You guys need to take a listen to this band. I have a buddy in Florida who says these guys smoke live.

http://www.shinedown.com

They kinda fly in the vein of Revis, Cold, and Saliva...maybe a little bit harder edged.

I will post a link to a song as soon as I can get it hosted.

I knew I had heard "Fly from the inside" before, but never knew who sang it. My local station had that song as the number 1 song on their countdown tonight, so thats how I found out about this. This band really does kick @$$ from what i've heard so far

Their radio song starts with a clean guitar riff ripped from Creed. I cou;dn't tell if they were trying to be Creed, Alice in Chains, or Bush from that song, quite frankly.

Ripped from Creed? You must be kidding. The most comparison I got from them was the vocalist had that metal band scream. And I'm still trying to figure out which Creed song they *supposedly stole* that riff from...

OMG !! i've been WONDERING what band does that song. I LOVE that song! as for ripping from creed... i can't say what creed song they could have stolen that from.
and i used to be a HUMONGOUS creed fan *coughit'struecough*

Shinedown rocks!
I saw them in Pensacola Florida last year, got the Brent's autograph (singer)...big fan!
They opened for Seether and (ACK!) 3 Doors Down.
Shinedown and Seether spanked ass, no comment on the headliner.
No, I have to admit, 3 Doors Down put on a good show...
There, I said it.

RRRRRRRRRRRR! I bought that cd a few weeks ago and I was pretty bent out of shape that 'Simple Man' wasn't on there. CRAPTACULAR! I get to spend some more money! I'm just too impatient I guess. :(

I had just barely bought their CD (at the same time as I bought Nightwish-Oceanborn, coincidentally) when my brother stole it away and coveted it for several monthes. I only got it back recently because 6 Tool CDs came in the mail and he addicted himself to those. However, shortly after he stole the CD from me, he looked them up on internet and a week later we found ourselves at a concert of theirs. I must say, Shinedown positively ROCK live. There's a lot of energy at one of their shows. I had a wonderful time and nearly broke my neck from headbanging and moshing. Just to let you know that their shows are dangerous :p . I recommend Shinedown strongly, they're one of the few bands I've seen live twice.

I bought this album blind a little while back (hadn't heard anything by or about them, did the same with Velvet Revolver, always good results). Anyways, yea, the WHOLE ALBUM is awesome! I'd love to her Amy sing with this guy, now THAT would sound great. Shinedown is gonna be in Charleston with Alter-bridge a little later this month, and I'm POSSESSED to go down and see them (especially after I completely lost my ticket for the greatest show of the year...Eva, Seether, 3 Days Grace and Breakin Benjamin in Charlotte...wanted to die when I missed)

You know what I find awesome about Shinedown? Last time I went to one of their concerts, Brent was walking up and down the street in broad daylight before the show and most of the people didn't recognize him. Even me :o . I find it totally awesome that they're still small enough to walk around in public (especially around so many fans) and not get the shit bugged out of them by fans.

Heeheehee, I thought that was so ironic, though. I see this guy with the most awesome hair EVER walk down the street, oggle at him all of the 4 or 5 times he does it, and later see him on stage singing like a rock god :) . I was so pissed at myself for not knowing it was HIS long black and red hair... *sigh* so hot. I loved that he had that freedom, though. I pondered it for weeks and decided he had to be one of the coolest rockers I've seen live :p .

I must say that I absolutely love this band. They are amaing. I've heard them do acoustic versions of their songs on local radio stations here and let me say, Brent can sing. Their CD is kick ass, so if you don't own it, go get it. It's worth every penny. Their cover of Simple Man is out of this world. Especially since they did a full band version. :)

If you live in NYC, they're not really big because K-Rock NY, an alternative station, isn't feeling the sound. They're more into Modest Mouse, Franz Ferdinand, and The Killers now.

Active Rock stations, which have a heavier sound in general are a perfect fit for Shinedown. The biggest markets with an Active Rock station are Chicago, Philly and Boston.

Yea, I heard they're not as big in the North as they are in the South. Some of the stations in Myrtle Beach and Charleston are big supporters of Shinedown. I will also add that now that I've seen the show...Shinedown has to be the best performing rock band on the scene right now. They're almost done with their tour for their debut album which they've already toured for 21 months for and they'll be finishing the tour late Feb, early Mar.

The new album is awesome! It sounds somewhat different from Leave a Whisper, but if you listen, it still sounds somewhat like it. Heroes is a Soundgarden-esque song. Save Me, the first single, is a pretty catchy song. My favorites right now are Save Me, Yer Majesty, Trade Yourself In, and Begin Again.

