View Full Version : Question About Rep Points

Princess Mary

Just curious, when we rep someone, we cannot rep them again for a certain period of time.

How long do we have to wait to rep the same person again? Or does it go by how many people you rep? Do I have to rep, say, 10 more people before I can rep someone for a second time?

I've noticed that I have reps from people who gave me reps just days before, so I don't know if we have to wait a day or so, or just rep a certain number of people...

I am not sure about that, but here what was said.

if I guessing i think it like a day.

You have to rep a certain amount of people before you can rep the same person again; there's no time limit as far as that goes. But I also think you can only rep a certain amount of people in one day (it should say when and if you reach this limit).

Hmm...okay - any idea on how many people must be repped before we can rep the same person again?

You must rep 5 people, before repping the same one again ;)

Now I have a question. I have five rep points, howcome it's only showing three?

That isn't supposed to show a green dot for every rep point you've gained; they all stand for an amount of reputation that you've received. I have wayyy more than mine shows, but it only will show some at a time. Patience, young grasshoppa!

I think you have to be have four reps before you get another green dot...does that sound about right? I don't know how many neg reps you need before you lose a green dot - I think only one...

Yep, but before you get all those dots, it's about four reps for one dot.

Where is top rep, Shiver?:)

Oh, thank you!!!:)

Okay, how many neg reps are needed before you lose a green dot? I wonder because there is a certain someone here who has gotten a number of them andthey still have green dots! *wants to see some red*

Is it different for newbies do you know?

EDIT: *is confused* I thought I'd be able to see who has received the most reps, instead I just see lots of green dots...oh wait, I get it now!!! It's not the number of reps, it's just the order of who has the most.

*tries hard to focus on typing fluently*

I think, it depends entirely upon how much rep a person has that is giving the reps. Soooo there's no set amount of how many neg reps one would receive before losing green dots. I think.

What happens when you steal reputation? Does someone lose green dots or something?

Julieann
01-10-2008, 12:02 AM
If you steal often enough, you could conceivably lose green dots. You know when you go into your User CP and it says (over on the right hand side just above when and from whom you've been repped) "You have [insert number here] reputation points"? You lose a couple of those every time you attempt a Thief, whether you're successful or not. So if you did it enough, you'd probably start losing green dots.

well i dont think stealing would cause green dots to be lost from the victim just the points. as you dont lose your green dots when you spend you points. but it would be some sort of weird justice if the theif lost theirs.

You're still a thief. Thieeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeef. I should've known that ninja blood of yours would pop it's head up sooner or later. I suppose I can gain the points back, it just means I have to return the favor in some form.

Currently, I'm saving up points for a massive handout of gifts to some active members of the board. I just have to finish deciding who's getting what. After that, I may flew my vbPlaza powahs...

They're talking about two different types of stealing. Stealing points (where the victim loses the points and the thief loses a small amount of reputation) and stealing reputation (where the victim would lose points and the theif would gain them, but it costs quite a bit of money).

EDIT: Also, I'm fairly sure that the reputation of both the victim and thief are taken into account, as well as the amount of points to steal, when it comes to the probability of success. It's much harder to steal from someone with more reputation than you, and the chances of success are less if the amount to steal is high.

yeah, I was just testing it to see what the success rate was, lol.

P.S. There seems to be a very high success rate when one steals from SnowWhite. :D

Thank you Vince. You'd probably know all of this yourself if you weren't so busy chasing tails. ;)

I know that repping someone gives you one point, but does the person who was repped gain any points?
As far as I know, no one gets reputation for giving it. And when you are repped, you don't necessarily get one reputation point. The higher the reputation of the giver, the more reputation they hand out.

When you steal, it says 'thief from ____.' When they steal, it's 'thief to ___.' And even though it's logged, you have to check under the listing to see whether the thief was successful or not. If you click into vbPlaza menu, the top list is a log of everything that has been done to or by your account. That's how I found Julieann's indiscretion, as well as the other person's. *wrinkles nose*

It costs tons of "money" to steal reputation points, and you only gain about 5 measly points per transaction. That wouldn't work even if she needed it to!
