There is not a flood of mods on this board... so if you mention "several mods"... that mean that almost ALL don't like you. Be openminded and think twice what and how to post, you have about three thousand and something comments done, so they probably have reasons against... but keep reasonable doubts myself that would ban you for nothing. Perhaps some mods act so bitter sometimes, anyone is perfect, everyone is different, we have good and bad days, but as far as I can see, they are not revengers.

It sounds very drastic to ban everyone who annoys the mods, but I guess it's necessary to tell it in this way. It reminds the members that you shouldn't get carried away too much. It's probably not my place to say anything, but I've noticed that we've pretty much ran out of things to discuss involving the actual reason for this board, and every day more 'morons' are showing up who do not yet (or probably ever) realize that..This place is filled with people who just want to make themselves known and in turn, post stupid shit that no one cares about. I still love this place though, and I'm very thankful that ToB and the mods continue to keep this place up (I'm not totally sure who is involved there, so forgive me) despite the never ending line of stupid people coming through this place. It doesn't go unnoticed. You guy kick ass.

Having only joined a couple of days ago, I see that the board is so "out of hand," as you say, that it's taken me this long just to read the guidelines. Thus, I have a question: you know that "FAQ" link up at the top? Why don't you change it? Right now, it gives some fairly useless generic information about how to use this particular brand of bulletin board. More useful would be to have information such as this collected for the benefit of n00bs such as myself. I'm no stranger to bulletin boards, and as such realise that it's advantageous to stay on the correct side of those in charge. I just think it would be nice if it were easier to find out how to do so - I think I've read all I need to read, and know what I should and shouldn't be doing, but it seems as though there are many who don't bother. Getting people to read a centralised FAQ before they register could be a good plan, perhaps? Then there really would be no excuses.

The Gentoo Linux forums cater for far more members (I think there's 12603 here, compared with 56835 there) and are having difficulty controlling the "Off The Wall" forum (unrestricted chat about whatever you like, as long as you don't flame or otherwise malign people). Recently, they introduced some new guidelines. The gist of it is, if it's not something you would say to your mother, you shouldn't be posting it. It's been very successful. A similar rule here might be a good idea too?

interesting points, but surely you're gonna have a very different audience at the linux forums than you do here? There are people from so many different walks of life, ages, and opinions on things here. I don't think porting rules from one board over to another will necessarily work.