If you get the Limited Edition, you get acoustic versions of Save Me, I Dare You, and Some Day, a 40-page booklet, an album cover poster, stickers, and access to the Ultimate 90 day Album Release Experience (http://usandthem.shinedown.com).

there are three different versions of 'Leave A Whisper.' There is the first press, second press has the unofficial video that the band shot of 'Fly From The Inside' on it which is different from the one that is on there website, and the third version has what's referred to as the 'sanford sessions' which are basically remixed versions of a few tracks, plus some acoustics. they are referred to as 'sanford sessions' because they were done in the middle of nowhere...kind of...sanford, fl...about an hour from orlando depending on how bad the driving and construction is :p

I heard of Shinedown a while ago, but sort of forgot about them because of the amount of music I have in my folder. But I went through it the other day and saw one of their songs and decided to listen to them. I am so mad at myself for forgetting about them. ;__; I am completely obsessed with them right now.. it's all I've been listening to for the past few days. I want to get both of their albums.. but considering I have most of "Leave A Whisper" downloaded as it is.. heh.. *cough* Iunno. But since I love Shinedown so much, I think I might.

I'd have to say so far, my favourite song is 45, Crying Out, or Save Me.. but hell, it's hard to choose; they're all so flipping awesome. Except Simple Man. I'm not too fond of that one.

A lot of help I just listed all the singles, I know. They did a lot of stuff in between songs though, so that took up a lot of time. But here's something you all should know. When I went last night, they posted on the Winterfresh screens that the first 10 people to a certain location that had a Winterfresh or Wrigley product on them got to meet and get autographs from Shinedown and a free shirt. Okay, this is going to be a REALLY long story, so you’re in for quite a ride LOL. The entire day ROCKED; it was just awesome.

I left my dorm at around noon to catch the T (Boston subway) and transfer to the commuter rail to Worcester. I got there at around 2:20 after taking a cab from the station to the venue and there were about six people ahead of me in line.

Katie had gotten stuck in a massive traffic jam on I-91 so she didn’t get there until 3:30, but I chatted with some of the people in line with me until she did. Tracie, Maria and Cristy didn’t show up until around 4:15 or so (they were warned about the jam via Katie so I’m guessing they took a less direct route to avoid it).

It was snowing when I got there, and cold. Thankfully, there was little wind; we would’ve died if there was lol. As time progressed, the snow stopped but the temperature plummeted. Even I got cold and I was wearing two light shirts underneath my bodice, my Ev hoodie (which I kept hidden because of the whole Seether-Ev thing), and my massive down coat that blocks out the cold and wind like crazy. I actually gave my coat to Katie to dump in her car at around 5:30 because I knew that I would hate having to keep track of it and keep it over the barrier during the concert.

At around 5, I and two other girls decided that we were going to find someplace to go to the bathroom – easier said than done. The bar across the street wouldn’t let us in to use it; neither would the small pizza place nearby or Dunkin Donuts. We ended up going to a CVS and they let us use the employee bathroom…I discovered that the two girls were both EvBoarders, SilentWhisper and MyImmortal_Xx (who I actually Welcomed on here LOL) and we had a fun chat about that.

Katie and Tracie were on Halestorm’s and Seether’s guest lists, respectively, and although I had a ticket, Katie got me on her guest list anyway so we got to go inside slightly ahead of the line (they were going to make us go to the back but when we told them how long we’d been waiting, they said ‘oh, okay nevermind’ lol. Tracie got three backstage passes and Maria and Cristy took the other two.

We were right up front, slightly off-center, on the barrier, all set to rock out. Halestorm came first, and they were FANTASTIC. I didn’t know a few of the songs they played but I knew the two that are on their EP and totally rocked out the entire time. I got a bracelet from Lzzy and a pick from Joe, and Katie and I got some Lzzy love during the set :D. I looooove Halestorm so much. And they are amazing people, too. Arejay also personally handed a setlist to me (YAY!) but I let Katie have it since she had caught the bracelet but let me have it.

Flyleaf was after them, and I had decided that their live set was going to prove them to me, whether I was a fan or not lol because I like some of their stuff but not enough to be a fan. However, they pretty much won me over. Lacey is freaking TINY. Holy shit, she is small. The mic stand was lowered until it couldn’t be lowered anymore and that was around where her mouth was. She’s at least a head shorter than each of her bandmates and I could tell that they weren’t really big guys lol. But oh lord, can that girl belt and scream like it’s nothing. They played a really good set, and I liked “So Sick” (which is saying something, because I dislike the version I’ve heard).

Shinedown. Oh my lord. Shinedown. These are the guys who I hadn’t heard of two months ago who made me walk out of the concert a die-hard fan. Their set just made me love them more. What a show, man, what a show. The crowd got crazy, and this was the beginning of a very tightly-packed mosh pit that I am definitely bruised from. I knew all the words to their songs this time around, and I rocked out like nothing else (as best I could. The barrier and the people smooshed around me didn’t help lol). Brent got us all crazy! He’s awesome and he gave us a wonderful thank-you for waiting out in the cold for the concert. I got a Shinedown pick and Katie got their setlist. Good lord I love this band. Apparently they only stayed right after their set, not after the show itself, so I couldn’t get their autographs :( but oh well.

