone? Somebody come to the show! :)

I saw them when they played at the Iowa State Fair w/Puddle of Mudd and Nickelback. They were awesome live, in my opinion. I don't have their CD yet, but I really liked their songs. Their energy was incredible, especially the guitarists- one in particular was doing some crazy things with his guitar.

I'm Baaaack! Pics from tonight's concert in WPF, FL.

Interesting band to say the least. Lead singer comes out w/a sports coat on (looks more like he's headed to a business meeting) & begins screaming out the top of his lungs with not much bosdy movement.

Good sounds though. Look out for my pics Good Charlotte posting w/pics tonight.
