I know it's a while off, but is anyone going to see The Butterfly Effect at the Gaelic Club on the 16th of April, or anywhere else?
I bought my ticket today. However, I screwed up as (since I didn't want to use my debit card) I used my mother's card, and apparently I need to bring that credit card along to the Gaelic Club. It looks like I'll have to buy it again from a store and use that instead :o

I actually went to see it opening night, and was asked to take a survey by the director of the film... (well, the director wasn't there, just one of his reps, but they gave away posters, so i was happy lol)
before TBE, the best psychological thriller was Identity or Jacob's Ladder... Now, TBE has definitely taken the #1 spot in my opinion :) The kid who played Ashton's character when he was younger (the scene with the perverted father) should really get some kind of award for his perfomance.

^ Nice, but what does that have to do with a Brisbane band that formed in 1999 and released their first EP in 2001? :D

I know they're playing at 6pm on Saturday night at North Sydney Oval, but I've made plans with a group of friends, so I'll have to wait and see about going to see them. I don't feel like hanging around all day to get a decent spot though on a Saturday.
Rest assured, I will be seeing them at the Gaelic Club though.

Okay, Gaelic Club concert review (of sorts):
I got there around 6ish, met mknell (Marc) at 6:30pm outside the club, discussed Australian bands whilst waiting impatiently tor the doors to be let in. Realised that apart from TBE, Area 7 and Bodyjar, my knowledge of Australian bands is utter crap :p We saw Clint and TBE doing the sound check (I pretty sure what they were doing) through the windows of the door and Marc frequently screamed for Clint to "Dance bitch dance!" to no avail. He did give us a wave though ;)
Anyway, the fire brigade was called in around 7:20pm roughly, apparently there was a malfunction with the smoke machine for TBE and they weren't allowed it to use it afterwards, but they did anyway once they started :p
I've never heard Degrees K or Japunga before: I liked Japunga a lot more (more thrashing about), but they were both good IMO.
Marc and his friends and myself got in right at the front, which was great, except that we got squished pretty badly against the stage when TBE came out, but it was worth it. Everyone was singing along to the songs and Clint frequently went right up to the front row and reached out to us and to Marc's delight, did dance quite a bit :p We all thrashed about and jumped up and down, although the latter wasn't such a good idea unless I felt like crushing my chest some more. Unfortunately, some retards crowd-surfed onto stage and then dived back into the crowd and started over again, or they were dragged off by security. Fucking idiots, one prick knocked over Clint's microphone stand  I nearly got kicked in the head by one such moron, so I wasn't too happy about that. TBE took it in their stride though. Kurt liked kicking a lot, and because I was half-leaning on the stage (due to the crowd), I had to be careful that he a) didn't tread on my fingers or b) kick me in the head whilst jamming along. He did neither, so kudos to him.
Clint got hit by a paper cup of beer thrown by some idiot, but fortunately it was virtually empty and it only hit his chest from memory. That was the only "chucking objects on stage" incident that happened. After they went off-stage, the drum-sticks were thrown out, I nearly got one but missed out on the last second. The guitar picks were given out by on the other end of the stage only.
This was my first TBE concert, and did it rock :D I should have brought ear-plugs, but I'll remember that for next time. Anyway, it was great and thanks again Marc, hopefully I'll find the time and money for many more concerts in the future.

Anyways, back to the topic...

Yeah I know that's whats so bad about it seriously u guys get near nothing
jadeakira
04-21-2004, 07:08 PM
Near nothing what though? How can't you possibly expect a city as small as Adelaide to draw the things that a city the size of Sydney can? And that, does not make Sydney or NSW better than Adelaide/SA. :P
Let me think for a minute here...best beer - SA. IWINYOULOSE! :P
mknell
04-21-2004, 07:56 PM
As I just said we get everything all the events etc
ha ha Beer sux & if I had 2 choose a best beer it would be VB which is a vicotrian beer :-p lol

04-21-2004, 09:44 PM
lol he was there what..a day?.lol. well you just got to know where to go.. to have fun
haha
it may be boring to you and others and well me sometimes lol but thats cus we are from big cities. people here they dont know different, they are used to it.
mknell
04-22-2004, 02:02 AM
U guys still haven't told me anything good there :-p
I say John was right :-p
jadeakira
04-22-2004, 09:39 AM
*rolls eyes*
What the hell would John know, I mean seriously? He's in Adelaide for not even 24 hours. Loser!
And, if you're going to compare Adelaide and Sydney only on the number of concerts which each city attracts then of course Sydney is going to win.
VB is one of the worst beer on the face of the planet, but second only to XXXX.
Now let's see...Wine...The Hunter Valley is awesome, but the Barrosa and Maclaren Vale are better, everyone knows it.
Adelaide does not have smog and nasty traffic.
Rupert Murdoch thinks Adelaide is good! :P