Seether was AMAZING. They had so much energy and their set just kicked ass all over the place (and Shaun’s face was visible for quite a bit of it ;)). They did these little intros and outros to all their songs that were kind of weird but I could guess the next song from them. It was actually pretty cool. Lzzy came out to do Broken…and I don’t care WHAT anyone says, she PWN3D that song. With Amy, it was great but the two of them would have a kind of power struggle when they sang together and it wasn’t quite as good live. With Lzzy, they didn’t fight each other and it just worked so well.

I got a Seether setlist! I was so happy :D In order, it was Gasoline, Needles, Burrito (holy shit I love that song), Driven Under, Diseased (omf @ that song too), Truth, Fine Again, Broken with Lzzy, The Gift, Pig, Because of Me/Walk, Heart Shaped Box, and Remedy. The crowd went NUTS during the last two; oh MAN was it insane.

Afterwards, I bought a Shinedown hoodie, and then Katie and I migrated over to where Flyleaf and Halestorm were signing stuff. I didn’t have enough $$ to buy the Flyleaf album but I told them that I didn’t know their stuff too well but I thought they rocked and they thanked me and Pat shook my hand :). Everyone from Halestorm remembered me from Providence! Haha I was shocked.

Katie and I managed to find our way back to the Mass Pike and she drove me back to my dorm (with a stop at a gas station and McDonald’s for the first food either of us had had in the past 14 hours). I got in at around 2:30 AM and didn’t go to bed until 3 AM.

I cannot MOVE. My neck is so sore that I can’t bend it downwards, my shoulders and arms are sore from headbanging and clinging to the barrier, my legs are bruised from being crushed into the barrier. I’ve got a big scratch on my face from God-knows-what and my voice is shot to hell. Oh yeah and this is the first concert that I’ve woken up from with my ears STILL ringing – I still can’t hear correctly. Holy shit though was it worth every second. This was EASILY one of the best concerts I have ever been to…EVER. Definitely tied with the BB/3DG/Seether/Ev show in July ’04, if not surpassing it.

So yeah. OMG. I want to go to the next one! *cries* Such an amazing, amazing concert. I can hardly wait until I can see all these bands again.

I gotta admit what little I've heard from these guys I do like. In fact I like a lot.

Here's my report on the Columbia 3 Rivers show.

The absolutely phenomenal, most perfect show of the night was SHINEDOWN! They had the same set list as the last time I saw them during SnoCore, but I couldn't even begin to explain to you how absolutely fricking amazing they were. Brent's voice can send chills down your spine (unless you're packed tightly together in front of a mosh pit...in which case, you're very warm.), Jasin and Brad played wonderfully and Barry worked at those drums like there was no tomorrow. This band is the epitome of all bands. They are for the fans, completely. They talk to you, they get you into the show so you're just not sitting there going, 'okay, I know this song...cool...now I'm going to headbang..maybe sing along to a tune or two...' Your focus isn't on the ritual of rock concerts, it's not on that annoying chick behind you trying to get your spot; it's completely on this group of amazing musicians who want nothing more than to please their fans. That is what a true band is. So, on their last song of the set, Brent decides to go crowdsurfing...I thought the security guards were going to crap themselves. I mean, please...we weren't going to bring him down and group rape him or anything....Anywho, he comes back over the barrier right in front of me and I touch his shirt...he turns around, looks me in the eyes, points at me, as if he were saying "thank you", and then grabs my hands, and hugs me. I was so completely shocked, but I managed to hug him back, tell him he was awesome, and-regretfully-let go. He smiled and got back onstage, and then the set ended and they had to go. Unfortunately, they weren't doing any signings...which I could completely understand; putting on a show like that had to be exhausting, it ended after midnight, and it seemed as if the whole crowd was there to see them...so yeah, they had many good reasons not to do signings. But I was completely blown away, once again, by their set and of course, by the hug.

Great story from FMQB.com

Shinedown is also doing their part to help rebuild New Orleans. The band will take a day off from touring in New Orleans next week to team with Habitat and help rebuild homes, according to MTV.com. Singer Brent Smith recently wrote "New Orleans" on the front of his shirt for two national television performances to remind people that work still needs to be done in the city.

Never seen 'em live but I just got the album yesterday on the strength of I Dare You. It's rare that I like every song on an album but I like these tunes.

I absolutely love shinedown I have now seen them 4 times 2 sundays ago at pointfest they were amazing. But it had been to long 2 years since my last shinedown concert. Brent Smith does an amazing show everytime. He literally walked off the stage and to the lawn so the people on the lawn could she him in person and not just on the big tv screens. I love them so much.
