I just did a search and there were 2 mentions of this band.

So how many people here have heard them and what do y'all think?

First song I remember hearing was Hall of Mirrors and that just captured me completely, so now I have the Coral Fang album and I love the whole damn thing. I personally don't like the cover art but the music is all good.

Oh and I put this here and not small/indie bands because they definately are not small/indie.

I'm discovering this group... The first song I heard was Drain in Blood and it liked me a lot! So I'm looking for more songs and now I have Hall of Mirrors and Ask the Angels.
I like his music but I prefer other groups I'm discovering now too like InMe, Finger Eleven or Lacuna Coil!!

I first heard this band the same day as Evanescence actually. I heard "The Young Crazed Peeling" and was properly intrigued by it. However, in the past few weeks I've gotten even more into the music when I heard "Drain the Blood" and now I'm thoroughly obsessed.

I actually do like Brody's voice. I think it's quite different and enjoyable in that way. And she does pack a lot of emotion. My favorite song is "The Hunger" and although when I first heard the song I had no idea what she was saying she gets the point across through her emotion I think.

Anyways, as of right now I like their last two albums Coral Fang and Sing Sing Death House the best. It's kind of disappointing, however, how little information is available on this band. But yeah...the band owns me. :D

The Distillers.. awesome awesome. I've been a fan for about a year now. First song I heard was "Young Crazed Peeling". I didn't like it that much at first, because Brody does sound like a guy lol- but it sunk into me. I still need to get Coral Fang, but I have the first two cd's.

I was on Yahoo's launch today and saw an interview with The Distillers. In addition to the written interview they had a small video clip. In any case, it was very informative to me because, as I mentioned, I haven't found a lot on this band. And it was nice to hear it in Brody and Tony's words.

The interview also mentions Amy Lee/Evanescence twice. It refers to her, along with Brody Dalle, as one of the few true women who rock. But you can see that all here:

Brody reminds me of a slightly saner Courtney Love.

Their voices sound pretty similar to me. But I really don't like the band, or Hole, or Courtney Love. XD

Well they haven't been mentioned much, but if you look back to the beginning of this year, most of us were annoyed that nobody had heard of Evanescence. I think personally that The Distillers may as well be one of the biggest rock groups of 2003.
Along with Ev, duh!
I have to get that fucking album! I just got twenty dollars, I'm gonna look for the NOT EDITED version! I'm so not gonna find it in Walmart or Kmart!

Edit: Thank you very much, mom, for using my twenty to get gas.

I finally got the money to pick up their new CD Coral Fang and every store I went to (Wal-Mart, Target, Best Buy, Circuit City, etc.) only have the version with the edited cover. I wanted the "explicit" version, but figured if I have to settle for this it's better than nothing.

I brought it home and put it in my computer and the computer refuses to read the disc. I thought maybe my computer was acting up and put it in my parent's computer. Nope, that one refuses to read it also. Turns out the brand new CD I just bought has a massive scratch from the center all the way to the outside edge rendering it useless. So I just bought a CD I can't even listen to.

Anyways, since I have to go buy another one, does anyone know where I can get this CD (a store, not the internet) with the original cover art?

that's got to suck, buying a cd and not being able to listen to it...
I have only heard a bit from The Distillers and I thought they were pretty good, so when you get the album be sure to tell the rest of us what it is like.

I lovvvvvvve them. Saw them last year at a festival in August. I was already a fan then. Then i listened to "sing sing death house" more. Tickets went on sale for their glasgow gig for 11 November so i ran out and got a ticket, along with their new album. Was verrrrrrry excited about it, then 2 days before i went to see Evanescence on Nov 4th, i noticed that the venue for Distillers had changed! Then, i looked again, and the date had been moved to the 13 of Feb!!! I was appalled. But, the good thing was, only me and a friend had tickets and it was sold out. Now another 9 of my friends have tickets. And we're off school that day so we can camp outside the venue all day. lol. So im guna see them in 6 days. :D

I love the distillers. They rock. I've loved them for ever, in fact, they were an indie band when I started to listen to them! Also love A.F.I, finger eleven, the Casualties, F-Minus, Rammstein, Metallica (old), Rancid, NOFX, and of course, EVANESCENCE!

Love the Distillers! Though I actually think Sing Sing Death House is a better album than Coral Fang... I am a Revenant owns my soul completely. And Brody doesn't always sound like a guy; if you can find the acoustic version of Dismantle Me, you can tell she really can sing, she just screams so much it's hard to tell sometimes. Unfortunately, I haven't gotten to see them live yet. :(

I really like the distillers, though I haven't heard the first release (think it was self-titled...an EP maybe).
I feel bad that Brody's been basically dragged through the mud after breaking up w/Tim Armstrong. But, that what happens in the music business I guess. Your life gets dragged through Rolling Stone in pictures with clever captions.

