it looks like noone knows the third round started... I wanted to enter one of these rounds so bad but now that I've seen how talented people here are, I think I'll pass :) good luck to everyone who enters this round, can't wait to hear you guys again, now hurry up you only have 10 days left....

Don't be a wuss because your "scared" of the people who already entered. I proudly decalre that I suck and I still entered the first round! And the sad thing is I'm even in a cover band ;)

Who cares if some sound professional, enter anyway! This is supposed to be fun, and it's more fun when there are more people who enter!!

I know I know... but what can I do, it's just the way I am... everyone tells me I can sing but I don't think so... I don't know I might look some of these songs up and enter anyway...we'll see :)

Come on, I was ass last week. I sang the craptastic version of Missing, and people still voted for me! Besides, its so much fun and people are really nice about it. And if people give you constructive critisism, then you can use that to your advantage and send another song in the following week. Its really a blast! ;)

How exactly do you do this? all i know is how to record myself on my webcam that has a mic

You can record yourself any way possible, whether it be through a webcam or through a real microphone. I'd suggest downloading Audacity, which you can find here:

Audacity will let you brush up what you record. For example, if you record yourself on your webcam and rip the audio, but find you've got a few seconds of silence or backround noise (as is common in college, where I live) you can edit that out of your entry. You can also use Audacity as a recording device itself, if you've got a plug-in mic. Its not the best recording program, but its better than nothing.

As for using your webcam, the best advice I can give you is to rip the audio and email the mp3 to isaymeow. She's left an email address and her website archive at the beginning of the thread. If you're unsure of how to rip audio, you can do it easily, if it takes a wee bit longer than usual. What I do, because I'm technologically impaired, is upload the video to YouTube. As soon as I have a video address to work with, I take the whole thing to http://www.vixy.net and choose the mp3 only option from the pulldown. Then I wait for the video to transfer, and I download the mp3 version.

This is where Audacity can come in handy, because sometimes vixy is a bit tempramental and will add a half an hour of silence to the end of a song. But as soon as you upload it into Audacity, problem solved. You can edit it as you like, then export it to an mp3, and email it to isaymeow.

Side notes...

File Conversion:
Since I get asked this a lot, Yes I can convert WMA and WAV Files to MP3's for the challenges, I don't mind that at all. So If you can only rip your audio to those two file types I can take care of the conversion with no problems.

Where to Get tracks:
I get my tracks from either Karaoke CD's I own or I purchase them through iTunes. I only order the iTunes Plus files which are "drm free" so that I can convert the tracks into MP3's. So if your looking for a specific track, check there! Also you can get them by other means, but I am not here to encourage that ;)

I wanted to do this but for some freaking reason, the program won't work on my new laptop. go figure. and I'm sick again. ugh it sucks. But best of luck to everyone else.

Maybe we're all just getting too into Hockey Playoffs (GO PENS!)? Or Finals in college? Or we're all just still sick with the evil cold that seems to never go away. If people need another week they need to let me know! I'm wiling ot extend to find out that three more want to enter.

I totally know how you feel, This stupid cold just will not go away. it just keeps coming back. I think it's the plague. My cover band wanted to do a paramore song for the break (where the male singer takes a breather). i told them that I refused to turn my favorite paramore song into a high-pitched nasel-fest rendition. Needless to say we went vocal-less during rehearsal!

so you record yours by camera? i could probably do that as my camera has a video recorder as part of it and therefore masacre your ears. I am still not sure how that would work exactly. but it might be worth a shot

Yeah, I record mine on the video recorder of my digital camera, upload it, and rip the audio...the sound quality sucks more when I do this than when I just take normal videos, but it works. *shrugs*

I was offline due to emergency surgery and an infection that landed me in the hospital. I'm ok now after the scare of a lifetime! Sorry to dissapear like that!
