So Close

I've spent so much time throwing rocks at your window
That I never even knocked on the front door

Ooh...
Ooh...
Ooh...

I walk by statues never even made one chip
But if I could leave a mark on the monument of the heart
I just might lay myself down for a little more than I had the last day
The last day
The last day
Oooh..

Wait a time to spare these lies we tell ourselves
These days have come and gone
But this time is sweeter than honey

Lyrics by: B. Moody, W. Boyd, M. Outlaw

This song makes me picture amy walking through a park in Little Rock and sitting on statues. I really like this song. It's sweet.

I liked of its theory.
It really is sweet.
For me is romantic song, with a strong mensage.
Like "For all that I fought, I want can let my name in the music world. Only thus I can rest in peace". :D
Taking this romantic side, a seemed message.
I think that I'm crazy. :p

I just love this song, especially this part:

I walk by statues never even made one chip
But if I could leave a mark on the monument of the heart
I just might lay myself down for a little more than I had the last day

Definitely one of my favourites. It usually gives me the chills.

This is such an underrated song! It sounds so otherworldly. I LOVe the very last part when Amy sings, 'but this time is sweeter than honey,'.

That part is awesome..
I must say, I love when she sings "The last day" the one time when she sings three or four different notes on "day."

In my opinion, this is their best older song. I really like how they can make this a heavy song but also a sweet song at the same time. It's coool.

I just might lay myself down...

^Favorite part of the song.

For some reason, I keep listening to this song lately.

I think its really underrated compared to all their other older stuff. It really is an amazing song. I love how they are able to change from soft to heavy. Amy's voice sounds amazing in this song.

"Wait a time to spare these lies we tell ourselves

This song is fantastic, has its own magic. Can't describe it very well, it's just... I like it. :D

Every time I listen to this song, I always pictured Amy walking through an old cemetary with gothic statues like the Angel of Grief (from the EP cover), and have it be on black and white. This song always seemed so dark and 'gothic' to me

Whenever anyone ever mentions Evanescence, this is the first song I automatically relate to them... not BMTL or MI, but So Close. It's without a doubt one of my favourite Ev songs. I love how it accellerates about 3/4 into the song and just goes crazy!:D

This song is so different to everything else Evanescence have recorded, and that's why I love it so much. There's something very special about it, and it has a distinct style that I can't quite place a name to.

I especially love the second verse, which then goes into the "the last day". Magical. :)

This used to be my favorite song, but I over-listened to it. I haven't heard it in a while cos of the TOD rush. It's so descriptive, you have to vizualize it. I love the guitar solo. It took me a while to understand what the lyrics meant, though.

This song is amazing. My favorite line is "wait a time to spare these lies we tell ourselves." It's just beautiful... I love everything about this song.

Best song of EV, it gave me a "I am in love"(don't know who but I am in love) feeling. Just superb.

I love this song!!
I like the whole thing, but my favorite part is the instrumental in the beginning and near the end. It just pulls you in. It has something about it that I just can't describe. It's wonderful.

Somehow, it's kind of easy to tell that Amy didn't write the lyrics (I don't mean that in a bad way though)