I personally prefer "Sing Sing.." to Coral Fang. It's really only because of Deathsex on the latter. I can't STAND 10 minute songs at the end of an album. Makes playing the album on repeat a pain the the ass.

I love her voice. "Whiskey-soaked" I've heard it described as. It does remind me of Courtney Love a little, but in a much less painful way. Unfortunately, I haven't seen them live yet. Can't wait to see them though. Whew, I'm done!

I was searching around for a thread on the Distillers hoping there wasn't one so I could start it and get all the credit for plugging them, but hey. v_v Such is life.

I'm going to bump it though, since I think they're a great band and they're getting more exposure these days. Hopefully it'll stay alive a bit longer before falling into the depths of the archives of this board. o_o

Hi, I'm Brittany, and I love the Distillers.

I love the self-titled album.

I saw the distillers open up for the dwarves years ago before I got old. It was cool.

With coral fang, I really feel they lost their edge. the songs are good. I don't dig the production. I liked them better as a punk rock band.

the thing that redeems it all is that the songs sound way better live.

so I dunno.

I guess I still like the distillers a lot I just don't listen to coral fang very much at all.

I'm bringing this thread back to life. I have a new obsession. I have an obsession with the Distillers. I've been listening to them for a while. I downloaded 3 of their songs a few months ago. I got kinda bored so I decided to check them out more. I went to their website and I listened to a few more of their songs. I decided to buy their newest CD. It kicks the booty. I have to admit. I'm not a big fan of punk rock. In fact, I really can't stand it. The Distillers are a big exception. They don't whine as much as most other punk rock bands.

Oh and if Brody wasn't married to that guy from Rancid, she'd be mine.

But Drain the Blood... the only song from them I've heard... I love it :)

The Distillers aren't all that popular in the U.S. either. They were on a program for MTV (I think it was "You Hear It First") a while ago but it didn't do much for the band. I only heard about them when I saw a Distillers patch on a girl's backpack last September.

Last I heard, they were supposed to have a new album out *this* summer, but I guess that's not going to happen. I'm still satisfied with what I have from them. I'm a fan of progression through music, but it was quite the dramatic change from SSDH to Coral Fang. Not sure if I'm ready for another one of those just yet. Coral Fang is great if you take it for what it is, but comparing it to the older stuff...its so...soft. It's like if you took the old Distillers, and ripped their balls off, Coral Fang would be the product.

Anyway! I'm rambling. I hadn't heard that Andy left, but that sucks. I haven't seen much of them at all lately, so I don't even know what Brody looks like anymore. Strange.

I dont think this has been said. Don't take my word for it but apparentely The Distillers have broken up. Brody's laywer e-mailed Ryan to say that she quit and then Ryan posted on their forum and confirmed that it was true.

Also in a recent interview Brody said this:

Because all I want to do right now is nest and have babies; I don't want to fucking be on tour.

Like, yes, I want a herb garden, and I want to get my nails dirty. All I can think about right now is fucking being pregnant and cooking dinner.

aww, I think the rumour about Brody being pregnant must be true. This is from deathhouse.org (http://deathhouse.org)
CLICK HERE for the pic (http://i2.photobucket.com/albums/y45/evelyn_/preg7rw.jpg)
Last night I went to the Eagles of Death Metal show at the Sunset Junction Street Fair. After the show we went back to talk to the band and Brody was there, very pregnant (and being a good mom, not smoking or drinking). We went up to talk to them and brody for a while, she says that it's a boy, and that his name is going to be Cash as in Johnny. She also said that the Distillers are officially over, she was "millimg things over in her head for a while" before she decided that it was "the end of an era" and that everyone has gone there seperate ways, BUT she said she is going to be doing something else in the future, after the baby. It was an awesome night, she and Bryan (the bassist) invited me and my band with them to the bar that they were all going to be partying at, and we talked a long time, Bryan took my bands CD and said he's going to be contacting us...O Lord.

Also The Distillers website (http://thedistillers.com) has been updated and it looks like there will be more to come from Brody afterall!

Oh God, I'm such a HUGE major fan of this band. They have such an influence in my life nowadays that it would sound weird to heard. Anyway, Brody is a HUGE idol for me, and the whole band as well, their sound, music, lyrics it's the best punk rock band EVER.

You, here. How come? Haha.

Yeah, they're awesome. Brody's voice and her screams are amazing. It's just the kind of music you need to hear with the maximum volume. The louder the better.
